Roll tool doesn't bring up two up window revised

I have recently re-installed my FCP on and now I am having difficulty using the roll tool.
After placing 2 clips onto the timeline,trimming them down,working with only the video layer,I am trying to roll the edit at which time a two up window should appear to show me the relative position in both the outgoing and incoming clips, but it doesn't appear.
The manual tells me under the roll tool section that a two up window will appear but doesn't mention what to do if it doesn't.
Any help would be great,thank you kindly

This happens to me occasionally, and I just quit out of FCP and relaunch the application. Then I get my dual windows back.
Don't suppose that helps much...

How do I use the move tool in CS5 to put two images on to an A4 sheet?

Have recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5.
I often print out two images on A4 paper. Under CS3 I would simply adjust and crop 2 images to say 7 ins x 5 ins, after that bring up a new A4 sized sheet (file, new), then using the move tool I'd move the two separate images on to the A4 sheet and print. Fine!
Now under CS5, once I've adjusted my first image then try to bring up a second image to adjust that one I seem to lose the first one from the screen. But on going back via Bridge and clicking on the image it re-appears - problem is, I lose the second image.
When I bring up a new A4 sheet neither of the images stay on the screen and there is nothing to move.
Have been into Preferences to see if there is anything there to help but can't see anything.
Does anyone know what is happening here and what I'm doing wrong i.e. how do I get 2 separate images on to an A4 sheet?

There have been changes since cs3, mainly that cs5 uses tabs.
Tabs can be confusing if your coming from cs3.
If your in the tabbed mode, try going to Window>Arrange>Tile.
All your open documents should be visible on the screen.

Eyedropper tool doesn't work in Index Mode

When I am in Index mode, and I bring up the color table, the eyedropper tool doesn't work unless I right-click and choose one of the point sample averages. And even then, it doesn't always work unless I hit some combination of Shift-control-option-command. I'm still not sure what the combination is since it seems to differ a little depending on Photoshop's mood.
I can remember there was this problem a couple of versions back, and Adobe fixed it after about a year or so.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for the temporary solution. The is the same bug was in CS3 then fixed ic CS4. Now it's back in CS5.
I've only had this bug with Macs not PCs. "YES IT'S A BUG!" Question: Is there anybody from Adobe who reads this? Can someone at adobe please tell us when this Mac bug will be fixed? For a premium product at such a price, Photoshop shouldn't have a bug like this. Adobe should be more responsive! Think of the difficulty people like me who write textbooks must have. To give one technique for a PC and then a workaround technique for a MAC. I implore anyone who is experiencing this problem to contact Adobe & let them know about it! Why doesn't clicking on a Finder window always bring it to the front

Right now on my screen I have two Finder windows. One is partially covered by the other.
Clicking on the rear window does not bring it to the front. I've seen this happen many times already.
Why wouldn't it come to the front and cover the current front window?

Roll Tool and audio scrub

I am trying to use the roll tool on the video track and listen to the audio on the tracks underneath as I scroll back and forth. Is this possible? Thank you.

I don't think I explained what I am seeing/trying to do accurately the first time...
When you click and hold down the mouse button on an edit on the video track, using the roll tool, two small windows open in the record window showing the A and B side of the cut. As I scroll the mouse back and forth, I cannot hear the audio underneath. My question relates to whether it's possible to hear the audio or if there is something wrong with my settings. Thanks again. Longer Transitions? Must you use the roll tool every time?

Hello. I'm new to FCE, and while I'm blown away at the possibilities with this editing software, I'm also reaching a point of slight discouragement... simply because of the daunting task of learning it all.
Anyways, here's my question this time around.
I've added several 10 second clips of stills to my timeline. When I add a dissolve transition between them, it automatically inserts the transition in a duration of only 00:00:01. This is obviously annoying. I've learned of the Roll tool, with allows me to drag the desired clips together, and therefore allowing for more room to enter a dissolve of say 1 second.
Isn't there an easier way to do this? Must I use the Roll tool for every point that I'd like to add a 1-second transition? This seem quite excessive, and quite unbelievable. I must be missing something. Is there a way to insert a cross-dissolve and have it automatically roll the clips together? My transition alignment is set to Center, so I don't see why it can't automatically bring :15 frames of the first clip and second clip together.

Yes, pretty much right at the beginning of the clip. Through experimentation, I believe I've found out that I need to have sufficient frames prefacing the IN point and following the OUT point in order to input a longer transition. Is that correct?
Again I question this though... Is there not a more automatic way to simply add for say, a 2-second transition, or is it essential to manually check the In and Out points of every single clip?

Can't find it in the customization tool and don't want to change this on 650 workstations.
If I could change a registry key or change it in the installation it would help alot.

My first reply was empty because i responded to the email I received saying this thread (is that the right terminology?) was updated. Obviously that email didn't get added, just a blank line....
Then I replied to this thread directly on Friday and that seems to have disappeared. Maybe I just don't know how to use a computer? Better sell the technology company I own LOL.
Ok so it seems the screen is normal, (not maximized). When I unlock and drop my start bar to one row, then the top of the screen pops down to inside my visible monitor space and it is not maximized. This allows me to drag it to another monitor and then maximize it there, then put my start bar back and relock it. This is the only way I can move the window, if I don't shrink my start bar, then I have zero access to the top bars of the document!
Currently I can not reproduce the problem ( I might have temporarily fixed it with my start bar reducing and then moving documents), so maybe it is permanently fixed....
Maybe a reboot will bring the problem back... It has been intermittent for about 6 months.

Elements 11. Resize image tool doesn't work. Tried online chat with Adobe - no help.

I recently got a new computer (pc) and decided to download Elements 11 instead of the old version that was on my old computer. I've discovered that the image resizing tool doesn't work, although the other functions seem to be working fine.

It's covered under the same warranty as the phone. So long as it's not physically damaged, they should replace it for you.

Doesn't Search SWF and Magnify Tool doesn't work

I got the PDF to SWF thing down pat in Flashpaper. But It
doesn't search the text.
YES, the text is selectable, so why can't it search the text
of my swf. Also the Maginfying tool doesn't work in flashpaper.
I'm going to test a couple different things first such as
messing with the PDF in Acrobat Pro first to see if I need to do
something there in order to make the search function work.
I did notice there are barely any replies to this forum, but
GEE-WIZ guys somebody should answer some of these questions if you

I went back and checked out the Indesign file. Apparently
whoever made the catalog grouped alot of the text boxes. After I
ungrouped these I exported to PDF and opened it up to do a check.
Everything was searchable. There was something I toyed with in
Indesign referring to subfonts. However, when I convert it to an
swf using flashpaper it loses some of the searchable text. I got an
idea and printed to FP but instead of choosing FP once the window
came up I selected PDF. It is doing the same thing in the same
spots. Everything is selectable right now in the PDF I printed from
Indesign, I can even copy and paste the text perfectly into word.
There are no settings for FP so I am lost as to what to do from
here. I am using Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro, Indesign CS2 and FP 2

PEN TOOL DOESN'T WORK ANY MORE after PS 2014.2 update!

I just downloaded the latest Photoshop update. Pretty slick......adjustable fonts in the dropdown menus again.....nice guide improvements. One little problem....THE PEN TOOL DOESN'T WORK ANY MORE. The program is totally useless. What the h%+l is wrong with adobe? At least I can still use Photoshop CC. Anyone got a fix for this?

I Created an adjustment (Curves) layer and did the curves adjustment. Then I did an Edit Fill (Normal Mode, 100% Opacity and Use: Black).
I then try to use the brush tool, but it doesn't work. I've done this hundreds of times before and suddenly it's not working. Rebooted the system, but that didn't help.
I know how to do a screen shot, but it doesn't paste onto this screen. How do I get that to you?

At one time tool recording was not possible and if you install Adobe Scriptlistener Plug-in Adobe will disable tool recording its never an option.
I use and record actions all the time and was looking forward to tool recording when Adobe announced it. However I found what they delivered was of very limited value because of the restrictions. I do not care that Adobe disables tool recording on my machine.
The amount of data that gets reordered seems also vary between machines. I found that Action recorded on fast machine are not usable on slow machine. Fast machine recorder too much data.
Documents you use such action on must also have the same size and resolution as the document you recorded the action on. Quite a restriction.
You problem may also be foxed in CC 2014 sett here Photoshop CS6 - Recording the clone tool in an action gives incorrect results on replay.

Red Eye Tool doesn't work in ACR 4.1

The Red Eye tool doesn't work on my computer in Camera Raw 4.1/Bridge. When I choose it, the Pupil Size and Darken sliders appear but nothing happens when you try a correction. If I open the same image in Photoshop CS3, the Red Eye control works fine. How can I get it to work in in ACR?

Ramon is right. Best to select the whole eye (even eyebrow) and you'll get the overlay box around the red. If it doesn't entirely cover the red (or if it box bounds some reddish eyelids) you can click and drag to widen(lessen) or lengthen the box and change the 'pupil size'. And so far I haven't found any, even bright, redeyes where the 'darken' control won't get a good dark result. [Animals (green/yellow eyes) are a different story.] Sometimes going too dark will also darken the irises. With the 'show overlay' unchecked you can drag the 'fix' off the eye onto the cheek to see the pattern - dark in the center and then a gradient fade of dark going out from center. "Clear all" clears all of course and you can start over.
