Rollback from a patch?

Hi.
I am writing change request for a client and need to specify the back out plan from applying a patch.
Usually, we simply say "restore from backup", but I am sure there must be a better tuned way to recover from an EBS patch?
We are using 11.5.10.2 on Linux with 10.2.0.4.
Thanking you,

Hi user;
Usually, we simply say "restore from backup", but I am sure there must be a better tuned way to recover from an EBS patch? As i know the best way is take back any patch from EBS is turning to valid backup. But there are some patch option for can use and recover EBS.
Please check this link for AutoPatch modes, arguements and options
Also i suggest you please check below for undestanding concept of autopatch ..

  • Rollback from one humantask previous humantask in BPEL process flow

    Hello,
We have requirement to rollback from current Human task stage to previous human task in BPEL process flow. What are best way to achieve this?
    Thanks

what I understood is that your forms may call any of the 3 databases. give a try to Dynamic PartnerLink http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/bpel_cookbook/carey.html. You will have one parent process that will be called by the forms. Now this bpel process based on the parameters sent by form, will call any of the three bpel process pointing to three different databases.
Please explain in further details if my understanding is wrong.

  • Recovering from interrupted patch

I have a slight problem which stems from our patch bundle taking a long time per patch at some points (thus tripping the timeout on our console terminal server) and the resulting lack of feedback.
Thinking the patch process had hung, I halted and rebooted the server so as not to run over my maintenance window. Yes, that was stupid of me to do, but that is water over the dam.
As it turns out, the patch it was trying to apply when halted is in a half-applied state. Is there any way of recovering short of a full re-install of Solaris?

I already tried re-applying the patch bundle from single-user state, and the bundle script skipped over the partially-applied patch.
A quick perusal of the man page for patchrm suggests that attempting to remove the partially applied patch first will result in an error message, so I suppose I needn't bother with patchrm. I'll try re-applying just the interrupted patch from single-user and see how that works.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • How to rollback from patch upgrade?

If I installed a new patch for DS or DPS, how can I rollback? Is there any tool to auto this job?
    Thanks!

I think after taking ldif backup for config and user data, you may simply re-install the original DS5.2 without patch.
However for schema and config data changes, it is your responsibility to scrutinize them and restore back the "correct" one.
So you may need to edit the ldif backup to suit the rolled back schema and config, prior to restore via ldif,..
Just my 2-cent, never done it.

  • One Step DVD From VCR Patched Through Mini-DV

I guess the One Step method only works with Device Control inputs?
I've got my VCR patched through my MiniDV camera, and a Firewire cable to the Mac. When I choose One Step DVD, it looks for a tape in my camera. But I can capture in FCP with this same setup.
I guess iDVD 5.0 won't let me capture this way? I don't see any preferences I can change.
Also, is there a maximum length of capture in iDVD 5.0?
    Thanks!

I guess the One Step method only works with Device Control inputs?
Yep - OneStep will not work witout timecode.
    from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300735
Note: OneStep DVD will only capture from recorded tape on a DV camcorder or deck. OneStep DVD will not work with analog-to-DV converters. It will also not work if you are using your camcorder or deck as a pass-through device to digitize from an analog souce (such as VHS or Hi-8). In order to function, OneStep DVD reads the timecode from your DV tape and it relies on DV device control to communicate with the camera or deck.

  • Features in Patch 6.4 missing from ZCM Patch MGMT 11.2.1.0

We are migrating from Novell ZENworks Patch Mgmt v. 6.4.2.1592 to the ZCM v. 11.2.1.0 patching service. I've noticed that there are are few features in the Patch mgmt 6.4 that I don't see in ZCM 11.2.1.0 and want to see if I'm just missing them somehow. I've looked throught the zen11_pm_administration manual and could not find any info on the following:
    1) In Patch 6.4 when looking at the vulnerabilities/patches, you could filter by a specific OS in that it would only show patches (for example) for Windows 7 32bit workstations...and those patch results would only display "patched" or "not patched" numbers for that specific OS. In ZCM 11.2 patch mgmt...it appears that it can only filter by Platform: Windows, Vendor: Microsoft. With this filtering it mixes all the XP, Windows 7 32bit, Windows 7 64 bit, and Windows server patches all together. In the patch name field I can put "Windows 7" but it display 32 and 64 bit as well as patches for servers and includes servers in the numbers for "patched vs not patched". I would like to be able to filter the patches to show for example only patches for Windows 7 64bit workstations and have it reflect the workstations with only Windows 7 64 bit as it does in Patch 6.4. We have ZCM servers in our system but are using a different method to patch them. Basically, I currently have to wade throught the patches for Windows 7 (for example)..select the ones I want..and if that patch also is for Server 2008...I have to make sure that after the deployment creation is completed to remove the servers from the deployment. It would be much easier and efficient to be able to filter out the patches for a specific OS and apply those patches to only that specific OS workstations. Any ideas if this is possible under ZCM 11.2.1.0 patching?
    2) In Patch 6.4 you could configure a policy for snooze and reboot options. Then when completing the deployment wizard...you could select "Use policies" for these options. Is there a place to configure these presets in ZCM 11.2.1.0 or does one have to manually change them every time a deployment is created?
3)Once a deployment is set to a group of test workstations, in Patch 6.4 I could export the list of worksations in the test deployment to send to the helpdesk in case they received any calls. Is there an option to do this in ZCM? There doesnt seem to be one.
Any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Michaelstump,
is there a reason you posted in the ZCM *10* patch management forum? At
this time, I agree, some things are better with ZCM patch management,
    some things are not...

  • JMS transaction rollback from Javacallout

    Hi,
I have a proxy which insert message into queue via business service, and i have another proxy which pull message from queue and call to javacallout which returns boolean (true/false). During some processing javacallout return a boolean false. I have managed for checking if the boolean returned in false then i want to rollback the transaction and message to put back to queue.
I have setting "Is XA required = true" and JMS proxy configured for XA connection.
When i recieve boolean false from javacallout i am raising error which is not handled by any error handler. I dont have stage error handler, no service error handler and hence according to me error should propegate and it should rollback.
But message is not rollback to queue.
I have "Redelivery Delay Override", "Redlivery Limit" property set to -1 (default) and "Expiration Policy" set to "Discard" and no "Error Destination" selected for Queue setup.
I am using Oracle Service Bus 10gR3 version.
I am new to this type of configuration and i suppose i am missing some configuration here.
Please help me, its little urgent.
    Thanks
    Sujit

    Hi Sujit,
I have "Redelivery Delay Override", "Redlivery Limit" property set to -1 (default) and "Expiration Policy" set to "Discard" and no "Error Destination" selected for Queue setup.
Change the Redelivery Limit field  to 3 ( specify the number of redelivery tries a message can have before it is moved to an error destination  like three times)
    Select Redirect as Expiration Policy.
Select ErrorQueue ( Queue where you wants the rollback message should enqueue) as the Error Destination value.
make sure to use XA connection factory.
    Hope it helps ..

  • Not getting outputs from JavaScript Patch in QC2

The JavaScript Patch no longer generates outputs from outputs[n]. The outputting of data just stopped.
An example output generator (no other instructions in the JavaScript patch):
    outputs[0] = "string";
was sent to an Image With String patch and then to a Billboard patch (the only existing patches). No text appeared in the viewer. When in Editor, the cursor placed over Output #0 shows only:
    Type Virtual
with no value. The input string into Image With String shows "".
When disconnecting the JavaScript patch from the Image With String patch and I entered "help", the text help appeared in the viewer.
I reinstalled Quartz Composer and there was no change. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

What I've learned: the Tascam 122L has known issues when working with Leopard. Back in the store, I plugged another external card (Presonus Audiobox USB), which immediately worked with the Mac as though they were friends since birth.
I am rapidly warming to Mainstage.

  • Rollback from Directory Server 5.2 to Directory Server 4.12

    Hi,
I have migrated from Directory Server 4.12 to 5.2. The Schema and data migration was smooth.
Due to some issues with the application , I want to rollback all the changes and migrate back to DS 4.12 to DS 5.2.
Is there any option available in Directory Server .
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Janran

    You'll need to re-install 4.12.
But, I don't think 4.x is even supported. You will have to upgrade eventually, so might as well call the developers and have them update their application.

When I run `smpatch analyze' on a patch client, it always lists
    this patch:

  • How to downgrade / rollback from os x 10.5 to 10.3?

In order to use a specific software title, I need to rollback/downgrade the operating system on my iMac G5. When attempting to start up from the OS x 10.3 install cd, the iMac puts up the grey apple picture, and then stalls out, and won't ever go any further. I know that there are no issues with the CD, as I also had to rollback the OS on my PowerBook G4. Could it be something with the iMac itself? Or, am I goofing up somehow?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Install CDs are machine specific, if you are trying to use the one that came with your G4, it will not work. In any case, you cannot install an OS that is earlier than the one the computer came with, so if yours came with 10.4, you cannot install 10.3.
