Rollback to XI R2 SP2
Hi.
I have CR XI R2 SP2 (full build) on a XP machine. I applied SP 3 on it a few days back. Now, after I have removed SP3, I still see my version number to be the same as it was after installing SP3. This indicates that SP3 has not been removed completely. Can you please provide me with further guidelines for a COMPLETE uninstallation of SP3? Are there any keys in the registry that need to be modified/deleted?

If there is any trace of SP3 still remains on the machine, there must be a registry entry for that!!
Try the below steps:
1.Take a back up before doing any changes.
2.Click on Start ->Run->Type regeditThis would open the registry editor.
3.Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SOFTWARE->Business Objects ->Suite ->Crystal Reports.
4.If the service packs installed have folders of there names here. Search for Service pack3 and delete that folder.

I've gotten to the point where I am trying to execute ./createDB >& dblogs. The logs I get are not even close to what I'm seeing in the samples. The logs I get back are peppered with :
ORA-12546: TNS:permission denied
and
SP2-0640: Not connected
I'm assuming here that something is wrong with the IP addressing. I'm running a cable router which acts as a DHCP server but even when I try to assign a static address, modif the /etc/hosts file accordingly I'm still getting these logs. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I tried to make that error occur but couldn't replicate it. Perhaps you could post a bit of information. If you go just to the stage before you do the ./DBcreate and then run these commands and post the results it should be easier to work out what's going on.

Data Committed instead of Rollback after Deadlock Error in SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2)
We're having a strange issue which is occurring only with one Customer having SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2).
Basically we have multiple threads uploading data and when an error occurs (like deadlock or any other error). The deadlock victim (process/transaction) is rolledback (from .NET). However the rollback command is not reaching SQL Server as it doesn't show
in the trace (through SQL Profiler).
To make things worse, not only the transaction is not being rolled back but the INSERTs executed before the error are being somehow committed, leaving the database in an inconsistent state.
This is only produced in one environment.
Any idea what the issue could be?All statements are executed with in a Transaction. Under the same scenario this code works perfectly fine for 1000s of customers. Only one customer has this issue.
You need to capture profiler to check transaction scope.

Windows 2003 SP2 = 2008 R2 SP1 Upgrade 62% Rollback
Hello,
we have to upgrade our Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64 (DC), to Windows 2008 R2 SP1.
Unfortunately, a clean install is not an option.
The server is a virtual machine. Therefore, first we make a clone, for a test upgrade, of the server.
Adprep and domainprep was successful. Problematic Software: Acronis, DaemonTools, Kasperksy.. is uninstalled.
Will upgraded with a clean iso, downloaded from the VLSC.
All Windows 2003 updates have been installed and a clean-boot (msconfig : MS services, no startup items), was done.
During the upgrade, we download the installation updates (Get important updates for installation).
The environment variable MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS = IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll was already tried in another upgrade.
We have the setupact.log (33MB) from the \$Windows folder.~ BT\Sources\Panther\ . But can't found the error.
The Upgrade stops at 62%:
Then the server reboots and performs a rollback :
What can we do?

Stopped at 62% is a common issue which could be caused by many factors.
First I suggest you to remove all unnecessary devices like printer, USB device etc.
Also try to uninstall drivers for hardware devices. I noticed that many applications are already deleted in troubleshooting process so check if any unnecessary program still exists.
If issue still exists, try check disk and SFC.
The last option is to perform an in-place upgrade with Windows Server 2003 and try the 2008 upgrade again.

Auto rollback with no error when upgrading windows server 2003 sp2 to windows server 2008 R2
Hi, I have a server needs to upgrade from windows server 2003 sp2 to windows server 2008 r2.
It should be supported from technet site
And yes, it went through all the list of upgrade. After rebooted, it told me "the upgrade was not successful, Your previous version of windows is being restored. Do not restart your computer during this time.".
Is there a place located the upgrade failure log? What's the common cause about the auto roll back?Thanks for the reply.

Error in installing CC&B 2.3.1 SP2
Hi,
I have CC&B 2.3.1 SP1 in my windows machine with Tomcat Server. I am trying to install SP2 but getting some error if i select some person or something in the control central. Installation didn't show up any error and server is staring up fine. Problem is CC&B is not loading any account or premise or any entity
for example, I am getting below error if i select any account. SP1 was working fine and tried to install SP2 twice but same issue. Has anyone successfully installed SP2 in Tomcat ? Any suggestions would surely help. Thanks

Office 2013 VL and app-v 5 SP2 on RDS server - package add fails with script error
We have used the MS Office Depolyment Tool for click-to-run to download the latest Office 365 version, and flatten it into an app-v 5 package - not a problem.
When we try to add the package to our client machine (Server 2008R2 running the app-v 5 SP2 client software), it fails with an message that a script has failed and not returned a 0 code. We have not added any scripting to this automatically created
package, so it seems that the app-v client does not like the "official" package. Any hints and tips gratefully accepted, thanks
App-v client has scripting enabled.

exited with failure error code: The extended attributes are inconsistent.. Because Rollback is set to true in the script definition, the current AppV Client operation was rolled back.
We believe this last error message is the kicker, but can't debug any further.Just to validate the problem, I started again.
I have just downloaded the latest ODT from MS, and then downloaded the latest Office 2013 packaged - volume license. Then created the app-v package - all went perfectly, no error messages. Uploaded the package to the app-v 5 server and published
it. I have made NO changes to any of the files.
I have just built a brand new Windows Server 2008R2 Datacentre VM, patched it to the hilt, and installed the RDS role, powershell 3 and appv 5.0 SP2 client for RDS.
I then use powershell as above:
scripting unrestricted
app v client scripting enabled
app v server added
global and user update enabled
add-appvclient package "url of office package.appv"
and received exactly the same error message.
It is not complaining that scripting is not allowed, it is complaining that the script is invalid.

BO XI 3.1 SP2 upgrade to SP3 Problem
Hi All,
I'm trying to upgrade our current BO XI 3.1 SP2 installation towards SP3.
The server it is running on has the following OS: Windows 2003 SP2 (32bit)
When performing the update, all goes well untill the point in the installation where it says "updating component registration"
immediatly when the installer enters this phase, I receive the following error:
Error 2908: Could not register component {73DDBFD1-3CEC-4DE2-AD1F-5D9354AE44D6}
Cancel - retry - ignore
When chosing ignore I receive a new error:
Error 1935: An error occured during the installation of assembly component {73DDBFD1-3CEC-4DE2-AD1F-5D9354AE44D6}
OK
When clicking OK, the installer rolls back and the update isn't performed.
note that when the installation is performed with the BO Admin user, I receive both error messages, when running the update with any other local admin user, only the second error (assembly component..) comes up.
Would anyone have an idea on how to solve this ?

I restarted the installation (with the same end result) and noticed that the log file is created once I click cancel to abort the installation.
The log file is 65MB big
After a huge search in the log file I found the latest entries before the rollback, actually the point where it fails:

Apple Mobile Device Support fails to install on Windows XP Pro SP2
I have a dualboot between my Vista and my XP, my itunes on Vista works great and can connect with my ipod touch (2.1) but on my XP the installation of AMDS fails. Tried completly re-installing all services, i searched the internet for possible solutions but it seems i'm the only one having problems with windows XP, all the other similar problems are on Vista.
I know it's AMDS that fails because i unpacked the .exe file and ran all the installers one by one, they all work except AMDS (i get a rollback feature). I downloaded it with 3 different browsers from the official apple site and to eliminate that it's my hard drive that gives errors i also did a CHKDSK.
Also, it's not my ipod either, it can connect to my Vista and other computers with windows XP.
All the latest drivers are installed and during the installation no CD/USB was inserted except my mouse, i even tried it with the CD tray open (sometimes helps). Safe mode also doesn't work
I have no idea what's wrong. Could anyone help me out?Hi,
good news: You're not the only one with this problem. Bad news: I don't have a solution either. To restrict possible answers here is what I did so far:
- computer was set up brand new with Windows XP Pro SP2
- iTunes installed, AMDS didn't, everything deleted after this, nothing (no iTunes, no Quicktime, no Apple updater) left on computer
- disconnected laptop from network, switched off firewall, switched off virus scan
- ran install package for AMDS only, as Johan described, install won't finish, files are first copied then everything gets rolled back (and no log found). This means the service is not existing, so the problem is NOT solved by going into services and switch it on ...

Let me explain the issue. I have CC&B 2.3.1 SP1 in my windows machine with Tomcat Server
I tried to install SP2, server is starting up fine but giving some error if i open some entities like account, SP, SA online. Then i tried to install SP2 from CC&B 2.3.1 (not SP1). This time server itself is not starting up.

I am upgrading my 2 node FCI cluster from SQL 2012 SP1 to SP2. I was able to update one node, then I did failover to the upgraded node but now I cannot update the other node (passive)

How many instances are installed in each node?
Open resource monitor and, in the disk section, check which files are being accessed by I/O threads. See if there are any files in use that the SP2 installer would supposedly try to access.
If possible, save the resource monitor results, failback the instance, and check disk usage in the other node to try to detect any abnormal disk access. -
Upgrade of Exchange 2007 SP2 rollup 5 to SP3
Hi,
We are trying to Upgrade Our Exchange 2007 server from todays SP2 With rollup 5 to the SP3 package.
During the installation it stops right after stopping all of the services and asks for the exchangeserver..msi file, if i point it the that file in the SP3 package it still just asks me for the file again.
Exchange Server is running on a Windows Server 2008 system
Any ideas of what the solution could be?

Its the problem with the installation file
Its better you download a fresh installation pack from the tech-net and start the upgrade and it will be successful probably the latest one below SP3 RU9

So we have a 2008 R2 SP2 Enterprise Edition db set up as a Mirrored/LogShipped pair. The mirror is syncronous and log shipping has a 2 hour delay to a remote site. The size of the db is 3 TB+
We plan to perform a system upgrade (mostly schema changes and some data) on a live system (downtime is not acceptable as the upgrade will run for about 8 hours). We have tested it thoroughly but, still need to plan for a comprehensive
rollback plan if at all needed..do plan to take a backup prior to our start
Questions :
1. Is backup and restore the best/fastest recovery solution for this db?
2. Other options that may be best practice so mirror and log ship target are rebuilt with min effort?Hello,

Risk and Rollback to assigning Static ports.
Good afternoon.
We have been using Exchange CAS servers using MSNLB for the past 3 years. Works well for us with a few bugs but now we are upgrading our virtual infrastructure and MSNLB is no longer really an option. Going through the process I see the requirements
of using static ports for RPC. I have a couple of questions.
What is the risk/outtage to users? I understand the RPC Client service gets restarted. Do users need to restart outlook? repair their profile? etc etc
To make the changes on SP1 and Later (we are SP2) it appears to be just adding the reg key and restarting the service. Is there a rollback procedure ? (delete the key and restart the service?)
Anyone have any issues in doing this?

So why the need for static ports? Isnt that just something the vendor recommends? I have never set static ports with a load balancer myself and its been fine.
