Rolling an edit point without removing dissolve?

Is there a way to roll or extend an edit point that you've placed a dissolve or other transition on,
without having to first remove the dissolve?

double click on transition in the timeline, your viewer & canvas screen will now show outgoing & incoming clips, click on left window to trim outgoing, centre bar to "roll" the edit or right for the incoming

  • Importing/copying edit points without combining them into a single clip

Am new to fcpx, I imported a clip and I am tring to import/copy all the edit points from a different clip's timeline to it's timeline without it joining all the edit points into a single clip. How do I do that?

Hi - thank you for replying, basicaly I am draging clips from the events browser into the timeline where I have been making my edits. So far I have an extended version of edits on the timeline and wanted to create a shorter version of the same edits without loosing the edits for the extended version.
So the way I am currently managing this is by creating a new event under the same project and then draging the clip (with all the edits from events browser) and droping it into the new event, in the events browser. This way I have a new copy of the same clip with all the edits preserved so that I can make changes to it after opening it on the timeline, this way without affecting the original extended version of edits which is now in a different event.
If there is a better way of doing this which I am not aware of, and as per your request I am adding an image of my timeline below :

  • Cannot speed clips up without it ruining edit points

Hi I am having real nightmares with Premiere. It just never seems to do even the most basic tasks properly.
I am simply trying to create a benny hill style spoof. I have cut the sequence at NORMAL speed. Then I selected all video clips in the sequence and chose Clip Speed Duration and put in 250%. I have tried both with Ripple Edit on and off. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Each time it speeds up the clips but the edit points maintain the exact same positions in time. In other words the whole sequence is screwed up because at 250% speed, each clip effectively runs longer and the edits are useless. What could it possibly think I mean when I speed up the clips and then tell it to ripple edits? I have absolutely no idea what is going on here? Is this yet another bug with this software. I have recently moved from Final Cut and never had any such problems in that tool. Does anyone know what is going on? I tried nesting the clips into one but then the option to set speed is not available so that's useless.
Thanks for any help or an explanation of why this is happening. This is CC2014 by the way

Ok I just worked it out. I have to click the link thing next to speed. I can't say I'm impressed with this usability though. If I have created edit points why would I want to trash them by speeding up a clip? Surely it makes complete sense to scale the edit as well. So if I'm speeding up all clips, logic would suggest that the sequence will be shorter surely. The way this works by default is completely non sensical in my opinion. Of course it may be that I accidentally activated this option and the default is to scale clips on changing duration. Any suggestions here?

  • Disable Edit Point Selection

An old thread turned back up recently and reminded me of this.  I know a lot of keyboard editors requested edit point selection and Adobe has catered to that request.  Unfortunately, a lot of us combo editors (keyboard/mouse) are now stuck with a feature that actually slows down the edit process.  I'd love to return to the way 5.5 worked in this regard - no edit point selection, and only Slide or Ripple edits available with the normal Selection tool (V), with Rolling edits requiring the switch to the Rolling Edit tool (N).  So, here is a Feature Request that can be copied/pasted into the Adobe form.
Please add a new option under Edit>Preferences>General... labeled "Allow Edit Point Selection".  With this option checked, Premiere Pro would function as it does in CS6 and the user would be able to select edit points in the sequence.  With it unchecked, Premiere Pro would function as it did in 5.5 and no such selection would be possible.
Regardless of how that box is checked, please remove the ability to perform Rolling Edits when the standard Selection Tool is being used (V) as it actually interferes when trying to access the normal Slide or Ripple edit functionality.  For Rolling Edits, we have a Rolling Edit tool.  We do not need that functionality doubled up.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

I canreally  understand why "drag and drop and mouse trim" (plus razor tool) editors might dislike Edit Point Selection functionality.
So...I dont mind if you guys do get your wish as regards making this an OPTION....but I do not want it to dissapear or get broken!
I am fine with Edit Points and have adapted to it by a simple change of how I "edit the cuts and trims".  I really like my new "edit style" but admit I also get caught by it occassionally.
In that regard....I wont support your Feature Request because I am fearful that something else will get broken in the process of fulfilling your wish.... or something else will change that I have to adapt to again.
    Good luck anyway.

  • Rejoin path without removing anchor handle?

Im wondering if it is possible to rejoin an open path without removing the bezier handle of the open point.
I find that I quick switch to the direct selection tool to rotate my previously placed anchor or some other quick edit, and then when I want to carry on with the path I click the last point, which has the adverse effect for me of turning the open point into a mixed curve/corner and I have to redrawn the open anchor handle. Photoshop doesn't behave like this when clicking on open anchors, you have to alt click to achieve such behaviour.
Is there something I'm missing to stop this happening?
    Thanks

    Dan,
Assume you're drawing a path with the pen, point-by-point, clicking to place corner points; clickDragging to place smooth points. You've just placed a smoothPoint, so both its handles are extended. Now you want to access the white pointer to make an adjustment to that most-recently placed anchor before continuing with the Pen.
Don't make a "hard switch" to the white pointer (by selecting the tool in the Toolbox or by tapping A). Instead, momentarily invoke it by pressing and holding the Ctrl key. Make the desired adjustment. Release the Ctrl key and the Pen comes back. Simply click or clickDrag where you want the next anchor; you do not have to click the last-placed anchor to resume drawing the path. Doing so, the outboard handle of the last-placed anchor will not be retracted.
If pressing Ctrl momentarily invokes the black pointer instead of the white pointer, that's because the black pointer is the one you most recently used before selecting the Pen. (That nonsense is part and parcel of AI's endlessly tedious two-selection-tool interface, to which AI still clings, despite its having been prooved both unnecessary and undesirable about three decades ago by FreeHand's far better selection interface.)
Pressing the Alt key similarly momentarily invokes the Convert tool to make adjustments, and releasing the Alt key lets you resume with the Pen (desipte AI's display of selected anchors failing to reflect that).

  • How do I remove the "TOC" btn in the playbar WITHOUT removing the TOC "Expand/Collapse" icon?

I am working in CP7 on a project with a Table of Contents that is set to 'Overlay'. The client has requested that I remove the "TOC" button in the playbar, without removing the TOC "Expand/Collapse" icon, so that the user can still hide/reveal the TOC when necessary. The only control I can find is the "Show TOC" checkbox under Project > Table of Contents. However, un-checking this option removes both the "TOC" button AND the "Expand/Collapse" icons. Is it possible to remove just the "TOC" button in the playbar?

If you are using SWF output you can always edit the playbar in Flash and remove it.
If HTML5 you can edit the JavaScript out put to remove the button from the playbar.

    (1) Look at *Chapter 26* here -> http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf
According to the info on page 213, if you have a "unified" contact, you can "Edit - Unlink" the one you want to eliminate. Then you can delete the contact you do not want without losing the one you want to keep.
Not a unified/linked contact; no link at the bottom of the contact info.
    (2) If a "Unified" contact is not causing your difficulty, we will need more information.
How you remove FaceTime contact information depends on the kind of contact you have and whether the contact is for an iPod touch or another iPhone.
As explained in the "Additional Information" here -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319 :
     • If the FaceTime contact is for an iPod touch, it will be an email address.
     • If the FaceTime contact is for another iPhone, it will be the iPhone's cell number.
Is the FaceTime contact info you are trying to remove an email address or a iPhone number?
Not an iPhone or iPod (it's an HTC Wildfire with Android). He has a normal cellphone number and an email addressat hotmail.co.uk
Note: the double listing is in favourites for the phone app, and the contact is not doubled-up in the Contacs app (just noticed now).
Neither of those articles were relevant to removing the "double listing" in favourites.

  • SCCM 2012 sync distribution point WITHOUT actuvating/using the second DP

    Hi,
Pls advise howto sync distribution points WITHOUT using the second one (to which is synced).
We only want to activate it after a full sync and in a controllerd manner (to test if it works fully correct).
Note: I removed it in the boundary group, tab references, site system servers for now. It is still active in the Distribution points underneath Administration.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

No, he's saying that if it's not included in a boundary group (and not enabled for fallback), then no clients will ever find it to be used. Clients locate and use DPs entirely based upon their association with a boundary group and the boundaries within
that boundary group. Thus, if its not part of a boundary group, client won't be able to locate it. Just because its active doesn't mean anything.

  • XP to Windows 7 Migration without removing CM07 Agents?

    Hello
There are no plans to migrate our old CM07 environment to CM12 so we need to support our existing CM07 clients during the migration to CM12. We need to use a State Migration Point to migrate all XP machines to Windows 7 (replace method). The majority of the
XP machines do not have a CM Agent installed so we need to deploy CM12 to these machines. However, there are a large number of XP machines that
do have a CM07 Agent and are still required to communicate with the legacy CM07 SCCM environment for inventory and software distribution purposes.
We understand that we cannot deploy the CM12 Agent to these machines because a machine cannot have 2 different versions of the CM Agent installed at the same time.  If so, how can we migrate these machines without removing the old CM07 Agent?
    Thanks
    Scott

If it has an 07 agent, it can only be managed by the 07 environment and therefore must be migrated to Win 7 from XP using the 07 site. There's no way around this.
Trying to do two major moves like this at the same time is a recipe for disaster.
You should finish one, then take on the other.

  • Pop Crackle Sound at Each Audio Edit Point

    Hello!
For the life of me I can't figure this one out.
I am working on a video using Final Cut 4.5. I am using audio that I have separated from the video image. At every AUDIO edit point (beginning or ending) I get a pop or crackle sound.
I have tried cutting out the ends of each segment but that does not help. The popping sound always occurs at the ends of each segment no matter how long or short they are. The audio was captured at 48khz, 16bit and was originally married to the video.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Ann

This happens everyonce in a while with me. At those points I'll add a 5 or 6 frame audio +3db dissolve. It should clean it right up.

  • Select Next Edit Point

Anyone notice a keyboard shortcut which will select the next edit point?
For example, with a series of still images, I would like to quickly move to the next edit point, insert the cross dissolve transition, move to the next edit point etc.
Currently I only seem to be able to manually move the cursor and and select the edit point.  Am looking for a keyboard shortcut to move quickly.
    Thanks.

    A Bit More.
I know that the up and down arrows move to the next edit point, but it is not "selected" to insert a transition there you have to click on the edit point first.
I am looking for a keyboard shortcut which will move to AND select the next edit point.

  • Trim shortcut doesn't always select edit points

Hello my trim mode shortcut isn't always working. When I press T, the majority of the time nothing happens. I've checked in my keyboard shortcuts and T is indeed the key for trim mode.
I've found that if I maually select edit points then press T it will go into trim mode, but only for that edit point. If I press up/down trim mode will go away until I select a edit point again.
If I press T and don't have any edit points selected the program doesn't respond at all.
Previously trim mode was working normally, but I've started a new project and I'm not sure why it stopped.
I have Adobe Premier CC and I'm pretty sure it's the latest version since I'm only 10 days into my trial.

    Ok I checked my version, it's 7.2.1 (4)
In this video at 1:43, he presses T without having any edit points selected and it selects an edit point.
    https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/dynamic-trimming-and-editing-with-the-keyboard
    That's what's wasn't working for me.
Today it seems to be working for me again, however I still don't know what I did to make it stop working yesterday. If there is something I did wrong I like to know so I know how to fix it if I have this problem again.
Either way thank you for the help.

  • Removing songs from itunes without removing them from ipod

Is it possible to remove songs from iTunes without removing them from iPod? When I attempt to delete songs from iTunes I get a warning that they'll be deleted from iPod as well. I've got Manually manage music and videos checked under Options in the Summary window.

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See these about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
    Buegie's complete back up strategy.
To move music from iPod to computer, check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
