Rolling Banners Jittery

We're just finishing up our first TVC (and we've done it entirely in Motion). The problem we're having is with a rolling banner along the bottom of the frame, which gives details for the concert, ticket hotlines, etc. The problem is that on output the banner text jitters as it moves across the screen. It's a a long text box that I've applied a Throw filter to. The position on screen is at whole numbers (meaning no .xx) for X and Y and the Throw filter's X Velocity is an even number. In addition the text box has an HSV filter on it because the client thought the text color was washed out. And it has a Deinterlace Filter set to Blend, which reduced the flickering problem we had. Tried Duplicate, but it made the situation worse. So the problem is that the text jitters as it moves across the X axis on-screen. Any suggestions of what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Hey Patrick, I tried that and it helped. I also tried playing around with field rendering, both in motion and on export. What finally seemed to resolve the problem was that I discovered the layer containing the banners was set to Normal rather than Combine. When I changed it to Combine, the probelm went away (or at least, was about 90 percent better than it had been). So does that mean it was a field rendering issue or something else? Curious.

Got myself in a bit of a muddle with scaling artwork... can someone help?

Hi, hoping someone can help.
I'm mainly a web designer but am having to create some exhibition / large scale artwork which I've never done before.
Anyhow, I've got myself in a bit of a pickle with my InDesign artwork - i'm working on some roller banners and a 3D popup exhibition display. I've been told to provide the artowrk at 50% the final size.
However - and this is where I've convinced myself I'm doing it wrong - if the artwork is 50% size, and I've been told to add a 5mm bleed to the top, right and left sides but a 125mm bleed to the bottom, I don't halve these as well, do I?

No. Use their bleed measurements when you set up the document at whatever the 50% size is. So if the document is to be 8 foot long and you make the 50% 4 foot long, add the 5mm bleed to the L/R/T edges and the 125 mm to the bottom edge of the 4 foot long document.

Replacement for OVI Share when using iWeb

I'm busy migrating all my iWeb / MobileMe sites to HE but I have received an e-mail from Nokia advising that OVI Share is being discontinued on May 30. I use this service (as recommended in this forum a long time ago) to create rolling banners of photos. Can anyone recommend an alternative service - free or paid that does this simply.

Note that you can also create a "banner" in apps such as iPhoto and Keynote and export to QuickTime.
Create a fixed timing slideshow, export and use one of the many different ways to implement a movie on a web page...

Need help fixing jittery rolling credits for 23.98 sequence

I'm working on an DVC PRO HD project shot 23.98, 960x720. I'm working native 23.98 in Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and am trying to do a credit roll with both centered text lines, and justified text with the gap running down the middle.
I've created the text template in photoshop and imported into FCP. After applying the motion settings, the file renders out just fine in 29.97 but low and behold, when I do the same motion settings in my 23.98 sequence, the text is jittery as all... Bad artifacts and strobbing.
I tried using the Photoshop file in Motion and Live Type using the unrendered file project in FCP. Tried rendering 23.98 in After Effects. No go. Same ugly results.
Tried the usual in FCP-- appying de-interlace, flicker filter, shift fields, changing the length of the roll and also adjusting the motion points... no help at all. Tried using a smooth rolling exported 29.97 media file into the 23.98. Echk!
I'm running MacPro 2.66 w/ 3GB Ram. Also have the KonaLHe hooked up to my NTSC for preview.

Yep, tried all that too. Changed keyframe positions, also changed length of the clip. Who knows... maybe never hit the right configuration. I ended up laying the show off to 29.97 and insert editing the 29.97 credit roll. Worked out perfectly although I'm still miffed nothing seemed to work in 23.98 land for smooth credit rolls. Thanks for the help.

Notification banners get stuck/freeze IOS8 & Facebook only recognises non existent camera roll

Updated my iPhone 5 to IOS 8 yesterday, and I have noticed a few clear bugs, such as Facebook and other apps still connect to your 'camera roll', which now, annoyingly doesn't exist, so you can only post pictures to Facebook from this 'camera roll' folder which is now 'recently added', which only shows and lets you add/upload pictures taken within the last 30 days.
But one of the most annoying bugs I have found is that the notification banners which pop up such as text messages, whats app messages and facebook notifcations/messages, freeze sometimes and I cannot swipe the banner off my screen. I have searched the internet and others are experiencing the same problem, can Apple fix this please?! Is anyone else experiencing this problem? any ideas from anyone ?

The issues related to the 3rd party apps (ex: Facebook) should be resolved when the developer of THAT application updates their app to support iOS 8. Regarding the notifications, you can go to settings, notifications, and change the type of notification to banners (which disappear on their own after a few seconds), or off, if they are getting stuck. Again, that may have to do with the 3rd party apps not being updated to run with iOS 8.

Jittery videos in iPhoto '11

1080p videos taken with my Canon PowerShot 230HS are jittery when played in iPhoto. If I copy the video from iPhoto to the desktop and play in Quicktime or VLC they play fine.
I am using a 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook, 4 GB RAM, 7200 RPM 320 GB HD (15 GB free), Mac OS X 10.6.8 with iPhoto '11 (version 9.2.1 (628)).
Any ideas?

Have you ever had any? What version of iPhoto? What has recently changed? Are they in your camera roll on the iPhone?

Jittery video on dissolves

I'm trying to dissolve between photos of keyframed digital photos. The problem is the video is jittery on the dissolve. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've made sure it's rendered and have 15 frames of "pre-roll" on each clip-- but no luck.

So, if they all have checkmarks did you render by using Option R.
You should.
If that doesn't work can you describe the jitter better.
Also info on footage and sequence settings is needed then.

Emails from camera roll saved to wrong folder -- IMAP Path Prefix Problem

I think there's a problem with the behaviour of the way picture emails are saved when you have an IMAP Path Prefix.
I have an IMAP Path Prefix of "INBOX"... i.e. my sent folder is Inbox/Sent. Any plaintext emails I send from the email application from the iPhone are correctly saved to that folder and I can see them in that folder immediately via the iPhone's interface.
When I navigate to the camera roll or photo album and send a picture email to somebody, and use the iPhone to go view the sent folder, they never appear in the sent folder. For a while I thought they weren't being saved at all, but I just discovered from my home PC that the camera roll app is indeed saving them somewhere: in Inbox/Inbox/Sent.
That's right--I now have a new Inbox folder inside my Inbox folder, with just a Drafts and Sent folder. Drafts is Empty, Sent has all the picture emails I've ever sent with the iPhone.
Bug? I think so... Emails emanating from the camera app are taking the IMAP Path Prefix twice instead of once, and then creating that Path Prefix folder if it doesn't already exist.
Anybody else with an IMAP Path Prefix experiencing this with picture emails from the camera roll?

Ahhh interesting to find someone else with the same problem! It definitely happens when you send a photo message. My mac mail it shows my Inbox with a new nested sent items folder. I am using fusemail and the iPhone seriously messes with the folder structure. All sent items folders vanished for some reason on the mail server (but not in mac mail oddly) and I had to call technical support to make them reappear. I think this happened when I altered the Settings, Mail, Advanced settings, Mail box behaviour folders after having this problem with sent photo messages.
Now fusemail's webserver shows TWO Inboxes, one nested inside the other, and a "Sent Items" folder within the "new" inboxes.
Totally strange. I think there is a bug or two in the iPhone's IMAP software. Hoping for a bug fix soon, but until then perhaps a good work around might be to set the iPhone to store sent messages locally?

AiO remote can't send multiple photos to camera roll

After scanning 25 photos using AiO remote I want to send them to camera roll, but have to send each photo one at a time?
I can press edit which allows me to select all, but this does nothing, except DELETE? Also can't email multiples or send them to Dropbox in multiples, is that weird or what?
Any know how to contact HP about this? It does need fixing.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the AiO app. I will be sure to direct this to the AiO app team.
In answer to your questions....
The app is working as designed. There is no current option to allow to multiple seletions to be copied to the gallery. The current design is to be done one at a time.
When emailing an attachment, you need to:
     1. make sure that your email is set up
     2. tap the share button while viewing the image, document or saved file
     3. tap email, compe and send the meail message
This allows for only the one image, document or file to be attached to the email. Again, the app is working as designed.
Again, I will direct your feedback regarding the additional features to the AiO app. Thank you for taking the time to post.

How can I moving photos from one roll to an other

I tried to drag and drop photos from one roll to an other. If the roll has a lot of photos (e.g. 250) I can not scroll down to a roll below. iPhotos does not automatically scroll down when I try to drag them down.
How can I scroll or move these down?

Drag and drop will work, but you have to drag to the roll title. It will turn blue when you can drop the photos. It should scroll when you move to the top or bottom of the window, but sometimes it gets going really fast and is hard to stop where you want it.
An easy way is to close the rolls and make everything as small as possible so the the source and destination rolls are all in the window at the same time. Of course if you have a really big library this might work.

Why is my iCloud backup for photos 3.3 Gbs but I only have 12 photos in my camera roll?

After purchasing my iPhone 4S I performed a restore from backup that I had from my iPhone 4 (running iOS 4.3.5). Prior to doing this restore, I did not realize that my photos were not being synchronized from my iOS device and saved in that backup. So, the hundreds of photos I had on my iPhone 4 were lost in the transfer to my 4S; but then I noticed something odd. Upon closer inspection of my iCloud backup, my storage usage says my camera roll is taking up 3.3 Gbs of my backup! When I did the backup, I had only taken about 12 pictures on my 4S, there was absolutely no way those photos were taking up 3.3 Gbs of space. I was hoping that after synchronizing with iCloud that I would see all my old photos slowly pour in from the Photo Stream; but to no avail.
Is it possible that my iPhone 4 photos were in fact carried with that restore from backup, but are not showing up in my camera roll? If so, how do I retrieve my photos? So many lost memories!

That's odd. I can't imagine what else would take up so much space.

.. appdata and settings of apps, "preferences", saved games "levels reached" , and downlaoded stuff that are stored within an app ", for example videodownloading app that has stored content in the iOS are uploaded ..
Apps themself /Books/Music/etc are not uploaded to your personal cloud, they are held back by Apple in the store for future re-downloading options. So this can't also be the culprit.

My Ipod Classic (160G) no longer synchs completely with iTunes (93G). Have reset and restored to no avail. AM about to try roll back to a previous version of iTunes, which has been on auto update.

Recently, there seem to be fewer folders syncing. In particular, it is not syncing more recent adds. It also occassionally refuses to sync at least one mp3 downloaded from Amazon.com, giving an unable to sync message with an error code or 50.
I'm running iTunes version 10.7, and the software (2.04) on myiPod is current.
I only use the iPod for music. I have only one playlist.
Reset and restore did not fix the problem; I'm considering rolling back to a previous version of iTunes. Are there any other ideas to consider?

iTunes and its sync process with your iPod have been know to choke once the amount of data that needs to be transferred, replaced, or updated, reaches a certain size limit in GBs.

Apple Mobile Device Service installation rolls back

I've been having problems installing iTunes 9 or even 8 on my computer. While running the iTunes setup, part of the installation rolls back and when I launch iTunes after that, I get the message saying that
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
However, the installation doesn't work no matter how many times i reinstall it. I've fully uninstalled everything related to apple and used the microsoft's utility to check if they were properly uninstalled before reinstalling itunes, but I still got the same message.
I found out that Apple Mobile Device Service was not installed and that was the problem. When i extracted AppleMobileDeviceService.msi from the iTunes installer and ran it, it rolled back too. So I used the /l*v command to create an installation log and this is the error.

I have recently been fighting my system to get itunes to recognise my iphone and i ran into a similar problem.
I couldnt uninstall the old version of apple mobile device support, and installing the new itunes over the top did not seem to help either.
But i found a work around.
Try opening the itunes.exe install package with winrar. (www.winrar.com, its a free program) and then extracting only the applemobiledevicesupport.exe file.
Reboot your system, run that file and then reboot again.
It should work.

Camera roll is no longer being copied to my computer.

Up until last week, my computer would copy my iPhones camera roll when I plugged in my phone to my computer using the USB cord. My computer used to see my phone as apple iPhone in "my computer". I haven't changed any settings in autoplay. I uninstalled iTunes and everything associated with it, but my computer still doesn't copy my camera roll nor does my computer see my apple iPhone. ITunes syncs my phone just fine, but I'd like to get my photos off my phone without having to delete every picture. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks!

This has nothing to do with iTunes. iTunes is not involved with the importing of photos from your iPhone's Camera Roll.
Have you tried using the Windows scanner and camera wizard?
When there are photos in your iPhone's camera roll, it should be detected as a digital camera also when connected to your computer.
What do you use on your computer for importing photos from any other digital camera?

Hi, if I store my entire Camera Roll on iCloud, and I have an additional storage plan that allows me to back up more data to iCloud then I can store on my iPhone, and then I delete pictures from my Camera Roll on my device, because I'm running out of space, will the backed up picture still be in iCloud?

The Camera Roll is only kept in the iPhone backup, while it is a backup, it is not a good place to keep your irreplaceable photos. If you lose photos and sync before you realize it, the old backup is replaced with a new backup which doesn't have the photos you lost. In my opinion even the iPhone backup should not be considered as a soul backup but more of a fast way to recover a messed up device. All content you do not want to lose should have multiple backups on your computer along with it's backups.
Photo Stream also has limitations and with many of the iCloud features it is intended more for sharing and syncing content between devices rather than backing it up.
Camera Roll on iOS devices should be treated like the old film cameras. Once you take pictures you should "develop" them on your computer and organize them using software on your computer. Keep the Camera Rool clean and only holding new photos till you can get them into the library on a computer. The organized photos can then be syncing back to Photos on an iOS device for showing off. Once on the computer these photos should then be backed up to external drives and optional cloud services such as Carbonite.
