Rolling screen

I used to connect my late 2007 MBP (10.5.8) to a Sony tv and stream Netflix, close the lid and wake up the MB with the remote and it worked perfectly. But recently, not sure if due to an upgrade, when I wake up the MB and it detects the tv, the image starts rolling. When both the tv and the MB are on, the tv works fine. I tried changing the NTSC/PAL settings for all different resolutions, to no avail. I tried connecting to another tv (which worked before), but the same issue happens. I went to the Genius Bar today and all he did was reset the PRAM but the issue continues. Did anyone have the same issue?

I realized I forgot to mention that I'm using a mini-display to S-video adapter and I'm on 10.5.8. I was going to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but did not want to change before solving this issue, otherwise I wouldn't know what was the actual cause for the problem. I also tried rebooting from the disk, creating another user and running a hardware check.
Does anyone have the same issue or might know what is causing the screen to roll?
Thanks for any tips...

  • Rolling screen HP Pavilion dv4 1540us - 64 bit 4GB Windows 7 Home Premium

The screen on my laptop has started rolling intermittently. It rolls more when I first turn it on or after I have closed it and open it back up. Most of the time it goes from constant rolling, to slower rolling and eventually it stops. What can be done for this?

If you want to fix this problem the simplest thing to do is buy a Dell.  Seriously though it probably isn't the computer at all.  It might be your home\office power.  We are seeing this same issue.  Our troubleshooting shows that if the end user is using a 3 prong power cable they have this problem if they are using a 2 prong power cable they are not.
It's odd because normally the power brick will even out the issues with surges but for some reason it is not.
You can try removing the drivers and letting them reinstall but chances are it won't resolve this problem.  Atleast it didn't resolve it for our employees.

  • Rolling screen on mac book pro

My screen has begun rolling from the bottom up.
I occurs just in the open page - not the menu bar. Sometimes it will stop - like when I open my gmail or anothe web page. It will not stop when I try to compose an email or when I have to fill in a form in Ancestry.com. But, interestingly, it's fine filling in this form.
    Any ideas?

  • Grey 'rolling' screen when using external hard drive

    Hi,
I have the mid 2009 MacBook, and recently started having issues when plugging my 500GB Seagate external hard drive into the usb ports. I plug it in, it shows up in finder with the name, but when I click on it to view the contents, the grey screen comes rolling down and asks me to hold down the power button to reboot.
I tried reinstalling Snow Leopard (I'm on 10.6.4) but it hasn't worked.
    Would appreciate any ideas.

What are seeing is a kernel panic*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
Since it only happens when plugging in your external hard drive, it sounds like either there is a hardware issue with the ports, the drive has specific software that has not been tested with Snow Leopard for connecting the drive, or issue with the cables you are connecting with. Follow my tip for isolating your issue.

  • [Solved] Getting a rolling screen while booting from installer

So, this problem is one that originally existed for me with the latest Ubuntu stable live CD.  It did not happen with an old Live CD I had from 2007.  I ended up trying the netboot install CD for Arch because I've been thinking of switching to this distro anyway, and when I saw the same problem happening I thought I'd come here.  I gave this preamble because it might help point to where the issue is (something in more recent versions of the kernal maybe?)
So here's what happens.  I boot from the 64 bit netinstall CD.  It goes along the boot process fine until I get to:
Waiting for udev events to be processed
Note, I'm only pretty sure that's what it says, as I have to write it down from my own memory as the screen is unreadable after that point.
A bit after that the screen starts scrolling rapidly, like it's out of sync or something.  I can't really read anything on the screen because it's scrolling so fast.
In terms of hardware I have an older 64 bit system, with a video card going to an analog TV (old style, not HD).  I think I can get more hardware info from the install CD from the menu before it actually gets to booting up the system, if there is some sort of specific information that would help.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

It booted fine fully installed with an older version of Ubuntu that I ended up breaking in a totally unrelated issue.  Rather than trying to restore what was left I thought I'd just install from scratch.  And I haven't tried a monitor hooked up, because that would require a lot of lugging things around and whatnot.
I'm going to try http://schlunix.org/archlinux/iso/2009. … so.torrent and see if that works, and if so setting up that framebuffer console.

  • Mac mini with rolling tv screen

I hooked up my mac mini to my tv and I get a rolling screen. I tried changing the display by using a monitor, but when I go back to the tv, it keeps doing the same thing. Please help.

This is likely caused by the mini failing to correctly detect the TV, thus having a resolution and refresh rate setting which the TV doesn't support.
    Try:
Booting the mini with no display attached and waiting until sufficient time has elapsed for MacOS to load and the desktop to appear, then connect the TV.
If that doesn't work, boot into safe mode (hold the shift key down while booting) until the desktop appears. If this allows it to display correctly, open the display preferences and set a resolution and refresh rate your TV is known to work with.
If that doesn't work, boot the system with the other monitor attached, and when running, use the finder to search for 'windowserver'. Delete all files it finds and then reboot with the TYV connected.

  • After updating my software to iOS 6 when I take a photo in an app on my iPhone such as Instagram and camwow when the photos go my camera roll they are black..why?

After updating my software to iOS 6 when I take a photo in an app on my iPhone such as Instagram and camwow when the photos go my camera roll they are black..why?

I upgraded an iPhone 4 from IOS 4 to IOS 6 and had similar problems here is what I did.
    Problem:
Using the Camera App from the initial screen (a view finder for me) there is an icon on the lower left side with my last photo taken.  When I select this icon the image is displayed and on the upper left side of the screen the Camera Roll button appears.
I select the Camera Roll button and all my images show up as black on a white background.  I can select a black square and my image will apear.
Using the Instagram App when I try to select from my Camera Roll I see the same black boxes, and Instagram is not saving photos to my Camera Roll.
    Fixing Instagram not saving problem:
    Go to Settings:Privacy:Photos
Move the Instagram slider to ON
Back to the images not showing in the Camera Roll.
Someone suggested doing a reset (hold down sleep and home button for 10 seconds).  After doing the reset the problem was worse.  From the Camera App selecting the last photo icon from the view finder screen and the Camera Roll screen apears but says there are no saved images.
Fixing the Camera Roll not showing correctly problem:
Set Settings:General:Restrictions to ON (You will be prompted to create a password)
    Select Settings:General:Restrictions ON>
Toggle the Camera slider to ON if it isnt already
This worked for me. Your milage may vary.  Good luck.

  • Macbook to TV, Works fine until I put the Macbook to sleep then tv display

Macbook to TV, Works fine until I put the Macbook to sleep,
I wake the Macbook with external keyboard and the display shows up on TV just fine for a second or two then it looks like something changes and then it starts rolling.
It does not do this when Macbook is awake it only does it after it's put to sleep.

Probably the resolution is switching from a mirrored resolution to some other resolution that the TV can't work from. Try this; shut down the MacBook. Cable up the TV to the MB and also the external keyboard and mouse. Hold down the Shift key on the external keyboard, hit the start button on the MacBook and immediately close the lid on the MB after you've hit the start button. Continue holding the Shift key down on the external keyboard until you see the grey screen with the spinning gear at which time you can release the Shift key. The MB should now finish starting up in Safe mode with only the external screen being on. Hopefully the screen will not be rolling.
Once the MB finishes booting, go into System Preferences/Displays and set the resolution to the optimal/desired resolution for your TV. Hopefully this choice will stick through subsequent restarts and also correct the issue of the rolling screen under the conditions in the scenario you described.

  • Macbook to Component YPbPr?

    Hello everyone,
I have a black macbook 4,1. I am wanting to connect it to my Really old Mitsubishi tv that only has a YPbPr component connection for HDTV. I wondering how i need to set this up.
from what it looks like, i need to connect it by Mini-DVI to VGA and run it through a VGA to component converter like this
    http://sewelldirect.com/VGA-to-HDTV-Converter.asp
and obviously component to the television.
i know the audio is separate.
    is this the best setup?

Probably the resolution is switching from a mirrored resolution to some other resolution that the TV can't work from. Try this; shut down the MacBook. Cable up the TV to the MB and also the external keyboard and mouse. Hold down the Shift key on the external keyboard, hit the start button on the MacBook and immediately close the lid on the MB after you've hit the start button. Slow Mac, and a weird rolling screen on Face Time.   Memory has been doubled to 4GB.   Caches dumped in trash and emptied.  Help.  It's really slow.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

  • Photo Edit (Constrain) Failed

After constraining one of my photos on Photo Gallery on the iPhone 5, there isn't a crop button at the top right-hand corner to confirm the cropped picture and return to Gallery. So effectively, whenever I open Photo Gallery, I'm stuck with the screen of the photo I was trying to constrain, with Constrain options at the bottom of the screen as per usual, but no way of confirming/leaving that display to go back to the rest of my photos in Photo Gallery!
Has anyone come across this problem, and what do you think I should do?

I was stuck on the constrain screen as well.  I was able to fix the issue by doing the following:
    Double click the home button.
Click the minus icon on the photos app the close it.
    Click home button again.
    Restart Photo app.
It should open to your camera roll screen (that's what I had my photos app on prior to editing and getting stuck in constrain mode).
When editing a photo, the constrain icon is at the bottom.  Crop is grayed-out until you change the size of the photo.  Then it highlights the crop icon at the top right of the screen.
    HTH.

  • Audio not showing up in audio track editor - Logic X

Logic XI was doing everything right and then my audio quit showing up in the audio track editor. It shows in the Audio File Editor, but when I click over, having already activated "flex" nothing shows up, just the empty grid. The project is pretty big. Is my computer just refusing to do any more flex edits?
    I'm working in OSX 10.9.5 on a 2009 iMac.
    Thanks for the help.

You certainly have a problem if you are seeing a vertical piano keyboard in the audio editor window...
You only see the vertical piano keyboard in the Piano Roll (Midi) window....
So are you talking about editing audio or midi data.....?
If it's midi... then click the link icon so its yellow...on a brown background.. to link the midi region with the Piano Roll screen....

    MobileMe has taken several steps backwards with this update;
    1. when uploading to mobileMe, I can no longer send a CC to another email address at the same time.
    2. you are now required to type in a name for each photo before you can publish it.
    3. when in the camera roll screen, if you select more than one (1) picture, then you lose the 'send to mobileMe' option
please let me know if I am just missing something.

You can publish successfully, if you uncheck the option of adding photos via email.

  • Videos captured on ipod

Is there a way to watch the videos I captured on my ipod on my computer? How do I delete the videos from the ipod?

    Hello bluejester12,
Is there a way to watch the videos I captured on my ipod on my computer?
You will first have to navigate to your iPod's DCIM folder using *Windows Explorer*. Just locate your iPod's drive in "My Computer" and then double click on the DCIM folder and choose the appropriate video and it should play in Quicktime or your default movie player.
How do I delete the videos from the ipod?
You can delete them directory on the iPod, or by navigating to your iPod's DCIM folder and deleting there manually.
    *To delete a recorded video:*
*1 Go to Videos > Camera Videos and select a video from the list, or select a video from the Camera Roll screen.*
*2 Press and hold the Center button until a menu appears. 3 Choose Delete, or Delete All.*
