Rollover Formatting

I have text on my site that says "Download PDF" that is a link to my resume in PDF format. I formatted the link in the hyperlink tab to that the text stays white but is underlined when rolled-over. The problem is, after the link is clicked, the underline does not appear when the link is rolled-over. This is because I don't have the underline option turned on for links that have been visited because I don't want it to stay underlined after it has been visited.
How do I get the text to stay white with an underline when it is rolled-over all of the time. Whether it has been visited or whatever.
Here is a link to my site if you want to see my problem. Click on the resume button and the "Download PDF" link is on the right. http://www.j4creative.com

From my experience (and I stand ready to be corrected) you can't. Once a linked is clicked it is registered in the browsers cache so it will always show as visited. In CSS there is only an option for hover, visited, active and (in effect) yet to be clicked on. So your link will come under the Visited part of the stylesheet.

  • Link 'visit' format stops 'rollover' format from working...

    Hi everyone,
I'm certain that I'm just being a dunce, but the following issue is driving me round the bend!
I have a website that seems to be working well. However, I'm having problems formatting the the style of links I create. Simply, when I create a 'visited link' style it doesn't just override the 'normal link' style but it also overrides the 'rollover link' style.
As you can imagine, this means that once someone has visited a link, in the future the rollovers stop working... reaaally annoying.
Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening!
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Hi mma,
I think his requirement is something like he has 2 columns "URL" & "URL-Description"
    like... htttp://www.google.com & Google sight...
but he don't want to show the url directly instead he will show description column and when he click on the description of google i.e. "Google Sight" it should navigate to the google sight... :-)
Hope i am correct... but no on-fly answer.. ;)

  • Rollover formatting problem

My navigation bar links are formatted a certain way. When I manually link each of those links to it's respective page, the formatting changes to bright purple with an underscore. Note: this doesn't happen when you clink on the link (like a rollover light up), it happens when I link it.
    Why would this be happening?
    Thanks

    thanks Beth
I knew that was what it was, but I got confused over how to fix it

  • Hyperlinks,  "visited" format not working.

I hyperlinked all pages with 5 links to choose. They started out correctly with the "normal" format color . They registered correctly with "Rollover" format color. They all returned to the "normal" format color rather than the new "Visited" format color. We checked all pages and checked the set up of both the "hyperlink" and the "format" function on each page.

You should contact Microsoft for Mac Support  and/or post in their forums.

  • Can't Remove Hyperlink

I have a number of text frames on a page. For some of them, the text they contain should be a hyperlink (to another site page); for the others, they should not be hyperlinks.
When I need to change text from being a hyperlink to not being one, I select the entire text and click the "x" to the right of the "Hyperlink" combo box in the toolbar. The text in the box changes to "Add or filter links". However, when I republish the site the link is still there. If I go back to selecting the text in question (i.e. the text which needs to be changed to no hyperlink) I sometimes see vestiges of the old link in the Hypertext combo box, sometimes I'll see it if I click somewhere in the text, sometimes I won't. Regardless, no matter how many times I select the text and click the "x", the hyperlink remains when the site is published.
As a test, I deleted the text frame and the text it contains, added a new frame in the same place and the hyperlink was gone. However, I have a lot of text frames, precisely placed, and I don't want to have to do this multiple times. Besides, I'm not certain that if I make a hyperlink I'll be able to remove it in the future.
Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior?
    v7.2, Build 232, CL 779928.
    Thanks in advance.

Vinayak:  Well, your suggestion helped finally resolve the issue but there are still aspects of it I'm not comfortable with (not your fault, of course). For example, even after I selected the hyperlinked text and cleared the hyperlink reference, I could still click various points in the text with the text tool and the hyperlink reference would reappear.
Regardless, yes, the textbox WAS linked, I selected it and cleared the hyperlink reference; however, the underlining of the text still appeared when I previewed the page (although the "hand" didn't materialize, indicating the hyperlink was removed). I had to manually go into the States panel and clear the Rollover formatting. Once I did those things (selected the textframe, cleared the hyperlink reference, cleared the "Rollover" formatting in the States panel), things previewed fine. I'm not going to go back in and click the text to see if the hyperlink reference reappears, I don't care at this point.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Hyperlink color not showing up

I can get the hyperlink to be a color when I'm editing/composing a blog entry; but when I publish it, it looks black until you roll over it. You can't even tell it's a hyperlink unless you would accidentally roll over it. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem with hyperlink colors viewed in Safari 3.1.2, whether Normal or Rollover Format. Firefox 3.0.1 displays the colors as formatted in iWeb. I was having this issue prior to and still with iWeb 2.0.4. Click here to see what I mean and look at the links in the text box. I have the Normal color set to Midnight and the Rollover color set to Steel in iWeb.
Update; Actually, Firefox is not displaying the colors 100% either. At the bottom of the text box where it says photo gallery and resume, photo gallery is not in the Midnight color.

  • Problems exporting rollover 'states' into Dreamweaver, and loss of font formats

    Hi
I am quite new to Fireworks and am having a little difficulty with some aspects of it.
I am building a miltiple page site, and am exporting using the the 'export CSS and Images' option from Fireworks CS4 to Dreamweaver CS4.
I have applied some 'swap image behaviour' to the links on the Master Page.
However When I try to export to Dreamweaver I get the following message:
"Only sliced images from the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and behaviour attributes will be ignored."
Obviously I want the states (swap image) functionality to be exported so that the javascript rollovers work. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Also, when I export the pages into Dreamweaver, I have noticed that the font formatting is lost e.g. <h1> format style etc So an orange <h1> font title, with black outline, will not retain that formatting in Dreamweaver (it actually renders as white, which is the same as the <p> font elements.). I do know how to alter the CSS to render a different colour in Dreamweaver: but its the character outline that I cannot reproduce by manipulating the CSS (I don't know how to anyway....).
Also, once a 'Master' page has been created, will all other pages within the document automatically inherit the functions and settings as per the Master Page. Or do I need to link each page to the Master Page in order for them to inherit its functionality and settings? I'm particuarly thinking about the states/rollover issue again here i.e. Will I need to set under/over states on each individual page or do I just need to set it once on the Master page?
    Thanks for your help.

Q1:  There. Is no way to resolve this in Fireworks. You'll have to export the other states manually and build the rollovers in dreamweaver.
Q2:  Again, *if* there us a widely supported CSS option fir text outlining you have tomanually apply it to the code in Dreamweaver.
Q3:  Hyperlinks and graphics on the master page should be applied to all child pages.
Fireworks is not a true web page editor. Keep this in mind. It is a graphics tool fulirst and foremost. The CSS and HTML features are not nearly as robust as Dreamweaver.   Hope this helps

  • Adobe Captivate 7 Project How to make Rollover cations, audio, and video work in HTML format?

Adobe Captivate 7 Project How to make Rollover cations, audio, and video work in HTML format?

Honestly, I don't even know why this is an option. The conversion to Flash is completely unusable.
I have exported some things to Flash, and since I program in Flash all the time I was able to manipulate to work to some degree. Most text captions are built with multiple elements and completely fall apart.
Sorry, I can't be of more help.

  • Rollover areas slow to show in html/pdf format

    Hi
I have a series of rollover shapes with text appearing when the user hovers over the shapes. However when viewing the learning in pdf/html it takes a good 10 seconds or longer for the rollover function to appear,  if at all. It's only happening with this one slide which only consists of shapes and rollovers. Any ideas?
    Thanks
Not currently allowing me to upload image to support this questionl... will continue trying

Perhaps something on your slide has become corrupted.
Take a backup copy of your project, then try this:
Create a new blank project CPTX of the same dimensions as your current project and copy/paste all slides into the new shell project.  Then test to see if the issue remains in the new project.
If it does remain, try dragging groups of objects off stage into the scrap area so that they will not be published with the output and test publish again to see if removing certain objects seems to resolve the issue.
If there are any Advanced Actions on this slide, delete them and see if that makes a difference.
Let us know how this works out.

  • Why does my page loose formating when i add a text link on an image box?

I wanted to make my own nav with texts links.  but i wanted to put the nav on an image like a black box.  when i add the text and then link them to pages they started to work when i previewed them in iweb.  But when i uploaded it to my ftp it messed up the formating on my page!  So I tried to add a new text box without a link on the same image... now it doesn't even show up.  What is the general rule of text on images? all i want to do is make a text nav on the image. Also i have made sure the image is sent back and the text to front.

I don't know if you've fixed them since michaelfromrochester's suggestion but all of the links are white with green rollover for me now.
If you haven't fixed them the clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reload the site.

  • Iweb Hyperlink Format not working!

    Hello,
I am using version 3.0.3 of iWeb. I think this must be the latest version.
No matter what I do, I cannot get the FORMAT tab to do anything within the hyperlinks section of the inspector.
Let's I want to change the color of how a button behaves (rollover, click etc), I click on that element (text, box, anything), I select Inspector, I go to hyperlink tab, and the FORMAT subtab is not working.
Has anyone else had this issue?
What do i need to do??
    I'm totally frustrated.
    Thanks

    Hello Old Toad,
Thanks for your response, but believe me, i've tried EVERYTHING.
I've selected Text, I've highlighted the text, I've gone to the INSPECTOR window, selected the hyperlink tab, and the FORMAT TAB always remains INACTIVE: i.e. all the buttons are dark grey and do nothing when I press them.
I paid for this software upgrade also (iLife 11).
I really like iWeb actually, it produces what I want, except this formatting of URLs (and perhaps sub-menus).
Im getting really desperate to find why my FORMAT of hyperlinks is not working.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop Button in Active State Returns to Normal After Rollover?

    Hello,
I'm working on a glossary reference website in Muse, and have hit a roadblock with my photoshop buttons.
I have created menu buttons in Photoshop that have two different states - one for active and rollover, and another for normal and down (the button is actually saved with four different layers/states, one for each, but for what the user will see, it's really only two options). I've used these menu buttons as rollover triggers for blank compositions, and when the user rolls over the button, the name of the page appears below it, and then disappears on rollout (otherwise the names would overlap and it would look very cluttered).
The issue that I have found is that, when I preview the page in my browser, the buttons appear to function properly in that they show up in the active state indicating that the page that they are linked to is the one that they are on.
    Initial View - Home Page:
...and when I rollover the image of the page that I am currently on, the button shows the name of the page as desired, like so:
However, when I rollout, the button reverts back to the normal/down state, even though I am still on the home page.
Below is a screenshot of the composition settings that I have set up for this widget. I tried switching the "Hide Target" to none, but since the target is referring to the word "Home", the word "Home" remained visible in addition to the button remaining in the active state, which is not what I want. I also tried selecting "Triggers on Top", but the issue was not solved here either.
What am I missing? How can I make sure that my button remains in the active state when on the page that it is linked to?
    Thanks for your help!
    Rachel

Sounds like a bug that's the fallout of the overloaded meaning of "Active" state. "Active" is both the state used for an item with a hyperlink applied that points to the current page (or an anchor point in the current scroll range on the current page) and the state used for a trigger or thumbnail in a Composition or Slideshow widget that corresponds to the a current active item in the composition or slideshow.
It appears we honor the hyperlink definition of "Active" on page load for a composition trigger with a hyperlink to the current page applied, but don't honor that definition of active when transition to having no items in the composition active (or presumable when transition to having a different item in the composition active).
The only workaround that comes to mind would be the very tedious approach of replicating this composition widget on each page, removing the hyperlink on the "active" trigger and manually formatting it's "Normal" state to appear active.
I've written up the bug. However, it may not get fixed immediately. (We tend to collect smaller fixes in an area and then address them all at once or when other changes are planned in that area, due to the overhead involved in ramping up to work on an area and thoroughly retest it after changes.)

  • How do I format links? And where can I find easy help info?

How do I override the blue color added when I add a hyperlink? (I found the modify page properties/links drop-down to remove the underline, but I can't figure out how to default to the original text color and only show link during rollover, or add my own formatting (e.g. strong) to show the link.
Also - can anyone tell me where to find the most comprehensive help section for Dreamweaver CS5, where I can find answers to questions like this link question? I've tried search, reference, help features within Dreamweaver, tutorials/faqs/forums on the adobe.com site (and I've been using Lynda.com tutorials which are great). But I can't find basic answers to items like reformatting links. Help!!! Thanks

How to style your links is not so much a Dreamweaver issue, I guess it is probably your knowledge of CSS that is running short here.
There is plenty of info on the web, just google for "styling links CSS" and you'll find lots of how-to's
Your best option to find help might be to buy a good book. I learned a lot from Dreamweaver CS5: The  Missing Manual, First Edition by David Sawyer McFarland
I found   CSS: The Missing  Manual, 2nd Edition  by the same author maybe even more useful, since it focuses solely on CSS instead of on the Dreamweaver program details. So check that out too, or  buy them both, like I did. Both are excellent books, which will surely answer your questions and learn you how to do things right from the start.

  • White rectangle appears on exported Gif Rollover

Hi, I'm on FW CS3 and DW CS3 (Using Intel iMac). I'm
exporting a simple Gif rectangular rollover from FW into
Dreamweaver. While I'm not a web expert, I've done plenty of
rollover navigation graphics in Fireworks. The browser preview of
the rollover looks good in FW, but when I export it to Dreamweaver,
it technically works but I get a white rectangle at the bottom of
the graphic when I rollover with the mouse - a white triangle which
I do not want to be there.
I've tried various differences in positioning my slice in FW
and I've tried Dreamweaver Html and switching to Generic Html in
case that made any difference. Neither change helped.
At the risk of cyber-embarrassment, I've published my graphic
(It's a rollover to start an email) to this url:
    Frank Bright Contact
    Page
I appreciate any help on solving this; it could be something
    basic which I've overlooked.
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

Well, this is a bit awkward. I had a Private Message from
Frank asking for a clarification, but when I reply I get an error.
    So, Frank, if you're reading...
    HI!
    What I've done is this:
Take your Fireworks image, where you have the rounded
rectangle vector object (and text and whatever else on your
background color) and export (Image>Preview, not Save) that to a
PNG 24, but save it with a different file name or in a different
    folder.
Hmm...I've JUST realized there's a slightly easier way!
Okay...open this flattened image. Go to Modify>Canvas>Canvas
Color and set that to transparent.
Select the magic wand selection tool. In the Properties
palette, set the tolerance to 0. Click in one of the corners, then
press your Delete key. That portion of your image will become
transparent. Do the same for the other corners.
Now export to GIF format and make sure to select Alpha
Transparency so that your corners come out, well, transparent.
If this doesn't work for you, bump your thread:

    <BR>&gt; =
    rollover=20
menus.  The problem is when the rollover menu pops
    down over the =
    video=20
<BR>&gt; it flickers in and out. The iframe code
    includes html and =
    flash. =20
    I know I have <BR>&gt; to add the &lt;param
    name=3D"wmode" =
    value=3D"transparent" in=20
the object tag and <BR>&gt; wmode=3D"transparent"
in the embed tag, but =
    I don't=20
know where exactly to put it.
