Rollover images with extra space

I'm working on a page I have posted at http://www.nysipm.cornell.edu/2nd_page/2nd_page.html.  I have a row of rollover images within the div#links_banner_top.  For some reason there is a space between the image Home and the image Fruits, causing the image Apiculture to wrap to the next line. I can't see in the code or in the css (at http://www.nysipm.cornell.edu/2nd_page/twoColFixLtHdr.css) anything that indicates a space in this position.  Does anyone have an idea how to eliminate it?
thanks-

Try removing the single space between the home and fruits links:
..." id="home" /></a> <a href="fruits/default.asp" onmouseo...
See if that does the trick.

  • Strange Problem With Extra Spaces

    Hello,
My development staff is experiencing a very strange problem with our JSP pages which display the values from a JDBC result set. We have two environments here: development and production. We have been creating pages in development which work out fine in our development environment. But when we move the page into production, each value which results from the ResultSet getString() method is having multiple blank spaces appended to the end of the value. So, for example, a 5 digit zip code field is really showing up with a length of 8 or 9 because there are extra spaces added to the end of the value.
We are able to work around this problem by using the trim() method, but this is getting quite tedious to do to every single page in the site. It is very annoying because the problem does not exist in the development environment.
So you figure there must be a difference in our development and production environments. But there really isn't. Here is the details for both environments:
    OS: Windows NT 4.0
Web Server: Apache with Tomcat setup as a plugin
    Database: Sybase ASA 6.0.3
    JDK: 1.3
Apache and Tomcat were installed from the same download on both servers. Sybase was installed from the same CD on both servers - and the JDBC Driver (SybDriver) was copied from one server to the next.
Sorry for the long explanation - but does anyone have any idea what could be occurring? Why are the extra spaces being appended to the production pages and not the development pages?
As always, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
    -- Chris

    Hello Paul,
Thank you for taking the time to analyze this case.
The data in the system comes from two different sources. The first source is a nightly feed from a legacy system. The second source is user input via the JSP application. The records that were inserted from the nightly feed have an accurate length() value (meaning there is no untrimmed spaces trailing along.) But the values coming in from the application have extra spaces appended to them. In the development environment, however, both sources provide properly trimmed data.
If I enter an 8 character last name into the web form in the production app, the value which ends up in the database upon submission will have 2 to 3 extra spaces. I know that this sounds strange - and believe me, it is boggling everyone here. I suspect this problem has to do with the Tomcat installation - even though it was installed identically in each server.
I think we are just going to have live with using the trim() for every database submission. As always, thank you for the help, and all ideas are always welcome.

  • Word Doc w/ Comments Creates PDF with Extra Space on Top & Bottom

I am converting a Word 2007 document to PDF and want the reviewer comments to show in balloons on the right side. When generated, my PDF ends up with inches of extra space on the top and bottom margins. This means my headers and rules are way out of place.  I have tried saving the Word doc as a PDF as well as an Adobe PDF format, but neither option helps. Any ideas how to get the PDF to print in the set 8.5 by 11 without adding all this extra space on the top and bottom? Thank you!

I think you are looking more at the settings within WORD, not Acrobat. I would suggest you change the printer (in print menu) to Adobe PDF and then do a print preview. That is what WORD will send to a PDF. If that is not what you want, the problem is one of figuring out how to change the properties in WORD. I don't have a review document handy (will have to wait until I am at work) and see how it appears when I create a PDF. In the meantime, try to look at what WORD is trying to do, because Acrobat generally is just trying to give you what the application is producing.

  • Rollover images with buttons not working on subsequent pages.

I'm trying to create an interactive PDF wherein images "pop-up" when the cursor rolls over a trigger button. I've successfully employed the Buttons feature to create three such images on one page. However, on a subsequent page images will not appear upon trigger rollover. All three work perfectly on that first page, and I'm using the same procedure on all images/buttons. I checked to see if something was going on in the Tab Order, but each page has its own Tab Order, so I don't know about that. Working in CS6 for Mac.

In my InDesign file, I have been very meticulous to link each trigger button with the image button and to assign the appropriate actions to the trigger button. Based on what I have learned, when doing this with InDesign, you make both the trigger object--whether an image or, in my case, a box at 0% transparency that covers text--and the object to be shown/hidden into buttons. Maybe that's where I am getting this wrong? Still, that obviously works for some instances and not for others, so this is confounding.
I do see what you mean about manually adjusting the objects in Acrobat, and that's a trick for adjusting one or two things, but it's tedious to do that with many links in a document that I'm working on. Given the number of "pop-ups" that I want to create for my completed document, the solution has to take place in InDesign.
Additionally, I have tried just about every permutation of tab orders in the Object-->Interactive-->Set Tab Order feature in InDesign. All to no avail.
I thank you very much for your time and efforts on this, Gilad. And I apologize for my lack of facility with forum standards (e.g. "How do I post a file, duh?"). Long time reader, first time post-er, haha.

  • Rollover Images and Captions

Can anyone give me a short, step by step way to
create rollover images with captions. I couldn't manage to get that
done, and when I read the Help screens within the application, it
    didn't help either.
In particular, here was the problem: I was in Storyboard with
the slide highlighted that I wanted to add the rollover image and
caption. When I went up to the Insert drop-down menu and clicked on
Rollover Images, there were no images; I was simply taken to My
    Documents.
I hope somebody can help. I've spent more than 4 hours trying
make this work. I'm SURE it's some little detail that I've failed
    to pay attention to.
    THANK YOU!
    Dean

    Hi Dean,
The "little detail that (you) failed to pay attention to" is
just that. In order to insert an image, you have to select the
image to insert. Use Windows Explorer (from \\My Documents\) to
navigate to \\My Documents\My Pictures\ or whereever else you keep
the image you wish to insert, and select it. Understand, it is up
to you to provide the image . . . it's not like you are selecting
from Captivate's own image gallery (though that is a cool idea, now
that I think of it - LOL!)
Your question indicates to me there might be some confusion
about what you want. You said you want "rollover images with
captions". There are rollover images which are just images to which
a mouseover action has been applied, and there are rollover
captions which are just normal captions to which a mouseover action
has been applied ... but there are no rollover images
with captions. The only way to have a rollover display a
caption is to create it yourself. And the "step-by-step" for doing
that is totally dependent on which image editor you are using
(Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Paint, etc.). But the gist of it is
    below.
    1) Open the image in your image editor - or create it there
    2) Expand the canvas to create extra "blank" space on the
    image (for the caption)
    3) Use the "Text" tool to create your caption text and add it
    to that blank space.
    4) Save the image - BMP format works very well, but any
    format supported by Captivate.
    5) Close the image editor
    6) Open or switch to Captivate and the slide on which you
    want to place it.
    7) Select "Insert > Rollover Image"
    8) Select the image (with its included caption)
    9) Set its attributes and position it on the slide.
Hope this helps. The reason you wont' find this in the "Help"
files is because it is a creative use of images that is not a
supported function of Captivate itself. If you would like to see
future versions of Captivate support the creation of
images-with-captions, the way to do it is to submit it as a feature
request. The form to do that
    is
    located at this link
    Hope this helps.

  • Spry Horizontal menu using rollover images

I see there are a lot of posts about spry menus and problems in IE. I wasnt sure if my problem is the same as the others, so my apologies if it's redundant. I'm working on a site with rollover images in the top menu of a spry menu bar with drop downs that fall below three of the menu items. Everything looks good in Mac/Win Firefox and Mac Safari. In Win IE 8 the menus go horizontally, left to right, instead of falling below the top level item as they should.
    The site is here: http://tinyurl.com/y8dxo8m
The Spry CSS is here: http://tinyurl.com/yd8yhem
Should I not be using rollover images with the Spry menu? I've spent quite a bit of time on trying to solve this, including attempting to rebuild the menu from scratch.

I Paty, I just inserted the Dreamweaver rollover into the navigation. I'm not sure if that's the best approach to achieve what i wanted out of my design, but it seems to work. I checked it in Adobe's Browserlab and it works across all browsers. I'm looking into purchasing the Project7 product. It's not a lot of money and seems easier to work with for embedded graphics than the spry software. I spent way too much time with the spry trying to get the nav to look like I wanted it to while working in all browsers.

  • Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space)

    Hello,
We have a Windows Form application developed in VS 2010 using the Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 runtime. We are having issue with extra spaces in text objects. For example: in a report header we have an object that has text similar to this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records.
When we run it within Crystal 2008 Designer, it looks great; however, when we run it from the Windows Viewer we developed, it looks like this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records    .
The viewer places extra spaces between records and the period (.).  We also noticed it places spaces in phone numbers:
    952 -555-555
There's an extra space between the 2 and the dash (-).
One thing we noticed is, if you change the viewer zoom to 98%, then the extra spacing goes away.
We just upgraded to SP1 for Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 and still the same issue. We are referencing these DLLS: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms all version are 13.0.2000.0.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you,
    Tyler

    Hi Tyler,
I copied the text from your other post into a new report and changed the fonts and previewed in my C# test app and I don't see the problem.
"We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we 952-555-555 open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned."
I threw in the telephone number also you noted in this post.
I created a new report and copied the text above into a text object and then previewed. I then changed the fonts to various types and I don't see the problem.
I also used Courier New because it's a fixed font layout, meaning the same letter always uses the same amount of space, and it shows just fine also.
I've seen issues where the Video driver and screen size can affect the spacing. Usually updating the Video driver or changing your screen resolution resolves the problem.
What Video Drivers and Monitor are you using?
    And What OS?
    Thank you
    Don

  • Rollover image : strange problem

    Hello,
    I've got a very strange problem :
I recently bought a new PC (ACER Aspire M5641, with Vista
32), and installed Adobe Web Standard CS4 (to replace my DW 8 and
    FW 8).
I make rollover images with FW for years without problem
(i.e. without having to configure anything on the soft or the OS).
Since I work with the new setup, each time I test my rollover
image on Firefox or IE 8, when clicking on the test (not on hover)
image, I got a "red-then-blue" point appearing on the top left of
    the image.
    Any Idea ?
Many thanks for your help. I'm stuck.

Can you post the png file?

  • Footer looks normal in Muse but adds extra space beneath it on some pages.

I've had a weird issue recently that I can't figure out how to fix. The problem only occurs on certain pages and not all pages. I have attached two screenshots showing the footer at the bottom of the page as it appears in Muse and then the footer with extra space beneath it as it appears on the website.
I have tried turning off sticky footers among other solutions and nothing has fixed it so far. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Make sure all your Masters and Pages have Sticky Footer on in Page Properties.
Also, I see that in your Masters, the Footer Guide and Bottom of Page Guide overlaps, while the Bottom of Browser Guide is down below.
You need to ensure that your Footer Guide is above the footer content and both the Bottom of Page Guide and Bottom of Browser Guide overlap each other and lie at the bottom edge of the footer content.
    That should fix those.
    Cheers,
    Vikas

  • How do I remove extra space after an image in an ePub created with InDesign?

I've designed more than a dozen ebooks with InDesign and have recently been having problems with the spacing after images, both images that are anchored in the text or stand-alone and exported through the Articles Panel. Following are a few details:
    • In the Object Export Settings, I have the vertical spacing set to 0 both before and after the images and no breaks added.
    • In the Export panel, I do not have any vertical spacing applied to images.
    • I do not have any Object Style settings applied.
    • It doesn't seem to matter if I anchor the image into the text or have it as a stand-alone image in the Articles Panel with the caption after it in a separate text box, also in the Articles Panel.
    • I broke down the ePub into an html file and did not see any div or span classes that were different between images that are showing correctly vs. incorrectly.
    • Extra space appears in both iBooks on my computer, as well as on my iPad.
    • I converted to a mobi file for the Kindle and the space wasn't there.
See attached screen shot. There shouldn't be that big gap between the image and the orange caption.
Any help or suggestions anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I've tried everything I can think of with the same results over and over!

Yes. That is the technique I traditionally use to drop an image into text. I even cut and pasted again as you suggested with the same result. Trust me, this is driving me nuts. I'm not doing anything different than before, but my results are different, even within the same document. I'll attach a few examples, all from this same document.

As you see in the image below ,we are not providing any extra space after the character 263  and  new line after A .i.e. for value P_201S0_20959_20263_20A
still its taking extra spaces and goes on new line when scanned with TSB generator.
Can anyone please provide the solution to avoid this spaces and new line coming in the scanned copy below :

i dont know the exact reason but i know this happens..
practically what we did was we added a blank field in our final internal table as first field. we named the field as : '_________' (Some underscores) . so that in excel it wont look like any field.
and passed nothing to it in each line...
and after getting the excel we can delete the first column.

  • Help with Rollover Image

Hello, i am new to using dreamweaver and setting up webpages. I was attempting to create a roll-over image in my navigation bar and the image is popping up and working, but the original image is still there next to it. Wondering if anyone has any idea on why the original image is still there in addition to the new image with the rollover. Any help would be appreciated!!
Here is the link to my page - http://steamboatplaces.com
    Thanks a lot!
    Erik

If you're talking about the "Home" button in particular, I see two instances of the image in your code (the rollover works just fine for me).  You've got home_on.jpg and home_btn.gif (perhaps one is a placeholder, though?).
If you're still having a problem with the rollover, kindly post what browser and version you're using to preview the site (as I wasn't able to reproduce any problems with the rollover in Chrome and IE8/IE8 Compatibility Mode).

  • How to adjust the space between images in a carousel or images with horizontal scroll

I use the next steps to create a carousel or horizontal scroll of images:
    Webcenter portal: Spaces
    Spaces
    Manage Settings
    Pages
    Create page
    Content management
    Content presenter
    Add images with Plus Icon
It works, but between every image has a lot of space, can you tell me how to reduce the space between every image.

Remove line 234 in your HTML code.
    <p>& n b s p</p>
This is a redundant line of code. Your spacing should get resolved.
PS: I've given spaces between the tag because otherwise this forum would not display the line correctly.

  • PSD Rollover Button with image in front stops button from changing state

I have a wide PSD button that changes state when rolled over. I would like to place a PNG image with transparency in some areas over the top of it so that the rollover button shows through the transparent areas of the PNG.
How can you get it to do the rollover effect when the user mouses over the bit of the button that the image is in front of? Is ther a way of making the PNG 'invisible' to the mouse?
I know I could redesign the button so that it includes the image but I'm trying to keep file sizes and load times to a minimum, I use this button a lot on my website with a different on each, and having that number of individual buttons would result in a bloated, slow-loading website.

    Hi Abhishek
Thanks for your reply. I was able to achieve the effect I wanted by having the PNG and the PSD Button with the same link and then grouping them. This means I can mouse over the PNG and still get the PSD rollover effect, which is perfect.
However I also have another similar problem. I have some different PSD Rollover Buttons which have some text in front of them (basically it's the button label). On some of these buttons when you roll over the text it prevents the rollover state of the button, and on other buttons the rollover effect occurs as it should, and there doesn't appear to be any consistency about which does what. Grouping or ungrouping doesn't appear to make a difference. Can you help?
