Rosetta Stone Fatal Error #1141

Hi,
I just purchased Rosetta Stone (CDs not download) and am having trouble running it. After installing it the first time I got this error message, and read that restarting/shutting down the computer and downloading the latest version of AdobeAir would resolve the issue. I have tried all three of these, and have uninstalled and installed twice, and I still get this message. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks very much.

The company provides this answer to that error message:
http://success.rosettastone.com/articles/en_US/Text/Error-1141-appears-when-I-st art-the-Rosetta-Stone-TOTALe-application/?q=fatal+error+1141&l=en_US&fs=Search&p n=1#macdiv
If that doesn't help, you'll probably need to contact Rosetta Stone Support.
Regards.

  • Rosetta Stone: 'Fatal Application Error #1141'

    Hi,
I am running Lion 10.7.4, and when I installed my Rosetta Stone V4.1.10 I was given the error code in the title. After a long, long time trying to figure out how to resolve this I still cannot. I have contacted Rosetta Support, checked my Date and Time, downloaded updae v4.1.15, downloaded Adobe Air, uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted MBP numerous times and nothing is working.
I believe the problem is there is no Rosetta Stone Daemon file on my MBP after installing Rosetta, however I have already tryed to install this and it still isn't working. Please don't refer me to Rosetta Stone support, they are clueless at the best of times.
    Any help is much appreciated.

I solved it. I just upgraded to Mountain Lion for free with the Apple Upgrade program. It's sad that this seemed the only way to fix it but that's just the way some things turn out. I had been on the phone with a Rosetta stone agent for 2 hours, which including them remotely accessing my MBP, but even they were stuck.
I hope you never have the problems I have faced over the past two days.

  • Rosetta Stone TOTALe (Spanish) 4.5.5 Fatal Application Error 1141 Installs But Won't Launch After MacBook Restarts

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.4 (Maverick) and am trying to add Rosetta Stone Latin Am Spanish to this laptop, after having successfully installed it several years ago on a older MBP.
I was given the latest download file TOTALe 4.5.5 by Rosetta Stone Support for this purpose.  It will install fine and work, immediately upon installation, but when I shut down and restart, I can no longer launch the program and get the Fatal Application Error 1141 code instead.
I have been through this issue many, many times with Rosetta Stone Support already and have followed, alone and with them, the troubleshooting link set up for this problem without success. (Here is the link:  https://rosettastone.secure.force.com/en/language-learning/articles/Error-1141-a ppears-when-I-start-the-Rosetta-Stone-TOTALe-application#macdiv)  Rosetta Stone has run out of ideas to resolve this issue. (I have saved about 10 chat session transcripts where the support people have me run through the same steps over and over, despite my informing them of the previous lack of success in following these steps.)
My OS X is up to date. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem running Maverick.
Any thoughts would be greatly  appreciated.
P.S. This is a relatively new MBP and the only add-on software other than Rosetta Stone is Microsoft Office.

I have the same problem.  Back in 2011 I bought Rosetta and got the very same problem, talked and talked to their support to no avail.  On that instance they returned my purchase money.  This time around I asked beforehand if the software was totally compatible with Yosemite and they said yes.  I just got it, tried to unit and got error 1141 again.  It is very frustrating! I will talk to them again but my hopes are very low.  I guess one needs to understand that the software is crap!

  • Rosetta Stone FLEXnet and 8111 error

    Hello,
I am having quite a uniqe problem with the Rosetta Stone 5 Levels Russian and their support was unable to help me, so I thought I might try my luck here. I have purchased the new RS about two weeks ago, downloaded it, activated and it worked great. Next day, however, it asked me for the activation key again and when I did supply it, it came up with the '8111 - minor error'. The app still runs but does not allow me to access the content. After contacting the RS support and reinstalling the RS it worked again but until I turned off the computer - then again refusing the code. Another guy at RS support told me it might be a anti-virus problem, I've then disabled my anti-virus (Sophos), reinstalled RS and consequently unistalled Sophos and reinstalled RS. Stiil it only worked until the reboot. That took me to the next tier at the RS support.  There I was told that it's my mac's fault and that it's somehow causing problems with the Rosetta Stone. I have tried to unintall everything from the RS, all of their files, download them again istall. Still the same story - working until the reboot. It happens that Flexnet - their little program responsible for the activation is never on my activitiy monitor. Neither when the RS is running well or after the reboot. I am out of depth here and so are the guys at their support. I would therefore like to ask if there is a way that my MacBook can be messing their software up? I never had any problems with. Or maybe some other software that I currently have installed is causing the problem?
    My MacBook Pro:
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    2,7 GHz Intel Core i7
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Also I know some people had the 8111 error when having problem with loop updating - the same update being downloaded and installed on and on. That is not the case for me I can download the 4.5.5 update no problem and it works until the reboot.
    Hope that makes sense,
    Thank you!

I forgot to mention that I have installed the RS on my PC and it works all fine, no problems whatsoever before and after the reboot. I have tried reinstalling things like Flash Player and Adobe Air but it did not help.

  • Shockwave player xtras error with rosetta stone

Im trying to use rosetta stone online with shockwave player but i keep getting two error messages, the first one i get is, "this application requires an xtra (FLT ear) that either does not exist or failed to load properly. Please make sure the appropriate xtras are in the xtras folder." then when i hit ok the movie player begins to load then the second error message pops up and says, " This shockwave movie has errors that have caused play back problems please contact the author of this content regarding problem, shockwave unable to continue." I have tried uninstalling the slim and full versions of both version 10, and 11 i have no idea what else to do. Im using a new macbook with mac os x version 10.6.3 thanks for any help you can give.

I figured out on my end that it was our Web Filter software blocking rosettastone.com. After adding this to our unblocked list it installed required components and ran successfully right away.

  • Rosetta Stone (v.4.1.15) Error 8111 under Mountain Lion

When launching Rosetta Stone v. 4.1.15 under OS X Mountain Lion, I'm getting the following error during the license verification process:
"8111 There was a minor error. Click OK to continue. -1"
Before I upgraded my Mac from Lion (where Rosetta Stone was working) to Mountain Lion, I had replaced my hard drive on the Mac. So, I first powered down my Mac and pulled out the existing drive with Lion and working Rosetta Stone on it and replaced it with a brand new hard drive (larger capacity). Then I installed Mountain Lion on the new drive. Then I used the existing Time Machine backup and Time Machine restore function of Mac OS to bring personal files, applications, and settings from the backup (made in Lion) into the newly installed Mountain Lion. Every other application (besides Rosetta Stone) that I had installed under Lion worked in Mountain Lion after this process was completed.
I called Rosetta Stone support, and the gentlemen I spoke with thought that the problem was due to me not having deactivated the license under Lion, so the Rosetta Stone license verification server was thinking that I was trying to activate Rosetta stone on a third computer with the same Activation Code. So today I decided to boot up my Mac with the old drive that still has Lion installed on it. Once my Mac booted up, I launched Rosetta Stone, and the license verification completed normally, so I was able to use Rosetta Stone. Then I deactivated the Rosetta Stone license under Lion and received a Deactivation Code. After that, I was given a confirmation message that the deactivation succeeded. Then, I booted my Mac into Mountain Lion, launched Rosetta Stone, entered the Activation Code, and received the same exact 8111 error. I have now tried to activate the Rosetta Stone license under Mountain Lion several times, and I keep getting the same 8111 error.
So, the problem was not with Rosetta Stone license verification server thinking that I was trying to activate a third computer with the same Activation Code. Before I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I had Rosetta Stone software activated on two Macs with the same Activation Code. I am NOT trying to install this software on a third Mac. I am trying to run it on the same Mac that I was running it before I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion.
To me it looks like there is a problem between Rosetta Stone and Mountain Lion in that for some reason the verification of Rosetta Stone Activation Code is failing under Mountain Lion, whereas it is working fine under Lion.

After several days of going back and forth with Rosetta Stone support, and their useless advice, I finally figured out how to get Rosetta Stone TOTALe 4 to work under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. Below are the instructions; follow them attentively, and you should get Rosetta Stone TOTALe 4 working under Mountain Lion.
Getting Rosetta Stone 4 to work under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion
    1. Download the Rosetta Stone package from http://www.rosettastone.com/v4upgrade
    2. In the Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    3. Drag the "Rosetta Stone TOTALe" application to Trash. This is your existing installation of Rosetta Stone TOTALe that doesn't work under Mountain Lion.
    4. In the Finder, go to /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe and locate the file "tracking.db3" (without quotes).
    5. Select this file and hit the "Return" key on the keyboard.
    6. Rename this file to "tracking-backup.db3" (without quotes).
    7. Click on Apple, click on System Preferences and go to Security and Privacy > General; under "Allow applications downloaded from:" select "Anywhere".
    8. Go to the Downloads folder and find the file "Rosetta_Stone_TOTALe.dmg" (without quotes) that was downloaded in Step 1.
    9. Double-click on this file. Then in the window that opens, double-click on the "Rosetta Stone TOTALe.mpkg" file (without quotes).
    10. Install the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    11. In the Finder, locate the mounted package with the Rosetta Stone installer and eject it. (This step is important in order to be able to locate the updater package later on.)
    12. Quit the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
13 In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    14. Launch the newly installed Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    15. The application will prompt you to download an update.
    16. Agree to downloading the update and wait until the download is finished.
    17. The application will tell you that the update was downloaded successfully and that once you hit "OK" it will launch the updater. However, it does not launch the updater. Instead, you should open the Finder, and under DEVICES locate the mounted updater package.
    18. Click on the mounted updater package and run the updater application.
    19. Once the updater application finishes, quit it.
    20. In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    21. Launch the newly updated Rosetta Stone TOTALe applicatoin.
    22. You will be prompted for the activation key. Enter the activation key that came with your Rosetta Stone Software.
    23. Quit the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    24. In the Finder,  go to /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe and locate the file "tracking.db3" (without quotes).
    25. Drag the "tracking.db3" file to Trash.
    26. In the same location (/Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe), find the "tracking-backup.db3" file, select it, and press "Return".
    27. Rename the "tracking-backup.db3" file to "tracking.db3".
    28. In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    29. Click on the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application. It should launch with the user progress that you had before you upgraded to OS 10.8 Mountain Lion.

  • Why won't my Rosetta Stone open?

I just bought Rosetta Stone TOTALe. I have a Mac with OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a), which should support the program. However, after installing the disc the program will not open. When I click on it bounces once and then closes. I tried deleting my cache but that didn't help. Can anyone help me out?

    Thank you Jeremymsu!
I had the same problem with Rosetta Stone Totale. I'd click the icon, it would bounce once and then not load.  So I redownloaded both Flash and Air and it launched.
BUT, once it launched I received "Fatal Application Error: #2124" and the program would crash.  Here's a link to the Rosetta Stone support page with the fix.  I followed the directions and now have the program running like a champ.

  • Rosetta Stone help?

I tried to install Rosetta last night. The tech support from Rosetta was grim. I then realized that it's probably my MacBook Pro OS x 10.6.8. I was able to install all 5 discs successfully. During that time, I continued getting update options which I kept accepting. Then I made  a "fatal Error" when I canceled an update that I thought had already been downloaded. That took away the option to activate the code ( I could see the screen for it dimly lit and not usable behind the download screen, too late) that comes with. I never got that screen option back.I can't open Rosetta because it tells me the Adobe Air  that I have isn't the correct version. But even though I went to Adobe and seemed to download, I can't find where it was even installed it.
All I can find is the icon for Adobe Air Installer. Should I just uninstall the whole godam program and re-install? Or just use a windows pc and be done with it. The last time I installed anything by disc on this computer was Snow Leopard and after shutting down the computer, the whole thing crashed. I spent the day at the Apple store where a 10 year old worked on it making it better. Can someone give me an understandable answer?

  • Issue with Adobe Air and Rosetta Stone in Mountain Lion.

After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to open Rosetta Stone.  I was directed to update and install adobe air.  I did that, then tried to open Rosetta Stone again and it said the installation of Adobe Air was damaged.  I went to Adobe to reinstall and it said it's already installed.  I'm now stuck in a circle...Help!

I also found this page from the Rosetta Stone site very helpful.
It was more helpful than anything on the Adobe site.

  • Rosetta Stone - cannot install

I have recently purchase Rosetta Stone - it gets all the way through install and then says it failed.  Rosetta Stone support told me to check my adobe air version - so i download adobe air and it doesn't install, says my administrator won't allow it.  I'm new to Mac and am having a hard time - is this a security setting I can change?  Very frustrating to not be able to see an error code on Rosetta Stone or security settings I didn't set.
Per Rosetta Stone support, if I get Adobe Air installed I should try reinstall.

    Karen,
If your machine is covered by AppleCare you can call Apple for some help. All new Mac's get 90 days of complimentary AppleCare and it can also be purcharsed. AppleCare extends the warranty to 3 years and also extends telephone help to 3 years. If the machine is yours I would STRONGLY recommend it especially becuase you are new to  OS X.
In addition if you have switched from a PC I'd also recommend bookmarking and using these sites. Switch 101, Mac 101 & Find Out How Video tutorials.

  • Is Rosetta Stone v4 compatible with Mountain Lion?

I'm looking to upgrade to Mountain Lion however I just dropped $500 on Rosetta Stone a few weeks ago. I'm wondering, has anyone here tried running Rosetta Stone v4 on Mountain Lion?

I think the problem occurs when making a fresh installation of Mountain Lion and then using the Migration Assistant to bring applications, settins, and files from a Time Machine backup onto the newly installed Mountain Lion. That's what I did because I thought upgrading to OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) was a good time to also upgrade my Macbook with a larger hard drive. Read this thread for the error description are the hoops I had to jump through to make Rosetta Stone 4 work in this upgrade scenario.
Rosetta Stone (v.4.1.15) Error 8111 under Mountain Lion
It appears that the culprit may be the file "tracking.db3" located in /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe
I'm not sure how a fresh installatoin of Rosetta Stone 4 would behave under Mountain Lion. Perhaps it would also go smoothly. I do know that restoring Rosetta Stone (application and application settings) with the Migration Assistant onto Mountain Lion from the Time Machine backup made on Lion causes major issues and Rosetta Stone doesn't work without extra steps described in the referenced thread.

  • Rosetta stone via rosetta emulator

I am trying to run rosetta stone (the language program) online version and i get the error.
    rosettastone.com/online/code/current_version/Local/ENGlui.cct
I even found the file to try and force it to run in rosetta emulator but when I go to "get info" there is not option for me to force it to go through rosetta emulator.
I checked their FAQ pages and it seems that with the dual core intel it should not be a problem because rosetta would run automatically and decipher rosetta stone program.
    Any help would be great!!!

I had a similar problem trying to get the web version of Rosetta to run on the MBP. My work around is simple...
I am using the firefox browser and forcing the emulator mode. Then logged in to Rosetta and performed the necessary installation. I found this to be the only way to make it work for me. I hope this helps you.

  • Rosetta Stone uninstall help

    Hi,
I am trying to install the Rosetta Stone version 3 (3.0.35) and I can't get it working. I think I had it up once but after now nothing is working.
I uninstalled everything (dragged the app to trash and deleted everything from Library - Application Support - Rosetta Stone 3 folder) but after trying to re-install from scratch I am getting stuck at installing the the 3.2.11 update. Its downloading ok, I just an error after clicking update. Here's what the error says, "An error occurred preventing the installation from completing."
I also can't install my Chinese language pack either (I get the 9114 error). This may be due to the fact that I can't install the upgrade. I have a feeling something isn't being deleted that should be.
Also, I notice that after installing the RS3 app it does not go into my apps folder like most programs do, it is placed under my Mac hard drive - there with Library, System, Applications, etc.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • I cannot install the language pack CDs for Rosetta Stone.

I'm trying to install the language packs of my Rosetta Stone package. The application CD installed ok, and it is running. You need to then install the language CD from inside that application. When I "add language CD", I get the error "You must have administrative permissions to use this feature." I've set all permissions for all groups the "read & write" on both the Rosetta Stone app file and the content folders. I've called Rosetta Stone and they tell me this is an Apple problem. Help please! I'm getting really, really frustrated with this!
    I'm on an iMac, OS X 10.9.5
    Thanks.

    Frank,
so, I did search for the directory Language Training - it doesn't exist on my system. As an experiment, I manually added the directory and gave it read/write permissions. Rosetta still couldn't install the language CD. I've cut and pasted the permissions below of the Rosetta Stone directory as well as the bin directory. I wonder if I'm having this problem because I'm trying to install Rosetta Stone Version 3? That is the latest version that allows for homeschooling.
