Rosetta stone via rosetta emulator

I am trying to run rosetta stone (the language program) online version and i get the error.
rosettastone.com/online/code/current_version/Local/ENGlui.cct
I even found the file to try and force it to run in rosetta emulator but when I go to "get info" there is not option for me to force it to go through rosetta emulator.
I checked their FAQ pages and it seems that with the dual core intel it should not be a problem because rosetta would run automatically and decipher rosetta stone program.
Any help would be great!!!

I had a similar problem trying to get the web version of Rosetta to run on the MBP. My work around is simple...
I am using the firefox browser and forcing the emulator mode. Then logged in to Rosetta and performed the necessary installation. I found this to be the only way to make it work for me. I hope this helps you.

  • Trouble installing Shockwave: Question about Rosetta Emulation Mode

Hi, I just got my macbook a few days ago. I can't access Rosetta Stone (language learning program) due to lack of Shockwave. I tried to install it based on the instructions offered on the Shockwave website, but I was unsuccessful. Here are the instructions they offered me:
    Rosetta Emulation Mode
    1. Quit out of the browser
    2. Go to your Applications folder and control-click on the browser application bundle.
    3. In the context menu that appears select Get Info.
    4. Under the general heading of the info dialog select "Open Using Rosetta."
    5. Close out of the Info dialog box.
Sounds simple, but I can't seem to find the "browser application bundle. A finder search yielded nothing. Please help; I need to finish Ch. 2 by next week (when school starts), haha...

To enable Rosetta in Safari simply open finder, click on Applications, and then find Safari, hold down the ctrl button on your keyboard and then click Safari, a menu will show up, click "Get Info" near the top, a Safari info window appears, check the box that says, "Open using Rosetta." Thats it! Hope this helps!

  • Sound effects no longer play in Rosetta emulation games

While sorting out the data transferred from my recently deceased Powerbook G4 17", I accidently started up Audacity 1.2.3 which is a Power PC only version. It only partially loaded with its icon in the Dock but nothing else. I had to force quit the program to get rid of it and then deleted it. When my teenage son went to play his suite of PPC games such as Age of Empires 2 and StarWars after that, the game sound effects no longer worked. The background music still plays, but all the player responsive sound effects will not play, even though the settings to play them are correct.
I am wondering if the opening up and crashing of the Power PC Audacity may have stuffed up something in the Rosetta emulation system software relating to the sound output of emulated games. Before I consider doing a full backup and reinstall, does anyone who is a regular gamer playing PPC games on a Macbook Pro have any ideas on how to fix this problem. I was wondering if the Rosetta component of OSX can be replaced from a working system or if it is totally integrated into the Mac OS unlike Classic was.
    All advice appreciated!

+I tried to set "Problem solved" but got an error so will try again later.+
Thanks for trying and glad it fixed the problem

  • How to install Apple's Rosetta emulation software?

Sigma Chess is a legacy PowerPC application and therefore needs Apple’s Rosetta emulation software in order to run on Intel based Macs. This is pre- installed on Mac OS X 10.5 and earlier, but must be installed manually on the new Mac OS X 10.6. Please guide me

  • Rosetta emulation gone on iMac 20" (2GHz, 10.5.5)

A few days ago, I noticed that some apps don't work anymore. They all are PPC. Now I tried to open a universal binary file (iChat, Safari) with Rosetta (used the file information and checked the rosetta option) and the app didn't work either. So it looks like my Rosetta emulation is gone completely. But why and... where?
What can I do (except for a complete reinstall) to get it back?

    Hey Guys ...
While I was researching about how to run PPC games on my Intel Mac Pro, using Rosetta, I discovered that a file was missing. So after I replaced the file I'm running AOE II (a 6 year old game).
But it's a pain to do so but follow these steps ...
    1) Insert your Leopard Install Disc. Make sure it's on the Desktop.
    2) Open a 'Terminal' window and type in +sudo -s+ then press the 'Return' key.
    3) Enter your Administrators password then press the 'Return' key.
    4) Type in cp and press the 'Space Bar' (to add a space).
    5) Click & drag the Leopard Install Disk from the 'Desktop' into the 'Terminal' window & release. This will add "\" to all the 'Spaces' in the Leopard Install Disk Name and at this point the 'Terminal' command line should look like this ...
    +cp /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ Disc\ 1+ (no space after the Disc Name).
    6) Now type in this:/usr/libexec/oah/translate and press the 'Space Bar' (to add a space).
    7) Now type in this: /usr/libexec/oah/. The command line should now look like this ...
    +cp /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ Disc\ 1/usr/libexec/oah/translate /usr/libexec/oah/+
    8) Now press the 'Return' key.
    9) If you receive an error then recheck the command line by pressing the up arrow key.
    10) If all went well then type in 'exit' and press the 'Return' key then close the 'Terminal' window.
    11) Run 'Disk Utility' to verify & set the required permissions.
Your PPC apps should run OK now.
    Good Luck.

  • Rosetta Emulation Mode?

Does anyone know about Rosetta Emulation mode? How do I go to this thing? I have to use this mode for my browser to download and install macromedia shockwave player...but i couldn't locate it....

    Kappy wrote:
Your OS X comes with a universal Shockwave plug-in Do not replace it with the PPC version. If you download the most recent universal binary version of Flash it incorporates Shockwave.
Actually, the original poster is correct. Shockwave is still a PowerPC-only plug-in. Take a look at the following link to confirm:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=82216d24&sliceId=1
(Flash and Shockwave are similar, to be sure, but there are still some older education and business web apps that require Shockwave.)
That link also includes detailed instructions on how to configure your browser to run in Rosetta. Good luck!

  • Rosetta emulated apps unstable

Has anyone experienced instability with non-universal apps emulated with Rosetta? I'm finding my new iMac to be a bit unstable compared to my old G4 mac.
The app freezes, force quite does not work either resulting in needing to hard restart the computer.
Have been trying to find out why this otherwise awesome computer is glitchy at times.

Having very similar problems with iPad One...    Many of my apps now close automatically after only being open for a minute or two..  Extremely frustrating...  Yesterday it took over 2 minutes for my calendar to open, always has been near instant on...
Web has turn into an snail paced experience...   Wifi is not the issue...  Speednet test show ping 21 ms, upload 3.92 Mbps and download at 18.77 Mbps..
Biggest technical issue I have found is RAM useage...  Open up a few apps, mail, calendar, USA Today and my free RAM drops below 5 mb, which clearly makes the whole IPAD system unstable...
I use to be able have 20+ apps and NEVER have RAM issues...  Something in IOS 5 is driving this issue...
I did have iCloud on the iPad, but that completely destroyed my calendar and address apps, plus brought total chaos to my other Apple hardware (iMac, Mac Air, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS)... Took many hours to delete it...   There could be some lingering issues on the iPad with its tie in to IOS 5...
Clearly the release of iCloud & IOS 5 were premature & we have turned into beta testers,,

  • How to deactivate the rosetta option if it is not shown in information page

    Hi,
by accident or why ever I clicked the option "start with rosetta" on my eyetv.app. STRANGE now the option is no longer viewable in information field and I can't start the application inside of the application folder because I get then the message "EyeTV can't run under Rosetta-Emulation" please deactivate the Option via Menu Ablage and unmark the option. BUT I can't see this option in information field. AND if i try to start the eyetv.app in an folder outside of applications it works.
    Anyone an idea

    Hi,
thank you for the hint with command+i BUT THIS DOES NOT help of course, because I already wrote that I used this.
I solved it now in different way which leads to a general question that somewhere the osx seems to note versions of programs and how to open them.
Description of this issue now in detail:
    - I installed EyeTV in Version 3.0 on OSX 10.6 and started it.
    - a message appears that this program is not made for this OSX version (it was made for 10.5)
    - stupidly Elgato has no direct access to update from 3.0 to 3.1.2 which works with 10.6 WHICH means EyeTV has a buildin update BUT is useless if you can't start this app
    - OK this leads me to idea to enable the "Start with Rosetta option"
    - Didn't work
    - I took then an 3.1.2 Version from my TimeMachine Backup and copied it over the old ones
    - tried to start it and the message appear "This cannot run in Rosetta Mode"
    - HERE IT COMES the little option field where you can disable or enable Rosetta in the information of the eyetv 3.1.2 is not shown so I was unable to disable it of course
    - so i copied the file to a different directory and it works there normally
    - ..... AFTER 2 hours i remembered that I had set the "Start with Rosetta" option on version 3.0 and the Snow Leopard seems to have noted this somewhere and i need a trick to see this option and the only way is to use a version 3.0 file maybe the option will appear there again
    - ok copied Version 3.0 over the 3.1.2
    - AND AH the rosetta option appears and was enabled and I had here the possibility to disable or unmark it
    - then copy back the 3.1.2 Eyetv version file and AH it runs
So imagine that someone else uses today an application which really needs rosetta, and a user activates this and after some month a Snow Leopard 64bit version comes and nobody tells the user to deactivate the rosetta version on old package before installing new one.... poor user, I guess the 64bit version will tell the crap "This application can't run under rosetta" and the user will never find the way to disable it.
Hope there is a better way to find out for which application in which version was set the "start with rosetta" option in the system.
IF ANYONE KNOWS PLEASE let me know

  • Open Adobe Acrobat Professional in Rosetta mode.

I have Adobe acrobat 8 as well as photoshop cs3. I am having trouble finding my scanner with acrobat (though I can find the scanner with adobe 7). I tried getting acrobat 8 to open in Rosetta mode but that's not an option. I can open photoshop cs3 in Rosetta mode and when it does open in Rosetta mode, I can use photoshop to scan documents. Is there some reason why acrobat professional cannot open in Rosetta mode? It is a universal application.

As far as I can determine, the scanning software is a Power PC application, though also with that application, when I get info, there is not the option to open in Rosetta mode. Perhaps I do not understand.
Being a PowerPC app is exactly why the program must run in Rosetta, which is a PowerPC emulator. That is, the type of CPUs Macs used before switching to Intel. That's why there's no option to choose Rosetta mode for a PowerPC app. It has no choice but to run through Rosetta.
Sounds like Skrocki has you covered though. Just get the latest software so you don't have to run anything in Rosetta emulation.

  • Rosetta?

Does the Macromedia Studio 8 (dreamweaver and flash) run on the rosetta emulator? I think I get more speed on a PC with these programs.

Yes, they run, but since they are running through the Rosetta translator it will run slower. I run those two occasionally and while it takes a bit longer to load I do not find it to be terrible at all.
The key to Rosetta is RAM. You do not mention how much RAM you have, but if it is not 1GB or more it will be considerably slower than it could be. I have 2GB of RAM and it works fine.

  • Rosetta...Am I missing something?

I've installed a few non-Intel (UB) programs on my Mac Pro, but I'm a little confused about Rosetta. According to the Apple manual, I should be able to check Rosetta in any non (UB) software by going to "Get Info". I can check Rosetta in some programs, and can't see it in others such as Word 2004.
Is Rosetta built into these programs?
    Thanks!
    -Dean

    Dean,
If you do a Get Info on an application and it says Universal (next to the application name), it will run native on your MacPro. The program has both a version for Intel and a version for the PowerPC. If it says PowerPC, then it runs in Rosetta (= emulated), it has no Intel code so it can't run native on your Intel Mac. If it says Intel, it will run native on your MacPro but you can't run it on a non-Intel Mac (it has no PPC version in it).
Word is not a Universal, it has only PPC code so it can only run in Rosetta.
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • Terminal Emulation/TN5250 on a Blackberry

    All -
I am looking for some software to do terminal emulation on the Blackberry.  I used to use MobileSSH from Rove, but now that they have incorporated it into Mobile Admin, I can no longer purchase just MobileSSH and the cost has also rised about 3x-4x to $595 and I can't get justification for that amount of money.
I am wanting to connect to an AS/400 through MDS via TN5250 emulation.  I will need function key access, special character input ability, and field exit key capability.  Any suggestions anyone?  Please let me know!!

  • Armband ZEN Stone P

    Greetings from Italy.
Today I bought ZEN Stone Plus and his armband but i'm not able to insert the "Stone" in it.........
Is there anyone who can help me?

My Zen Stone does work with my Mini Mac (OS X 0.4.7) but there's a snag. If you connect the Stone via USB when the Mac is on then it doesn't appear as a mass storage device on the desktop. The Stone can be seen by in the system profiler utility, but it's not correctly functioning. To enable you to use the Stone on a Mac you have to reboot the Mac with the Stone already connected via its USB cable. If you unmount the Stone then you have to reboot again.
When you have done the reboot so that the Stone appears as a volume on the Mac then it works very well. It even appears on iTunes (Mac version) as a Nomad MuVo. This is without using any special software/drivers to make this happen. So not only is the ZEN Stone a mass storage device that can be filled by just drag-n-drop, you can choose to use iTunes if you wish. There's no 'random fill' facility in iTunes (as you get with a shuffle), but random filling can be done by using the iTunes 'party shuffle' feature - just create a new party shuffle list then drag it to the Nomad MuVo icon. Easy.
Let's hope the initail connection issue will be fixed soon with a firmware update.
