RosettaNet Implementation on XI

Has anyone implmented RosettaNet scenarios in a productive environment on XI?  Would you be willing to talk about it?
Is anyone currently in an implementation?  Would you be willing to talk about it?
I'm looking to build a business case to move off of our current solution to XI 3.0 but having a hard time finding success stories.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!  -Erik

Hi Erik,
RNIF adapters support the data communication standard – RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) defined by RosettaNet. This standard defines RNIF protocols version 1.1 and 2.0. The RNIF adapters 1.1 and 2.0 are based on these protocols.
The adapters change the XI message format to the required RosettaNet message format. The adapters also change the format of messages from partner systems to the XI system.
You use RNIF adapters to send messages between the Integration Server and a RosettaNet-compliant system.
Please refer to the replay of following webinar on Know-how network calls that has live demo on how to configure the RNIF Adapter.

There are 3 software components related to RosettaNet that are offered by SAP:
ROSETTANET
ROSETTANET CRM
ROSETTANET ERP
The component ROSETTANET contains mainly the definitions of the PIP's, while the components ROSETTANET ERP and ROSETTANET CRM contain (most importantly) the mappings against the respective SAP backend (CRM or ERP).
If you look for complete support of PIP's including the mapping to the backend (IDoc or BAPI) you need to check which PIP's are supported in ROSETTANET CRM or ROSETTANET ERP. Here the document you find following the link in the SAP service marketplace is correct. As of today SAP offers mappings for the following PIP's:
PIP3A4
PIP3A7
PIP3A8
PIP3A9
PIP3B2
PIP3C3
PIP3C6
If you are only interested in the PIP definition, you need to check the content of the component ROSETTANET (here you don't find the latest information on the service marketplace). In general, SAP is working on making all PIP's available in that component. If you are missing some PIP you can contact SAP, e.g. via this forum and the PIP's will be added and made available very soon.
Currently you find the following PIP's:
PIP2A12
PIP3A1, 3A2, 3A4, 3A6, 3A7, 3A8, 3A9
PIP3B2, 3B12, 3B13, 3B14
PIP3C3, 3C4, 3C6
PIP4A1, 4A5
PIP5C1, 5C2, 5C3, 5C4
PIP6C1, 6C2
Also important to mention is that SAP works with some partners that also offer mappings for some PIP's, for example 3C4 and the PIP6C* series.

I'm sending purchase order Idoc from R3 to XI and then to business partner who want's to receive the PO in a rosettanet format. I have imported the rosettanet XI additional content to the integration builder but I don't know how to map between the purchase order Idoc fields and the rosettanet PIP3A4 format?
Is the only way to get this information is to join rosettanet?

    Hi Henri,
Did you check SAP Delivered cotent for this .Most of the time it is XSLT mapping used..

    Hi
    >>What are the functions of JMS Adapter and RFC Adapter and which scenario these adapters should be used in
The JMS adapter (Java Message Service) enables you to connect messaging systems to the Integration Engine or the PCK.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cd/d85a9d6fab7d4dbb7ae421f710626c/content.htm
The RFC adapter enables you to use the functions of the Integration Engine or the PCK in existing SAP landscapes. It is used by SAP systems to connect to the Integration Engine or the PCK by using the RFC interface. It supports SAP systems as of version 3.1x.

  • Using RNIF Adapter

    Hi all,
We are trying to test RNIF adapter by sending message from XI QA via RNIF adapter (Receiver) to XI DEV via RNIF adapter (Sender).
In sxmb_moni (QA) the message is ok, but in RWB (Adapter engine monitoring) the message appears with an error:
Transmitting the message to endpoint http://<host>:50000/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF using connection RNIFAdapter failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Received HTTP response code 500..
In the default trace log file in J2EE the errors are:
    Specified key- HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE -not configured
    Specified key- CHANNEL_NAME_RESP -not configured
    Specified key- SKIP_DOCTYPE -not configured
    Specified key- PARTNER_PIP_PAYLOAD_ID -not configured
    Specified key- ADAPTER_USAGE_CODE -not configured
    Specified key- MSG_STANDARD_FREE_TEXT -not configured
    Did anyone try similar scenario.
Can anyone help me configuring the communication channels (both Receiver and Sender).
    Thanks,
    Gigi & Amit

    More information.
I tried HTTP Client to send message to RNIF Adapter.
The Http Client was adopted to send message to RNIF Adapter.
    http://<Host>:<Port>/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF
The message was built according to the Rosettanet specifications example
    http://xml.coverpages.org/RNIF-Spec020000.pdf
The result of sending message to RNIF Adapter was:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: Error while getting the count of Body parts in the RNIF Business message (in MIME format): com.sap.aii.af.protocol.ispeak.exceptions.OperationalException: Error while getting the count of Body parts in the RNIF Business message (in MIME format)
What is the correct format of the Complete Unsigned Message-Packaging in Rosettanet implementation?
    Thanks,
    Gigi.

    Thanks for responding Purushothaman.
On the sending system, the receiver interface is defined as
    Receiver Namespace - http://sap.com/xi/RosettaNet/PIP3B2_V0100
    Receiver Interface name - AdvanceShipmentNotificationAction
I'm using my XIS sandbox system as the shipper and XID dev system as the receiver. X
    For testing purposes,
    1. I've set up XIS as File to RNIF scenario
    2. I've set up XID as RNIF to file scenario.
XID is able to receive the messages from XIS, but XID is not able to post an ack back to XIS. It errors out with the HTTP 500 error. Ideally, XID should be able to post an ack (202) back to XIS and close the loop.
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks

  • SAP XI questions

    Hi SAP XI experts,
I have some questions regarding XI:
    1. What is the communication protocols between SAP XI and Microsoft Exchange Server? Is it possible to use MAPI protocol for processing incoming emails from MS Exchange, retrieve the email via this protocol by XI and process it within XI? In case not what other protocols can be used in integration SAP XI <-> MS Exchange.
As far as I remember MAPI is a Microsoft Windows program interface that enables you to send email from within a Windows application, is it supported by SAP?
    2. What are the standard encryption protocols which can be used within XI while communication between external partners.
    3. Question about XI licensing, as far as I know there is special license model based on amount of transferred data. Do you have some details what are a ranges?
E.g. low level range is under 50GB in production environment, middle level... high level... etc...
Is there some special license of Integration Adapters? Are there included in common XI license?
    Any input is highly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    m./

    Hallo Martin-
I can only (partially) address your items 2 & 3...
    2)  The SAP XI RNIF (RosettaNet Implementation Framework), RNIF11, and CIDX adapters support secure and encrypted communication via HTTPS.  For business-to-business (B2B) transactions in the High Tech and Chemical industries these adapters are available for use on XI 3.0.
    3)  All licensing issues will need to be discussed individually with an SAP Account Executive and will not likely be published by SAP on SDN.  For the adapters I mentioned above (RNIF/CIDX) a license fee applies for the adapter, in addition to the integration content contained in the Business Packages for RosettaNet and CIDX.  Again, you would need to contact an SAP Account Executive for details.
    Hope this helps.

  • HTTP adapter - URGENT!!!

Has anyone written a custom http adapter, so that the getuser, realcreate etc can call a server side CGi script of servlet to provision an account
    appreciate the help
    vik

    HI Raj,
You can use the HTTP adapter with R/3 if there will be any webapplication available in R/3 which will interact in the form of XMl data.
But The CIDX Adapter is based on the Chem eStandards Envelope and Security Specifications, which refer to an extended subset of RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) version 1.1, with certain deviations from this framework.
You can't use CIDX to communciate with R/3.

  • XI/PI Versions

    Hi,
Can someone give me all the major releases( 1.X, 2.X etc ) for XI/PI ?
Justifying with SAP links would help.
    Regards and Thank you,
    Jayanth

    HI
    Features in SAP XI 3.0
Standards-based process integration:  SAP XI enables the integration of collaborative processes across multiple application components and enterprise boundaries.  Processes are integrated using standards-based XML messaging.
Integration knowledge management u2013 Integration knowledge ranging from design time to configuration time is stored and managed in a central integration repository and integration directory.  This includes information about interface schema, required mappings, business scenarios, and business processes.
Prepackaged integration content u2013 SAP solutions based on SAP NetWeaver use SAP XI to model cross-components business processes and scenarios.  Interface schema and required mapping are defined along the way.
Cross-component BPM u2013 It has cross component business processes and scenarios modeling which allows you to drive and control complex business processes across business applications and enterprise boundaries.  SAP XI covers the full process life cycle, including design, automation, execution, and monitoring. The collaboration knowledge in SAP XI allows you to describe integration processes from a top-down, high-level perspective, rather than having to hard code them into attached components.
Heterogeneous landscape connectivity u2013 Adapters allow connectivity with all kinds of applications in a heterogeneous landscape.  SAP provides a range of adapters with SAP XI to integrate not only existing SAP solutions through IDoc and BAPI interfaces, but also non-SAP systems through file, messaging, database or Web service interfaces.  An open adapter framework allows the use of partner adapters to extend connectivity options to legacy and packaged applications as well as proprietary technology platforms.
B2B integration u2013 B2B integration requires the ability to maintain partner information and communicate with partners through an agreed protocol.  SAP XI stores collaboration partner profiles centrally in the integration directory and communicate with partners based on this data.  A Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) allows the integration partners that donu2019t use SAP XI or another integration solution.
Web-service management u2013 SAP XI handles the send/receive Web-service calls in an advanced manner and can add value-added services. SAP XI is able to evaluate Web-service calls based on the content and definitions as defined in the integration directory.  SAP XI selects the appropriate definition and sends it on as a Web service, or transforms the Web-service call to the format and protocol that the receiving destination expects.
    PI7.1
The newest release of SAP XI was released in the 4th quarter of 2007.  It is now called PI (Process Integration) 7.1.
Historically, SAP upgrades consists of large, comprehensive releases that compel companies to upgrade in order to take advantage of new functionalities.  PI 7.1 is brimming with new functionalities and these are the business benefits:
u2022     strategic u2013 business innovation and synchronized information improves decision pure technology upgrade and/or retrofit of custom modifications into new standard making
u2022     functional u2013 process improvement leads to improved productivity
    u2022     technical u2013functionality
In todayu2019s ever changing world of technology and business innovations, the ability to accelerate innovation and develop operation excellence better and faster than competitors is critical to a companyu2019s success.  Business processes are the key to unlocking the potential of these strategies for competitive differentiation. This upgrade paves the road to an enterprise SOA (eSOA) which allows companies to quickly build and modify business processes to adapt to rapidly changing markets.  With enterprise SOA, companies can unify stand-alone processes to quickly compose new end-to-end processes, selectively redesign existing processes and facilitate seamless process design and execution across company boundaries to take advantage of business partnersu2019 expertise.  Enterprise SOA (eSOA) unleashes the untapped potential of existing business process within and across company boundaries.
The mission of SAP PI 7.1 is to provide ONE integration platform for all types of business -- SAP and non-SAP, A2A, B2B, BPM, service enabling and BAM.  It saves operational costs and enable process transparency for all scenarios and leverage open systems.
The purpose of SAP PI is not to reinvent, but to leverage the investments you made
into your existing integration landscape and arrive at your new service enabled
    landscape in an evolutionary manner.
Below are the various business scenarios and processes available in PI 7.1:
Application-to-Application (A2A) u2013 It supports message-based and standard-based integration of internal company processes by seamlessly connecting SAP and non-SAP applications.
Business-to-Business (B2B) u2013 It provides functions to create and manage collaboration profiles and agreements between business partners.  It supports B2B industry standards such as RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) or CIDX. The Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) is used to exchange XML documents between small business partners or subsidiaries.
Business Process Management (BPM) provides functionality to adapt systems to changing processes.  It supports the entire life cycle of business processes u2013 from planning, implementation and monitoring to optimization.
u2022It gives the business users the ability to directly model, manage, monitor and analyze business processes
u2022Enables continuous process improvement and the dynamic modification of business processes
u2022Provides the ability to change process rules without additional IT investment, thus extending the companyu2019s core business investment and maximize the return on its strategic assets.
u2022Provides greater visibility into critical business operations for better decision making by delivering the right information at the right time
u2022Allows the integration of people, applications and internal external resources.
SAP PI 7.1 new features and capabilities are listed below:
    Enterprise Service Repository (ESR)
SAP has developed a comprehensive approach and a wide range of tools to support the service identification process and is business driven with a high degree of partner participation.  The business drivers in focus are :
         business process automation
         business process innovation
     user efficiency and deployment flexibility
SAP refers to this set as the inventory of enterprise services.  The inventory is known as Enterprise Services Inventory.  The Enterprise Services Inventory is an integral part of the Enterprise SOA (eSOA) strategy.  It provides the enterprise services to fulfill business needs.  The tools supporting the inventory is the Enterprise Service Repository (ESR).
This is based on the Integration Repository and is the design time repository of service object for ESA.  The advantages of having this central repository include
    Orderly development
Reuse of existing data and leverage existing investment

The Services Registry is the UDDI part of the ESR which enables service consumers to find services.
    Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (eSOA)
eSOA in PI 7.1 addresses the shortcoming of the previous XI architecture.  It provides the foundation needed to create a modernized and responsive technology environment.  The typical SOA approach tends to focus exclusively on the technology framework and neglect the larger business process.  A combined focus on both application and infrastructure is something that SAP provides called Enterprise SOA (eSOA).  It is SOA plus Enterprise Services which enables partners and customers to plug in reusable application snippets and enable flexibility within business processes.
It is a business-driven software architecture that increases adaptability, flexibility, openness and cost efficiency. This architecture elevates the design, composition and management of Web services to address enterprise requirements.
Major mapping enhancements as well as reusability of user defined functions across mappings.  It supports the use of parameters in mapping programs which gives it more flexibility and applicability by allowing the transfer of values at configuration time.  Currently, parameterized mappings are supported in Message, Java and XSLT mappings.
Folders concepts are introduced as an additional option to organize projects and interfaces. It is available in both the Enterprise Service Repository (ESR) and the Integration Directory (ID).
The main benefit of folders is to be able to create access authorization.  This helps prevent unauthorized display or changes to configurations of an integration process or specific objects.
Advanced  Adapter Engine (AAE) is the evolution of the Adapter Engine (AE) as known in previous releases.  Its capabilities are:
u2022It enables for end-to-end message processing without any help from the Integration Engine (IE) during runtime.
u2022It increases message processing speed and throughput by reducing latencies and resource consumption (both memory and processing time)
u2022It is available both centrally (i.e. with installation and instance of IS) and non-centrally
u2022Its features supports high volume and becomes the cornerstone of customers SOA strategy.
u2022Local Processing in AAE:  Integration Server (IS) is not involve during runtime (mapping and routing carried out within AAE)
u2022Classical Processing with AAE:  Processing also within through Integration Server (IS)
u2022Local processing is feasible for existing java-based adapters.  This represents a performance and resource usage improvement.
Point-to-Point (P2P) u2013 PI 7.1 provides a tool and infrastructure to centrally design, configure and support P2P connection.  Message types and interface can be designed in the Enterprise Services (ES) Repository without going through the Integration Engine (IE).  Connection configurations and communication channels can be done in the Integration Directory (ID) and configuration objects are automatically propagated to the backend business systems.
Additional Web Service (WS) standards such as UDDI, WS-BPEL and tasks, WS-RM which provides WS reliable messaging, policy, security and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) which is an XML standard for exchanging authentication and authorization between security domains.
WS-RM (Web Service-Reliable Messaging) is an open WS standard for asynchronous messaging (EO, EOIO).  Its purpose is to create a generic and open model for ensuring reliable message delivery for Web Services.  It is supported via its own entry through the Integration Engine (IE) and not through the adapter engine.  Other vendors, like Microsoft and IBM, supports WS-RM.

  • How to use pre-defined scenarios for RosettaNet with XI 3.0

    Hi all.
I am working in Comgroup Shanghai co. ltd. which is partner of SAP China.
We have a potential customer who use RosettaNet as their Supply Chain EDI system.
I would like to make a demo for demostrate the pre-defined scenarios for RosettaNet RNIF 2.0 packages.
Where can I find such guideline ? I have checked the article: implementing RosettaNet with XI 3.0, but it cannot help me.
Another question is how I can develop my own scenarios for the RNIF standards which are not included in XI RosettaNet business package ?

    Hi Andy,
See the instructions below after you installed the RosettaNet STK.
Below given is the sample config for PIP3B2 Scenario. Part I is using STK and Part II is using 2 XI systems.
    <b>Part I. Test Using STK</b>
    In your XI ID:
    1) Define both the parties 1) Shipper(Your Partner) 2) Receiver(Your company) with identifiers like DUNS Number.
    2) In ID goto>Tools>Transfer Integration Scenarios from IR-->select the scenario "PIP3B2_Receiver" from the drop down list.
    3) Follow the 4 steps in the config wizard.
    4) While creating your CC, create it from the channel template delivered with the RosettaNet BP.
4.1) Specify the URL for STK which should be in the following format
    http://<STK Server>:<port>/rosettanet/servlet/listenerServlet?userId=<Party Name>
4.2)In the location fields, enter your location and your partner location.
    In your STK
    1) Start the RosettaNet STK.
    2) enter the UserID<Partner Name in XI>
    3) Select the Test Scenario, 3B2V01.01-AdvanceShipmentNotification-0001-Scenario-Shipper
    4) Enter Global Business ID(DUNS Number) and Location ID for both the partners. These fields should be same as in your R/3 Party configuration.
    5) Enter the URL as follows:
    http://<XI Server:<J2EE_Port>/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF
If everything is configured correctly as mentioned, you should be able to test your single-action scenario.
<b>Part II Test using another XI System</b>
For these follow the steps above for XI Config.
Configure one XI System as PIP3B2 Shipper using the Scenario "PIP3B2_Shipper" and config wizard as mentioned above.
Configure the other XI as PIP3B2 Receiver using the scenario "PIP3B2_Receiver" and config wizard.
In the Url field, specify the URL as follows:
    http://<XI host>:<J2EE_Port>/MessagingSystem/receive/RNIFAdapter/RNIF
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sam Raju

  • XI Content for RosettaNet

I downloaded the RosettaNet content and imported it into the repository.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. As per the documentation (Business package for Rosettanet Configuration Guide - order to Invoice using XI), it should have 2 Software Components: Rosettanet 1.0 and Rosettanet R3.  But I see only Rosettanet 1.0. How do I get the other one?
    2. I am trying to define dependency for a Software component I created in the SLD with the Rosettanet SW component. But it is missing in the SLD. How do I get it there?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

to implement order to invoice you wud need any of the following; Rosettanet 1.0 or Rosettanet ERP component.
you can search and download the same in https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/swdc .

if you were askin on how to import a SCV in IR -> tools -> transfer from SLD is the option.
