Rotate during Slide to unlock will lock again

When waking my iPad (4th gen) it often takes some time before the correct device orientation is recognised and the screen rotates appropriately. If this happens during or right after I slided to unlock my iPad, it will rotate and again present the "slide to unlock" screen. Now however I am unable slide it far enough to unlock (It'll bounce back to locked as if I had only dragged a small distance, while I actually dragged to the edge of the screen) and I'm stuck in the lock screen. As far as I have found the only solution is to reset my iPad using the lock and home button. This problem already occurred occasionally on iOS7, but more frequently on iOS8.
- Does anyone else experience this problem?
- If so, is there another way to get past this problem, other than resetting my iPad?

You could try updating your software all the way to iOS 8.1 since your tag line states that you are running iOS 8.0.2. If that doesn't help, I would try resetting all settings before restoring the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost, but virtually all device settings have to be entered again. It is far less work than restoring and it can help with odd problems like this one.

hi the slider to unlock bar is not working.... how can i sort this problem i have tried to restart the phone and the slide to turn off button does not work either ,,,, i cant reinstall or factory restart and back up as i have a pin code on my phone...... help asap pretty please

Do you not have the photos in your iPhoto Library on your computer? If they are not on the computer then you never synced your phone to the computer so they would be transferred. If that's the case, then they are lost.

  • (Legally) unlocked iphone locks again when in airplane mode

I unlocked my iphone from O2 and it now has a Vodafone payg sim in it which works fine. However - whenever I put it into airplane mode it says 'different sim inserted' and needs activating in itunes again. Any ideas how I can stop this? Matt

I've got the same problem; any time my iPhone is put into flight mode, or if I power it off fully, or if I let the battery drain completely, it needs to be reactivated via iTunes. Inconvenient at home, makes the thing pretty much useless if I'm travelling abroad. I'm using a T-Mobile contract SIM, so it's not Vodaphone, or the fact it's PAYG.

  • HT1766 My touch screen does not seem to be working. The slide to unlock will not slide

My touch screen does not seem to be working. I can not slide to open my phone or slide to turn off.

You have tried restarting, right? Also, try holding the home and sleep/wake buttons together for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. See if that helps. If it doesn't and you think this is a hardware problem, taking it into the Apple Store is your best bet.

  • IOS 8.1.1 has 1-2 sec' of non responsive slide to unlock

Lag or delay when "sliding to unlock"
1 of 3 times of which I will try to "slide to unlock" will have a short delay of 1-1.5 seconds where the screen is not responsive.
as if it is waiting for something to load. only then I can unlock the phone and use it.
It can also happen when receiving a call, where you just want to throw the iPhone 6 plus on a wall! as it wont answer.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the widgets, but cannot be sure as it doesn't happen all the time and I cannot put it to the test.
Maybe problem with the widgets ?
when I'm sliding to open the widgets, the Reminders widget and another widget called "Swipe dial" widget blinks after a sec' as if it got updated.
For me it seems this issue effect the unlocking process of the iphone on the latest version.
It only started after the 8.1.1 version so no hardware issues here.
Anyone else with this problem ?

Both me & my dad are having this issue when receiving calls. you can press the accept buttin but nothing happens and the call just rings & rings. This has only started I the last few days for me (since 8.1.1 upgrade) but dads phoneis only a week old.

  • IPhone 3G "slide to unlock" won't work

iPhone 3G, ~18 months old. "slide to unlock" will not unlock phone. Touch screen cannot sense touches close to edge of screen, i.e. keyboard input "p" in portrait mode, space bar in landscape mode, cannot move app icons from one screen to another, etc. Restoring will permit you to make one call, but once screen timeout occurs, no longer usable.
Called Apple today to determine support options, there are NONE. Plus, you have to spend $29 to talk to someone after 12 months. I was told it would cost $125 to repair the phone. Never offered the option of upgrading to an iPhone 3G for free or the iPhone 4 for a significantly smaller sum.
Extremely disappointed, especially as an investor. Apple is sitting on $60B in cash reserves and they are not standing behind their products. If this was the first time I would let it go. But after having been thru similar support problems with three Apple AirPorts, two Time Capsules with junk power supplies that cannot be repaired, two PowerBooks with faulty hinges, and MacBook Air batteries, I am now venting. To top it off, I had to listen to a friend this weekend complain about similar issues, so we scheduled an appointment to visit the local Apple store only to be told when we got there we would have to wait another half hour. Given that all the components are sourced from external vendors, you would think Apple as part of a quality control program would have some interest in redesigning bad parts, identifying faulty components, and returning them back to their suppliers for repair, replacement or even better, credit. It might just ease some of the pressure at the Genius Bar.

Reset it: Hold down the sleep and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.

  • TS3274 my ipad slide to unlock wont respond

my ipad "slide to unlock" will not work for some reason, have tried connecting to computer, still no luck. anyone know whats wrong

    Try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IPad mini slide to unlock not responding

For some reason when the iPad mini is powered off then powered on, the slide to unlock will not immediately respond to my finger until several tries. But when it's on standby mode there is no problem. I already reset the iPad and updated to the latest OS but it is still doing that. Anybody has experience this and know any solution?

    Try this:
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.

Ipad will come on when you hit home and then slide the unlock bar works fine - then when you get to the home page where the icons are, nothing works - not the home button, it wont rotate, scroll, cant choose icons...nothing.  help!

  • HT201412 My lock screen is frozen. It will not let me slide to unlock or anything. I can't power it off because my lock button is broken and I can't do the assistive touch thing? Help!

My lock screen is frozen! It will not let me slide to unlock or touch the screen at all. I can't power it down either because the lock button is broken. A friend of mine said I might need a new Digitizer? Is there anyway I can avoid that? Pleasae Help!

I am having the SAME exact problem! Except instead of lock button broken it's my home button so I can't do the whole "put in recovery mode" deal. My screen only says "tap the home button 3 times" and it has my screen locked until I hit the home button but since it is broken I can't get in my phone at all. I have all of my work info in my phone so I'm screwed and can't get any help. PLEASE let me know if you find a way around this...!!!
    Thanks!

  • Unlock iphone will get lock again if i do reset all content and settings???

Unlock iphone will get lock again if i do reset all content and settings???

I do not understand you question. From the Users Guide.
    Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
What do you mean by unlock?

I am having Iphone 4s turbo sim unlocked . if i reset the network setting of my phone will it go locked again?

if your phone is legitimately unlocked it will not relock.  If you hacked your phone to unlock it, you should disclose this to the potential buyer.

  • Lock sound isn't working when I slide to unlock iPhone5 after iOS 7 upgrade

I just installed iOS 7 (which I now regret doing)...I now notice that the lock sound doesnt work when I "swipe" like it did prior to the iOS 7 upgrade. I checked my Settings/Sounds and the Lock Sounds is set to ON. When I "swipe" (slide to unlock), it unlocks the phone but it does this silently. I've shut the phone off, turned back on(rebooted) but nothing changes. Is this normal now with iOS 7? If so, why do we even have an unlock sound option in the Settings? Does anyone know how to get this fixed. I enjoyed hearing the unlock "click" sound prior to iOS 7.

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini, but I only had the problem on the iPad Mini but this fix may work for you.
This is what I posted in another thread:
I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE FIX FOR THIS! ... (Well it worked for me on my iPad Mini.)
I saw a post from an apple rep telling a iOS 6 user to turn the side switch on to un-mute the sounds. A no-brainier yes, but it made me wonder if the side switch may have been temporarily "confused" after updating to iOS 7 because it added the new settings screen that swipes up from the bottom of the screen. I was using my side-switch to lock the screen rotation and it was in the "off" (down) position (red visible) and none of my notifications were sounding. So I flipped it up and down a couple times which didn't solve the problem. So logically, I proceeded to what inevitably solved the problem...
Go to Settings > General / "Use Side Switch To" and select the opposite of what you are currently using. I had mine on Lock Rotation, so I selected Mute. Then flip your switch up and down slowly a couple of times to see that the confirmation on the screen is correct.  You may have to go back to settings again and select the other choice if you originally had Mute selected, I don't know because I originally had Lock Rotation in use.
Hopefully, this will fix your notification sounds (and the lock sound when you press the power button).  After using this fix, you can set the use of the side switch to your preference and still have all of your notification sounds!
