Rotate flat frontal view to side, cutaway view

I'm sure this question reveals that I need a true 3D package... Let's say I have drawn a plate, like a dinner plate. It has decorations all around it, and by drawing it with a purely frontal view (i.e., looking directly down on the plate), I was able to rotate copies of segment of the decoration x degrees around the center of the plate in order to create its full decoration. It also has depth an texture, easy enough to simulate in this frontal view and to duplicate around the perfect circle of the plate.
But now I need to show an edge view of this plate. With a cutaway. So, if you were to turn the plate in your hands and pretend it was cut in half (with the cut facing up), you would still see the lower half of the inner decoration, only now it is distorted because of the new view. Plus, the elevation of the outer edge is now apparent (not just indicated by shadows), so that decoration would be distorted by the elevation and curvature of the edge it is painted on.
It was already quite complicated to draw this frontally; I don't want to start from scratch just because I am viewing it from the side... I want to rotate this object in the Z dimension and have it look natural.
Are there any CS4 plugins that can take my vectors and map them to a wireframe, essentially, and let me rotate this as a 3D object? I want something more sophisticated than tools that map a flat design to a flat package, for example.

Would Adobe Illustrator 3D Effect be sufficient? this took about 30 seconds to create. You turn your art into a symbol and map it you might have to make a few symbols but you can achieve it I would think.
Here s how you map the art you create two symbols one for the center plane and the other for the rim if there is a rim.

    No.

  • HT4085 The only place where my screen doesn't rotate is while viewing my email.  It is fine with Safari etc.

    I can not view my email in portrait view only landscape.  This just started and I don't know how to fix the problem.

    Try closing the Mail app via the taskbar and see if it rotates when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • How to rotate to portfolio view?

    My screen does not automatically rotate when I turn the phone sideways.  Also I see a lock with a circle around it with an arrow at the top of the screen.  How do I go back to automatic rotate?

    Press the home button quickly 2 times, swipe the bar at the bottom to the right, press the 'lock' icon at the far left to unlock the rotation. The lock icon is the one with the circle arrow.

  • "flat file" at reciver side

    Hi, Folks. If any one knows receiver end settings, to receive flat file data(no of records). Please explain me receiver settings
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi,
    For the flat file data on the receiver side you have the do the FCC.
    <i>it is csv format only I also maintain file content conversion parameters as
    Row.fieldNames,
    Row.fieldSeparator,
    Row.endSeparator.</i>
    Instead of these parameters you have to use these ones:
    Row.addHeaderLine
    Row.fieldSeparator
    Row.endSeparator

  • When I turn iPad to side view email won't rotate

    Why won't email rotate when iPad turned to side view

    Try this. Close the mail app and reboot the iPad.
    Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Images rotated in Browser do not appear rotated in Viewer

    I have the following problem in Aperture 2.1. I rotate images in the Browser and they appear to rotate just fine, but when loaded into the Viewer the images do not appear rotated. When exported by dragging from the Viewer to the Desktop (or other folder location) the images are not rotated, but when exported via the File>Export>Version command they are rotated.
    What gives? Why do the images not appear properly rotated in the Viewer?
    System info:
    Macbook Pro Core Duo 2.16 GHz
    2 GB RAM
    Mac OS X 10.5.3

    Solved my own problem. Nuked the Aperture preferences and everything seems to be working now.

  • InDesign CS 4 reliable Ruler Guide locations in Rotate Spread View

    While working in a Rotate Spread View (90º CW) the X and Y location of the Ruler Guides will be no longer reliable until you Clear the Rotation.
    Sounds like a Bug or needs to be added in an update!

    They look reliable to me. The absolute coordinates don't change because you are just rotating the spread VIEW, not any positioning. If you rotate 90 degrees, the y ruler will now be horizontal and the x ruler will be vertical, but the zero point will remain in the same position on the page.
    That isn't to say it takes some getting used to. :)

    yes your phone rotation is in lock mode, you can unlock it from the control panel

  • Rotate view tool keystroke

    hi, is there a keystroke to quickly access the "rotate the canvas view", in the way you can hold down spacebar for a quick go of the hand tool?
    i realize "r" switches to the tool, but i'd like to use it like the spacebar hand tool so it springs back to brush tool when i'm done .
    if not, then FEATURE REQUEST

    np, glad it worked :-)
    It's not the most obvious behavior the first few times around, but is really handy and useful. This feature was introduced in CS4 (http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/2009/03/springloaded_cursors.html). Check out Julieanne's blog for a host of tips.

  • [iPhone] Rotating a view like iPod.app

    I've got a NavigationController based app, with a ViewController nested inside. When I rotate my device, I want to load in a custom UIView, which takes over the whole screen. When the device is rotated back, the old view comes back.
    So far I've had some success but I'm still having some trouble. The first time I rotate my device sideways, my custom view is loaded in (although to the wrong size..), which hides the nav controller. When I rotate back... well my custom view is still there, only takes the whole screen now.
    Here is some of my code:
    - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {
    return YES;
    - (void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration {
    [super willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:toInterfaceOrientation duration:duration];
    - (void)willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration {
    [super willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:toInterfaceOrientation duration:duration];
    if (toInterfaceOrientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft || toInterfaceOrientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeRight) {
    MyView *aView = [[MyView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame];
    [self.parentViewController setView:aView];
    NSLog(@"First half");
    - (void)willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration {
    [super willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:fromInterfaceOrientation duration:duration];
    NSLog(@"second half");
    - (void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation {
    [super didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:fromInterfaceOrientation];
    NSLog(@"did rotate");
    I know my first sizing issue is because I use self.view.frame before I rotate (thus getting the old frame -- before rotation).. but I don't know how to solve it otherwise (safe from hardcoding values which doesn't feel right).
    And how do I rotate my old view back?
    Thanks so much! This is really vexing.

    Some updated code:
    - (void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration {
    [super willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:toInterfaceOrientation duration:duration];
    if (toInterfaceOrientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft || toInterfaceOrientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeRight) {
    if (!self.graph) {
    JBGraphViewController *g = [[JBGraphViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
    self.graph = g;
    [g release];
    } else {
    //self.navigationController.navigationBarHidden = NO;
    - (void)willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration {
    [super willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:toInterfaceOrientation duration:duration];
    NSLog(@"First half");
    I'm still pretty much stuck.

  • Desktop content viewer doesn't rotate on Mac

    Using the latest tools on both platforms on Win (Vista) the viewer can be rotated using Cntrl R but on the Mac (Leopard) it doesn't rotate (using R and any of the usual modifyer keys), is this a bug?

    Hi Graham,
    on a Mac Command+R will rotate the Desktop Viewer. Perhaps you might have issues with your folio (missing orientation)?

You can view the message full size in portrait mode but not in landscape mode.... am I missing something here? I have looked for ways to hide the sidebar but can't find any. Can anyone help with this one... thanks. Kevin

    There is no way to hide the sidebar.
