Rotate Page Tool or Artboards?

Howdy
Does Illustrator CS5 have the ability to Rotate the page tool or artboards?
I have a large design that I also print out individual pieces at 100% scale.
Some times the pieces will not fit on a single piece of paper in landscape or portrait.
If I rotate the entire design I can get the element to fit diagonally on the paper.
My end product is both the large design and the individual designs.
Currently I have to create separate files to print out the individual designs - which are part of the total design.
I now have duplicate files that need to be updated - no good.
My designs have hundreds of layers with combinations of hidden and locked elements.
Thank you.

you have Illustrator CS5--do you also have Indesign CS5 or CS4?
IF you do....you can place your illustrator files into an Indesign document and rotate them there--so they fit on your paper (then if you change part of the design in an illustrator file--opening the Indesign file will update or ask you if you want to update links). End result should allow you to do what you want---if I'm understanding correctly what you mean by 'individual designs' and 'total design.

  • Rotating pages - not allowed in an unsecured document

I'm running Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3.  I would like to rotate the even pages of the document 180 degrees.
When I select the pages in the page view, or use the document menu, the "Rotate Pages" option is not available to me. (it's listed, but greyed out in the document menu).
When I look at the security options of the document, it is set to "no security" and everything listed is "allowed."  I have no options available to change anything on this page.
The document was originally submitted as a PDF/A version - I removed this information from the file using the preflight tool.  It still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

In the preferences set the entry 'View documents un PDF/A mode' to 'Never'.

  • Rotate page clockwise/counterclockwise

    Hello all,
I am using Acrobat DC and so far, I like the amount of customization possible. However, I am having a problem with the page rotation tool. I deal with scanned PDF's all day long and part of my workflow includes correcting page rotation. The optimal configuration would be for me to have "Rotate Counterclockwise" and "Rotate Clockwise" on the top toolbar, so I have added them there using "Customize Quick Tools".
The problem I have is that the tools work differently there than they do in the "Page Thumbnails" toolbar.  >.<
Once added to the top tool bar, even though the labels still properly say "Rotate Counterclockwise" and "Rotate Clockwise", BOTH buttons function as the CTRL+SHIFT+R shortcut and open the "Rotate Pages" dialog. >.<
If this is working as intended, is there some new workflow I need to learn that differs from XI?
I work on a small screen much of the time and cannot afford to have the Page Thumbnails bar open permanently when the tools pane won't stay hidden.
Even checking "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" in Preferences, the tools pane pops right back open again on a new document.  >.<
    Thanks in advance for help!

I've never seen this. I also rotate my pictures as needed in iPhoto. When I put them into a book, the stay vertical. Are you using iPhoto 6?

  • Cannot use Pages tools in Acrobat X for LC-built forms

Does anyone know why I can't use any of the Pages tools (rotate, extract, insert, crop, etc) in Acrobat X for a fillable form built in LiveCycle?

Because XFA-based PDFs have very limited editablity in Acrobat, especially for dynamic XFA forms.

  • Control "Rotate View Tool" (CS4) using Wacom touch strip

Hi, I am interested in controlling the rotate view tool using the intuos3 touch strip. This provides a much more paper like experience when rotating the page while sketching. Is this something that could be done with a plug-in? My development skills lie primarily in C# .net so C programming is a bit foreign to me, but I would be willing to develop it if no one else has looked into, or is interested in looking into this.
    Thank you,
    Nathan

After some digging I found a method. Open Wacom settings panel, goto the touch strip tab, select "Keystroke..." function, for up enter "r{Enter}{Shift}{Up}{Enter}" and down "r{Enter}{Shift}{Down}{Enter}". This will rotate your view by 10 degrees at a time. Remove the {Shift} and it will rotate at 1 degree increments; I found 1 degree to be far too slow. The only thing that would make this method a bit better would be a "select last tool" key-combo, as the rotate tool is still selected when finished. If any one is aware of such a command please let us know.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

  • WHEN Illustrator is likely to be adding "rotate view" tool, (like they have in Photoshop) or are they NOT GOING TO?!

Hi everyone, I am trying to find out WHEN Illustrator is likely to be adding "rotate view" tool, (like they have in Photoshop) or if they are not going to do this at all.
I hope someone from Adobe Illustrator reads these forums and responds. There is an existing thread that has no official response from Adobe, and it has literally tens of thousands of views!? Please Adobe Illustrator, can you give people the official response they need so they can plan their workflow.
Apparently Affinity Designer is going to be adding a Rotate View Tool shortly and their app is only $50 one-off payment too, so perhaps you ought to respond before other people start making the switch? The rotate view tool is something illustrators really need, we already have it in Manga Studio, and it makes life so much easier. You can't really draw on a CINTIQ in vector form without it, at least not as well as you should be able to.
Can you please update your paying customers so we can make an informed decision.
Look forward to receiving a response.

  • Can I change the order or rotate pages in acrobat reader?

This may be a silly question... I actually own & use Pro, so I don't use Reader. But my grandmother has the reader and wants to know if she can change the order of pages (and rotate pages) in acrobat reader. Or does she need to buy acrobat standard?
    Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, she can't with just the free Reader. But she can ask you to do it for her...

  • Acrobat Pro V8.1.2 "Invalid Page Range" Error - Rotate Pages

    Hi,
I have Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8.1.2. For the last couple of weeks every time I try to rotate a page in any direction I get the following error:
    "Invalid Page Range" (OK)
I have tried every combination of options for amount of rotation and page range (all, selected, specify). No matter what I do I get the same message. I have tried this on several different documents both encrypted and unencrypted.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

I know this is nearly 4 years late, and I realise this may not have been the cause with the original post, but for the sake of covering this issue for anyone who searches and lands on this page:  The most common cause for receiving this "invalid page range" error when attempting to rotate pages is becaue the option for "Even and Odd Pages," "Even Pages Only," or "Odd Pages Only" drop-down choices are inconsistent with the selection.  For example, if you're trying to rotate just page 1, but the selection "Even Pages Only" is slected, then you will receive this error.  You will find this option in the options window that appears when you click the Rotate command.
Just my two cents after trying to remedy this over and over with users.
    Cheers!

  • Page tool prevents use of Print Booklet feature in InDesign CC2014

Having used the page tool at one time, but with all pages set to the correct size, the print booklet error message is that the booklet doesn't fit the current paper size.
There have been previous discussions, but I can't find one active. The discussion shows as answered, but not resolved. early 2012 this issue was reported as a bug and it is InDesign CC2014, 10.1.0.71 Build. This is the Cloud and this issue has not been resolved.
I went so far as to create a new document and take all the objects from one document and copy to the new document and the issue still exists. I created the document originally in InDesign CS6.I copy pasted contents into a clean document in CC2014. This is a valuable document that needs to be edited and used in the future.
Can someone please respond as to: if this bug that has been reported numerous times in the past, will it ever be fixed? Are we eliminating print booklet at some point so it isn't worth the investment? I don't get it. If there is another discussion open for this, I can't find it. Thanks.

That is not a correct answer. My question was not addressed, however, I very much appreciate the workaround. Go figure…. I think there is a feature in InDesign that if not working, should be removed by the software developers. [back to my question.]
I need to print proofs for a variety of people where I work. I don't want to explain my software is broken and they will need to proof single pages.
I did not know about the print booklet feature in Acrobat. That should suffice nicely.
I still didn't get my question answered, however, so please don't close this discussion.

  • Rotated Pages not Printing Properly

    Greetings All,
I'm not sure whether this is more an Acrobat issues or Word. I'm sure each would say the other.
Working in Word 2010 with files that have some hi res images in them. We're using the Acrobat X PDF Maker Office COM Addin as it was the only way I found to get the full resolution of the images. The books also have pages that are rotated in Word to landscape. Once PDF'd those pages are then rotated in Acrobat to be right-reading. Which all seems fine on the screen.
When printed to a laser printer, however, the pages that were landscape in Word and rotated in Acrobat sit lower on the printed sheet than the "regular" pages which are portrait in Word and therefore NOT rotated in Acrobat, ONLY when this button at the bottom left of the Acrobat print dialog is turned ON:
If the "Auto..." button is on it prints correctly. It's almost as if the rotation in formation within the Acrobat file is incorrect.
This happens when printed form Acrobat versions 9, 10 and 11.
Has any one seen this and is it something the printer may have trouble with?
    Thanks for reading,
    Ken

I've printed the PDF on 3 different printers, all get the same result.
An interesting note (and maybe a clue?) that I hadn't bothered mentioning is that for the previous book in this series, using the same Word 2010 template, we used Word's Save As PDF to create the PDF. It wasn't until we were making the final PDF for the printer that we realized Word wasn't exporting the art at full resolution.
WHICH MAKES NO BLOODY SENSE AT ALL!!! (sorry for the rant - we ended up editing the PDF going to the printer and replacing the low res art Word put in with high res versions)
THAT PDF does not have this problem. Whether it's from having been created with the SaveAs or whether it was the extensive editing in Acrobat I can't possibly say. I DID try saving the PDF from Acrobat but it didn't fix the rotated pages problem.
    Thanks for chiming in!

  • Controlling the 'Rotate View Tool'

    Hi there,
I'm a Flash/Flex developer working with PatchPanel and SwitchBoard to build AIR apps that can communicate with Creative Suite tools.
I was hoping to write a PatchPanel plug-in that would be able to control the 'Rotate View Tool' in Photoshop CS4 however, when I looked through the DOM there was no mention of it within the JavaScript Reference. My next tactic was to use the ScriptListener plug-in to record the action but alas, the resulting log did not contain the 'amount of rotation' as a variable :-(
Can anyone verify whether it is possible to dynamically control the 'Rotate View Tool'? If so, how would I go about passing the desired rotation value from my PatchPanel plug-in to Photoshop?
I should also say that I do not have access to the Photoshop SDK and have no experience of C++ but am willing to invest some time into solving this problem because I have something REALLY sweet planned. I'll keep it a surprise for now but if I can find a solution then I'd be more than happy to share it freely.
    Many thanks in advance...

    Hi Andy,
It doesn't look like there are public APIs in the SDK. You've also found that what you want is not Actionable, thus no scripting support. Sorry.
Feel free to drop me an email and I can file a feature request.
    regards,

  • How to activate pages(+) tool in toolbar

I am in a document, with the pages drawer open; I need to add new pages to my document, but the pages(+) tool in the toolbar remains dimmed, and I have not yet found any way of making it active. All the other tools are active or can be activated. Since I have not seen this problem mentioned in the forum, I must be missing a simple trick, I wonder what it is?
Alternatively is there a way round the problem?

    JBod,
    welcome to the Discussions.
Which template do you use? I guess it's some kind of self-defined template, maybe based on the Blank template.
You can add template pages, thus activating the icon, this way:
    * Mark one page in the Thumbnail drawer.
    * Choose Format/Advanced/Capture Pages…
Pages will ask you if you for a name for the template pages and offer to choose all pages or only the first page, the first two or the first three pages of your section (if they exist).
However, you should only do this with a file that you want to use as a template for other documents. Capturing pages in an ordinary document is (in my opinion) a waste of time.
To add a new page, follow either Dennis' advice or just keep on typing your text. Pages will then add a new page which is treated together with its predecessor as a so-called logical page. Pages will draw a yellow frame around a logical page when you mark it in the Page Thumbnails drawer.
If this information is useful to you, please mark it as "helpful" or "solved" using the little buttons in the titlebar of this message. Thank you.

  • Page Tool and Layout Adjustments - for iPad

Is there a good way to resize a document in InDesign CS5? I work at a print publication that needs to re-adjust the page specs to a size that is compatible with the iPad. I tried using the 'Page Tool and Layout Adjustments' but I find them not very good! Or I might not be using them proplerly? Can anyone please even point me to any free tutorials online?
    Thanks

The new "liquid layout" adjustments are not intuitive and you DO need to see them demonstrated. Here are a couple of videos made by Anne-Marie Concepcion for Lynda.com which are available thru Adobe TV:

    I hope they help!
