Rotated Portraits problem

Rotated Portraits problem
A new camera had an auto rotate feature turned on without my knowing about it. When imported into iPhoto, the photos came in as normal, including the portraits being imported as landscape as with my older camera without the auto rotate feature. (Apparently, this version of iPhoto, 5.0.4, does not know about auto rotates.) I then rotated all of the portraits with the iPhoto Rotate menu item, which on the surface, seemed to work correctly.
The problem showed up when I exported some of the portraits into iMovie. The photos which were rotated in iPhoto, came into iMovie as Landscape. (Apparently, iMovie doesn’t know about auto-rotates either.).
The bad part of all of this is when I attempted to “Revert to Original” some of the portraits in iPhoto, none of them reverted to Landscape. Looking in the “Originals” folder, I observed that the portrait originals were also rotated, which they should not be. Reverting to original simply moves that rotated portrait to the folder one level up in the directory (the one with dated folders) and deletes it from the Originals folder.
Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so, is there a way to correct it?
(BTW, Final Cut Express also has a problem with these photos and rotating them there is not as easy as within iMovie.)

How did you export to iMovie?
The photos were dragged from the iPhoto viewer pane directly into the iMovie timeline. The very same behavior occurs when importing the photos into Final Cut Express, either by way of the Browser or directly into the FCE timline.
Photo, seeing the flag, reads the intention and creates a modified version.
I assume you meant iPhoto (first word above)
If you then try to Revert to Original, iPhoto will remove the edited version. However, when it then looks at the Original file again, it sees the flag, and creates a new rotated version. This loop will run as long as you Revert to the Original.
How certain are you about that. I don't believe iPhoto 5 knows about the auto-rotate tag in the exif file. If it did, it would have rotated the portraits as they were being imported. The portraits all came in landscape and had to be rotated later as with my older camera without this feature.

  • N82 Auto Rotate (Accelerometer) Problem !

    Anyone has problem with auto rotate? My N82 its kinda very hard to auto rotate. I do know it will not rotate on stand by screen and only rotate anti clock wise. The phone is just 2 weeks old, the auto rotate just work fine for the first week. Suddenly i notice when i rotate the phone, the display won't rotate. I need to shake the phone very hard then it will rotate. At first i think maybe its because by 3rd party application, so i decided to upgrade the firmware so it will remove all data and fix the problem. But there were no upgrade available, so i decided to reinstall the firmware. After done reinstall the firmware, i found out the problem still there. Than i remember that N82 will preserve all user data. So the 3rd party apps still there. So i remove all the apps manually and then restart the phone. But the auto rotate still had the problem. So i think maybe its related to memory because i restore all the messages and contacts from my old N73. So i delete all the messages and contacts and restart the phone, but still the same. Than i call NOKIA helpline to ask about the problem. They suggest me to full format without preserve user data and only NOKIA care center can do that. So the next day i went to nearest NOKIA care center to get my phone full format. But after almost 2 hours waiting, i collected my phone and get it tested there. But the auto rotate still problem. I so frustrated, so i ask the technician there about the problem. They said its work fine when they just finished format it. They said maybe its hardware problem. They ask me to go to the HQ b'coz they do not have the tool and parts to repair it and it will took ages to wait. So then again the next day i went to HQ to get my phone checked. I arrived there around 5pm. They say, its kinda late and i need to leave my phone there to get it checked. They said if i came earlier i can get my phone checked and fixed within the same day. So, i leave my phone there and they kinda promise me that my phone will get fixed the next day. The next day before i go to pick up my phone i call them to check the status off my phone, they said they haven't check my phone yet. It's already 2PM, and i ask when my phone will get fixed, they said they cant be sure and they will call me later. After done talking with them, i get dressed and drove there to ask personally about my phone. I cant wait any longer. I just bought the phone only for 2 weeks and haven't finish and bored played with it yet. So i arrived there around 3:30PM. So i ask them about my phone, they said it cant be done by today because they already had my phone disassembled and need to wait for the parts. When i heard about my phone had been disassembled, my heart it like had been crushed. There goes my money, i felt so frustrated and its just a waste of money to buy that phone. They didn't even bother to replace the phone and get me to wait and for how long i don't even know. And now i am so **bleep** off after they had wasted my MONEY / TIME / ENERGY / EFFORT.
    I am still waiting from NOKIA about my phone and like to know if any of you guys here had the same problem?

    I do not fully understand the word "lethargic". I know its not will be perfect, but my N82 do not auto-rotate at all. Like i said, i need to shake it very hard to make it auto-rotate. If its only me, why NOKIA has to disassembled the phone and replace the motherboard. Thats what make me felt frustrated. I just bought the phone for 2 weeks. The phone its not cheap, and i am not rich you know.
    About going or taking it to service center. Its not i don't like to go there or their service is bad. The thing is, i have to go there 3 times and still my phone don't get fixed. And then i need to wait and i do not know for how long i must wait. Again, like i said. My phone is new and only 2 weeks old. I don't get to play much with it and had to send for service. Why don't they just replace the phone with new one. I still have other work to do other than going to service center.
    Again, again and again. Why i must do all this for a new phone?
    I think anyone will agree with me about this.

  • Illustrator CC Rotate Tool Problem

    So I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but it seems I'm having issues with the accuracy of the rotate tool in Illustrator CC. When I rotate an object 90 degrees (either by entering in the rotate angle value or using the free rotate tool), the anchors no longer line up exactly. Here's a sample image showing what I'm referring to:
    Note the red arrow pointing to the line not being straight. After I release the rotation (holding shift), it still isn't straight. Anyway, this is really starting to bug me. My software is up-to-date and I haven't seen Adobe release anything on this. Has anyone else noticed/encountered this? If so, does anyone know of a fix for it?

    dj,
    It does look rather strange: everything seems to be right, except for the two short not quite horizontal segments.
    As far as I can see it rules out both an Align to Pixel Grid and a Constrain Angle issue.
    With no clue, I have no clue whether the following may help.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Keynote 09 (with OS 10.6) rotation effect problem

    My Keynote 5.0.3 (iWork 09), with 10.6.2 (or with 10.6.1) does not allow me to use the rotate action effect (in Builds). When I select an image and choose Builds > Action > Rotate, a grey window appears in which one could insert another image. The angle popup does not appear, and neither does the clockwise/counterclockwise popup. I am given a fading effect, not rotation!
    Rotation worked perfectly in iWork 08, which I fortunately have not trashed. What is even more surprising is that when I chose the effect for one image in iWork 08, then opened the file in iWork 09, the actual rotation popup menu is shown for that image, but remains impossible for any other object.
    Anyone with the same problem?

    I have installed Keynote in two computers, my home MacBook and my work iMac. Both have the same problem.
    This might have something to do with the Finnish version though - a colleague at a Finnish discussion forum was also unable to find the '08 type Rotate menu. I'll try reinstalling with another language.

  • Need Help In Solving Rotation Image Problem

    Hi guys ,
    I need your help please. I have spent hours trying to solve it but not working.
    I have an image i am rotating when the user clicks on a button. But it is not working.
    I would like to see the image rotating gradually till it stops but it doesn't. This it what it does. After i click the button, i don't see it rotating. But when i minimize and maximize the main window, i see the image just rotate(flip) fast like that. It does the rotation but i don't see it as it is doing. It just rotate in a second after minimize and maximize the main window.
    I thimk the problem deals with updating the GUI as it is rotating but i don't know how to fix it.

    ..Please i have trimed down the code for easy reading. ..Perhaps I am just lazy, but I don't actually like reading code until I've seen it compile in my editor & run. That is why I will advise that for better help sooner, post an SSCCE. For SSCCEs that use images, either generate an image in the code, or hot-link to an image available on the internet. I offer some [images at my site|http://pscode.org/media/#image] that you can hot-link to.

  • Rotate tool problem

    I just installed inDesign CS4 on my new mac and am having a problem with my rotate tool. When I try to rotate a polygon it somehow skews it too. I can't figure out if the settings are wrong but it only seems to happen with polygons. Any idea what's going wrong?

    First thing, make sure you've run the updater. Last patch for CS4 was 6.0.6.
    Next, what OS version?

  • Rotated text problem from Word picture into Framemaker 12

    problem copying a Microsoft Word picture with rotated text into Framemaker - the rotated text gets stacked (each letter is individually rotated)

    It's probably due to how Word defines the rotations for the text and FM's import filters handle it differently. It might be easier to re-create the words in FM if it's not too complex. Alternatively, save the page with the graphics from Word as PDF and then import the graphic from the PDF to FM (you can crop and/or trim as needed in Acrobat).

  • Rotate app Problem

    I have a Nokia E60 and i want to use it in "rotate" mode, so I used the Roatate app bundled with the phone. It looked great for 5 or 10 minutes when I could not access other applications like message, Web, Calendar ... . I had to restart it for it to work.
    I had this problem the first day I bought it!!!! With no 3rd party software installed or any special settings.
    According to Nokia Updater my phone has the latest firmware.
    Does anybody experienced problems like this? What should I do? I like the landscape mode.
    Thanks.
    PS: My avatar is an E60 (/discussions/i/icons/Products/e60.gif). Good job Nokia employees!

    I am also having the same problem even though nothing is locked. I do not now know what to do to get it working. I have taken the smart cover off, turned off my ipad2 but still not working.

  • K1 screen rotation lock problem

    To all the experts on the board,
    I bought a K1 tablet and played with it for a week. After the system updates, everything works reasonably well except the screen rotation lock. I push the screen lock button down as instructed, but the screen still rotates. Any idea how to fix the problem? Many thanks in advance!

    I've had the K1 for over a year now and I have noticed some trends with the rotation lock slider not working correctly.
    First off, I want to make clear that when I say the slider isn't working correctly, I mean that even with the Rotation Lock OFF, the screen stays in whatever position it was last in, whether it's portrait or landscape, no matter how much I move or reorient the tablet. The notification for the slider pops up on the screen as if it were working normally switching between locked and unlocked, so it doesn't seem like a hardware issue.
    When the rotation lock does stop functioning, a system reset serves to fix the issue for a while. After a few days on standby or with intermittent use, the rotation lock stops working again.
    As a side note, applications that are landscape only can force the tablet out of portrait and applications that are portrait only can force the tablet out of landscape, however when the applications close, it's hit or miss if the tablet stays in the new orientation or jumps back to the old one.
    Also, I have noticed that the rotation lock never started acting up until after I inserted a microSD card. Can anyone else verify that this trend happened for them as well? What's even stranger is the fact that at first the card wouldn't even mount, but as soon as it was inside the tablet, that's when I noticed the rotation lock wasn't responding. It was a 32GB microSD high capacity, so I chocked it up to the firmware of the tablet not being compatible with such a large sized microSD card. I tried a smaller microSD card andeverything seemed to work fine. The only reason why I went back to the 32GB card is that I happened to try it some time later and the system was able to read it.
    I really like the tablet and it's kind of frustrating that there's still not really a good solution to this. Any feedback or help would be appreciated.
    Thank you kindly,
    MW

  • OpenGL Rotation Origin Problems

    Hi guys,
    I've had a browse around and can't seem to find any mention of this, i'm starting to make progress with learning OpenGL, but theres one thing thats totally throwing me off for the time being. Maybe someone will be kind enough to shed some light on this for me.
    Currently, i am simply rendering a textured rectangle to the screen. I was thumbing through tutorials and wanted to improve my rendering by adding in some rotation and possibly throw in some alpha blending when i came across this post http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/2060-how-extend-texture 2d-opacity.html
    Huzzah i thought, as i happily modded my blitting method to include rotations and was presented with a slightly rotated object, but all was not as expected. For some reason (which i'm sure is totally obvious), the rectangle is rotated about the top left point, ie: 0.0, 0.0 which is really what i would expect, 0.0, 0.0 being the origin and all... but i want my object to be rotated around its center point, not the origin of the screen.
    I have set up my glOrthof and glViewport for landscape orientation as such:
    glViewport(0.0, 0.0, backingWidth, backingHeight);
    //other stuff here
    glOrthof(0.0, backingHeight, backingWidth, 0.0, -1.0, 1.0);
    This gives me a landscape orientation with the top left coords being 0.0, 0.0 and bottom right being 480.0, 320.0 which is my prefered coordinate system. As of such, this appears to be the main origin for all object rotations, which isn't really what i want. Is there any way i can translate an objects origin to rotate around its center point?
    for example, if i were to render the rect:
    my_rect = CGRectMake(backingWidth / 4, backingHeight / 4, backingWidth / 2, backingHeight / 2);
    a small rect half the width and height of the device would be presented directly in the center of the screen. Any rotations made to this however would be about the origin of 0.0, 0.0 of the screen and not the object itself. Is there any way to fix this so that the object would rotate around its center piont, in this example being the center of the screen?
    I dont mind changing the coordinate system if needs be, but i would still prefer to use the current 0.0, 0.0, 480.0, 320.0 landscape orientation as opposed to -1.0, 1.0, 1.0, -1.0 unless of course it would be a feasible endeavour to write a utility function to convert between the two coordinate systems when rendering?
    It seems that rotations must be made around the origin of the screen/device (0.0, 0.0) but surely that can't be the case as not every object/model rendered is required to rotate around the origin, but rather its own origin, if that makes sense?
    Is there a way to set the rotation origin, or translate the object to the screen origin, rotate and back again?
    Using the coordinate system 0.0, 0.0, 480.0, 320.0 for landscape orientation works perfectly, but obviously this issue with rotating objects around the origin is completely holding up any progress i can make.
    Please, if anyone knows of a method, or any tutorials that can outline what must be done, i would be very grateful for any help you guys can throw my way
    Just for completeness, the code i'm using for rotation is:
    glRotate(rotation, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0);
    Simple as it may seem, that one single line has caused me a weekend of headaches and very little progress. I'm positive there must be a way to fix this, can anyone point me in the right direction please?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading

    Sorry to bump the post, but this is really starting to grind my gears. If anyone can provide a push in the right direction, i really, really would appreciate it
    I'm simply modding the Texture2D class from Apple's CrashLanding app to suit my needs but have hit this one stumbling block.
    The code i currently have is taken from Texture2D and modifed slightly, as follows:
    - (void)drawInRect:(CGRect)rect withRotation:(GLfloat)rotation
    GLfloat coords[] = {
    0.0, _maxT,
    _maxS, _maxT,
    0.0, 0.0,
    _maxS, 0.0
    GLfloar vertices[] = {
    rect.origin.x, rect.origin.y, 0.0,
    rect.origin.x + rect.size.width, rect.origin.y, 0.0,
    rect.origin.x, rect.origin.y + rect.size.height, 0.0,
    rect.origin.x + rect.size.width, rect.origin.y + rect.size.height, 0.0
    glPushMatrix();
    //this line is my assumed fix, but needs refining
    glTranslate(0.0, 0.0, 0.0);
    //rotate
    glRotate(rotation. 0.0, 0.0, 1.0);
    glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, _name);
    glVertexPointer(3, GL_FLOAT, 0, vertices);
    glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, coords);
    glDrawArrays(GL_TRIANGLE_STRIP, 0, 4);
    glPopMatrix();
    The above code renders my rect properly with the right dimensions, at the right coordinates.
    The problem im having is that any rotations are made around the top left corner of the rect, which is the top left corner of the screen. I've set my viewport and glOrtho to present in landscape orientation which works fine, but obviosuly the rotations aren't what i desire.
    Surely there must be a way to "move" the origin about which the texture is rotated, ideally to the center of the texture itself. However, no matter what params i pass to glTranslatef(); it always rotates around the top left point of the rect itself.
    Please, please, can anyone help with this as it is really starting to drive me mad. Any help would be fantastic, a tutorial, a few lines of code or improvement upon what i posted above. Anything will do, i really want to get this solved so i can move on with things.
    Thanks for taking the time to read, i look forward to any replies

  • Rotated photos problem on Lumia 930, 1520 with Denim update

    There is an issue with photos taken on Lumia 930, 1520 with Denim update: camera uses EXIF rotation property instead of properly rotating the picture. As a result, apps which don't properly support EXIF.Rotation show photos rotated.
    To reproduce, take the photo in vertical orientation on Lumia 930 with Denim update. Open Instagram official app (as an example), try adding new photo ->> you'll see that the photo is 90 degrees rotated.
    Now question: is it a feature or is it a bug?
    And if it is a feature, where is it documented?

    Thanks for reply.
    Well, I am a developer writing my own app.  And what I see is a sudden change in phone camera behavior, which affects and annoys lots and lots of users of my app (VK for WP), Telegram messenger app, and Instagram app, which I used as an example, because
    it is well known.
    It does seem like a feature to me now, so would't it make sense to have some native support for it? For example, make BitmapImage pay attention to EXIF and correctly rotate?
    And again: is this change documented anywhere?
    And please, bring my question where it was originally posted.

  • Rotating picture problem

    I am trying to get pictures to rotate every few seconds automatically. I inherited the site from someone else, and I tried to just copy the ss hype container and ss hype generated script that they wrote, but I cannot get it to work. I think it has to do with the numbers at the end ... the ?14801 just before the "></script>
    The code is pasted below. Can someone tell me where the ?14801 comes from? The referenced source ss_neuropsychology_Resources folder contains a hype.js file, a PIE.htc file, a ssneuropsychology_hype_generated_script.js file, as well as the pictures that rotate.
    <div id="ssneuropsychology_hype_container" style="position:relative;overflow:hidden;width:360px;height:240px;">

    I simply want to do this exact same thing on the Memory Care Clinic page (right now I have it pointing to the Neuropsych page photos, but they want me to have different photos for each).
