Rotated/sideways iPhoto pictures on screensaver

My wife's Macbook plays her screensaver from the iPhoto Library randomly. It plays well and starts and stops just right but many of the photos are rotated when they play in screensaver mode. They are not rotated in iPhoto. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks

If you turned the camera to get a vertical picture that is the way they are stored. You have to go in rotate them 90 degrees and then re-save them to correct this.

  • IPhoto Pictures and Screensaver

    Hi,
I have my Leopard screen server pointing at my Pictures folder. All my pics are in iPhoto.
However, in iPhoto the pics are hidden in a package and it also creates a thumbnail for each picture.
So, you can only point the screen saver at the Pictures directory which includes the thumbnails. It frequently picks thumbnails or original photos (before red eye fixes) and displays them full screen - which is irritating. Has anyone figured out how to point the screen saver at the main pictures directory. Of is there another way of doing it?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
In the left hand pane of your ScreenSaver panel there's a listing for 'iPhoto Albums", this will use the albums and events for the Screensaver, and so avoid the thumbs.

  • Lion ScreenSaver re-active hang during read my iPhoto pictures

    Hi,
My Lion cannot display password logon during screensaver is reading my iPhoto pictures.
Because I setup my screensaver to random display my iPhoto pictures.
I have an external monitor with my MacBook. Both of my monitors will display iPhoto pictures with screensaver.
Screen hang if i'd like to re-active from screensaver to normal operation mode.
That will be fine if screensaver reads iPhoto pictures and start to display them.
Hang status happen during screensaver still reading iPhoto pictures for 2~3 seconds and before display them.
Please check what's happen with this kind of issue for current Lion OS X 10.7.3
    Many thanks

    Hi Mike,
I just saw this post and saw no one has responded.  You might have figured out but in case, I wanted to let you know what I found out.  I had the same problem.  Hard drive failure, they installed a new one and my iPhoto pictures were missing.  I couldn't find them on Time Machine either which baffled (and frustrated) me b/c I just backed up my drive and I was missing pictures from over a year ago.
I found this article and it allowed me to at least find my pictures...so they weren't lost after all.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16029742#16029742
As for why they aren't showing up in iPhoto or Time Machine, the lady at the Mac store said it is probably an OS conflict.  Which makes sense since I can see the actual pictures in the iPhoto content file (per the article mentioned above).  However, I didn't have my computer with me at the store to have a Genius person help me resolve the conflict.
BUT, if you can find the pictures, then maybe you can reimport them into iPhoto?  Just a thought.
    Good luck!

  • Combine iTunes Artwork screensaver w/ iPhoto pictures screensaver?

I've been trying to find a way to combine the iPhoto screensaver with the iTunes album artwork screensaver. So my iPhoto pictures would fling onto the screen, but when a new song played, I'd get the album artwork for that song flipped out as a picture....anyone have a clue as to how I could do this? I thought Automator might be the way to go

Thanks for the suggestion. I already had "put hd to sleep" unchecked and "put computer to sleep" at never, but I tried unchecking the reduce brightness box, and that didn't change the problem.

  • Some iphoto pictures not usable as desktop background

I want to set my desktop background as a slideshow of my favourite iPhoto'08 pictures. While experimenting, I've discovered that some of my iPhoto pictures don't seem to work as a desktop background.
Here's what I do (and note that I'm translating from a Swedish version of OSX here):
Right-click on the desktop, choose 'Change desktop background'. In the 'Desktop and Screensaver' dialog, Desktop tab, scroll down the left-hand side list of iPhoto albums (among other things), and select my favourite iPhoto album (Flagged). Wait for the previews to load. Select one of the pictures.
Now, what happens can be one of two things. Either I'll see a slightly bigger preview in the left upper corner of the dialog and I'll see the desktop background change to the picture in question. Or I'll only see the slightly bigger preview in the left upper corner, and the desktop background will turn a boring solid color.
Now, iPhoto itself has no problems with these pictures, and shows them properly. Also, if I use the little + below the left-hand side list to add a folder on the harddrive directly to the list, I can get the broken pictures to show up correctly, as long as I don't go through iPhoto.
So, yeah, that gives me a potential workaround: Export my favourite album now and then, and use the exported folder as background slideshow source. I'd rather have a better solution, where things just work like they're supposed to.
The pattern I've noticed is that iPhoto-modified pictures work fine, non-iPhoto-modified pictures don't seem to work. (That is, if right-clicking on a preview in iPhoto has the menu item 'Show original file' active, the picture will work, if the item is greyed out, the picture won't work.)
A relevant detail in this may be that I've set iPhoto to not copy imported pictures into the library.
    Any hints, clues? Now what?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I think this relates to using a Referenced Library:
iPhoto-modified pictures work fine, non-iPhoto-modified pictures don't seem to work.
In other words, iPhoto will share the files it controls (the modifieds are inside the Library Package) and not the ones that it wont.
Simple test: Create a Managed Library (Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library', import a few pics and see if that works as expected.

  • Help Using iPhoto Photos as Screensaver

I had a 1st Gen ATV for years, but it finally died on me and I recently replaced it with a 3rd Gen ATV.  One of the primary ways I used the old ATV was to display a large number of my iPhoto pictures on the screensaver.  Through iTunes, I was able to select the specific events, albums, etc I wanted to sync.  Is there anything roughly equivalent with the ATV3?  How do I select the photos for the screensaver?  Thanks.

Overall, it's not really a lot different with the new Apple TV. Screensaver photos are chosen from the photos you have chosen to be available at Computers > Photos.
However the way you choose the photos for Computers > Photos is quite different and the screensaver has some limitations.
Photos are now chosen from iTunes > File > Homesharing > Choose Photos....... The screensaver on the new Apple TV 2 or 3 does not have the storage available to it that the Apple TV 1 did and consequently only a selection of photos from large albums are used.

  • Iphoto pics as screensaver

I have set my screensaver to view random photos from my iphoto folders, which works fine for a few minutes then only rotates between 2 photos. I have tried different folders, but still the same thing happens! Is there anything I need to be doing to correct this problem, either in iphoto or the screensaver section? thanks

We are having the same problem also and NO ONE ever answers our posts. We also posted this topic in the Using Leopard forum. I don't think anyone has a clue as to why this does this.

  • Imported iPhoto Pictures Disappeared

    Hello Fellow Mac Users!
I have a 2011 MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.5 and it has all recent updates. I plugged in my Nikon D5100 and imported photos to iPhoto '11. I split and named the events. I imported all of the photos (and unfortunately clicked "Delete Photos from Camera After Import"). All of the photos disappeared from iPhoto (some are in photo stream), I cannot open photo stream from iPhoto on my MacBook (I can open it from my iPhone), and now some events don't have any photos when opened (although they show having photos from the events library) and some are misnamed with the event names from the import.
I have read and write permissions for iPhoto (I am the admin).
I tried restarting the program and computer. There aren't any updates that I am missing. Also, I held down command and alt while launching iPhoto, but no additional dialogue boxes were opened.
    Please help.
    Thank you!

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and the reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Your post goes aroung the field a lot and I am not really clear on what is working and what is not
    Imported iPhoto Pictures Disappeared
All of the photos disappeared from iPhoto (some are in photo stream)
I cannot open photo stream from iPhoto on my MacBook (I can open it from my iPhone)
now some events don't have any photos when opened (although they show having photos from the events library)
Also, I held down command and alt while launching iPhoto, but no additional dialogue boxes were opened.
Typically this is because you do not hold the Alt & COmmand keys long enough
You appearently have a MacBook (10.6) and a MacBook Pro (10.7.5)
Did you import the photos to the MS or the MBP? You talk about trying to open PS on the MB with 10.6 - PS requires 10.7.5 or newer - Please explain - do your photos show in PS on the MBP?
what does " some events don't have any photos when opened (although they show having photos from the events library)" mean?
Please try to provide a more clear and concise description of the problem

  • IPhoto Pictures corrupt?

Hey there, one day iPhoto is all fine and dandy, the next day all the iPhoto pictures are gone, and i tried to re-open it and put it back into the library, but iPhoto says the files corrupt or something like that. heres the link. http://www.fileupyours.com/files/66183/Picture%201.png

    Dear TD,
I actually experienced the same problem as Kevin did, and I tried to "reconstruct" my library but once I select to the task it closes the box and remains plain old empty library... How exactly do I get the photos back into iPhoto?
Thank you so much for your help...
    Sincerely,
    Shilax
    Kevin
What's happening here is that iPhoto cannot open your
    Library. Try the following:
Hold down the apple and option keys and Launch
iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild the
    Library. Choose all the options.
However, most likely, your pictures are safe in the
iPhoto Library Folder which is found at
Home/Pictures. There you should have three folders
    (if you're using v6).
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded
    from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you
have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command
    - very useful if you don't like the changes you've
    made.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to
show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.

  • Import/Export options from iPhoto Picture Disk?

I want to install several thousand photos onto my MacBook Pro from an iPhoto picture disk I created with another Mac, but I do not want to install them into the iPhoto library -- I will use Aperture instead. The only option I appear to have, however, is to import everything into iPhoto first and then export onto my HD, a very laborious process if I want to maintain the organization I have on the DVDs. Plus, iPhoto is cranky and probably will crash 5 times during the process, if experience is any guide. Does a way exist for me to copy my photos from the DVD into my HD folders without importing into iPhoto?
    Thanks!

That might be better asked in the Aperture forum. Was this disk burned with v6 of iPhoto? If so, then here's how it's laid out:
    There are three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
So, ignore the Data and Modified folders, just drag the rolls from the Originals folder for your Original, unaltered shots.

  • Hundreds of my iPhoto pictures will not be copied and will not show when I double-click on them.  When I do in iPhoto an exclamation surrounded by a triangle appears.  Though I can see the picture in the small tiles below it will not expand.

Hundreds of my iPhoto pictures will not be copied and will not show when I double-click on them.  When I do in iPhoto an exclamation surrounded by a triangle appears.  Though I can see the picture in the small tiles below it will not expand.  I also cannot attach any of these pics into an e-mail or into any other file.  I have already went through all 3 Repair options and when that did not solve it went through a complete Rebuild.  Any Help?!  Any Suggestions on how to fix this?!  I have spent almost 2 days now going through all of the published help.
I have backups going back 6 months - I have not had the real need to check every album before - but - all of my backups also have this same problem.

The triangle with the ! indicates that the connection between the thumbnail and the orginal is missing - this can be caused by many things including database corruption and user action emoving the originals photos on urpose or by accident
If the database is corrupted then rebuilding is the solution - backup and depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your database  --  if the iPhoto rebuild does not cure the problem then download iPhoto Library manager and use its rebuild command which creates a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched
If you have deleted the photos then you need to start over with a new library and import the photos you have not deleted into it
You can select one of the problem photos and use the reveal original in finder commander (file menu) to see if the original is there - if it is a finder window will open showing it

  • How can I use my pictures as screensaver on Apple TV (3 gen)?

I want to use my pictures as screensaver without using cloud ?

you can use Home Sharing in iTunes.
iTunes > File > Home Sharing
    Switch it on and
Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV.
Your Apple TV will pickup the folders when you go to the Screen Saver settings
They also "cache" so screen saver works if your computer is off.
Let me know if you need more details.

  • Can I share my iphoto pictures with AT

Can I share my iphoto pictures with my AT&T Uverse tv?

Yes, this is exactly how I use iPhoto on my system.
You do need to update the permissions on the iPhoto directory after it's moved to the Shared folder. the default permissions will only permit your account to fully access the files, your wife's account will get errors or not see thumbnails correctly when accessing the pictures from iPhoto in her account.
After moving the iPhoto Library into Shared (and with iPhoto closed), Get Info on the iPhoto Library folder and change the Others access to Read+Write. Let it apply to all enclosed folders, also. Then hold down the Option key while starting iPhoto and choose the Shared version of the folder as your Library. Repeat the iPhoto launch w/option key on the other account as well and each user will access the same set of pictures, albums, keywords, etc. Just make sure you don't open iPhoto from both accounts at the same time. Close iPhoto before walking away from the computer or letting the other person logon.
