Rotating a movie in QT pro 10.0
Hi,
I'd like to rotate the orientation of a .mov movie. I've searched this forum as well as Googled for an answer but only found advice using QT 7 which doesn't apply to my situation. I'd appreciate any suggestions as to how to accomplish this.

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded.

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".

I paid for Quicktime Pro but only show Quicktime. I need to rotate a movie.
I have registered successfully with the license code they sent me after I paid for Quicktime Pro. The email from them says that I now have Quicktime Pro, but still I only show regular Quicktime, not Quicktime Pro.

I'd like to be able to rotate a movie but the directions I have don't work for regular Quicktime.
I found directions online that tell me to open Quicktime Pro. Go to "Window". Then to "Show Movie Properties" then to the icons for rotating a movie.
I can get as far as "Show Movie Properties" but after that there is a strange chart and nothing about rotating anything.
How do I get the Quicktime Pro to show up instead of regular Quicktime?

Shouldn't my program say Quicktime Pro? -
I was taking a clip of Old Faithful and due to the height I turned my camera sideways, figuring I could rotate the video once I got it into iMovie.
Well, I can't figurer out how and when I enter "rotate" into iMovie help, it comes up with nothing useful.
I'm running a current update of iMovie 6 HD.

Although, I gather, the free plugins don't work quite as well as QT Pro.
I was very happily surprised that the software which came with my Canon can do this. Canon's ImageBrowser has a utility called MovieEdit Task that can do simple editing, including rotating clips 90 degrees. -

Thanksi don't use this software, but i can suggest you an easy way to rotate your clip...you can do it with quicktime time pro, a really great pro app that is quite cheap...
you can do it with freeware video apps too, i think mpegstreamclip could be able to do this...try to check it.

that when i try to open a website on safari .... it delays ... and takes more than 30 seconds to open completely ...
but when i move the mac pro to another location ... its internet opening speeds up ....
also in one room ... web opening delays .... but on other rooms it is normal

Waiting for your support ... as quick as possible ...WiFi signals get stronger the closer the machine is to the router and the less interference/blocking of the signal like via walls with metal in them or of thick concrete.
Since the signal emanates outwards in a sphere, your supposed to place the wireless router in a central location in the building so it covers all areas.
The power of the router also has a affect, if your router is old or something not that powerful like a Airport Express, it doesn't have the ability to filter out other signals or enough punch to get through walls etc. or cover a large area as effectively.
If you buy/have a powerful router of newer make and have issues where there is metal in the walls or thick concrete, then you can buy something like OpenMesh and by using Ethernet cables from the back of the router, extend the WiFi signal into other rooms and areas past the blockage.

Do you have the install media? If not, you can download Acrobat from here: Download Acrobat products | 9, 8 - Adobe. You'll need your Acrobat serial number (see Find your serial number quickly - Adobe).
Note, as well, that the licensing agreement allows you to activate the software on up to two computers. If you've already activated it on two computers, deactivate on one before installing on the new computer (see Activation & Deactivation Help).

CAN'T figure out how to make/edit movies in QuickTime Pro...
I can't seem to figure out how to creat and edit movies in Quicktime Pro. I would do this in windows movie maker as its sooo simple, but it doesn't save in a format that works on a mac computer (I'm emailing the video to someone who uses a mac!). And, I can't seem to find a program that is as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker...PLEASE help me, I really NEED to get this movie in a format to work on a Mac! I'm at a total loss as to what to do! And I can't seem to find a tutorial, either!
=( KourtneyFirst of all, Quicktime is not really an "editing" program in the traditional sense. If you are expecting to really edit in QT Pro, you will be disappointed. Yes, you can actually import video directly into QT Pro and edit it, but the functions will be limited to roughly selecting chunks of video and deleting them, and you won't have frame-accurate control like other real editing programs. But lets start at the beginning: 1) Your post does not give enough information to anyone for them to help you. Where are the videos coming from that you want to edit? Camcorder? Digital camera that takes MPEG movies? VHS or DVDs? 2) The answer to #1 will be the clue as whether you are plugging a USB device or a Firewire device into the computer. Once this is determined, then instructions will vary as to how you go about editing. 3) I'm not sure if you are using QT Pro on a PC or a Mac. If you have a Mac, why don't you use the built-in video editing program that came with your computer? It's called iMovie? Quicktime can convert some video files into something that is compatible with iMovie, if they're not already. If you are using QT Pro on a PC, then I'm a little unfamilar as if it works exactly the same between between a Mac and PC. Seeing that you come from the PC side of the Universe, I'd bet that you are trying to plug in and use a USB device. On a Mac, QT Pro can record video directly from a camcorder, but it needs to be connected via Firewire. Otherwise for something transferred via USB, you most likely have an MPEG file. QT Pro can open this, but again, the editing will be very rough as QT is not a refined edit program.

and its good but many people are saying macbook pro 2013 with retina display is the best laptop and has many features so do you advice me to move from macbook pro to macbook pro 2013 with retina display?
thankaIt's a very sweet machine, of course. Although the upgrade path is a bit dicey. Just my opinion, but unless you have very demanding graphics needs (in which case you probably should have a desktop system with a huge monitor), I don't see the point of spending all the money. Probably you would get more value if you take your current machine and max out the RAM and get an SSD.
It's hard to advise anyone in such matters via the internet.

Unable to edit movies in QuickTime Pro
I just licensed a copy of QuickTime Pro. However, I find that I am unable edit movies.
The Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete and Trim to Selection menus remain greyed out, even when I specify a selection with the in/out markers. The movies I am trying to work with "MPEG Muxed" format, and were taken with a Sony DSC-N1 camera. Exporting them to other formats does not seem to solve the problem.
My understanding is that I should be able to edit movies with QuickTime Pro. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got QuickTime Pro so I wouldn't need other utilities when doing trivial editing to videos, so I feel like I've probably wasted my money on a license. Why a free utility can handle a common format that QuickTime Pro can't is beyond me.

You said you have converted them to prores LT & are having this issue, or is it with H264 files in your edit?
How did you convert? using media manager, or compressor?
if you still are using the H264 media that would be the issue.
That is not an editing codec. it is a delivery codec.
The thing to have done would have been to convert to prores before you started editing.

If I learn on Logic Pro 9, will it be difficult to move to Logic Pro X?

I am studying Logic Pro for composition of orchestral music - I bought Logic Pro 9 about 2 months ago, as I had no idea Logic Pro X was coming out. I also purchased a couple of books to study it.
I am not complaining about the lack of upgrades, as I know Logic Pro is very cheaply priced; I just cannot afford the upgrade right now as I do not have the money.
I would like to ask you if it makes sense for me to study on Logic Pro 9 for the time being, and if it will be difficult to move to Logic Pro X once I have learnt Logic Pro 9. What was your experiencing moving to Logic Pro X?

I think every experienced user here will disagree withyour above statement... I've had a chance to play around with X for a bit and while there are a few differences there's nothing there to prevent a user of Logic-9 from losing his/her way in Logic X.
The Important things are almost (if not) exactly the same.

Trying to export movie from QuickTime Pro to AVI and getting white screen

I am trying to export a movie from QuickTime Pro to an an AVI file. It goes through the process as if everything has worked, but when I open the finished file, all I get is a white screen with no audio or picture.
I need to save lectures from school from the school website to my computer so that I can watch them when I do not have internet access. QuickTime gives me the option to save the video straight from the web, but as soon as I turn off my AirPort it tells me that I need internet to continue watching the movie..

AVI is just a container ... specifically, which codec are you using when exporting? And why export to AVI?

That usually means that your system doesn't have the codec installed needed to view the video, but your web browser is using a plugin that does. What format are the web videos? Flash?
