Rotating Multiple Images

Greetings, I just purchased Aperture and am currently working through the Apple Pro Training Series book 'Aperture 2'. In one of the lessons they walk you through how to manipulate (rotate) multiple images. No matter what I try I can't seem to rotate more than one image. Multiple are selected, but it only will rotate the last image selected (image with bold yellow box around it - other images have a thin yellow box outlining them). Any thoughts? Is there some simple setting I am missing?
Thanks in advance.

The 'yellow' lines make it sound like you have got "Quick preview" mode enabled (the icon with the square and lines trailing from it - an image and 'speed' lines, I guess...) ?
If it were white lines/boxes, then it would be the "primary only" setting - i.e. it's set, so any adjustments only affect the one with the bold box (the image you selected last). In Aperture 2, you can turn that off and on with the button marked "1".
(edited: to note the yellow/white distinction)

  • Rotating Multiple Images in Fireworks

I have my home page designed in Fireworks MX 2004. I'd like
to set a rotation of images (all same size) into my page. Can I do
    this in Fireworks?
Previously I used a Java script from another source but after
adding swap image behavior to my menu text my rotation script no
longer works. I don't know Java well so I'm assuming the two
scripts are stepping on each other toes somehow.
Thank you for any input you may have,

    Hi Tim,
Unless you create a GIF animation with the images (not
    recommended for
photos) you can't do this in Fireworks.

  • Multiple images won't rotate

I do not rotate my images in camera, I do this inside Aperture in a bulk step by selecting multiple images and using the [ or ] key. For some reason lately I have not been able to select multiple images and do this. The only image that is rotated is the last one that was selected or the active one at that moment. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Sounds like you have the primary only button turned on - turn if off - it is on the right side of the browser window.

  • Pasting settings to multiple images in Flimstrip

Hi - this is probably a basic question but I may have missed the "how to."
When I finish adjusting (in the Develop Module) and I click "copy" and select the items I want to copy, then what I want to do is apply (paste) these settings into a number of images.
What I'm doing is then I highlight ("Crtl+Click") several images in the Filmstrip.  Once these images are highlight (filmstrip images highlighted), I then click "Paste" - but the only image that is changed (settings applied) is the first filmstrip image.
How do I select in the filmstrip the images I want to adjust (apply the copied settings) and have the settings applied to all the selected images?
I'm sure this is obvious and there has got to be a way to apply this "recipe" to all the selected images without having to create a collection or do it one-at-a-time.
This is proably the same issue, but when I want to rotate several images (in the Library module), if I select them in the flimstrip, only the first image rotates when I click the clock-wise or counter-clock-wise arrow.  Same issue?  Can this be done in the filmstrip?
    Thanks

Thanks - one would think selecting multiple images in the filmstrip, you could then paste the settings to those selected.  Guess I had better read about Sync.
Yep, it took me a while to figure out that wouldn't work.
And, what is Auto Sync used for?   Lot to learn.
I'm pretty knew to LR, too, but I think this will automatically apply changes to multiple images in real time. So if, for example, you raise the black slider by 5, it will be raised by 5 in all the images you have sync'd.
So, there really isn't any Grid in the Develop Module - you have to switch from Develop to Library, right?
    Right
I've gotten a lot of use out of Scott Kelby's Lightroom 3 for Digital Photographers book. There's a lot of stuff hidden in LR that you'll never figure out on your own.

  • Applying changes to multiple images . . .

i'm relatively new to macs but i've been using aperture comfortably for the past few months.
having just returned from a long photography trip and upgrading aperture to 1.5.1, i'm finding that i am unable to apply changes to multiple images like i used to, such as: selecting multiple images to rotate or selecting multiple images to apply the "stamp."
when i try to "shift-select" multiple images, the change i'm trying to apply affects only the last image clicked-on in the "shift-select" grouping. does that make sense?
    has anyone else encountered this?

You most likely have the Primary Only option turned on. Turn off that option in the Control Bar.

  • Lost ability to select/edit multiple images

my apologies if this is a simple question. I must have somehow disabled the feature that allowed me to select multiple images (i.e. images 1-10 within a particular project/folder) and edit them all at once. when i select multiple images and attempt to edit/stamp/rotate all at once, only the last selected image (i.e. #10) is changed. is there a feature i somehow disabled that is causing this? i never had problems with this feature prior to a few weeks ago.

    primary only was selected ...
keyboard shortcut is 'S' ... also under Edit -> Primary Only ...
third place is on the bottom control bar ...

  • Multiple Image Storage

    Hi all,
I need to store multiple images into the database. I am using stored procedure for the same.
I am passing image as byte[] and since i have to store multiple images at one go, I am just switching between my Java code and the database procedure for each image.
And in each rotation, the record is committed.
I have a small problem here.
If I have a total of 5 images and if the 4th image was not stored b'coz of some reason; so.. i'll have the other 4 images stored successfully.
I was actually thinking of a way to store all the images or none.
I hope i made my problem clear.
I had posted an issue earlier. Pls refer to this link:
Reg: Stroring multiple images in a single transaction
After some browsing, I found that bytes sent inside an XML might get corrupted. And I need to encode the bytes to character data to send in XML.
But, if i encode this byte[] in my java program, how do I decode this image character data inside the stored procedure?
I surfed for this on the net... but could not get much info.
And I was asked not to use dbms_lob at all.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks n Regards,

To address the question regarding "store all the images or none at all"
that's easy: don't commit in between the loading of the images. Then it will be a single transaction which can be either committed or rolled back.
And I was asked not to use dbms_lob at alllike I said before today: forget about the idea of a database independent application with a single code base.

  • Adding keywords to multiple images stopped working

When I was first using Aperture, I was able to select multiple images and add a keyword in the metadata area, and they keyword would apply to all the images. After a few months, it started to only apply the keyword to ONE of the selected images (whatever was the last one selected). Ever since, I've had to use the lift and stamp tool instead, but that's vastly more of a pain.
A friend who also uses Aperture still is able to select multiple images and have the keyword apply to all, and he has the latest version of Aperture. The feature worked with all his versions of OS X 10.4, and now with Leopard too.
So what gives? Anyone know if there's any way to fix this?

Yes, there's a way to fix this. Press 'S'.
This toggles something called 'Primary Only' which controls whether all selected images are keyworded, rotated etc. or just the image with the thicker white border.
You can also change it via Edit>Primary Only where you will see a checkmark if it's active, and also via the control strip at the bottom of the window, just to the left of the rotate buttons.

P.S. I can recommend downloading the podcasts from http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/aperture/, one of the ones with Joe Schorr specifically goes through Primary Only among other things.

  • Rotating Multiple Thumbnails in Finder

I'm a convert from Windows and looking for a way to rotate multiple thumbnail images in Finder. I have the .JPGs all hilited and have the urge to just right-click and rotate CCW, like I can do in Windows Explorer. Can a MAC user out there help me out. Thanks.

    There are a few options:
    1) you can get a small preview of individual files by using the column view;
    2) right-clicking and choosing 'Slideshow' will make a full-screen slideshow of your selection;
    3) you can use a third party application such as GraphicConverter that provides a browser for graphics files.

  • Does rotating an image several times affect the quality?

I'm using a template for a cd sleeve. One half of it is upside down so to work on the other half I have to rotate the image. I will have to rotate the image a hundred times before the project is finished.
Does this affect the quality? If so, any workarounds for me?
    Thank you.

As the previous poster said - use non-destructive transform methods wherever you can. Apart from that, note, that rotating in multiples of 90 degrees does not change the pixels' color and transparency information, as this always coincides with the imaginary rectangular/ square pixel grid and pixels only get re-arranged. Only rotations at different angles will enforce resampling, meaning that in particular edges will be recalculated to keep them visually smooth. Doing this multiple times will result in softening, as the way Photoshop works, it has no knowledge of previous transforms and will apply the full sampling again in a "dumb" manner. Smart objects avoid that limitation, as they concatenate operations, i.e. a rotation of +60 degrees followed by one -20 degrees will be treated as a single 40 degree rotation. Likewise, CS4's canvas rotation, is merely a secondary rotation applied to the screen buffer, not affecting the image itself.

  • Super Complicated Multiple Images Question

OK. I'm stuck. I'll give you my situation and what I've tried (and what's worked):
    I've got a JPanel size (5700,5700) inside a JscrollPane size (700,500).
On this JPanel, I need to be able to draw a graphic with a click of the mouse button, and rotate the graphic with a right click. Clicking a JButton will "lock" the graphic in place, and then call up the next image for drawing. On top of all this(literally) I have several other graphics to be moved and displayed.
I've got the GUI done, and added the mouseListeners.
In a previous test I've gotten the image to display on click and rotate on right click. I'm stuck on how best to display the other graphics at the same time. Any tips? I haven't found any threads in here that specifically address any of this and it's driving me crazy.
    Thanks in advance.

I am trying to use multiple images in a panel, yes, with an enforced hierarchy. But all the reading I've done suggests you can't put a JLayeredPane inside a JScrollPane and thus I've tried everything but that (aside from a few minimalist efforts).

  • Multiple image fading

    Hello!
I'm a Graphic Designer and recently started using Dreamweaver to design and build websites.
I want to achieve an image effect like this one on the home page.... http://www.hl-brown.co.uk/ with multiple images fading and rotating.

Hi curlytowers! Welcome to the Adobe user-to-user forums.
It looks that that site is using jQuery's fadeOut() function to achieve this effect.

  • How do I stop iWeb outputting multiple image files? It makes my site slow!

I'm a professional web designer (but don't let that put you off) who uses Dreamweaver and also handcodes HTML & CSS websites at work on a PC, but having got a new Mac for home use I thought I'd give iWeb a go for a personal site hosted on .Mac, showcasing my music and film efforts, that I didn't want to have to think about coding.
I've built a short little site using the attractive 'Travel' theme, just 5 or 6 pages so far, and have not yet added any multimedia content. However, it seemed to take ages to upload it when I published it to .Mac. So then I went to view it, and it was soooo sloooow to download each page, even on my 4mb cable connection. I know it's a fairly graphically-rich theme, but still!
I noticed that it was redrawing the navigation menu each time... and upon close inspection of the HTML code using Safari's 'View Source' to my horror I found out that that each page has a seperate '_files' folder that contains multiple versions of files that are also used in other pages - including navigation buttons and background images. I also saw that every element has styling applied to it 'inline' in the code, rather than in a single seperate style-sheet.
To confirm this I published it to a folder on my hard drive and checked it all out. What a mess!
As a WYSIWYG web page editor iWeb is great but it's an undisputable fact that the HTML markup and CSS code it produces is absolutely appaling. What's worse though is that it also renders whole swaithes of text as images and that it does create seperate folders for each pages content including images, CSS code and navigation buttons - so even though the same images and code are used throughout the site for the background and buttons and layout, they are written out as seperate files and have to be reloaded with every page!!!
This means that the .Mac server must be getting hammered and webpages are very slow to download and slow to render in Safari - it's almost like dialup when I'm viewing my iWebsite, and like I said, I've got a 4mb cable connection!
Looking at the code iWeb produces, it is good to see that tables are not used for layout, and that's one thing in its favour. But surely the whole point of providing 'themed' templates for users is that the same content is used across the site and therefore doesn't need to be created multiple times - one of the benefits of using CSS stylesheets. Why doesn't iWeb create a single stylesheet and make efficient use of repeated images instead of creating multiple instances of the same file for each page?
Perhaps there is a setting somewhere I've missed. If so, let me know someone!
It is a great WYSIWYG editor, but behind the scenes it's not efficient, it's not clean and simple and it's certainly not attractive - and I'm surprised at that coming from Apple! I know iWeb is a great tool for beginners and I'm a picky professional, but if I was Joe Public First Time Web Designer I'd be very annoyed by this.
Clean it up and sort it out Mr Jobs!
PS: Also, where does iWeb store the website whilst it's in production? I can't find it anywhere?

Your iWeb Site is stored not on your iDisk, but on a file named Domain.sites in your ~/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ Folder.
If , for whatever reason, you wipe your HD and/or lose this file (Get a new computer, Re-Install your OS, Stolen Laptop, Crashed HD, Etc.) without backing-up your Domain.sites file then you will have to re-build your iWeb sites from scratch again.
Of course you can edit your Published HTML files in a different program such as Dreamweaver or even Text Edit. You just can't edit Published HTML files in iWeb. Not at this time at least.
Use iWebBackup to backup your Domain file to a Blank CD or DVD. Backing up your Domain file to another folder on your computer is not fully backing it up. If your computer gets stolen you still lost the file but if you have your Domain file burned onto a CD you have a backup!
    Download iWebBackup Here
You can use iWebExtender to automatically consolidate your files into one folder and delete multiple images.

  • Can you edit multiple images from a PDF in photoshop?

I scan a lot of old publications with images and drawings. The images are in greyscale, but my scanner produces better results set to color. As such, I have to convert the images to greyscale in Photoshop from Acrobat. I have several PS actions that make this process easier, but I wish there was a way to select multiple images from a page or PDF file and run the actions on them (a batch) instead of one at a time. Is there? Or perhaps another method than what I am doing?

I recommend that you scan first, save as TIFF, do any desired correction, and only then make PDFs. Scanning direct to PDFs is great for simple uncomplicated workflows, but a liability when correction is needed.

  • Is there a way to add multiple images at the same time to Keynote 6.0?

I just brought keynote after searching online about adding multiple images to a presentation all in one go - I couldn't do this on the powerpoint version I was using but there were multiple references on google to being able to do this on keynote. I purchased it and now can't get it to work! Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Do you mean like dragging in multiple images and having one image go on each slide? If so, you just drag the images into the Slide List on the left instead of onto the slide. From this prior post.
