Rotating pdf presentations on iPads

we have 12 iPads to present pdf presentations.  Half of them rotate to landscape; half are in portrain and do not rotate.  All settings in PDF Viewer are identical. The iPads screen lock is turned off and the iPads do rotate.  I want the portrait presentations to rotate to landscape.  any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

oh ok well you can get a device from apple called a dongel (not sure i spelled it right) but anyways it connects to the ipad via the charging slot and the other end connects to a monitor or digital projector or laptop. you can buy one throuhg apple .com

  • PDF-Presentation works with Macs keynote but not with iPad keynote ???

    Using this Converter PDF to Keynote" ( http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~oneill/freesoftware/pdftokeynote.html ) PDF-Presentations works totaly well inside Macs keynote. Transfering with iTunes to the iPad works well, too. But opening such a presentation in iPads keynote results in "Could not import, unknown error".
    Are there any tips or tricks?

    Hi,
    I didn't understand how you fixed the problem.
    Could you please explain step by step how you sorted it?
    Thanks

  • How to transfer iBooks books & PDFs from old iPad to new iPad?

    (Well, it seems my title got truncated; originally it read: How to transfer iBooks books & PDFs from old iPad to new iPad?)
    I've recently gotten an iPad Air to replace my previous iPad 2. I have a bunch of books and PDFs in iBooks on the old iPad, and want to transfer them to the new iPad.
    A search of Apple Support informs me that anything I've purchased from iBooks can be downloaded at any time to any of my devices (works like Amazon's Kindle system, apparently), but nearly all the content I have in iBooks on the iPad I've downloaded from other sources, so it won't be in my iBooks Store account (I might have bought one book there).
    I've also seen several instructions on how to copy all my data from the old iPad to the new via Backup & Restore, but that seems to require restoring the new iPad to factory setup, which would delete everything I have on it now – including a bunch more books I've gotten since I started using the new iPad. And I don't want to copy everything, only the books/PDFs (the new iPad has everything I want, except for the books).
    Since there seems to be no way to transfer files directly from one iPad to the other, it seems it must be done via iTunes on my MacBook Pro (and I want to copy all the books/PDFs to the computer anyway). So I connected the iPad 2 to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.4) and opened iTunes (11.3.1). Then clicked on the iPad's name in the sidebar to the left, and on Books below it. I see a list of the books on the iPad. I check the little boxes by all their names to select them (not sure if that's necessary, but it seems like a good idea), then click on the Sync button at the lower right, to the right of the bar at the bottom of the window with colored bands showing memory usage on the iPad. A message appears saying "The app 'iBooks' was not installed on the iPad '[name]' because the app could not be found."
    But iBooks is already on the iPad; I have it open and see the list of books in it, which matches the list shown in iTunes. The message has a "More Information" button; I click that and it opens an Apple Support article titled "iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open": "Learn what to do if you see one of these issues with an app you downloaded from the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: The app unexpectedly quits; The app stops responding; You can’t open the app." But none of these apply; the iBooks app is on the iPad, and works fine there.
    The article suggests: (1) Restart the App. I've done that, no help. (2) Restart your device. Done that, no help. (3) Update your device software and your apps. The iPad is running iOS 6.1.3, iBooks 3.1.3; not the latest versions, no, but I'd rather not update it to newer, bigger, more power-hungry versions if I don't have to. Is it that iTunes 11 doesn't work with iOS 6? I haven't seen this stated anywhere.
    So instead I click the OK button on the message, but nothing further happens, so far as I can tell: None of the books/PDFs on the iPad (about 380MB) appear in iBooks on the MacBook Pro.
    I click on "Books" in the row of words across the top of the iTunes window, and it shows me the single PDF presently in iBooks on the MacBook Pro. I click the box by "Sync Books", and a message appears: "Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPad and sync with this iTunes library?" Well, no, that's exactly what I DON'T want to do. I don't want to erase the 380MB of books and PDFs on the iPad and replace them with the single PDF now in iBooks on the MacBook Pro. I want to copy the books from the iPad 2 to iTunes, so I can copy them back to the new iPad Air (if, God willing, I can figure out how to do that without erasing the books now on the iPad Air).
    I've been working with Macintosh computers for over 26 years. It's always been a fairly simple process to copy files from one computer to another. I don't want to "sync" all the data (address book, email, God knows what else) on the iPad with the corresponding information on the MacBook Pro – especially if that will erase everything on the iPad (which has information not on the MacBook Pro, e.g. 380MB of books). I just want to copy the books and PDFs in iBooks from the old iPad to the MacBook Pro, then to the new iPad, adding them to the books on the new iPad, so I don't lose anything.
    Can anybody give me a clue?

    Transferring your prepaid cellular data account depends on your carrier. AT&T lets you move it yourself when you go to Cellular Data in Settings and log into your account with your previous AT&T user name and password. For iPads with Sprint service, you can set up an account on the new iPad and contact Sprint Customer Care (888-211-4727 and go through the menus) to deactivate the old plan and get credit for unused service. For Verizon, call the company’s customer service number for mobile broadband support (800-786-8419) and ask to have your account transferred.

  • How to view an Interactive PDF on an iPad?

    My PDF uses three types of buttons: (1) buttons that go to next/previous or a desination page; (2) Buttons that show or hide other buttons – all of these are generated entirely from InDesign and, (3) Layer visibility buttons - which are created in InDesign, but the button Action is set in Acrobat. These buttons require Acrobat layers.
    I have seen recommendations for other PDF viewers – such as GoodReader – but GoodReader does not support layers. Is there a Viewer that does? Like Acrobat, but that works with iPads?!
    Or do I need to export to another format? Or re-create my document in another format? InDesign Folios do not support the buttons I am using; SWF files do not support layers... sigh.
    I don't need to send the PDF to other iPads, only view it. (The Document is an interactive company presentation - my boss goes to a lot of conferences and he wants to be able to present to clients from his iPad.)
    Anyone got any bright ideas?!

    Sadly, Adobe Reader doesn't support playing videos. You'll need to purchase a better PDF reader, notably PDF Expert from Readdle. US $9.99.

  • Is there a way to get a PDF into my iPad keynote?

    Is it possible?

    I don't have an iPad, but it should be no problem. Once you have the PDF in your iPad, you can paste/insert it into your KN presentation. There are probably several ways to get a PDF into your device - download from the net; email it to yourself if it's on a computer; if it's originally your own word processor doc, like Pages, you can export that to a PDF version.

  • How to rotate PDF with the automator?

    Hello everybody!
    I'd like to create a WorkFlow to rotate all the selected PDFs (one page PDF) of 90º.
    In the PDFs section of the Automator there isn't anything like that.
    Somebody can help me how to do it?
    Thks a lot!
    Enrico

    Hello
    You may use something like the following script, which will rotate pdf files on desktop by 90° CW (clock-wise) and save the rotated pdfs in ~/desktop/out directory with name with _RC90 appended; e.g. Given original name = abc.pdf, rotated pdf = abc_RC90.pdf. The ouput directory, if specified, must be present in advance. If ouput directory is not specified, rotated file is save in the same directory as the original resides in. Specify -90 or 270 to rotate 90° CCW (counter-clock-wise).
    #!/bin/bash
    cd ~/desktop || exit
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby -w <<'EOF' - 90 *.pdf out
    #      ARGV = angle pdf [pdf ...] [output_directory]
    #      * angle is measured in clock-wise and must be one of [-270, -180, -90, 90, 180, 270]
    require 'osx/cocoa'
    OSX.require_framework 'PDFKit'
    include OSX
    def usage
         raise ArgumentError, "Usage: #{File.basename($0)} angle pdf [pdf ...] [output_directory]"
    end
    usage unless ARGV.length > 1
    outdir = File.directory?(ARGV.last) ? ARGV.pop : nil
    usage unless ARGV.length > 1
    rota = (ARGV.shift.to_i + 360) % 360
    usage unless [90, 180, 270].include? rota
    ARGV.select { |f| File.file?(f) }.each do |f|
         url = NSURL.fileURLWithPath(f)
         doc = PDFDocument.alloc.initWithURL(url)
         unless doc
              $stderr.puts "Not a pdf file: %s" % [File.expand_path(f)]
              next
         end
         (0 .. (doc.pageCount - 1)).each { |i| doc.pageAtIndex(i).setRotation(rota) }
         bname = File.basename(f).sub(/\.pdf$/i, '')
         odir = outdir ? outdir : File.dirname(f)
         doc.writeToFile("#{odir}/#{bname}_RC#{rota}.pdf")
    end
    EOF
    In order to make this as Automator workflow, use Run Shell Script action as follows.
    shell = /bin/bash
    pass input = as argument
    code = as follows:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby -w <<'EOF' - 90 "$@"
    #      ARGV = angle pdf [pdf ...] [output_directory]
    #      * angle is measured in clock-wise and must be one of [-270, -180, -90, 90, 180, 270]
    require 'osx/cocoa'
    OSX.require_framework 'PDFKit'
    include OSX
    def usage
         raise ArgumentError, "Usage: #{File.basename($0)} angle pdf [pdf ...] [output_directory]"
    end
    usage unless ARGV.length > 1
    outdir = File.directory?(ARGV.last) ? ARGV.pop : nil
    usage unless ARGV.length > 1
    rota = (ARGV.shift.to_i + 360) % 360
    usage unless [90, 180, 270].include? rota
    ARGV.select { |f| File.file?(f) }.each do |f|
         url = NSURL.fileURLWithPath(f)
         doc = PDFDocument.alloc.initWithURL(url)
         unless doc
              $stderr.puts "Not a pdf file: %s" % [File.expand_path(f)]
              next
         end
         (0 .. (doc.pageCount - 1)).each { |i| doc.pageAtIndex(i).setRotation(rota) }
         bname = File.basename(f).sub(/\.pdf$/i, '')
         odir = outdir ? outdir : File.dirname(f)
         doc.writeToFile("#{odir}/#{bname}_RC#{rota}.pdf")
    end
    EOF
    An Automator service will look something like this.
    Tested under 10.6.8.
    Good luck,

  • Problem printing scanned PDF document from iPad to HP Photosmart Plus B209a

    Hi,
    I'd like to report a problem printing a scanned PDF document from iPad via HP ePrint application to my HP Photosmart Plus B209a printer. The document was sent to the printer without any issue. However, the printer only prints out the
     screenshot image in the center of the PDF page, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit in an A4 paper. The rest of the document is simply ignored by the printer. The document with the problem can be downloaded in the link below:
    Download PDF document with the problem
    What could be wrong? Thank you in advance!

    Thanks for the reply.
    I received the document from my teacher, so I don't know what program she used to scan it.
    I tried to print the document directly from my PC which works fine though, so I guess the document is OK.
    My HP printer is an old model which doesn't support eprint or air print, so I used the eprint application on iOS to print the document. I tried both color and black/white which gave me the same result: only the center screenshot image is printed out, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit an A4 paper, the rest of the document is just ignored.
    What do you mean by saving it as a document?

  • I'm trying to open a PDF on my iPad but it says not a valid PDF but it is valid?!

    I'm trying to open a PDF on my iPad but it says not a valid PDF but it is valid?!

    Is that the exact text of the message? I've searched our application messages and I'm fairly sure we don't present that message in our application. Can you please take a screen capture by pushing the home button and the power switch on the iPad. This will place the screen capture in your photo album. Then, you should be able to mail the picture to us at [email protected]
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way I can store presentations on a mac to stream to apple tv and control from an iPad without storing presentation on iPad at any time or connecting to the internet; i.e. just through local wifi network?

    I am looking at setting up a Local Wifi Network using a Mac and Airport Extreme.
    I wish to store presentations on the Mac.
    I wish to teach from the presentations through Apple TVs in my classrooms using IPad to control presentation, annotate etc
    I don't want to have to upload presentation to iPad from Mac as this will be in server room.
    I don't want to access internet so iCloud Drive is out of the question.
    What options do I have?
    Many thanks
    Dave

    You would need to find an app that lets you remotely access the Mac (e.g. Logmein). You would need to be aware of how much the network can handle.

  • Looking for a PDF app for iPad

    Hi,
    I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought of this so I'm a believer that someone has created an app to help me and I can't find it!
    Pretty much, I'm looking for an app that will allow me to edit PDF's on my ipad and then send it (Via WiFi or Bluetooth) to my laptop.
    For example:
    Drawing a graph on my ipad, with detailed information, sending that to my macbook and then adding/inserting it to my PDF file on my laptop
    (Like getting a notification on my mac, loading it, draging it to my pdf, and vola!)
    If there is such a thing can someone help me out (If not feel free to take my idea and makes some money off of it, just let me know that you did!)
    Thanks

    Hey there
    "pdf creator" for iPad works flawlessly for me working with pdf files
    It takes care of all my needs
    I'm not sure about sending via Wifi or Bluetooth but I send them via e- mail all the time
    Possibly it could handle your needs as well
    Just type it into the App Store search field and the first one that comes up is the one I use
    Jump on over there and read up on it before buying and see if it will help you
    Hope this helps
    Regards

  • Looking for help for sharing pdf files with ipad from mac.  Pages only recognizes text.  What app should I use for file sharing pdf documents?

    Looking for advice on how to share pdf files with iPad from Mac.   Pages seems to only recognize text.   What app is recommended for pdf documents?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
    If I understand your question, you want to read pdfs on your iPad, not create or edit.
    Drag pdf files to the iPad icon in Finder while connected to your computer via the USB cable.
    They will show up in the iBooks application
    (If you don't already have iBooks, it's a free download from the App Store.)
    Once installed, there are two buttons at the top left of the Bookshelf.
    One is Books, the other is Collections.
    Tap Collections, and you'll see Books and PDFs.
    Tap PDFs and you're there.

  • Any ideas on how we could get any sort of shop stamp or other identifying mark onto our fillable pdf on an ipad.

    I am looking for any ideas on how we could get any sort of shop stamp or other identifying mark onto our fillable pdf on an ipad.
    The scenario is that when we do a job as opposed to our regular contract work, at a large nationwide retailer, their accounts people want the shop's stamp, as proof of the work being done.
    Currently the 'paper' service report is just stamped. For the regular contract work, whoever signs the service report just uses their finger to sign the report, on the iPad.
    On a PC the shop could just set up an electronic signature as their 'shop stamp', but the iPad is another story.
    I am having a vision of ink stamps all over the iPad screen. LoL
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Unlike the desktop version of Adobe Reader, Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support stamp annotations yet.
    If you'd like, you can submit the Feature Request form.  The Product Management team will take your request into consideration for a future release of Adobe Reader for iOS.
    Thank you for the feedback!
