Rotating Photo on Photo iWeb Template Page

I have selected a photo that I'd like to ROTATE on an iWeb Photo Template page.
Go to the "ruler" in the Inspector.
The Rotate wheel is not operational, nor is the ability to Add a New Value, nor is the "handle" on the photo as the Help menu also suggests will happen.
Suggestions?

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to rotate photos on the Photo Template page. Strange, isn't it? Hopefully this is something else that will be changed in iWeb 2.0. Haha.
Anyhow, you have to have your photos oriented the right direction before bringing them into iWeb. And sometimes when the photo has been rotated inside iPhoto, the orientation property will not "stick" and the photo will be turned the wrong way when brought into iWeb. Try this....drag the photo that you are using from iPhoto to the desktop. Then open it with Preview and then "Save" it or do a "Save As." Then drag it into iWeb.
I don't think you'll have to do this with every photo you want turned...just the pesky ones that don't keep their orientation. It's a bug of sorts with iPhoto and the Media Browser....and it would all be fixed if Apple would just let us rotate the photos in iWeb!
Best of luck!

Does and one know if you can change the navigation menu at the top of the iWeb template pages? I need to make the background a little wider.

It depends on which template you use.
You can also hide the default navigation and build your own which allows more freedom of design and is better for search engine optimization...

  • Customising iWeb template pages

I am new to iLife and iWeb and have been trying to get a blog up and running. I'm trying to find out if there's a way I can preserve any changes I make to an Apple template page? I don't want to have to keep re-tweaking it every time a add a new entry. Can anyone offer advice or point me where to find out how to do this? In grateful anticipation!

Duh! How could it be that simple?! Many thanks for helping - and so quickly!

  • Why do the photos in the Photo iWeb template NOT print??

The subject says it all! I created a page in the photo page and wanted to print off the front page. I got text but none of the photos!
They don't show in print to pdf, or print to preview either.
Any thoughts? Or just one more glitch in the iWeb program?
    Thanks.

  • How do I create a (non-template)  page in iWeb?

I want to add more photos and text than the iWeb template page allows. I'm using the "Road Trip" template.
Can I add a page that would match the Road Trip template?

There are two part question in your post:
    1. Can you have 'blank template'?
Yes, you can get blank templates from 11 Mystics
    2. Can you add more photos to photos page?
Yes and no, but first: how many photos do you want to add?
You can have 99 photos in one iWeb photos group. Beyond 99 photos, you have to do some tricks (simple and/or complex) to have more photos.

  • Can 'SUBSCRIBE' be removed from photo template pages in iWeb??

I am using photo template pages on my website (designed in iWeb 08). My site is an artist portfolio site so the photo template pages work well for dealing with all the art images I am posting.
One problem: there is a subscribe button on my pages which lets people subscribe to my iPhoto library. I cannot figure out how to remove it.
    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks!

Click on the Inspector at the bottom of your photo page, then click on the Photos Inspector (just to the left of RSS).
Next click on the Photos button, then uncheck "Allow visitors to subscribe".
The Subscribe button will disappear from your page.

  • Problem adding photos to a photo template page

I am using iWeb 3.0.4. After selecting a Photo template page I tried to drag an iPhoto event from Media sidebar that has 32 photos in it to the photo place holder on the page. Only 9 of the photos were transferred. Trying to drag any other photos, even a single photo, caused a text box with the name of the photo in it to be placed on the page and the Inspector window to open with the Link tab active.
Does anyone have any ideas on why or what to do?

Your library is damaged and my not be able to be totally recovered, i.e. recover albums, slideshows, etc. along with the photos.
If the original files for your photos are inside the library package (even if iPhoto can't display them) the following should create a new library with all of your photos.
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.  Check it out carefully to see if all of your photos are represented in it.
Your current library will still be available for further fix attempts.

  • I created a book in iBooks Author using the Photo Book template. When I rotate to portrait orientation, the photo or widget disappears and a table of contents appears with only the interactive media showing.

I created a book in iBooks Author using the Photo Book template. When I rotate to portrait orientation, the photo or widget disappears and a table of contents appears with only the interactive media showing.

Thanx for the prompt response, KT. I have indeed seen that thread, only just after I posted the question.
I have spent hours on the phone with what I now know is a call center in Texas on this question.
I think Apple could be a little more "hands on" with iBooks Author users, and it should also be pointed out that landscape photos will not display in portrait mode.
In my case, I used gallery widgets to display vertical photos, since they look better in portrait mode.
But instead of simply rotating, the page disappears and a TOC of interactive media appears. The gallery behaves as expected when tapped. This is not what I expected, but since the gallery works, I can live with it.
Right now I have "tickets" telling me to "fix" this "problem or to disable portrait mode.
I don't want to disable portrait mode.
Will Apple accept the books if I tell them this is not an "error?"

  • Photo template pages

When I selected a photo template page, I got 4 slots for pictures. Does that mean I can only, actually, have 4 photos? I can't seem to grab it to duplicate it nor find a place to simply increase the pictures to 6 or 10 or whatever.
Should I just skip that template and use a blank page and perhaps drop in a photo album from iPhoto? I mean, it seems silly to think that Apple has only a page for 4 photos.

Actually you can drop in up to 99 photos into the photo template area. Or you can drop in a few at a time. The template will automatically expand as you drop more photos in. Just drag your photos over the thumbnail area and you will see the template box highlight in blue and your cursor will turn into a green "+" sign. Then let go of your photos and they will be added to the thumbnails!
And yes, you can also use iPhoto and select up to 99 photos and then click on the iWeb button and select "photo page". That will work, too!

  • No-go on photo-editing and positioning of a hyperlink in IWeb template -

Dear forum. I am currently building a little site on I Web - but have had some difficulties regarding - editing of pictures and the use of Hyperlinks in text.
    1) I have made the specific page on a template called :My photos. When I have pulled pictures from I Photo to the page I cant edit them by using the ADJUST button - it is like the picture editing is locked?
    2) Using the same template (My Photos) I can not make - words or text to a Hyper link ?
The very top-part of this page-template does allow me to edit a picture and or make a Hyperlink - it is when I get beyond the headlines and main picture.
How can I get by these no-go things ?
    Best regards J. Fohrmann

iWeb has no HTML you can edit.
All code is in xml format and stored in theme resources in the iWeb application.
You can open these resouces and edit the xml code in any Plaintext/HTML editor.

  • Can't modify "My Photos" template page

    Hi
There has to be a simple solution to this: the white "My Photos" template page has 3 pictures across in a row. I can't edit them at all, i.e. can't replace the template's images with my own. If you click on one of the 3 default images, all 3 are selected (indicated by a blue frame) but that's it. Can't change a thing. How do I get rid of them so i can place my own?

You get rid of them by dragging other photos onto
them. They are merely place holders to show you
where the photos go. If you have used iPhoto to
arrange the photos you want to use into an album, you
can just drag the album to them. You should see a
blue line that encompasses all the photos show up.
When you do, let go of the album or the photos.
If you use iPhoto, an easy way to do this is to use
the Media Browser (there's a button for it at the
bottom of the iWeb window) to locate the pictures you
    want to use.
I did that and if the picture you want to replace the placeholder picture with is smaller, you can still see the dummy photo under it. How do you eliminate that? Also, when I drag a bunch of photos to the page, when I publish the page and click on the start slideshow button, the only images that play are the dummy images. What's with that?

  • Can I adjust size of the photos on front page of the photo album template?

When I am working on a Photo Album page, how can I make the "front page" photos larger? I am talking about the photos arranged in rows, not the photos that show in the slide show carousel. Is it a set size in the Photo Album template or is it a consequence of how large a photo I set into the page?
Also, how is "large" defined? Is it about inches, or is it about resolution?
    — Lorna in Southern California

I found the large too large and the small too large.
How large do you want them Lorna?
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
Michael, where did you go to check to see that the large was indeed too large and the small too large? What method of adjusting the size are you using?
If you want them really large, why don't you just
plonk the real photo on the page sized as large as
you wish, and you can always link it to its own page
    with an even larger version!!
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
Michael, actually I misstated in my first post. Actually I would not like the photos in the Photo page to be too large, because then no one will be motivated to click onto the See Slideshow button.
My mind is getting so crammed with input and other people's websites that I now cannot even recall with certainty which pictures I wanted larger. 8-( Oh, this is giving me a cramped-in-the-chest feeling. I had best take a break now and finally eat a legitimate meal.

  • Angling photos on a page

I just started playing with iWeb. Say your using the the Travel/Welcome theme. It starts with 2 photos on the template that are slightly angled, which I like. But when I add photos to the page, they are not angled. It's simple to increase or decrease their size, but is there a way to either adjust (or rotate) the new image so that they're at an angle on the page or straighten the template photos? Hope that's clear.

You can also hold down the CMD key while grabbing one of the handles on the image and rotate that way.

  • Can't View Photos on Web Page

    I have a real problem.
I created pages on iWeb 8 for clients to view images and some of the people can't see anything other than the page itself without photos. So far 2 out of 4 people are having this problem.
Please help if anyone has a clue as to what is happening.
    Thank you

It might have something to do with the fact that there is so much other stuff on this photo template page. I'm wondering if some of the content impinges somehow on the functionality of the template. I guess your pluto and nebula images didn't get uploaded for some reason. The slideshow is missing the thumbnail photos as well.

  • Can't enlarge photos on web page by double-clicking

Pleaase go to the following page on my web site:
    http://web.mac.com/htopoff/iWeb/Site/SpecialEvents.html
Double-Click on the photo of Pluto to enlarge it, and you will see instead, a photo of a baby. That baby photo was the default photo inside the frame when I first created the page. When I dragged my Pluto photo (from iPhoto) onto the frame, it replaced the baby picture. But when I publish the page and someone double-clicks to enlarge the photo, the default baby photo reappears. The same thing happens with my other photo of a nebula. This is not a problem if I insert photos into pages that do not have default photo frames. Does any one know why this happens?
