Rotation of images when transfered into Elements10.

Transferring a slide show from Photoshop Elements 10 into Elements 10 some of the images are rotated 90 degrees and there do'es not seem to be a way of correcting this in edit. The same situation happened on the previous job and I had to resort to deleting the offending images.I am using Windows 8.1
on a laptop. Can anyone help me.
Many thanks.

If this is only happening to a few of the images on import it is most likely something related to your camera. If ALL of the Imported images exhibit the issue then there are two things in LR that could cause this to happen:
1) You are applying a Develop preset on Import that has  Lens Corrections> Manual> Rotate tool setting other than '0.'
2) Your LR 'Default Develop Settings' has a Crop Angle tool or Lens Corrections> Manual> Rotate tool setting other than '0.'
To check this import one of the images from CF card that shows the rotation. Examine the Crop Angle tool and Lens Corrections> Manual> Rotate tool settings to determine which one is being applied. From inside the Develop module with the imported image still rotated hit the master 'Reset' button at the bottom of the right-hand Develop panel. This applies your LR 'Default Develop Settings.'
a) If the image is still rotated you may have inadvertently updated your LR 'Default Develop Settings' in the past with the image rotated. To correct this simply hit the master 'Reset' button, reset both the Crop Angle tool and Manual Rotate tools to '0,' go to toolbar Develop> Set Default settings, and select 'Update to Current Settings.'
b) If the image is not rotated you are probably applying a Develop preset that was inadvertently created with the image rotated. You will need to recreate this preset making sure Lens Corrections> 'Transform' is unchecked. This is the only Develop preset setting that will rotate the image as in your example.
If neither a or b fixes the issue you can try resetting your LR Preferences file:

  • Partial rotation of images when importing...

I'm wondering how to stop Lightroom from "squaring up" my images when I import them.  Attached is a screen shot to illustrate.
I also can't find any consistentency, if I import the same image three times it will be as above twice but not on the third time!
I'm wondering if this is a metadata thing?
BTW camera is a Nikon D600.
    With thanks in advance,

  • Pixelated images when dropped into PSE

Images that look great on my desktop become pixelated when I put them into PSE. This has never happened before and I am not sure what the problem is... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Try viewing your images at a viewing % (percentage) of 100% (actual pixels), 50% or 25%.
Other viewing %'s will make images look pixelated.

  • "Wobbly"/un-interlaced images when transferring Motion file to FCP

I'm at wit's end here. I did a short 10 second intro for a press reel in Motion that is pretty basic and looks good in Motion (it's just images from the show flying across the screen, with a cloud emitter as background). The problem is that when I import it into Final Cut Pro, the images get all jittery and wobbly. It looks as if they are going in and out of different interlacing stages, which makes no sense.
The images were taken from the theater's website, and I have have tried them both in JPG and PSD formats. They are all being scaled down from the original size a touch after I import them into Motion (would that be the problem? Didn't think to try that...). As I said, they look fine and clear in Motion, but when I export into a Quicktime movie or render it and play it back in Final Cut Pro, they get all jaggedy/wobbly (for lack of a better technical term). Stills exported from the Motion file look fantastic in Photoshop (and in Final Cut Pro when I use them as background) but a paused image in Final Cut Pro looks very jagged.
I've tried everything I can think of, and even upped all the render settings in the project, to no avail. Any ideas/suggestions?

I have tried exporting from Motion using the Animation settings, per the suggestion of other threads, which made it look really good when I opened it in Quicktime, but it still is jerky and the resolution is dreadful in Final Cut Pro, even when viewed through a Firewire connected monitor (the settings I have in Final Cut Pro are the DV NTSC 48 khz basic settings...720X480, pixel aspect NTSC-CCIR 601, Field Lower (even)[I tried 'none' for fun and no change], 29.97, compressor: DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, quality 100%. I've played with the video processing settings, using Motion FIltering as 'best' and rendering in RGB, to no avail).
I have tested it with photos that are 300dpi instead of 72dpi, and while that seems to have made a slight difference, the pictures still move across the screen in a jagged/wobbly format (the final picture looks great when it reaches the endpoint and just sits there)
As for the motion settings, as I said, I have tried exporting it using the Animation setting (which made it look great in Quicktime) and using Field to "none" and nothing has changed once I import it and render it in FCP.
It's a simple 10 second file created in DV/NTSC. Very few bells and whistles.

  • Loss of Color in my images when placed into IDD.

I am a photographer working on a book involving stained glass, the accurate color reproduction of my images is super important. When I place my images inside the IDD file, there is an immediate loss of color information. It looks like what one gets when jpgs are compressed to much.
If import and sRGB file into IDD CC, it losses a lot of info and is unacceptable, however when I import an Profoto RBG file into IDD it looks close, but not quite there. See the attached file.
Tiffs or uncompressed JPG's, it doesn't make a difference. The color spaces are all set to profoto RGB to get it close, but I would like the images to look as they do in Photoshop.
The attached file is a side by side of the image displayed in PS on the left, the imbedded file in IDD on the right. They are close, but you will notice a loss of color information, less saturation, and the backgrounds are a little different.
How can I get IDD to display the images as PS does?
    Thank you.
    Tom

It really seems like a profile issue
What profile is listed in the Links panel when you select the image. I can replicate your screen capture by placing the image with proPhoto embedded and then duplicating it and overridding the profile to AdobeRGB:
Links showing the left image with its original proPhotoRGB profile
Links showing the right image with profile set to AdobeRGB via Object>Image Color Settings

  • Need Help - Text Created in Illustrator Blurry when Transfered into PS

    Hello,
I've been working on items in Illustrator, and noticed a HUGE change when I transfer them into Photoshop.  What I am doing is creating images (and text) in Illustrator.
Then I select, Control + C to copy, then I paste into my 300dpi document in Photoshop to add textures, etc.  Once they are brought in... the text is pixelated and not clear like it is in Illustrator.
What am I doing wrong?  Or how do I fix this?
Left (is the Photoshop Image) AFTER Transfer ------ Right (Original Image in Illustrator)

I opened your CC file in CS6, and it looked rastered. I opened the smart object, copied and pasted a new smart object and now this looks good now. (I had to substitute Arno Pro Bold since I did not have your font). This may be a CC issue, so if anyone with CC can help out, try downloading the file.
Check your clipboard settings against mine. Try from Illsutrator saving as a .eps and placing taht .eps as a smart object.

  • How do I rotate an image when working in pages/flyers?

I'm making a flyer, and am using a template (garage sale). I have put an image into a text box, and would like it angle it, or rotate it just a bit. How can i do this? I am not trying to flip the image. (There is a bike for sale flyer that has the image rotated just how i'd like it. I would have used that template- except for I do not want the rip-off contact info included in the bike for sale template at the bottom of the flyer.) Any help is appreciated!

drag over the tags > Menu > Arrange > Unlock > Delete
Only the dotted lines between were actually locked. Not hard.
Pages has very logical and well laid out Menus and Inspectors.
Spend a little time looking around. And download and read the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu.

  • No rotation of images when page is uploaded

    Hi,
I have made an adjustment to the swap image code in Dreamweaver CS4, and this works just fine in my preview mode locally switching between my 3 images. When uploaded however this doesnt work and the page just show the alternative text "Banner1"!?!?
    My page is here:
    http://www.competenciagroup.com/ColombiaTravel/index.html
Anybody have a clue what the problem is?
    Best regards,
    Ivan

The path to the images shows as:
    http://www.competenciagroup.com/images/banner1.JPG
however the image is not found - error page.
The current path means that the images are in a folder named images in the root of the site... however, the images are not being found.
Either they have not been uploaded, or the path is incorrect, both in the html and within the script section.
    Check the path.

  • Blurry Images When Transferring to InDesign

    Hi,
I am attempting to transfer some images from PS to ID. Each time I do, I notice the images become blurred. No matter how big I make the image in PS, they always transfer pixelated. I try different formats, JPEGs, PSD, PNGs, all seem to do the same thing. Any ideas why?

Right click the image in Indesign, and choose Display Performance > High Quality Display. You can set this globally in Preferences.
Be aware that Indesign will only display a preview, and never the full image. And BTW, it is best to use the Place command to insert images in ID, copy & paste is not recommended.

  • Images rotate and resize when relinking after collect for output

I just started using CS5 and have run into an issue that is very disturbing to me. When I relink my files from the collected folder that I send to printer, images that have been rotated in Indesign rotate to their actual size and rotation. This is not a good thing! We should not have to rotate all of our images outside of indesign.. Please Help!!!

OK, we were cross posting, and I've now looked at your file.
One key piece of information you didn't tell us before is that the file was created in CS3 and converted. There are a lot of reports of strange behavior with legacy files. This one seems to be somewhat corrupt at this point. I don't know how much of that was introduced form the conversion, and how much from the previous recycling.
The best approach when converting a CS3 file is often to export as .inx from CS3 and open that in CS5. The other thing that helps is to open the old file iin CS5, then immediately export to .idml, then open that and save as a new .indd and work with that. Since I don't have the original CS3 version I don't know how that behaved or if .inx will help, but exporting this one to .idml seems to clear up problems with all the photos except the one at the top of page 4 which rotates 180 degrees when relinked.
For best results you should probably rebuild this file from scratch in CS5, then save as a template. Starting each new editon from a template is more reliable than resaving an old issue and removing unwanted content. Although ID is more stable than most programs when you do this, creeping corruption is always a problem with long-term resaving of the same document and you often don't see it until you are hard up on deadline and your file goes south.

  • Im trying to make a simple 360 rotation for a 3d logo in CC 2014 but when i tried to create the 1st key frame the image when out axis

im trying to make a simple 360 rotation for a 3d logo in CC 2014 but when i tried to create the 1st key frame the image when out axis

I find that if you have multiple 3d object  they must be merged into a single 3d layer their positions reset to align to the same axises then sized and positioned along them. The layer should then be able to be animated well around an axis like the y axis. Here a Sphere, Cylinder and ring. http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/McAssey-CC.mp4

  • Why do I get two images when importing from i-photo into aperture

    Guys
I am a new convert to Mac's and am a keen amateur photographer ,I have transfered my photo library from my old pc into i-photo initially which worked fine and for my photo editing package I have loaded up aperture 3.When I transfer RAW photos from I-photo library into Aperture I end up with two raw images of the same photo one is called 'i-photo original raw' and the other ' i-photo edited raw ' I think I am probably missing a trick somewhere but am worried I will rapidly fill up file space with all these raw images.

When you import a Raw to iPhoto it automatically makes a jpeg Preview of the shot. Why? Because you can't do anything with Raw - can't print it, share it online, use it in other apps etc. So to allow you to use the file immediately the Preview is available. That's the second file you're getting.
You're not trying to use iPhoto and Aperture together are you? It's a waste of time and a cause of some frustration. Aperture is a complete replacement for iphoto, and you're really better off picking one horse to ride and forget about the other. Like iphoto, Aperture is a Photo Manager and post processor - but rather more powerful. Both apps are database driven. Aperture is not an "editing package".
If you do opt to stay with iPhoto then use an editor like Photoshop, Elements, Acorn, Pixelmator etc as your editng package.

  • Iphone 4s Photos not rotating correctly when transferred to computer.

When transfering a photo or video from an iphone to a computer the pictures and videos are all updside down.  I have an iphone 4s and was wondering if this is a bug or if there is a way to fix this?  thanks
    Additional note - i use a windows 7 pc

I am having the exact same problem. I am transferring photos via icloud to my windows 7 PC, some pictures I can rotate and others I can't. I get an error about file properties, even though the file properties are the same as the photos I can rotate. This is definitely some kind of bug.
