Rough color gradient transitions using 24-bit color

I just started playing around with gradient background shading in GNOME and noticed that almost any color combination has very rough, obvious transitions between shades. This is not the case when using this hardware on Windows. I'm using 24-bit color depth with an LCD flat panel. Has anyone else noticed this (i.e. could it be that GNOME uses a large step between shades when computing the colors for the gradient) or could it be config or otherwise my fault?

It seems that 24 is not supported anymore and that we need a rdp version 6 client ( instead
of 5.2 ) to upgrade to 32 bit.
We have the same problem that we need 24 bit for a medical imaging application, and we
will stick to windows server 2003 until a new uttsc version is released.

This is the error msg I get when trying to start windows media player:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I have not changed anything, it looks like my computer tried to do a quicktime update however when I when to most recent updates I did not see that wmp had been updated.. I use 64 bit on my computer, but i believe I was told that I can switch between 32
and 64 bit. How do I fix this problem as I cannot use wmp for anything right now? Thanks.

Firstly, if the issue did not occur before, please try to use the system restore to return to the point which the problem did not appear.
You may run Windows Media Player settings troubleshooter and then test.
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter:

If the issue persists, reinstall Windows Media Center via Turn Windows features on or off
a. Open Control Panel/Programs and Features.
b. Click "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
c. Expand "Media Features", uncheck "Windows Media Player". Click "Yes" to continue, and click OK to quit. Then Restart.
Sometimes, this error message appears because a installation file is corrupted. You can re-download or re-copy the setup file (Wmplayer.exe) for a test.
If the issue persists, I would like to suggest you use Event Viewer to check the related logs.

DAQ vi to perform digital write and read measurements using 32 bits binary data saved in a file
Two main
sections:
1)
Perform
write and read operations to and fro different spread sheet files, such that
each file have a single row of 32bits different binary data (analogous to 1D
array) where the left most bit is the MSB. I don’t want to manually enter the
32 bits binary data, I want the data written or read just by opening a file
name saves with the intended data.
      2)
And
by using test patterns implemented using the digital pattern generator or build digital data functions or otherwise, I need to
ensure that the
            binary data written to a spreadsheet file or any supported file type
then through the NI-USB 6509 is same as the data read.
I’m aware I can’t use the simulated
device to read data written to any port but if the write part of the vi works I
‘m sure the read part will work on the physical device which I’ll buy later.
My Plan
of action
I’ve
created a basic write/read file task and a write/read DAQ task for NI USB 6509
and both combine in a while loop to form a progress VI which I’m confuse of how
to proceed with the implementation.
My
greatest problem is to link both together with the correct functions or operators
such that there are no syntax/execution errors and thus achieve my intended
result.
This
project is one of my many assignments for my master thesis, so please i’ll
appreciate every help as I’m not really efficient with LabVIEW programming but
I prefer it because is fun and interesting if I get to know it.
Currently I’m
practicing with LabVIEW 8.6/NI DAQmx 8.8 Demo versions and NI USB 6509
simulated device.

What does your file look like? The DAQmx write is expecting a single U32 value, not an array of I64.

Build using 32-bit Sun JDK in dev windows OS and deploy in 32-bit RHEL

Is there any potential problems associated with building/compiling my Java classes for my EE (Seam) app into an EAR and deploying on 32-bit Windows OS JBoss AS dev box using 32-bit Windows JDK 1.5 and then deploying the same EAR into 32-bit RHEL OS JBoss AS? The dev envmt is not clustered and the UAT RHEL envmt is a 2 node horizontal cluster without state replication (only mod_jk load balancing and failover).
Perhaps the entity (and other) classes that implement java.io.Serializable will have issues? thx.

Sunpkcs11 in applet force browser to use 32 bit jre

I am using sunpkcs11 in my applet for reading smartcard,sunpkcs11.jar is only available in 32 bit jvm , so if a borwser has latest jdk and it has 64 bit version then my applet will fail , please advice are there any parameters in applet which will force borwser to download 32 bit version jre for running my applet?

The problem is, the end-user will have both 32-bit and 64-bit JREs. They need 32-bit JRE for other applications and our application has to use 64-bit JRE. The target of desktop shortcut (created during installation of application) points to “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe”. If this target is changed to “C:\Windows\System32\javaws.exe”, the application use 64-JRE . The target can be manually changed by right click desktop shortcut icon-> Properties->select Shortcut tab and change the target.
Is there any way to change this target of desktop shortcut programmatically while installing the application?

Nope - you need the 32bit Java to go with the 32bit Firefox if you want Java to run

Using 32-bit Plug-ins with jBridgeM and Metaplugin -- crash?

Hi all,
I just switched from MainStage 2 to 3.1.1 because 2 kept crashing.
Since I use a couple of 32-bit plug-ins (VB3 and Dune), I had to get jBridgeM and Metaplugin.
Now I can crash MainStage in no time at all.
Does anyone have (positive) experience with using 32-bit plug-ins (or VSTs) with "wrappers" in MainStage 3?
Are people complaining LOUDLY to Apple about removal of the support for 32-bit components (and VSTs in the first place) in their "professional" music apps.

To add to the above note, the tools I found are:
     jBridgeM - wraps 32-bit VSTs for 64-bit hosts
     VSTAU Manager - wraps VSTs as AUs
     Metaplugin - lets you plug VSTs into an AU host
Unfortunately, the workflow doesn't produce working plug-ins, and there's no 32-to-64-bit wrapper for AUs.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Are the other wrappers (e.g., FXpansion's) any more reliable?

I have noticed that when I open a project that uses Komplete 7 Elements, a 32-bit bridge utility loads and an error message indicating that the file could not be opened pops up. I have the same problem. It all started yesterday when I was installing the cd drivers in my new computer. I have searched numerous forums and some people had to return the product. Please admins help on this issue as I understand it is very serious.

Many plugin vendors haven't updated their plugins to work with x64, or you have to download a special x64 version (Flash and Java for example). Which plugins is it that you are having problems with?

I am sorry, but this is just wrong. The default option is "using available media", as it should, no matter how you apply the transition. Like James said, you only get the "overlap" option if there is no available media to work with.
By the way, this has been this way for quite some time already (I think since 10.0.1, but I can't be sure).
