Rough percentage increase of encoding times of 1080p versus 720p..?

Does this also apply to downconverting from 1080p to 720p or is that a bit less than a 1080p to 1080p conversion?
My main question is.... what's the rough time percentage difference of 1080p to 1080p versus 720p to 720p in terms of encoding time?
Assuming the same settings.

About the same percentage as a lap on the Hockenheim Ring with a Formula 1 and a GP2 car. So, plus or minus 200%. Choose what you like.
BTW, what do you think about the American politics, and if yes, why not?

  • Will encode in bundle increase the encoding time ?

    Hi there,
I have this project which is 18 minutes long and encode in Apple 1080p 1920 x 1080 25fps, computer mp4 file.
Since I have this phobia of having Error -50 pops up at me, I decided to encode them in 8 parts and re-essemble the 8 parts and encode the 8 parts into 1 file.
    QUESTION 1:
Why does 10.0.6 took so long to encode ? about 2.5 hours.
A similar 18 minutes file only took me under an hour to encode (ie encode at firts go without encoding in parts) to encode in 10.0.4.
But, in 10.0.6, even with already one round of encoding into 8 parts, why is it taking such a long time ?
    QUESTION 2:
Another question is if I do a bundle encode to include the same Apple 1080p plus vimeo plus facebook, will the encoding time remains at 2.5 hours or will it increase due to more destinations ?
    Thanks

I don't understand this – splitting it into 8 parts, etc. If you're getting an Error-50, you  may have problematic media. What are your original clips?
Q1) Unless you have an extremely complex project with loads of composited clips, effects and graphics, it's a pretty long export time.  Maybe it has something to do with the eight parts?
Q2)  To make different versions requires more time.

  • Media encoder time remaining stops decreasing and processor drops to zero. Time elapsed keeps going up! File won't complete!

    Please help anyone who can.
Firstly I know I have very little RAM on my system, only 4GB but I've been rendering the same kinds of files for weeks with no problems until the last few days.
They biggest issues is as follows:
My timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014 has 1080p 50mbps MXF footage from a Sony PMW 200 and some similar footage replaced with an After Effects comp for green screen keying.
The clip, approx 2min, starts with a linked comp from after effects, then cuts to the mxf footage and back to a linked comp at the end.
I am exporting via media encoder to h264 1080p. The file rendered fine for about 40min with the processor at 50% approx. The processor then shot up to 99% for 10 mins and the render progress bar
went up to almost 90% complete.
Then the progress bar stopped, the processor dropped to 0%, time remaining is steadily climbing and so is time elapsed. I've tried pausing and un pausing the render que and nothing else is running in background.
I need these files rendered tonight!! I've tried this a few times and this problem keeps occurring sometimes with the remaining time shooting up to 74 hours!!
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?!
    Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
    Dell Precision workstation 690
    Intel xeon X5365 3ghz (x2)
    4 GB RAM

Sounds exactly like what is happening to me.  This is frustrating because it was a 30 hour encoding process and the place where it is stuck is right at the very end of the sequence on the 2nd pass, although there is still about 12% of the progress bar remaining.  I guess that this is where it takes all its work and puts the separate files into the single video file. I really don't want to go through this again. The final video file is showing up though and is shown having the size that I am expecting it to be.
Any workarounds to somehow get this unstuck?  I am hesitant to just try and open the file. I am going to try a couple of things and if I am successful at getting this to finish without restarting then I will be sure to post it here.
Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I looked at my system Activity Monitor, and there is a CPU process highlighted in red, it states:
         Adobe QT32 Server (not responding)
    Thirty minutes later...
I was incorrect above as to the actual problem.  I paused the queue encoding that was stuck, then opened up the project again in Premiere Pro only to discover that there was an offline still image which I stupidly had renamed during the day. So I renamed the file back to its original name, reconnected the picture, saved the PP project. Then I started the encoding back up and still no luck.
So I paused the encoding again, went back into the PP project and rendered just the area under question, saved it, and exported it into the queue. Then just to be safe I went to the paused item in AME, and duplicated it adding another version into the queue.
Then I unpaused the encoding and ... SUCCESS!!  Not sure which of the final steps did the trick, but I am guessing that it was the rendering of the part of the sequence that it was stuck on.  Hope this helps someone.

  • Video Encoding Time

My original video source is 1280x688, 2600 kbps bit rate and I wanted to convert it to Ipad maximum 1024x768 resolution. I used WinX HD Video Converter which has options to use ipad output.. It took 24 minutes just to convert 5 mins of the 90 minutes source... meaning, it would take over 7 hours just to convert a video source to ipad maximum resolution (lowering it would produce low quality video and you got an ipad to avail of its increased resolution). My output setting is 1000 kbps, video frame rate 29.97 and resolution 1024x768. Audio output is 128kbps, 44100 Hz. My computer is Core 2 duo 1.8 Ghz. How about you. What kind of computer do you use and how long is the encoding time? What settings do you use and most important.. what is the maximum video setting possible in the Ipad that can play it nicely or optimumly?

    I have a turbo264hd, use hadbrake, videomonkey.
If it's hi def, I go with the turbohd.
    Try setting to 960x540.
Good middle ground for high def stuff. You get no benefit on a 10" screen watching high def over a lower resolution with decent bit rate.

  • Unusual encoding times?

    hey kids,
I recently had to take 5.5 hours of DV NTSC footage and transfer it to DVD for a client. I thought that I could break it up into 2 DVD's at 2.75 hours each but the final mpeg2 files were too large for 1 DVD (6.7 Gigs). I had to divide up the clips again to fit 1.25 hours on each DVD (roughly). Which was fine for the client but the encoding ended up taking 5.5 hours each 1.25 hour clip. I'm on an old dual 1.8 G5 with 2.5 gigs of ram. I also encoded the media all on the same drive. These encoding times seem really long and I didn't expect them and neither did my client. Is this really normal?
Let me know if you need more info.
    Thanks

Encoding on Macs is slow. Depending on settings used for encoding it can be really slow. Putting media on drives other than the system drive helps speed things along (and target for the encoded files on another drive can also help.)
5.5 Hours for 1.25 does not sound that far off the mark. Have not done recent speed tests (usually I set things up to encode overnight, just part of the workflow for me now when using the Mac to encode) but when I use bitVice the first pass is about 4-6 times realtime the first time through and from .2-.3 Realtime the second time through depending on the footage (Dual Processor G5 2 ghz). My MacBook Pro seems a bit quicker, but have not really timed in.
As an aside (and for future reference) I also run Paralells on the MacBook Pro and use CinemaCraft (Light Version, $50 or so) and get between 1.5-2x real time speed on each pass.
As to why Macs are so slow, got me. If PCs can get encoding going that quick on software, figured the Macs could also. Perhaps someone else knows some more of the details and/or perhaps the new Intel Chips will open up speed more.

  • Custom Calculation Script for building in a percentage increase

    Hello all,
Looking for a custom calculation script that will apply a percentage increase to a default value when the value of another cell goes above certain numbers. Crude example below.
Y is the cell that the script will be applied to.
    if value of cell X > 10 then value of cell Y = default value * .10 ..... for 10%
    if value of cell X > 20 then value of cell Y = default value * .20...... for 20%
    if value of cell X > 30 then value of cell Y = default value * .30....... for 30%
Pleaes forgive me. I know my example above is not in true Java form because I really do not know Java that well. Thanks for any help that you all may provide!

I've inserted the picture above to help. This is a sizing form for pants for a fire department that will be filled out at the department by the firefighter. The manufacturer that makes the pants passes along a 10% upcharge for anyone with a waist 44-50, a 20% upcharge for anyone with a waist 52-54, and a 30% upcharge for anyone with a waist 56-58. The $42.95 in the "Price" cell is the default price for anyone with a waist that does not meet up-charging penalties (Less than a 44 waist). What I am trying to do is if the firefighter plugs in let's say a waist of 50" the "price' cell will update to show an increase of 10%. ($47.24). If he plugs in a waist of 52" the "price" cell will update to show an increase of 20% ($51.54). If he plugs in a waist of 56" the "price" cell will update to show an increase of 30% ($55.83). I hope that makes sense. I know it can be frustrating helping someone that may not know all the ins and outs like a lot of you do so I greatly appreciate your patience and your help!

  • How to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine not in IE

    Hi Experts,
It is a SOAP to Proxy Synchronous interface. SOAP system is sending the request to PI, PI sending the same request to ECC system, After execution of some logic response back to PI in 7 minutes. In ABAP Stack(sxmb_moni) processing the response message also successfully with success flag after completion of these 7 minutes. But exactly 5 minutes later getting the error at Java Stack RWB- in communication channel monitoring i.e
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessageExpiredException: Message bd2bf8d0-b2c2-11e0-c383-001cc4fb5cb7(OUTBOUND) expired.  We have set the "runtime-HTTP_TIMEOUT" parameter as 3600. thats why in Integration engine it is processing successfully.
kindly suggest me how to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine. Exactly after 5 mins getting the above error in rwb, but in Integration Engine getting successful flag after 7 mins until then it is waiting for response with  status flag Log version.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Report RPTARQPOST keeps increasing in the time it takes to run

    Hi
Since we have implemented Leave Requestes using ESS/MSS this report has increased from taking 300 seconds to run to taking 1000 seconds currently. I need advices as to what can be causing this report to increase its running time?
Any advice will be appreciated. System : ECC6 SP Stack 19
    Regards
    Duvan

    read the note 1460527
check teh size of PTREQ_HEADER and ensure its not getting large
The status ERROR is assigned to a request if it cannot be posted in a
run of the report RPTARQPOST. There are three main reasons for this:
1: The personnel number is locked.
    2: There is a collision.
    3: The quota is insufficient.
The first reason does not constitute a problem because the request is
posted in the next run in this case.
The two other reasons must be resolved by an administrator. However,
these situations can only occur if an absence is entered using a
different procedure after the creation of the request.
If these requests in the status ERROR or the collision reason are not
removed, the report RPTARQPOST tries to post these requests in each run,
but this is unsuccessful. The performance deteriorates as a result.
You can use two indicators in the report RPTARPOST to solve this
    problem:
The "Post with Infotype Match" option ensures that leave requests that
have already been created as absences are automatically marked as
posted. This is useful if absences are sometimes manually entered in
parallel in spite of the automatic posting. In this case, the system
does not recognize the collision and posts the request.
The "Ignore for Posting" option ensures that all ERROR requests are
ignored. You can use this workaround at the start, but all ERROR
requests are retained, even the requests from point 1 that would be
    normally posted otherwise.
                                                                     Page 2
For a final solution, an analysis as to why so many ERROR requests are
created in the system must be performed because, usually, only a few
ERROR requests should be created as a result of the manual entry of
    absences.

  • Canon AVCHD 30p vs. 60i, encoding times?

I just picked up a new Canon HF-M41 video camera and am presented with the dilema of shooting in either 60i or 30p AVCHD. On this camera, the 30p is 'recorded' at 60i but saved as 30p.
I am literally stuck on the frame rate selection screen of the camera, not certain which frame rate I should go with.
I do most of my publishing to YouTube and to DVD. It seems like 30p would be a better format for me to work with natively on the camera, but I'm not sure how Premiere handles 30p from Canon. Since the video has been shot 60i and then wrapped as 30p, has anyone had enough experience with this to tell me if Premiere does a good job of handling this kind of video?
Alternatively, if I stick with 60i that will allow me to burn blu-ray video in the future. I definitely like that idea. But, if I take 60i video into premier, edit it, then encode it as 29.97 progressive for YouTube what kind of extra encoding time would I be looking at? Twice as long as it would take to encode 30p from the camera? What does THIS video look like? Would it look better or about the same as having done the same process with PF30 shot on the camera itself.
I'm sure many of you have already figured out the best frame rate (60i or PF30) on Canon camcorders when it comes to working in Premiere. If you have any advice please let me know.

I don't like the idea of locking myself out of future Blu-ray authoring (or needing a conversion to make it work).  If it were me, I'd stick to shooting HD at Blu-ray legal specs.  At 1080, that means 24p or 30i only.

  • Increasing the decay time of the exs24

is there a way i can increase the decay time past 10000 ms so that I can hold my notes longer, this is really frustrating, i know there must be a simple workaround. theres no way they would make a sample with such a short max decay(i hope).
    thanks for the help.

I just realized you're talking about decay, not release times. If you simply want the sound to continue while you hold the key down make sure the sustain on the envelope is set all the way up. With this envelope setting, decay does not matter, release can do what you want it to do, and your samples will play at full volume for their entire duration or until you release the key. Looped or not.
Don't know about your harp samples; if they're the Apple ones they shouldn't do that, but if they're third party the EXS might be playing samples unlooped that were meant to be looped. With converted samples you often have to tweak the programming which typically includes filters, envelopes, and loops.
Garage band sounds have envelopes preset to the way they assume users will want to hear them. EXS gives you options, including the choice to do stuff you don't like.
ADSR envelope generator is common to all kinds of synths and samplers made by everybody today and since the seventies, and is well worth learning if you haven't already.
