Round trip,[edit in ........]

Hi , I use Photoshop cs5 and Lightroom 3.2 and I have a problem with "edit in Photoshop CS5" how do SAVE in Photoshop does not see a copy of the pictures in lightroom.

Hi,
You could try resetting your LR preferences file - this may also be corrupted or have issues.Do you have many presets, plugins etc in LR? You may need to reinstall these if you do this.
Are you on PC or MAC?
Info on location of your prefs file can be found here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/843/cpsid_84313.html
You could rename the file extension to .old which would allow you to keep it as a backup.
If you have tried all this then you may need to do a clean install of PS then Lightroom. If you uninstall both and backup & delete remaining folders this should resolve this issue and may be the quickest way to fix..
What is the full exact wording of the message? Also have you tried using PSD in your external editing settings in LR?
Couple of things for you to try..

  • Best workflow for round trip editing?

I understand that iPhoto does not support (yet) round trip editing, i.e. a RAW file can be sent from within iPhoto to an external editor but the resulting edited file cannot be saved back directly into iPhoto but has to be temporarily stored somewhere (i.e. desktop) and reimported into iPhoto using the Import function.
However, this screws up my "roll" filing structure, because the imported file is now part of a new roll and cannot be moved back to its original one.
Sure, I could process my photos before importing but this only postpones the problem. Indeed, next year, there will be an other iteration of Nikon Capture with new features and I will want to reprocess some old files to get better results ... and they will have to be reimported into iPhoto!
Has anyone come up with a suitable workaround that allows an imported file to be part of an existing roll or a solution to merge 2 rolls?
    Thanks
    Michel

    Solved!
It's again RTFM ("Read The F*ng Manual").
    Workflow would be as follows:
    1. Edit RAW photo from roll, say "Xmas '05", with external editor.
    2. Save modified photo as jpg version (so that the modifications are visible in iPhoto) to desktop.
    3. Import into iPhoto (this creates a new roll, say "Roll 112", number is automatically assigned by iPhoto)
    4. Select all photos from "Xmas '05" and "Roll 112" in the iPhoto library
    5. Select Create New Roll from the File menu (all photos are now combined in a single roll, say "Roll 113" with today's date)
    6. Rename Roll 113 into Xmas '05 and change the date to keep the chronological sequence
Voila! Roll "Xmas '05" has been updated (just tried it. It works).
I should have completely read the manual before posting.

  • Round trip editing with BC?

Is there round trip editing between Muse and Business Catalyst? Or once it is published to BC and gone live you can still only edit in Muse? If you add a BC tag within Business Catalyst it will break Muse compatibility?

    Hi,
If you make any changes to the codes generated by Muse else where then the changes are not reflected back in Muse. So, next time you publish/export the changes are not there and you have to make them again.
Also, refer to this kb article which talks about using the custom code in Muse,

  • Aperture 3 and Round trip edits with Photoshop CS4

In Aperture 2, if I selected a Master or Version in my Aperture library and then right-clicked and edited in Photoshop. Made my changes in photoshop and then saved it, the changes would be created in a new version in the Aperture library. When viewing the PSD in Aperture, all my changes would be visible. In a sense it felt like a new "master".
In Aperture 3, if I duplicate those steps, save the edited photo in PS CS4, the resulting image in the Aperture library doesn't show my edited changes UNLESS I press 'M' to display the master. This feels like a bug. In other words, if I toggle back and forth between the original version (which I used to edit and send to PS) and the new Photoshop PSD file, they look identical until I toggle the Master and then I see all my photoshop edits. Very different behavior from Aperture 2--at least for me.
Can anyone explain what I am seeing? Is this an expected behavior? I hope I was clear enough.

i havent pressed M, but I have noticed that it takes aperture a longer time in AP3 to display the edits on an image that has been roundtripped to CS4. If you jump to full screen from browser view it should show the edits immediately, but sometimes when i go back into browser mode it switches back to an unedited view. however after a minute (sometimes more) the changes will be noticable both in full-screen and browser view without any toggling. I think it's just taking longer to update the image..it doesnt necessarily require you to toggle M forever to see the edits.
at least not in my case.

  • Pictures round-tripped to Elements are correct in Browser but not in Viewer

    Hi all,
This is a bit weird.  When I edit a photo in Photoshop Elements 10 (and then "save" and thereby send it back to Aperture), the edited photo shows up correctly edited in the Aperture browser, but it's uncorrected in the viewer.  I always use the "Split View," and so the corrected photo appears among the thumbnails, but when I click on it, the photo in the viewer doesn't have the PSE corrections!  Weird.  This worked well for many many months, but now doesn't seem to work.  If I close out of Aperture and come back in, the photos are correct in the viewer and the browser.  Any ideas?  (These are correctly saved -- not "saved as" -- in Photoshop.  And it worked well for months.  No need to discuss saving and round-tripping.)  Thank you!

maybe this is caused by this bug:

  • Trouble with Round trip between Soundtrack Pro 2 and Final Cut Pro 6

I have edited a home movie together. I then have sent the sequence to Color for grading and then after completing the Color changes and Rendering. I sent it back to Final Cut Pro. It starts out working fine but during the transfer process it stops at somewhere between 50% and 60%. It is during the "Importing XML Data" phase. It just sits there and does not change and I have to force quit to get out of it. The exact same thing happens when I try to round trip from Soundtrack Pro 2 back to Final Cut Pro. So I am unable to make use of the changes I make in these programs.
This is a round trip process that I have successfully made many times before. Nothing has changed. I am working in Final Cut Studio 2 with the latest updates on an Intel Mac. Any advice on how to remedy this situation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks.
What's I've been doing is exporting the Soundtrack files as AIFF files, then importing them into Final Cut...
It's working... at least well enough. Still seems harder then just being able to go back and forth between the two applications.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • PPro cs6 - Audition cs6 - PPro, round trip problem

I'm having trouble completing the round trip. I got my audio tracks from PPro CS6 to Audition CS6 without problems, right by the manual. But I'm having trouble getting that audio work back  into PPro.
I'm working a mid-sized project (one hour class, two cameras, etc. headed for DVD). Got edit lock. Everything is done now except for cleaning up audio. After the audio I can send the whole lot to Encore for DVD making. But first, audio.
Took the entire sequence to Audition  via PPro's  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..."  path. This worked just fine. It pushed all the audio files to Audition, Audition opened up and gave me a "make an Audition project" dialog box, etc. Nearly 100 files came over to Audition, on the right tracks, in the right order. Very nice. Made my changes. So far so good.
What I've read in the manual says that all I have to do when I'm done is "File...Save" in Audition, then PPro will have and use the changes. Sorta like Dynamic Link, but different. So I did the the project save.
At this point, things deviated a little from the plan. I started up PPro, opened the project, and no sign of the Audition work. Can't find a file anywhere in the project panel that says Audition on it. The files on the timeline are still the dark green of the multi-camera edit, not the lighter green of an Audition file. When I've done this for individual clips, I've gotten back a file with a name like "*Audio Extracted_1.wav" that shows up with the same green as the Audition icon on my desktop.
So I thought, fine. Not as easy as I had hoped. I'll just have to import it manually. But PPro doesn't seem to have any idea how to deal with a *.sesx file, which is the project file from Audition.
Should I be exporting, say, a *.wav file from Audition (how?) and import that into PPro? And if I do, is there a good workflow to re-sync this audio with my video tracks?
I'm confused. Don't know what I did wrong. Don't know what do to fix it. Don't know how to avoid this in the future. So any help gratefully received.
    Bruce Watson

    OK, now I *am* confused.
Just did it again (a different DVD project however), as described in my original post. This time PPro stayed open for me. So I sent all the sequence audio files to Audition via the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." comman, then did my editing in Audition, and saved it the Audition project. Go back to PPro, and... nothing. No sign of any file from Audition in the project panel. No sign on the time line. No sign of any Audition file anywhere in PPro that I can find.
What gives? What am I doing wrong?
What I did get was a folder at the same directory level as my PPro project file, a folder in it with the project_name I gave Auditon when it opened from the PPro  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." command, and then two files for every clip in the project (a *.wav and a *.pkf), and finally two more files, a project_name.xml and a project_name.xml.sesx.
I suppose I can export a *.wav file to PPro manually. Worked before. But I'd like to learn the "correct" way, the way Adobe intends it to work.
Darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Help???

  • Round Trip form Preiemer to Audition more than Once

Hoping someone can help.  I am struggling to work out how to send a project back to Audition more than once?  Basically I have a job that I sent from Premiere to Audition already but the client has come back with some further edits.  What I can't work out is how I can send that project back from Premiere to Audition for a second time once I have made the various edits requested Premiere so that I can just tidy up those bits back in audtion again.  At the moment it seems like I will have to try and re do all the work I had originally done in Audition or try and copy and paste clips form one Audition project to another and re align all the wave forms.
I am sure I am being stupid and missing something really basic so if someone can shed any light on how I can do this that would be great.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

    Hi Alan
Your right the files are there but all as separate wav files that were created when the Audition project was first created and I have the original Audition timeline that was created when I first sent the project back to Premiere. What I can't seem to figure out though is that when you send the project back from Premiere to Audition the new audio tracks that were created don't link back to the originally extracted wav files or the Audition Project that created them.  Instead Audition creates a new wav file for each complete track (for those tracks that came from Audition first time round).  However if you click on one of the single track clips from the original Audition to Premiere round trip and choose edit original it opens the original Audition project with all the clips in that created. Which isn't the behaviour I was expecting  I was hoping for something a bit like the dynamic link relationship between after effects and premiere so if you have round tripped your audio any further changes in premiere are reflected in the audition project or a copy of the audition project. Is there away of doing this?
    Thanks

  • Aperture 3.03 & Photoshop CS4 round-trip

    I'm trying to make a round-trip between Aperture 3.03 and CS4 Photoshop.
Background: I've chosen CS4 Photoshop as my external editor - 16-bit PSD
Problem: When I select an image and "Edit with CS4", I successfully launch the image in CS4. I made a filter change (Lens Correction) and then did a "SAVE" within CS4. The PS version appears "very briefly" within Aperture 3.03 and then disappears.
Attempt at a solution: Tossed "com.apple.Aperture.plist" preferences file and re-launched Aperture.... result - CS4 edited version still disappears in Aperture browser window.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.
    Dale

Ensure maximise compatibility is checked when you save the psd file.
Ensure you're in RGB colour space.
What happens when you quit and re-open aperture does it show for a second or stay disappear - does it show a dotted outline? Can you open the file in full screen?
    Thanks

  • UML Modeling: Round Trip Engineering

    Hi!
Yesterday I worked through and tested the UML Modeling: Developing Applications tutorial. Everything worked awsome and I managed to complete step in the tutorial.
Today, when I started the studio and wanted to play a little more with Round Trip Engineering I found something strange.
If I add an operation to the java-source using the source editor it do not show up in the UML class diagram but if I add an operation to the UML class diagram it shows up in the java-source.
Is it me that is doing anything wrong?
    Is this a known issue/bug?
    Win XP Professional
Java Studio Enterprise 8 with latest update today.
    Sincerely,
    // Paul

    Paul,
Glad to hear you like the UML tool. Not sure which release/version you are working with so I'll try to cover all the bases hear.
The UML module was released with the Enterprise Pack (early access version I believe), the live roundtrip was still enabled. Then we pulled UML module out of the Enterprise Pack because we needed to do some overhauling of the roundtrip feature and we didn't want to prevent Enterprise Pack from going beta, so now UML is available via the beta update center. This version of UML has the live roundtrip disabled so that code is not generated with every model manipulation and the model is not updated with every source edit. It sounds like this is the version you are working with.
There is a strange scenario where the live roundtrip is unintentionally enabled (live roundtrip should never be enabled... ever - this is not your fault). A bug was filed and I fixed it, but the fix was integrated into a different branch than the one available via the update center. This is because we are about to release Java Studio Enterprise 8.1 and so we did all the bug fixing on that branch and all those fixes will be merged with the UML that is on the update center, probably in the next week or two, but a date has not been decided, yet.
In summary, rest assured that the issue (and many many others) have been addressed, and those fixes will be merged into the version available on the update center very soon.
Please keep the feedback coming on reverse engineering and code generation as we are rebuilding these features from scratch for NetBeans 6.
    thanks

  • Round trip between Flash Builder and Catalyst?

Is it, or will it, be possible to go back to Flash Catalyst once a project as been brought into Flash Builder?
I have imported the .fxp project into Flash Builder, made some code changes, then exported a .fxp project out again.  I want to be able to edit this in Catalyst so I can make design changes, but when I try to open the project Catalyst says it cannot be opened becuase it has been edited outside of the application.  Is there something I am missing or has this simply not been implemented yet?
It would be a shame to not be able to "round trip" from Catalyst to Builder.
Thanks for your time and the product looks very exciting.

    Hi Watern,
For the first version of Catalyst, we're focusing on the one-way workflow from Catalyst to Builder (start in Catalyst, finish in Builder). We realize this is a big limitation and hope to address soon after the first release.
There are a number of partial solutions for this problem, which you can find by searching around the forum. Most of them involve dividing the work between Catalyst and Flash Builder as cleanly as possible, which is surprisingly easy to do given the new skinning architecture. Here's an excerpt from a post I wrote that seems to have been lost:
"If you are iterating between Catalyst and Builder on a custom component, you may find it is worth splitting the custom component out in that fashion. I'm planning to write an article explaining this, but here's a preview:
In Builder, create a new subclass of SkinnableComponent. Put the component logic in there.
If you need to add visual logic like "now move the konfabulator 10px to the left", you should make konfabulator a skin part, using the metadata (see Scrollbar.as, in the Flex 4 SDK, for an example).
If your component has states, declare them with the metadata.
In Catalyst, make sure that your custom component has those parts and states.
Then import the custom component into Builder.
In the MXML file for the custom component, change the root tag <Group> to <Skin>. It's now a skin (not a custom component).
In the MXML file for the skin, add the [HostComponent("com.me.MyComponent")] metadata (see HScrollbarSkin.mxml, in the Flex 4 SDK, for an example).
Wherever you are creating the instance, change the code <MyComponent/> to <MySkinnableComponent skinClass="MyComponent"/>. Now you're creating an instance of your skinnable component and assigning it the skin created in Catalyst.
Done! If you make more changes in Catalyst, you'll have to repeat steps 5-7 again (for now!)."

  • Sleeping Round Trip Adjustments in Progress

I just edited a peace last night in FCP6 last night. I sent the sequence to Color-v1.0.4 and done all of the primary color tweaks then saved.
I did not close either program (FCP6 or Color) and left them open as i slept from 5:30 - 11am.
then i came back to the project WOKE the computer. Color was still open but now my proresHQ footage is jumpy in Color.
    1st the dumb question:
How do you save and close your programs if you are in the middle of a round trip.
Will this stuttering be cleared up in FCP?
    Is this a usual behavior?

Go ahead and save and quit. You don't need FCP open to run color, it is referencing the original media. They are stand-alone project files once they are created.
After you render, they will probably be fine in FCP. Do a test, it can't hurt anything.

  • Round trip clearing adobe form field values not binded to webdynpro context

    Hi ,
I have developed a webdynpro ABAP application with Interactive form. I'm calling a webservice on 'exit event' of the one of the form fields. Once webservice is executed, Im filling a table with 300 rows which is in the form. The table fileds are binded to webservice fields from the dataview of the form , these are not webdynpro context attributes in the data view.
But when I open any seach help , this table values are disappearing. I need to execute the webservice again to get the values.
can any one tell why the values in the table are disappearing? since I have binded to the webservice fields the values should remain there.
    Apprecaite your response.
    Regards,
    Ravi

I looked over that note yesterday, but too quickly - i thought it was an older note explaining which standard programs to run to test out the connection etc...
but i see now that there is an important point:
The "pdfSource" attribute of the InteractiveForm UI element should be linked only if the Web Dynpro ABAP application requires the PDF document for further processing (saving data to the database, and so on). However, it is mostly only the data entered in the interactive form that is relevant for the application. If this attribute is linked, the Web Dynpro ABAP framework must request an updated PDF document from the Adobe document services each time data is changed in the form.
It looks like this is saying that a round trip is possible in WDA.
EDIT - I wish SAP would fix this certificate issue. My first post every day is doubled because of it.

  • 2 round-tripping questions

I just went into my external editor (photoshop elements) and edited a photo that I had exported into PSE from within aperture. I have 2 questions.
    1. I have no clue how to make that edited version appear in aperture now. I have tried saving it under three different names. I have turned off the external editor. How do you get back to aperture and see the newly edited photo? There must be something easy I am missing.
    2. Can I run my external editor by itself and import a photo from my aperture library without turning on aperture? Or must I always export the photo out of aperture and into the external editor?
    Thanks so much in advance.
p.s. I even listened to the "round-tripping" podcast on Inside Aperture. Made it sound so easy.

Keep in mind every time you open an image with the
external editor a new master is created (psd or tiff)
and will increase the size of your Library.
-- or rather, every time you open a new image, or make any Aperture adjustments to an externally-edited image.
If you edit a file in an external editor and save it, and then select it again later and again choose Open with External Editor, as long as you haven't adjusted it meanwhile in Aperture, the same version will be sent rather than a new one being created. This puts a premium on organizing your workflow so that external editing is normally the last thing you do to an image, though you're not limited to that if you need to work the other way.
