Round tripping from Premiere CC to Audition CC back to Premiere-no video

My last big project was on Adobe CS6 and roundtripped from Premiere to Audition and back to Premiere and it all worked out great. Been doing the recent project with Premiere CC to Audiition CC. Made the audio adustments in Audition, saved, etc and went to export under Multitrack>Premiere Pro(and keeping the individual stems).  When I saw the new sequence in PP project panel and opened it up, but all I got were the edited audio tracks, but no video. I tried it three times and the same thing happened. I can't send out the finished movie without the video. And I won't start over and copy and paste the video over the new audio sequence(still on seperate video tracks before the final tweaking). What was changed from CS6 to CC?

Not a direct reply to your question but...
I have only exported video to Audition as a reference track- preferring to use the PP timeline for the master export.  I somehow feel it's less prone to image quality loss (codec dependent!)
To that end, I add the imported Audition mix-down either as a single or multiple stems, depending upon the project requirements,  and place them in sync in the original timeline.

  • Round trip from Aperture to PS CS3 and back problem

    Hi everyone; I hope someone can help me to solve this. I posted it before but the only suggestion I got was to check if the processed photo is not stacked under, which it isn't.
    I have PS CS3 set as my external photo processing app (exports are PSD 16-bit 300 dpi) in Aperture 2.1.1. When I process the picture in CS3 and then save it(mind you I only SAVE, I do not do SAVE AS) as PSD (or TIFF) Aperture only shows me the original file in preview with the little circle informing me about the round trip to CS3. So the processed file does not show. Instead I only see two identical versions of the same photo or a layer from CS3.( I mean, I see the master and the version with the little circle).
    If I save the work in PS CS3 as jpeg and then import into Aperture, it shows fine. When trying to import the processed and saved PSD and TIFF files, Aperture only shows the original file.
    If it helps, I am working on layered pictures (HDR) where I use different parts of different pictures to get wide dynamic range. I export 3 or so photos from Aperture at once to CS3, process them into one, flatten the picture and save it.
    And then Aperture just shows me the original file as version. I really need your help with this.
    I have done this before 2.1.1 and it worked. Not sure if I have changed anything that might be causing this.
    Thank you for your ideas.

    Ernie, the photos are captured by Canon XTi so they are in CR2, saved to my internal HD and then "loaded" to Aperture as referenced files.
    As for PS CS3, I am not sure whether I have it set up as a scratch disk or not (if you could let me know where to check it).
    Yesterday, I did yet another round trip and found out that when I finish in PS and SAVE and CLOSE, then the file shows up properly in Aperture. What I was doing before was I SAVEd if but did not close. Then I would SAVE AS in PS to make sure I have some kind of a version of the file if the one in Aperture fails to work.
    So it seems I cracked it but I would still like to hear what you have to say, or anyone for that matter. It seems to me that the SAVE-CLOSE is crucial.

  • Trouble with the round trip from Soundtrack Pro 2 to Final Cut Pro

    I have edited a home movie together. I then have sent the sequence to Color for grading and then after completing the Color changes and Rendering. I sent it back to Final Cut Pro. It starts out working fine but during the transfer process it stops at somewhere between 50% and 60%. It is during the "Importing XML Data" phase. It just sits there and does not change and I have to force quit to get out of it. The exact same thing happens when I try to round trip from Soundtrack Pro 2 back to Final Cut Pro. So I am unable to make use of the changes I make in these programs.
    This is a round trip process that I have successfully made many times before. Nothing has changed. I am working in Final Cut Studio 2 with the latest updates on an Intel Mac. Any advice on how to remedy this situation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Make sure your easy setup has the correct frame rate for your sequence.  Seems crazy but somehow or other fcp assigns a frame rate to audio files.   I've found this can sometimes be tricky to get right.  Here's what I've done to force the issue.  Make sure the easy setup frame rate reflects that of the target sequence in fcp.  Create a new project.  import the audio in the new project.  And then copy the clip from the new project to your main project.
    Good luck

    Hard to say where the XML interpretation is getting lost... That it stalls at 60% could mean a number of things. If you have a cuts and dissolves simple timeline, that should not be an issue. Something is causing a corruption, though and it could be a media type, a filename (which can break folder paths), a filter or motion tab which generates an invalid value, or a recompression that violates the sequence settings.
    At this point, I start cutting up the original sequence and roundtripping it until it works, or breaks and then try to figure out what's different. Often there's something hidden like an imbedded recompressor in a nested sequence or something like that, that will allow COLOR will load, grade, render, and then not know what to do to re-write the export XML, or re-imbed it illegally.
    There are a lot of things that FCP does that editors take for granted that COLOR utterly cannot cope with -- but may deceptively carry along and then crash on the next step.

  • Round trip from photoshop or portraiture causes problems(TIFF)

    And always has to be honest.  2 different computers, with this new LR build and and several before it.  Mac OS latest everything and previous builds..  Macbook Pro and imac..
    Edit in photoshop CS5 (and previous versions) as a TIFF, apply clone corrections and liquify fashion portraits.  Save and close and re-open for some final tweaks in Lightroom.  I still get erratic sliders, slow updates when moving sliders and jumping bars to previous values on TIFFs only.  Even worse when i edit in Portraiture App and skin smooth, save tiff and return to lightroom.  It takes a about 3 minutes to even show itself before editing, keeps flashing up then dissapearing again.
    If i remove Tiffs that have been through photoshop or portraiture and synchronise the folder to import them back into Lightoom my problems disapear..  but its tiring.  I now find myself using C1 more and more because the transitions between apps are smooth and problem free.  However i prefer the flexibilty, speed and control of LRs functions
    Others must be experiance this, it can't be fate this is happening on two different computers, old computers that have been replaced and previous versions of Mac OS and Lightroom.

  • Trigger server round trip from input field

    HI,
    I have a normal  input field with  F4 help. I am trying to trigger a server round trip after selecting a value using the value help. I tried with the following code in the P-getter method , but is not working.
    when iv_property = if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event OR
               iv_property = if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_onclick.
        rv_value = 'myeventname'
    is it because the fp_server_event or fp_onclick are only valid for a dropdown and not for a normal input field as in my case ?
    Please help.
    regards,
    Amrit.

    Amrit,
    I too checked now, there is an importing paramter. Try using code like this
    CREATE OBJECT rv_valuehelp_descriptor TYPE cl_bsp_wd_valuehelp_f4descr
        EXPORTING
          iv_help_id        = 'CRMD_PRICING-CURRENCY'
          iv_help_id_kind   = if_bsp_wd_valuehelp_f4descr=>help_id_kind_comp
          iv_input_mapping  = lt_inmap
          iv_output_mapping = lt_outmap
          IV_TRIGGER_SUBMIT = abap_true.
    Thank you Bhavishya for the tip.
    (I dint try it yet.)

  • Audio from Sony EX1r Camera will not round trip from Audition

    With Premier CC15 the audio from my Sony EX1R Video Camera comes back from Audition after the edit  just as a loud buzz.  It works fine in Premier 6 and also CC.  My Panasonic camera Audio, as well as all others work fine.
    Can someone help?

    Giving up? Four product releases in nine months. That's a pretty aggressive development schedule for a new product.
    Motion is a separate development track and always has been. Roundtripping to Motion was not available in its first releases. Apple has taken a new approach with publishing and rigging, which has great benefits. It basically meant that the entire effects, transitions, generators, and titling architecture didn't have to be rebuilt in FCP and that the two applications can work together. There are a lot of things this allows. For instance, if you want to add effects from Motion to clips in FCP, roundtripping is quite unnecessary; simply publish the effect with the parameters you need and apply the effect inside FCP.
    Roundtripping is really useful for a lot of things and will probably be implemented. In the interim third party soluations using XML hooks are available.

  • Trigger round trip in parent view from called view on close event

    Hi Experts,
                       We have a requirement in which from my view.htm page on click of a button (using onclientclick) I am opening another view using window.open of javascript.
      Now in pop-up after processing it, i am using self.close to close the pop-up, before this point I am setting collection of calling page in on_request method of pop-up page controller class, but it does not reflect after pop-up has closed. though it reflects on any round-trip on the calling page.
      How do I trigger round trip from pop-up after Self.Close from htm page?? Or from do_request method?
      I am trying to use opener.location.reload, but use of opener gives permission denied javascript error.
    Please help, I am really stuck here.
    Thanks,

    Still no replies no one using BSP now a days?
    I have one more doubt, in addition to above, I am coding in IC Web 5.0 application (CRM_IC), one of the z-views i created in z-bsp application (Z_WW_CRM_IC), where i have input field using CRMIC bsp tag in Search View.
    Now, I am opening another view in Pop-up using Onclientclick of button (as mentioned in above post too), but in the view URL, i need to send values that are entered in the search view, how can i do that.
    I have tried in javascript, var val = <%= <contextnode>->get_country( attribute_path = 'country') %>;
    but it doesn't work, it works only if there already has been a server round trip!
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Thanks.
    What's I've been doing is exporting the Soundtrack files as AIFF files, then importing them into Final Cut...
    It's working... at least well enough. Still seems harder then just being able to go back and forth between the two applications.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • Round trip between Flash Builder and Catalyst?

    Is it, or will it, be possible to go back to Flash Catalyst once a project as been brought into Flash Builder?
    I have imported the .fxp project into Flash Builder, made some code changes, then exported a .fxp project out again.  I want to be able to edit this in Catalyst so I can make design changes, but when I try to open the project Catalyst says it cannot be opened becuase it has been edited outside of the application.  Is there something I am missing or has this simply not been implemented yet?
    It would be a shame to not be able to "round trip" from Catalyst to Builder.
    Thanks for your time and the product looks very exciting.

    Hi Watern,
    For the first version of Catalyst, we're focusing on the one-way workflow from Catalyst to Builder (start in Catalyst, finish in Builder). We realize this is a big limitation and hope to address soon after the first release.
    There are a number of partial solutions for this problem, which you can find by searching around the forum. Most of them involve dividing the work between Catalyst and Flash Builder as cleanly as possible, which is surprisingly easy to do given the new skinning architecture. Here's an excerpt from a post I wrote that seems to have been lost:
    "If you are iterating between Catalyst and Builder on a custom component, you may find it is worth splitting the custom component out in that fashion. I'm planning to write an article explaining this, but here's a preview:
      In Builder, create a new subclass of SkinnableComponent. Put the component logic in there.
      If you need to add visual logic like "now move the konfabulator 10px to the left", you should make konfabulator a skin part, using the metadata (see Scrollbar.as, in the Flex 4 SDK, for an example).
      If your component has states, declare them with the metadata.
      In Catalyst, make sure that your custom component has those parts and states.
      Then import the custom component into Builder.
      In the MXML file for the custom component, change the root tag <Group> to <Skin>. It's now a skin (not a custom component).
      In the MXML file for the skin, add the [HostComponent("com.me.MyComponent")] metadata (see HScrollbarSkin.mxml, in the Flex 4 SDK, for an example).
      Wherever you are creating the instance, change the code <MyComponent/> to <MySkinnableComponent skinClass="MyComponent"/>. Now you're creating an instance of your skinnable component and assigning it the skin created in Catalyst.
    Done! If you make more changes in Catalyst, you'll have to repeat steps 5-7 again (for now!)."

  • Logic pro and soundtrack pro round trip not working right?

    Hi I am using soundtrack pro as a round trip from logic pro do reduces some background noise in some audio files. This was working great. Now I know with the noise reduction I just have to save the file and it updates in logic. But sometimes I was putting compression on the audio file after the noise reduction as well in soundtrack pro, I then I hit render to selection as the compression was a real time effect. After that I hit save and closed and it updated in logic. This all worked fine until today. Now just doing the noise reduction and saving all works fine. But if I put any real time effects on and do the render to selection, sound track pro just closes itself straight after it has done the render to selection and therefore I lose my work I have done on it and it doesnt update the logic project as it was saved.
    Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks!

    Just checked it out thanks, but this wont help me on this one. Where I may have put real time effects on like eq or compression I then need to render to action, after that I could flatten audio. But what is happening is that when I have put real time effects on then go to render to action (so them effects now become part of the action list) once its done the render to action it just shuts it self straight away, before I even get a chance to save it. But thanks for the guess, actually showed me something I didn't know anyway, so learnt something!! Thanks.
    Thinking I might try uninstalling and installing again see if that solves it?

  • Motion to FCP round trip color shift

    I've been searching all over the web and have found many posts in various forums about the gamma shift that occurs when Motion projects are imported into FCP and then exported out as an MOV (ProRes or H.264), but have yet to find a suitable solution. All of Apple's documentation seems to indicate that using Motion with FCP should be as easy as importing a Motion project to the timeline. Does anyone know how to prevent the gamma shift that ultimately makes Motion elements in the exported MOV appear washed out?
    I know that I can enable FCS color matching in QuickTime to adjust the appearance of the MOV, but I'm sending this file to clients that don't use Final Cut and won't have this option; especially those on PC.

    Same problem. No grade or LUT. Mac Pro Quad, BM Intensity Pro, JVC DT-V20L1UA.
    My test involved NTSC color bars. I exported 10 sec bars out of FCP to a QT, reimported them and cut them back into my sequence. At that point, the imported bars were identical to the fcp bars I'd started with.
    After I'd SENT sequence to Color, the bars changed, mostly in lighter in contrast & brightness plus a little hue shift.
    After the scene was rendered in Color and round-tripped to FCP, the new "look" came back to fcp
    Could it be in the conversion of FCP YUV to Color RGB

  • Round Trip form Preiemer to Audition more than Once

    Hoping someone can help.  I am struggling to work out how to send a project back to Audition more than once?  Basically I have a job that I sent from Premiere to Audition already but the client has come back with some further edits.  What I can't work out is how I can send that project back from Premiere to Audition for a second time once I have made the various edits requested Premiere so that I can just tidy up those bits back in audtion again.  At the moment it seems like I will have to try and re do all the work I had originally done in Audition or try and copy and paste clips form one Audition project to another and re align all the wave forms.
    I am sure I am being stupid and missing something really basic so if someone can shed any light on how I can do this that would be great.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

    Hi Alan
    Your right the files are there but all as separate wav files that were created when the Audition project was first created and I have the original Audition timeline that was created when I first sent the project back to Premiere. What I can't seem to figure out though is that when you send the project back from Premiere to Audition the new audio tracks that were created don't link back to the originally extracted wav files or the Audition Project that created them.  Instead Audition creates a new wav file for each complete track (for those tracks that came from Audition first time round).  However if you click on one of the single track clips from the original Audition to Premiere round trip and choose edit original it opens the original Audition project with all the clips in that created. Which isn't the behaviour I was expecting  I was hoping for something a bit like the dynamic link relationship between after effects and premiere so if you have round tripped your audio any further changes in premiere are reflected in the audition project or a copy of the audition project. Is there away of doing this?
    Thanks

  • How do I "round trip" a multi track Audition project with After Effects?

    I'm a complete Audition newb and haven't been able to find an answer for this yet. I would like to make an ajustment in my Audition project and then move over to After Effects to hear it paired with the video. Also my voice over track is not in the mix even though it has signal and when I click into the individual cuts I hear it just fine. The voice over is track 2.

    I'd need to see a little bit more of the Track Panel for Track 2 to know for sure why it's not included in a mixdown, but the likely cause is the Track Output is not set to Master, but instead was set to a specific output channel on your device.
    As for the round-tripping between Au and AE, this process does not appear to be as elegant in After Effects as it is in Premiere Pro.  You'll need to export the mixdown of your multitrack session, overwriting the file After Effects is referencing, the re-link it in AE.  This would be how I'd approach it:
    1. From Audition multitrack, File > Export > Multitrack Mixdown > Entire Session.  Create a file in your AE project folder called Audition Mixdown.wav (for example.  Best to use uncompressed WAV or AIFF formats at this stage.)
    2. Drop this file into your Composition.
    3. Make changes to the mix in Audition and either overwrite the original file, or save a new version.
    4. In After Effects, right-click the file in your Project panel and choose Replace Footage > File... selecting the updated file.
    Since it appears AE loads assets fully into RAM, it doesn't monitor the file on disk for changes and so it doesn't auto-update the asset when it is overwritten by Audition.  In Premiere Pro, where the assets are streamed directly from disk, changes saved to the source asset update in the Premiere timeline almost immediately.  Perhaps this is a potential workflow optimization we can discuss with the After Effects team to improve this workflow.

  • PPro cs6 - Audition cs6 - PPro, round trip problem

    I'm having trouble completing the round trip. I got my audio tracks from PPro CS6 to Audition CS6 without problems, right by the manual. But I'm having trouble getting that audio work back  into PPro.
    I'm working a mid-sized project (one hour class, two cameras, etc. headed for DVD). Got edit lock. Everything is done now except for cleaning up audio. After the audio I can send the whole lot to Encore for DVD making. But first, audio.
    Took the entire sequence to Audition  via PPro's  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..."  path. This worked just fine. It pushed all the audio files to Audition, Audition opened up and gave me a "make an Audition project" dialog box, etc. Nearly 100 files came over to Audition, on the right tracks, in the right order. Very nice. Made my changes. So far so good.
    What I've read in the manual says that all I have to do when I'm done is "File...Save" in Audition, then PPro will have and use the changes. Sorta like Dynamic Link, but different. So I did the the project save.
    At this point, things deviated a little from the plan. I started up PPro, opened the project, and no sign of the Audition work. Can't find a file anywhere in the project panel that says Audition on it. The files on the timeline are still the dark green of the multi-camera edit, not the lighter green of an Audition file. When I've done this for individual clips, I've gotten back a file with a name like "*Audio Extracted_1.wav" that shows up with the same green as the Audition icon on my desktop.
    So I thought, fine. Not as easy as I had hoped. I'll just have to import it manually. But PPro doesn't seem to have any idea how to deal with a *.sesx file, which is the project file from Audition.
    Should I be exporting, say, a *.wav file from Audition (how?) and import that into PPro? And if I do, is there a good workflow to re-sync this audio with my video tracks?
    I'm confused. Don't know what I did wrong. Don't know what do to fix it. Don't know how to avoid this in the future. So any help gratefully received.
    Bruce Watson

    OK, now I *am* confused.
    Just did it again (a different DVD project however), as described in my original post. This time PPro stayed open for me. So I sent all the sequence audio files to Audition via the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." comman, then did my editing in Audition, and saved it the Audition project. Go back to PPro, and... nothing. No sign of any file from Audition in the project panel. No sign on the time line. No sign of any Audition file anywhere in PPro that I can find.
    What gives? What am I doing wrong?
    What I did get was a folder at the same directory level as my PPro project file, a folder in it with the project_name I gave Auditon when it opened from the PPro  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." command, and then two files for every clip in the project (a *.wav and a *.pkf), and finally two more files, a project_name.xml and a project_name.xml.sesx.
    I suppose I can export a *.wav file to PPro manually. Worked before. But I'd like to learn the "correct" way, the way Adobe intends it to work.
    Darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Help???
