Rounded corners causes faulty justification

The page was layed out InDesign CS and converted to CS4. There was never a problem with it in CS. This is the second such text frame that has had this problem in CS4. I'm expecting others to appear as I've got hundreds of such text frames in my book.
The problem: if you look at the top of the right-most column you will notice a gap at the end of the line. And that has caused a bigger problem -- text at the end of the frame has become overset. The gap at the top seems to function as if the text is wrapping around an object, but there are no objects that I can find. I've tried changing fonts, copying and pasting and lots of other techniques, but only these two work:
i 1. Change the corner shape to 'none'.
i 2. Generate a new text frame of the same size, and copy and paste the text.
Copying the text frame and pasting will not fix the problem.
I'm intrigued. What could be the cause of this invisible text wrap that disappears when you copy and paste the text, or when you change corners? Is it in the font? The text frame? Corners? The conversion from CS?
I would appreciate any suggestions on a global solution across 50 book chapters. It happened once to another text frame and I only picked it up on a preflight test where the text was flagged as overset. Then it happened to the text frame above. I'm wondering if another text frame will randomly be next -- and if so what might be causing it so that I can do something about it.

The inset is partly the explanation, but it doesn't explain why when I set the corner radius to 5 mm, for example, the top line text is forced in 30 mm. When I set the radius to larger and larger values, the end text smoothly follows the contours, but there is some problem with smaller radius sizes.
This problem has made me see the importance of making sure that near the end of a project, text frames are shrunk to just the size of the text. That way, if the text is re-flowed in ways that are undesirable, as my example is, then the text becomes overset and it will be flagged.
I'll get my offsider (my patient partner) to go through the entire book (2000+ text frames) and resize. It'll get her out of the kitchen for a while.

Problem Rounding Corners in Flex 3

Hi,
I'm having some problems rounding my panel and controlbar.
Actually, the corners are rounded. The problem is that at the bottom of the panel are light gray squares peeking out from behind the rounded corners. If I put a dropshadow on the panel then, only one of the corners has the light gray square problem.
I simplified the code a lot. But, it should show what I'm trying to do.

I've read that sometimes there are problems rounding a panel that has a border. I tried setting the border to solid and thickness to zero and it's still not working correctly.
Any ideas as to how to solve this problem?

Okay, I figured out the cause of the problem.
The component is in a ViewStack and the edges of the ViewStack are peeking out. I set the backgroundColor of the ViewStack to red and that's how I determined the cause of the problem. I set the viewStack's width to 100% and that solved it.

Problem with round corners..the server said it is MBssss of traffic created because of that?

The problem only occurs when the visitor is using Internet Explorer (and possibly only some versions of IE)
2)
The problem is that the file pie.js is being loaded many times for these Internet Explorer visitors, causing your traffic to be higher than usual, and our server can potentially blocking the visitor temporarily for requesting the same file many times in a short period.

The file pie.js is meant to show cool effects like rounded corners and background effects in Internet Explorer (those cool effects work fine without pie.js for other browsers, so pie.js is only loaded when the visitor is using IE). I assume on your web site, it’s for the rounded corners on some of your borders, like the testimonials box.

The file is being loaded by another file on your web site, called museutils.js
5)
Museutils.js is part of “Adobe Muse”, a web design solution that I’ve never heard of until now. Either your current web developer uses it, or someone who developed your site in the past used it to create your site.

I believe there is a bug in the programming of museutils.js causing it to reload pie.js many times

This bug may be a new one that has been introduced in a recent version of Adobe Muse.

Cropping Pics so they have "rounded" corners

I have Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac and need to "edit" some photos to make the corners "rounded" in lieu of the regular rectangular, square cornered shape. I'm a 'beginner' with some of the more advanced features of the application, have played with the "tools" (including the "rounded rectangular" shape tool, but still can't get a final product with the rounded corners. I found a website where a person who uses the PC version gave a step by step way to do it, but, unfortunately, one of the key steps uses some feature that apparently is on the PC version only.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I will definitely try this. I just came back from 3 weeks in France with about 5,000 digital pics. Quite a few of the pics taken with my Nikon wide-angle-soom lens have some vignetting (dark corners) because the high-end camera store I bought my equipment from sold me a filter that caused the problem (the filter "ring" is causing the vignetting). So, to fix some of these photos, I need to round the corners to remove the dark areas. If I crop using a rectangular shape, it removes too much of the photo's subject matter.
Re. Barbara's inquiry about what I found online that doesn't seem applicable to the Mac version has something to do with "contract" and "paths" features. It may have been that these things are applicable to the full blown Photoshop, but I can't find that website at the moment to recheck what I did find there. In any event, I'll try the above suggestions which are very much appreciated. ;-)

Rounded corners in IE

Rounded corners - different in CS4

Hello,
In CS3, to create a square or rectangle with only some of the corners rounded, I would do the following:
1. Create a square/rectangle
2. Apply the Effect > Stylise > Rounded Corners effect to it
3. Create a new square, and align it to the corner I wanted to be square
4. In Pathfinder, do Add to shape area
When I do the same in CS4, the rounded corners on the first shape disappear when I do "Add to shape area" in Pathfinder.
Does anybody know of any reason why this would not work in CS4?
I've attached 2 screenshots below that show the results in CS3 and CS4.

Pathfinder Shape Modes can be applied either as an Effect or as an ordinary uniion of the paths. In versions prior to CS4, the default for those buttons applied an Effect, which you would then Expand to "nail down" as an ordianry path operation. You could optionally AltClick the Shape Mode Pathfinders to cause them to be applied as ordinary path operations.
In CS4, the default/optional behaviors were swapped. Now the default is to apply a normal path operation, and AltClicking applies it as Shape Mode Effect.
CS3 will yield the same result as you are getting in CS4 if you AltClick the Shape Mode Pathfinder instead of just clicking it. So inversely, I would expect that in CS4, you can get the same result as in CS3 if you AltClick the Shape Mode.
Related, the Filters menu was removed in CS4, so I assume Round Corners is only applied as an Effect which has to be Expanded to make it an ordinary path.

Nec 3550a won't open. obstructed by round corners

I just installed a nec 3550a dl dvd burner in the lower bay. It won't open because the rounded corners are just barely obstucting it. I can't be the only one who has had this problem. I thought I would post this before I shut down my cpu and try putting it in the upper bay. maybe it will fit better. If not i guess i will have to remove those corner pieces. It would be great if somone could help me. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what you mean by "The front "door" must be removed from the drive's tray". Do you mean the siver face(on the outside of machine)? Maybe i was not clear as to what the problem is. The slot that the dvd tray slides through is too small. The slot being part of the external of the machine not attached to the internal optical drive carrier. The roundeed cornes of the top part of that gap are causing the problem. If they were stratight corners I would have no problem.
Do you mean remove the face that covers both optical drives(on the outside front of the machine)? So they aren't covered and cd/ dvd traces dont have to slide through those gaps. They will be breathing freely sort to speek.

[Solved] How to force enable rounded corners in a theme on GNOME 3.16

Hello
I just recently started using arch (and I regret why didnt I use it earlier -.-, such a great OS). I put up Gnome 13.16.2 as my desktop environment particularly because I like its interface (rounded corners, the ui etc. Kinda reminds me of my fav mobile OS MIUI).
And I can see that most of the themes (almost all that I have installed infact) like to remove rounded corners and give a flat rectangle. Is there some way to force rounded corners by editing the theme? I did had a look at gnome-shell.css of theme and the "panel" portion of it didnt had any such part (or atleast I couldn't find it). Some help would be appreciated, really want those rounded corners as well as the theme.

The file looks like malformed XML (malformed, because it's missing quotes around the attributes, closing tags, etc.). If it's supposed to be proper XML, the right way would be to fix it and use an XML parser in your favorite scripting language to load it, read the other file, and alter the data systematically.
xmllint in the libxml2 package may be useful for checking XML syntax and reformatting.
If you know Python then you could probably use the xml.dom.minidom or one of the other standard XML libraries.
If it is in the format posted then the following script should do what you want, or at least provide a starting point. It's not the most efficient approach but it seems to do the trick.

Is there a way for export to create rounded corners?

I love creating layouts with Fireworks, but it always bothered me that it didn't recreate any rounded corners.
When CS6 came out with the CSS Properties window, I was happy to see that the CSS in the Properties window faithfully created my objects with rounded corners, so I had high hopes that the regular export would include this markup... but it didn't.
My current work-around seems very frustrating. I export my file as HTML with CSS images... I get a perfectly rendered page with one exception... the corners are still square. Then, I go back to Fireworks, open the CSS Properties window, then cut and paste the tags for the corners one by one into the CSS file.
It seems to me with such heavy emphasis on CSS integration, that the export function should include the this code too.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is this still an unsupported feature?

Use the CSS Properties panel to extract and copy CSS for the selected object on the canvas. It has no integration with the CSS and Images export workflow OR the HTML and Images export workflow (the latter of which produces a rigid, image-based, html table layout). HTML and Images export is really only suitable for clickable prototypes. CSS and Images export is really only suitable if you like re-writing all the CSS to match your normal workflow.
General workflow:
1) Add effects to vector shape (corners, drop shadow, glow, gradient fill, border, opacity, etc..)
2) Open CSS Properties panel. CSS properties for selected object are displayed.
3) Click the Copy All button in the panel.
4) Switch to Dreamweaver or your preferred web editor.
5) Paste the CSS into the desired class, id or element rule.
6) View in Live View or Preview in Browser to see results.

Master slide and rounded corners

Would anyone be able to tell me if there is a way to replace master slides with different shapes, such as a rectangle with rounded corners? I'm using Captivate 7.

This is not on a Master slide, but you can create rounded corners on the borders of your project. Go to Project > Table of Contents or Skin Editor > click the square icon underneath the Skin - that will take you to the borders. Then you can check the Show Borders > Style, click the drop down and select Rounded corners. You'd probably want to make sure you have all four edges selected.

Box with rounded corners displays as rectangle in Web Browser

I am using the box control (IBoxObject) in my Crystal Reports with rounded corners. However the box displays as a rectangle with square corners when viewed in a web browser. I have tried this in IE 7.0.5730.13, Firefox 3.0.3 and Chrome 0.2.149.30 all give the same problem.
The interesting thing is that the boxes display correctly at design time and when exported to PDF, but they wonu2019t display correctly in IE/Firefox/Chrome. Here are the specific settings for the box:

I've been asked to create a pdf (which is just for on screen, not print), which when viewed has rounded corners. Is this possible? The original design is in illustrator.

Realistically, no. PDF pages are always rectangular, and while there are techniques to place some interactive content partly-outside the page region it's not a practicable way to simulate rounded corners.

Making a photo with rounded corners

I just followed both of these instructions to create rounded
corners on a rectangular image:

What am I missing? Both of them show the transparent canvas?
I drew the rectangle, rounded the corners, pasted inside and all
the other steps and saved it. When I use in my html file, the
background shows!

Rounded corners on unordered list

I'd like to be able to have style my vertical menu, made with
an
unordered list, to have rounded corners. The menu is a fixed
width, but
the items could sometimes run onto two lines, so the height
of each item
needs to be flexible.
I created images called top.gif and bottom.gif for the curves
and when
I've done boxes I've made the bottom image a background to
the box div
tag and the top image a background to the heading tag within
the div.
However with the unordered list I don't really have two
elements to
attach the images to, if you understand what I mean?
I've been googling but haven't yet found a solution. Can
anyone
recommend a way of doing this?

Could could wrap the UL in a DIV, giving you two elements.
You could give the first LI and last LI custom classes,
giving you to
elements.
While not pristine, I often will use wrapper divs to attach
CSS too:
<div id="menuOuterwrapper">
<div id="innnerWrapper">
<ul>...</ul>
</div></div>
That works for me in that it keeps my 'style HTML' separate
from my 'content
HTML'.
A goofy interpretation of 'separation of style and content',
perhaps.

IconItemRenderer with rounded Corners

Hi everyone,
im using the mobile IconItemRenderer and need to round the corners of the list-Items to be in conform with the rest of my UI-Design. is there any way to archive this?

extend the IconIremRenderer and then override the drawBackground method and draw a rect with rounded corners
something like this...
