Route multiple VLANs through single port

Hello,
I have a series of 3560g's setup. I am going to be connecting two of them between different offices via a fiber cable. I use 3 VLANs and am unable to find a way to make this work.
Each site will have 5 switches. 2 for VLAN1, 2 for VLAN2, and one that has VLAN1-3 on it. Is it possible to link the two sites together with the single cable in a manner that allows the two connected to route the 3 VLANs through this one cable?

Just to clarify, only the ports, on the link between the switches, are defined as trunk ports.
By default, each switch will send all its defined VLANs to the trunk port.  If both switches have the same VLAN, those VLANs will become logically one.

    the question is tough. You can not use the SSID in on AP for multiple vlans. Once you assign the AP to the vlan then you will have to make all traffic in the vlan. With that being said. you could assign the AP's to specific vlans, but if you roam from one vlan to another you will have problems at L3. But you can use WDS to make that happen.

  • Multiple VLANs through to layer 2 switch

    So long as each switch supports VLANing (which most manageable switches do), then yes. Some model numbers on the switches would help here though to be sure.
    Also, keep in mind that assigning VLANs is a layer 2 function, not layer 3. So long as you tag the VLANs you need to pass between the switches on the feed ports between them, you should be able to have them running without issue.
    Could you provide a little more detail as to what you're trying to accomplish so that we can better advise you how to proceed?

    Is it possible to send multiple vlans across a layer 3 dell powerconnect to a Meraki layer 2 switch and configure the ports to access the different vlans? 
    Is it also multiple vlans across a layer 3 dell powerconnect to a layer 2 dell powerconnect switch and configure the ports to access the different vlans? 
    I've been playing aound with this and I can't seem to get it done.

  • WRT1900AC - Multiple tagged VLANs in single port

    I use my WRT1900AC with my french ISP Orange which provides multiple services over different VLANs :
    VID 835 : Internet
    VID 838 : Sync TV
    VID 840 : Streaming TV multicast
    Like you see, the TV service must be connected to two tagged VLANs, 838 and 840, with priorities respectively fixed to 4 and 5. So I've correctly configured ports 3 and 4 on the router and everything works perfectly.
    But, I think this configuration is a waste of ports on the router and 2 wires in the living room is not up with my girlfriend's tastes.
    So, I wonder if it's possible to assign the two tagged VLANs (838 and 840) in one unique port on the wrt1900ac.
    If it's not possible, maybe Linksys staff will read this post and will add this feature in a future firmware release

    This router’s capability is only limited and dependent on the services that your ISP has given or allowed for you to use. I think it really has to be a one is to one configuration, not only with this router because I haven’t noticed any router that has this feature so far. This is really another idea for Linksys can work on.

  • Multiple booting - through esata port, usb, firewire

    I have tried to boot from eSATA, and I discovered a trick.  In the BIOS, you have to switch the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE (aka legacy, compatibility, or just off).
    I have a Y450 with a built-in eSATA port and an Intel ICH9 SATA controller.  I  bought an external powered enclosure that has an eSATA connector.  The BIOS would not recognize the external drive, and so wouldn't list it in the boot order.  It would recognize and boot from it via the USB connection however.  Also, even though not recognized by the BIOS when connected via eSATA, once Windows 7 booted up, it found and used the drive just fine.  I was able to partition and format it in Windows 7 over the eSATA connection.  I was also able to boot Linux from CD-ROM, and then it also was able to see the eSATA drive (and install Linux).  I just wasn't able to boot from it.
    I experimented with settings in the BIOS, and found that if I set the SATA mode to IDE, then the BIOS did recognize the eSATA drive, list it in the boot order, and could boot from it.  I've had no problems booting and running Linux on the eSATA drive this way, and performance measurements are close to the manufacturer's specs for average read throughput.  What I lose without ACHI is native command queueing (which could provide a performance in random read cases), and hot plugging.  Oh well.
    The big pain is that I have to switch back to ACHI in order to boot Windows 7 on the internal drive.  Otherwise I get the blue screen of death, due to Windows expecting SATA devices, not IDE.
    I think Lenovo could fix the BIOS if it wanted to.  I wish it would...

  • SRP547W Multiple IPSec policies through single IKE policy

    I am trying to create a VPN between an SRP547W and a Cisco IOS router, in this case a UC540.I am running firmware 1.2.4 (003) Jan 11 2012
    Now I can do this with an SRP527W and many other routers successfully. Including other IOS routers 1801, 1941 etc.
    The issue I have is on the SRP547W I cannot create more than one IPSec Policy through a single IKE policy. I require this to route multiple vlans to our remote site.
    When I try to add an additional IPSec Policy I am give the error "IKE policy has been used by other IPSec policy"
    This is possible to do on the SRP527W with latest firmware. I have tried rolling back to earlier firmware but instead I am given an error about overlap.
    Latest release note for this firmware suggest this issue was already resolved.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Sorry to hear you are having difficulty.
    I was able to test this on firmware 1.02.01 and get the overlap error that you mention. I resolved it by choosing "IP address & subnet mask" in the local selection field. When I used "IP Address" I received the same error unless I changed the IP address to something (other that the one used in the first policy) under the local traffic selection then it allowed a succesful submission. The remote traffic selector or ip address doesn't not have any bearing on the error.
    Are you using the same local IP address for each IPSec policy and if you are, try changing the local IP selector to IP+Subnet mask. Also as a reminder, the number of IPSec policies is based on bandwidth limitations and most often no more that 2 site-to-site tunnels can connect at a single time.

  • How to open multiple forms through differnt responsiblity

    I have a 11.5.10.2 system on Linux red hat.
    Business pepole want to open multiple forms through different responsiblities from multiple web brower sessions.
    However when I opened 2 IE brower sessions, log into responsiblity and open one oracle form in one IE session and log into another responsiblity through second IE session. The first opened form disappear and replaced by the second oracle form opened from another IE session. That means only one Oracle form can be open at the same time for this case.
    The current walkaround solution is to open 2 browser sessions using 2 different browsers ( one is IE another is Firefox) to fix this issue. Apparently this is not a good solution.
    Can you please give me some suggestion to fix this issue?

    The note mention:
    The new forms launcher does not support opening multiple forms applets for the same database across different responsibilities. Opening a form in another responsibility will cause any forms currently open to close. This behaviour is standard.
    However it is possible to enable users to open multiple forms sessions for the same database for the same responsibility when using MS Internet Explorer as the client browser. This is made possible with Patch 3293241. This patch is included in Oracle Applications release 11.5.10 as standard.
    My current system is 11.5.10.2. I verified that patch 3293241 has been applied. I have no problem to open mutiple forms with in SINGLE web brower session, within same responsibility. I am aware that you can not open multiple forms through SINGLE web brower session through multiple responsiblity. What I tried to do is to open mutiple forms through multiple web browers sessions. Open one brower session, log into system and open a form, then open another web brower session, log into the sytem and open a form through different responsiblity. The system does not allow me to open multiple forms through multiple web brower sessions. Only the latest form can be displayed. Is this standard design for 11.5.10?
    Can Form Servlet architecture solve this limitation?
    Actually afterI changed some form funcation paramter in Oracle Application Developer responsiblity, I can open 2 form session from 2 different responsiblities through 2 web brower sessions. I can open one form session as Application Developer and another form session through another responsiblity. Then I can switch to other responsiblity through Application Developer responsiblity to open forms.
    Is there any other way I can open multiple form sessions to the same database through multiple web brower sessions?

  • Creating multiple vlans on a 877

    Hi,
    I want to create a default, voice and access vlan on a 877, but just one vlan comes up. On the other two vlan inetrfaces is the protocol down. I guess this has something to do with bridging. I've tried that already, but I can't find documentation about this. Can someone tell me how to bring up the other two vlan interfaces?

    You need a trunk in case you are passing multiple VLANs on the port. However, in your configuration you do not need a trunk because each port is assigned to one VLAN.
    IN order for all VLANs to go UP all you interface should be Physically and Porotcol UP. Check that all your Fast Ethernet Interfaces are UP.

    i think i have not quoted the question properly.
    see by doing 'switchport mode trunk' it will flow the traffic of all vlan right.
    but if i want to give access of selected vlans then what to do,
    i have tried the command 'switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,3'
    do i have to give encapsulation on that port, but on 2950 encap cannot be configured.
    now can u tell me wht is possible to do.

    Though pictures are worth a 1000 words so I hope someone will post something similar to my question.
    I have 7 - SB 302-08 switches with the most recent firmware. (updated firmware today, thanks to the video, and TG for the CLI)
    All 302's are configured for layer 3.
    This is my first experience with the SMB line of switches.
    I have a main office and several satellite branch offices.
    All locations are connected back with a "Q to Q" circuit on individual ports to a vendor supplied switch at the main office.
    I need to link all branch office 302 switches back to the main office 302 switch and allow traffic amongst them.
    Mainly traffic between each branch office and the main office.
    There maybe a future need to incorporate VoIP on them as well, but that is a back burner issue.
    These locations will have an individual VLAN and 302 switch but need to receive data from the main VLAN and possibly others.
    I have a "core" SB 302 setup at the main office with its own VLAN.
    Each branch switch has its own VLAN.
    I would also like to have a centralized management VLAN for the switches.
    In trying to configure the core 302 I keep losing connectivity and having to reset it.
    On the branch switches I end up getting them to only link to themselves with different IP's and not the core.
    I'm assuming this is caused by my not configuring interconnectivity using ACL.

    Well first you want to make sure you are running latest firmware 1.1.1.8 I do believe
    Next either console into the switch or you can turn on SSH/Telnet under Web gui (Security••àTCP/UDP services and make sure SSH/Telent is enabled)
    Now we configure the switch via Cli
    We need to enter global configuration mode.
    Configure Terminal
    (next add our vlans)
    Vlan database
    Vlan 10
    Vlan 20
    Vlan 30
    Exit
    (you can run show command to see your vlans)
    do show vlan
    (Now configure the port how you would like)
    Interface GE1
    Switchport mode access   (this is making Gigabit port 1 an access port)
    Switchport access vlan 20 (this command is changing access port vlan from 1 to 20)
    (less configure a trunk port)
    Interface GE2
    Switchport mode trunk (this makes port 2 for trunking)
    (Now less add our Vlans)
    Switchport trunk native vlan 1
    Switchport trunk allowed vlan add 10,20,30
    Exit global configuration
    (Use this command to copy your settings to startup)
    Copy running-config startup-config
    (Some screen shots attached)
    I see you have a WRT54G router which i don't think support vlans unless you have 3rd party OS installed.
    So currently is the SG300 swtich operating in layer 2 or layer 3 , guessing this is why you choose to move up to 300 series switch?
    If the switch is not in layer 3 mode but in layer2 when setting it to layer3 the switch will default all pervious settings.
    If the switch is set in layer 3 mode you might have forgot your default route
    (Command setting default route)
    configure terminal
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1  (192.168.1.1 being address of your WRT54G)
    Now you would need to set up ACL's to deny and allow what traffic you wanted to filter on the SG300
    Also reading your post we would need you to call into support center SBSC @ 1-866-606-1866
    This way we could get a better idea of your current configuration and assist with fixing or finding a solution for you.

  • Multiple vlans configuration issue with RV016 router and SG 300-10MP witch

    I have to configure multiple vlans served with a unique DCHP server . As first step, I just will The DHCP server to serve 2 vlans. The following is the hardware and configuration that I implemented :
    Router (RV016 10/100 16-Port VPN Router) as gateway mode:
    IP : 172.16.0.1/24
    DHCP Server :
    IP : 172.16.0.2/24 GW: 172.16.0.1
    2 subnets :
    172.16.1.0/24 GW: 172.16.1.1 to serve vlan 1
    172.16.2.0/24 GW:172.16.2.1 to serve vlan 2
    Switch (SG 300-10MP 10-Port Gigabit PoE Managed Switch) as layer 3 mode:
    IP 172.16.0.254 (vlan 8 default)
    Vlan 1 : 172.16.1.1
    Vlan 2 : 172.16.2.1
    1 device connected on each vlan
    a workstation on the vlan 1
    a laptop on the vlan 2
    In this scenario (see the attached pdf file) the DHCP server is connected on a router, hosts on vlans dont receive any IP address.
    But If I connect the DHCP server on a trunked switch port and adapt the DHCP server gateway 172.16.0.1 to 172.16.0.254, hosts receive ip address properly.
    I have to connect the DHCP server directly to the router. How can I do that, what is wrong in the configuration ?

    Hi Eric, the small business group doesn't support the ASA config, but  I can help with the switch.
    A couple things I notice in your description-
    48 port (192.168.1.254) and the other 24P (192.168.1.253)  we have a  second vlan 20 set up on the 24P switch (192.168.2.253)  we have ports  1-12 set for vlan20 (untagged and trunk), the remaining ports on on the  default vlan 1.
    The connection between the switches, is it 1u, 2t?
    The link between the switches should be 1u, 2t, the switches support the trunking and vlan tagging, meaning all communication will work fine.
    We have the 24p and 48p switches connect using GE1 and GE1.  We are unable to ping a device on vlan 20 ( on the 24p switch
    The 24p switch should be in layer 2 mode, if you have the 48 port l3 switch upstream. Additionally, you need to have the default gateway set on the 24p switch.
    We have a static route set on the 24p switch (0.0.0.0 192.168.1.0). 
    Between the switches, it shouldn't require any static routes, assuming you correctly trunk / tag your ge1 ports, with both switches operating in l3, the ip route table dynamically builds the connected routes, therefore a static route is redundant.

    I have one switch with more VLANs. I need to transfer these Vlans to secondary site through routers Cisco SOHO router 78 G.SHDSL. This situatioin is in attachment.
    I'm not sure if this is possible, because this router has only common ethernet ports.
    Probably I would need trunk ports on this router.
    Could you please help me to specify, which device could replace  Cisco SOHO router 78?

    My guess is that either ifIndex.2 or .3 corresponds to your SHDSL interface.  You should walk ifDescr to confirm.

  • WRT160Nv2-Problem with Single Port forward to multiple servers with same internal port numbers.

    On my network I have 3 systems that I've set up as RDP hosts.  And need to get to all three of them externally.  So I'm trying to do the following single port forwarding.
    RDP 1   Forward 4000 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.11
    RDP 2   Forward 4001 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.12
    RDP 3   Forward 4002 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.14
    When I hit "Save Changes" I get the error "Port range already exists".  So it's good that it won't let me overlap ports generally, but at the same time, I'm trying to send them to different IP address.  There should be no overlap in this case.  Please advise
    I'm trying this on the WRT160Nv2 with firmware 2.0.02, which I had just bought this weekend.

      Thanks for your suggestion.  I have now upgraded the firmware to 2.0.03 build 7.  But I am still seeing the error message
    As I mentioned previously, I'm trying to single port forward to multiple machines in the following way:
    Machine 1:   Forward 4000 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.11
    Machine 2:   Forward 4001 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.12
    Machine 3:   Forward 4002 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.14
    The error appears to be generated by the fact that 3389 is selected for multiple external port numbers, but the same internal port number.  The router I believe isn't taking into account that the similar internal port numbers aren't taking into account the different internal ip address I'm trying to send this to.
    This would be a standard sort of practice for running a live HTTP server on one machine, and a new beta HTTP server behind the router on a secondary machine on the same internal port, but different external port numbers for test purposes from the outside.

  • Telnet to router through AUX port

    i have configured my router to telnet through modem dialin but when i dials from my pc to router it give me garbage charcter in my hyperterminal. can any one help me that is this is problem with my router configuration or the cable connection with the router.
    router AUX port --> ciscoconsole cable --> cisco 29-4043-01-->modem

    Even though the AUX port is supposed to "auto-baud" (usually you need to hit the "Enter" key a couple times), some/many/most/all current modems will set the DTE speed (the console cable) to the DCE speed (the modem-to-modem link) ... and "auto-baud" doesn't always work.
    Since the modems will (by default) connect at 56K (or the top speed), chances are that it will try to talk to your Cisco device at some baud above 9.6K, which it is probably expecting.
    You can do one of a couple things:
    Hard set the modems to a 9.6k DTE speed (and/or DCE speed, since you won't go faster then the slowest baud)
    OR
    Experiment on the router to hard set the DTE speed to the baud set on the modem's serial port (frequently 115 kilobaud).
    Check it out and get back to us.
