  • Problem with gateway voice in router 1841 or 1760

Reading Cisco documentation , I see that router 1841 and 1841 does not support as Voice Gateway.
My idea is to connect to him a Primary ISDN (30 channel B) so that it works like a PBX and users can make calls towards PSTN.
Is possible to do this with these routers (1841, 1760)?
    Thanks.

Using T1, E1 or G.703 multiflex trunk interface cards with cisco 1760 or 1800 series are both available.
You can use these cards with 1760:

  • InterVlan Trunking between Catalyst 500 Express and Router 1841

    Hello,
I am currently attempting to configure 2 VLANs on a Router 1841 and allow them to communication with my Catalyst 500 Express switch. The Router Setup is simple
    its 3 Sub-ints on the FE0/0 interface.
    interface FastEthernet0/0
    description $ETH-LAN$$ETH-SW-LAUNCH$$INTF-INFO-FE 0$
    no ip address
    duplex auto
    speed auto
    interface FastEthernet0/0.1
    description *** ADMINISTERING VLAN ***
    encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
    ip address 10.19.1.1 255.255.255.0
    interface FastEthernet0/0.2
    description *** DATA VLAN ***
    encapsulation dot1Q 2
    ip address 10.19.2.1 255.255.255.0
    interface FastEthernet0/0.3
    description *** VOICE VLAN ***
    encapsulation dot1Q 3
    ip address 10.19.3.1 255.255.255.0
    ip helper-address 10.19.2.2
FE 0/0 Port on the Router is connected to port 24 on my Catalyst. I set the Smartport on port 24 of the Catalyst to be Router for trunking purposes
I get a notification error on the Catalyst saying "Undersized frames detected from the connected device" (which is my ROUTER).
does anyone have a suggestion? Or Is it supported this scenario?
    Thanks,
    Eduardo

I had the same issue when I was working on CE500s and a WLC.
In the CE500 Device Manager, go to Configure->VLANs
Create your VLAN 2 and 3.
Then go back to smartports, click customize, and verify that VLAN-1 is default (native).
Sending information through a port on the CE500 that it is not expecting will set alerts in the log.
    Hope this helps.

  • Router 1841 new user

    Hello anyone,
I'm trying to add a new admin user on router 1841.
I usually use SDM to access router but I didn't find any command line there.
I've tried through terminal, but it tells me:
    router#username ***** privilege 15 secret 0 *******
                ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
    What to do?
    thanks in advance!

    Hi Edi,
You can't configure that in Privilege-exec mode. You need to enter into global configuration prompt and then use the below command. Here i'm configuring racha as a user with privilege level 15.
Don't forget to rate the helpful posts.

  • Cisco Router 1841,2911

Does Cisco router 1841 or 2911 or any other model routers has default IP or not

If I understand your question correctly; no, there are no IPs configured by default.

  • I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP
If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol.  If not, the airprint won't work.

    a forum is no realtime-communication ... ;-)
For the ISR G1, it was supported from 12.4(24)T, so I would assume that your ISR G2 has this feature if you are running 15.x.
EDIT: The Feature-navigator says that it's supported starting with 15.1(2)T.

  • IPSEC tunnel between adsl router (1841-K9) and Windows ISA

Hi. Can anybody point me in the direction of how to achieve this?
Basically weve got a UC500 running CME. We want to send a home worker home with a router and a phone, and allow their router (probably an 1841 with a WIC 1ADSL and K9 pack) to connect to our SBS server with ISA on it and make an IPSEC tunnel.
    Thanks!!!

This is now showing up with running ssh over this tunnel. I can get the initial connection, but certain commands are not going through.

  • "Having a cluster node act as a router is not supported by Sun Cluster"

    Hello,
can someone please explain me the rationale behind the above statement?
I need to enable ip_forwarding in the kernel and would like to understand what "not supported"
means exactly (i.e. what the involved risks are).
    I have a 2 node Solaris 9 / SC 3.1 cluster runnning with ip_forwarding = 1 since more than 2 years
wirhout a problem, at least that I am aware of :-)
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

Correct, I only use failover addresses (Logical Hostnames), glad to know it is safe to have routing in this case!!
I think you should mention that in the docs, and maybe in scinstall (which, right now, just touches /etc/notrouter
and says "please DO NOT enable routing" :-))
Thanks for the explanation, I really appreciated it.
    Best,
    Rick

  • Which routing protocols are supported on ASA 5585

    Hi,
I am curious to know which routing protocol is well supported on Cisco ASA 5585. do someone on the forum has implemented routing on ASA?
I have ASA 5585 on context mode, as of now 4 contexts have been created. upstream device is Nexus.
I have ASA with Software Version 8.4(4)1 and Device Manager Version 6.4(9).
if someone can point me to good implemented example of routing protocol to their environment (like OSPF, BGP) that would be great.
    Thanks

    You're welcome.
Multiple contexts adds another twist - in ASA 8.4 dynamic routing protocols are not supported at all for multiple contexts. Reference.
ASA 9.0 added support for dynamic routing protocols in multiple context modes, including OSPF v2 (but not v3 for IPv6). Reference.
FYI ASA 9.1(2) is current as of this writing and is the recommended release in the 9.x train. (Mentioned near the end of the latest TAC Security podcast - episode #37 here.)

  • RV016 split VPN tunnel support?

I read a rumor that the RV016 does not support split VPN tunnels.
    See here:
    http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanwan-reviews/31525-cisco-rv082-and-rv016-v3-vpn-routers-reviewed
My  understanding is that VPN tunnels on my RV042 routers will send  internet traffic out the local gateway, and only send traffic thru the  VPN tunnel if it is destined for the remote subnet.  That is my  understanding of "split tunnel".
Is that not true with the RV016?

Your understanding about split tunnel is correct. RV016 behaves the same as RV042 in this regard.

  • Does this router CISCO1921/K9 support VPN

    Hi there!
    ON HQ, i've a CISCO2901-SEC/K9 router.
but for one branch, i'm looking for model CISCO1921/K9
does this model, with ip base IOS that comes by default, support IPSEC so i could create site to site VPN with HQ.
if not, what can i do if i pickup such model, to upgrade it's IOS?
    let me know.
    regards!

The "Security License for Cisco 1900" part number SL-19-SEC-K9 has a list price of US$1000.
If the need is identified when buying a new router, it is usually sold as part of a bundle and the cost delta is less than that.
In either case, actual costs varies per your local reseller.
Without the SEC license active, the commands necessary to confiure VPN with IPsec are not available.
