Router/Adapter Compatibile?

Good afternoon, I have a quick question....I recently upgraded my router from a WRT54G wireless-G broadband router to a WRT300N wireless-N broadband router. On one of my PC's, I have a WMP54G wireless adapter. Do I need to upgrade this adapter to a wireless-N adapter, or it sufficient? I am having trouble getting this PC to identify/connect to the network after upgrading and I am wondering if the router and adapter are not compatible with each other. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

try the following wireless settings on the router ,
ssid - any non-linksys name
radio band - wide
n-channel - 9
standard channel - 11
beacon interval - 50
Fragmentation threshold - 2306
RTS threshold - 2307
let me know if these changes work for you or not....
also, the wmp54g should be able to connect to the wireless-n network...there is no compatibility issue

  • Router/Adapter Setup

Been trying to set up an XP computer as the wireless end of a Router/Adapter connex.  Using WRT54G/WMP54G.  A Vista system system computer on the wired end.  The adapter end pretends that it's connected but cannot access Internet.
Am able to separately connect each computer to the wired end and connect to Internet. Can you help me with the problem?

    Wizzard,
Sorry, I'm just above a novice.  Does this mean that reinstalling the adapter solve the problem?  How do I install only the drivers for it?  Sorry for being so slow.

  • 300N Router/Adapter not working with Satellite internet

I had previously SRX200 router and it was working fine with Satellite but recently I bought again 300N router and adapter but it's not working. It give the strong signal for few seconds and drops it rightway. Please let me know if there is something I need to do with settings.
    Thanks

Paul make sure that the firmware of this router is upgraded to the latest version 1.03.0, it resolves a lot of issue.

  • Won't recognize my router/adapter

I am at a loss as to what to do.
Problem - my desktop will not recognize my wireless Linksys router.
The main computer in the bedroom is hardwired to the cable. My desktop in the living room is on a wireless router, not hardwired. Last night we had to restart the cable modem. The router seems to be working, but my desktop will not access it. Says the adapter is disabled and I cannot find a way to enable it. I was going to uninstall the driver and re-install and it won't find the driver in "add/remove programs" for me to do that.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your adapter is disable simply right click on My Network Places, check under LAN see if there is an red X.  If yes, right click and select 'enable'.

  • Need help setting up MoCa for superior speed for upstair room in house

Hey guys i need some help. I just upgraded my plan to the 50/20 Fios and now i really want that speed upstairs to my gameroom. Before i had the 10/2 plan where wireless was sufficient (i could get 9mpbs download speed wirelessly everywhere i needed internet using the mi424wr)
But now this crappy (no offense ) router is just not sufficient for the 50mbps download speed. Even if my laptop is RIGHT NEXT to the router, i only get max speed of 20 - 23mpbs download. Whereas if im connected via ethernet, i get the full 50+Mbps download speed. For some reason the upload speed is fine at over 20mpbs. (Anyone has any explanation for this? If other 2.4ghz devices were causing interferences, shouldnt the upload speed be affected also?) And Yes, i have changed the channel to 11 (every other wifi network is on 6)
I also have this hawking high gain antenna connected to the router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833164156
In any case i feel that MoCa would be a much cheaper and more reliable approach to achieve better speeds compared to buying a wireless n dual band router & adapter
Currently i have the ONT connect to the WAN Router VIA Coax
I also have Dish network for Tv services with the STB upstairs (same room where i want the Ethernet from MoCa to connect to PC,PS3). Not sure if relevent, but the dish is set up so that my downstair tv has acces to Dish tv VIA the coax connected to the STB upstairs. So ONE STB provides TV upstairs AND TV downstairs with dish services via Coax.
From the various articles i have read, this is my understanding of what i should do but of course im a newbie so i need your suggestions. I should add splitter the coax coming out of the ONT and connect one split to the router and the other split to the wall? then upstairs add a splitter to the coax connection from the wall and split one for dish STB and split one for MoCa actiontec which will then be connect to the internet and i could run ethernet from MoCa actiontec to ps3 and PC.
Is that anywhere even close to a working solution or im just dreaming that it would this easy? lol
    Thanks for all the help!

The actiontec router is b/g mode only and I've changed it from mixed to g only. I wish they had upgraded my router with the services but nope still have the crappy actiontec router.
If you read my post I've already changed the channel most appropriate for me.
I've also read that post about interferences but if im literally ONE feet away from the router, I should atleast get above 40 mbps download speed. Why is my upload speed above 20mbps but Download speed can't exceed 23mbps?
Is there a possible solution for moca to coexist with dish services? A special splitter to seperate both lines? Or is powerline my only option?
Keep in mind, with Wireless you're limited by the fact that it is also a Half Duplex connection by design (can only send OR receive on a radio, can't do both like you can on Full Duplex Wired connections) which reduces speeds, and also protocol overhead which increases as you add additional devices to an access point.and increase traffic in a broad scale. So, if you're getting 22-25Mbps on Wireless G, that's about all you're going to get from it. 54Mbps is a theoretical limit with the assumption you've cut down all overhead, have a full duplex connection and are not encountering noise.
I recall seeing something on DSLReports about using MoCa with a Satellite TV provider, and it involved a lot of filtering within the coaxial to work. Ideally, you're best using a dedicated line for Coaxial if you're going to use MoCa to cut down on the complexity and risks caused by using a satellite system's coax.

  • How to connect my LaserJet 6MP?

I just bought a new iMac, and I have yet to figure out how to make it communicate with my laser printer. (Obviously, the printer worked like a charm with the previous system, due to Apple Talk.) I have searched through several of the discussions on this topic with no luck, so I think I must be missing something.
Currently, I have the printer connected through a Farallon Ethernet router (adapter?). Both my printer and my DSL cable go into the Farallon, and then a single cord connects the Farallon to the computer.
    IP address - 172.16.1.10
    Subnet mask - 255.255.0.0
    Router - 172.16.0.254
One of the threads mentioned that the Farallon does not work with Snow Leopard, in which case I would have to get a different gadget. Is that the JetDirect card that people keep mentioning?
Please forgive my ignorance. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did set a static address using Telnet via Terminal to turn off DHCP and set a static address.
Print a configuration page to get the current local address of the JetDirect. Then open Terminal.
If you don't have Terminal set up, it is found in Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app. Then the command is the following, substituting the current JetDirect address for <ip address>
    *telnet <ip address>*
After the JetDirect responds to this, follow its directions by typing "?" or "/" as indicated. Typing the question mark gives Help and the slash will give your current settings.
To turn off DHCP, the command is
    *dhcp-config: 0*
Then check your setting again with the "/"
Then to change the ip the command is:
    *ip: <new ip address>*
where you substitute the new static ip address that you want for <new ip address>.
Make sure your new desired address is on the same subnet etc as the rest of your network of course.
Then check your settings again with the slash. If everything looks good, you are done. Type "quit" to quit and save your changes. Then "exit" from your Terminal session and quit Terminal as usual.
If you have a PC (or Windows available via Bootcamp or virtualization on your Mac) there are several other ways to access the JetDirect and set a static address such as via Explorer or Firefox or HP's software that you can download from them. (HP is more Windows-centric since they make PCs and they are rather obtuse with their manuals.) Unfortunately the Firefox access is Windows-specific and doesn't work directly via OS X. But, the Telnet procedure is actually very easy, just text-based instead of GUI.
See pages 45 to 51 and 131 to 137 of this JetDirect manual for more info:

    Hello All,
I just purchased a WRT610n Router, the wireless n adapter, and the gaming router, My question to you the customer is have any of you had problems with the gaming router switching to a wireless A network mode , I have my gaming system on 5nhz and I want the transfer rate to be at the highest possible rate and I know switching to an A network will change that transfer rate I am only 25 feet away on one level so any suggestions would be helpful or comments as well.

     Hello,
I have WRT610N, WGA600N, and I am on Comcast Broadband Transfer Rate Of 1GBPS on my p.c. and the transfer rate on my notebooks is 130MBPS to 230MBPS also I am running my gaming System on the Dual Band 5NHZ like I said I am on one level with nothng between the Router & Adapter so I am wondering why it is transfering to 802.11a Frequency because I know that lowers Tranfer Rate from a Wireless N Frequency so any help you can give me that would be great.
    Thank you

  • Internet keeps freezing constantly.

When I am on an internet browser (I use firefox mostly) my browser will completely freeze for a few seconds every few minutes or so. It gets really annoying so I'd like to know how to fix this problem.

Let me know the Detials of the network like Model number of Linksys router & adapter ... so that i can tell you few steps ...

  • E1200 CONSTANTLY disconnects.

I'm 33, and since the day I set up my very first network, I've used Linksys routers. I've never switched brands because Linksys routers have always been simple to work with. They just worked.  And then I get an e1200 - my first Linksys router by Cisco - and it doesn't just work. In fact, given all of my experience with routers (and it's pretty extensive at this point), nothing I do can keep this router from disconnecting randomly. I've changed channels, I've changed security types, I've upgraded the firmware, done a factory reset, I've changed the MTU not only on the router but on all of the computers in the house... The last router died because my godsons accidentally poured liquid into it. But it worked fine with the exact same set-up. It worked better, in fact.  By the way? I NEVER sign up to websites just to complain. But I did it this time. Because after two months of this (and pointless attempts at getting help from Cisco techs) I've just given up on trying to find any value in this router. 10+ years of using Linksys faithfully, do you understand? My old router from the early 2000s is more reliable than this e1200 router and that's just ABSURD, Cisco. Get your freaking act together and stop wasting people's money. Because all over the internet are people saying that this router does not work. Release a firmware to fix this instead of wasting people's time - this is not our issue, it's yours!

I mean that the router disconnects all computers connected to it wirelessly in the house - no matter where the computer is - fairly frequently. The connection icon in the systray either has a yellow asterisk (no connections available) or a yellow triangle with exclaimation point (connected but no internet).  I'm using Windows 7. But this happens on the other computers too - an XP box, two vista boxes (one laptop, one desktop), an ipad, and a blackberry. None of these devices had a problem connecting to the previous router.  This isn't a problem with my network, nor with my computers. The problem is with this router. • WRT160N need to expand range....

Hi i have a WRT160N router, 2 floors below the computer im on now, is there anything i can buy to boost the wireless N signal up to the WUSB300N (usb adapter) for my old wireless-G network i use to use the WRE54G. (wireless-g expander) but i dont think there is such a thing for wireless-N.. what can i do?..

Try getting the wireless access point WAP54G in order to increase the network or boost the wireless signal...Also, for the N-series router & adapter open the setup page of router using 192.168.1.1 then put in the password as admin...all you need to do is do the wireless settings such as Radio Band Frequency to Standard 20 MHZ frequency, channel to 11.
Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Frag
    thres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous Internet
Requests & it will definately work!!!

  • Location of ONT, PSU/battery, Router, STB, phone adapter

I am intending to convert from TimeWarner cable TV/internet and regular landline phone to FIOS triple essentials.  A couple weeks ago an installer came to string the fiber from the pole to the roof eve.  I talked to him and understood that the ONT would go under the eve near where the existing phone lightning surge arrestor and TV/internet cable splitter are now located.  Outputs from the ONT would connect directly into the phone wires, the TV cable, and the cable to the computer (modem) router which are all grouped right there under the eve.  The only additional wiring would need to be from the PSU/battery to the ONT.
A different installer came to my house yesterday to put in the FIOS equipment and make the connections.  He said he needed to put the ONT within 12 ft of the electric utility meter and run his own grounding wire to the ONT because the existing grounding wire for the existing surge arrestor and CableTV was too long (it is about 30 ft).  He said the existing grounding wire did not comply with newer changes to building code.  I won't argue with that, but it caused a problem because he wanted to also put the PSU/battery near the ONT.  The only nearby AC outlet was thru the wall into the formal living room where the PSU/battery would be located.  Wife, and I, rejected that.  The installers only alternative proposal was to have me, at my expense, hire an electrician to mount an exterior weatherproof box near the AC meter and run conduit/wires from the breaker/meter box to this new box.  The new box needs to be large enough to contain an AC outlet and the PSU/battery (14" x 10" x 3.5").  I estimate this would be a several hundred $$ expense, which I really don't care to spend.  Also, the location of this box on the outside wall is in direct afternoon sun where temperatures would get very hot.  This is not good for the PSU electronics nor for the battery (which I understand is my problem to replace when it fails).
    So, my questions are:
What is the maximum distance allowable between the ONT and the PSU/battery?
What type of wiring (gauge, voltage rating, number of conductors, etc) is needed to connect the ONT to the PSU/battery?
There is an indoor broom closet about 18 ft from the utility meter.  If the PSU/battery is put in this closet, it would be easy to run low voltage wires thru the attic and thru the outside wall to the ONT under the eve near the AC meter.  If the installer did not sign-up to do attic wiring then I would be willing to do this myself.  It sure beats hiring an electrician to install an outdoor box.  The outdoor box would probably also need a building permit, whereas the low voltage wiring would not.
The above described trouble also got me thinking about other installation issues:
How does the phone wiring get 48Vdc bias?  Does this come from the PSU/battery via the ONT, and delivered to tip-ring wiring out of the ONT?
Does the TV signal come out of the ONT, via coax cable and connect directly into the RG59 house cabling and splitters from multiple TVs?
A SetTopBox goes at the other end of this coax, near the main TV in the family room, right?  Does the STB also need a cat5 cable to it?
Do I need to rent another STB at the TV in the bedroom?  I've heard that there are simple converter boxes that let you use the TV's own tuner to select channel.  True?
Does the STB have an output for FM radio antenna connection, or do I get the music channels directly from the STB via audio band RCA cables?
Does computer (internet data) connect to the ONT or to the STB?  This is cat5, right?  Internet used to travel via coax from the eve to a cable modem in the home office.  Will the installer replace that coax with cat5?
Does the new FIOS router have at least 3 RJ45 ports (for other computers, X-box/Playstation) as well as wireless for laptops?
Can the new FIOS router also act as a hub for home network data/printer sharing?
Are there interconnect diagrams available anywhere on the Verizon website (or other sites) that can  help me understand?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer any of my questions.

FIOS provides phone service by providing POTS Emulation.  On my installation all of the internal phones ring just fine so I am assuming that the ONT is providing the necesssary voltage, A single COAX Connection comes out of the ONT and goes to a splitter which will then connect to your houses COAX Wiring.  This contains TV Information as well as the Default Data Connection for your Router (Can be changed to CAT5). TVs with a QAM Tuner can receive Local Channels and Music Channels without a STB.  If you require any addition channels, Guide Information, PPV, On-Demmand, or any other FIOS Services you will require a STB.  There is a Digital Adapter that will receive SD Channels, but nothing else.
No FM Radio Connection.  The STB receives the music channels just like other tv channels. Router (Computer Data) connects to the ONT via COAX by Default.  It can be provisioned to use CAT5 if needed and if you have pre run the wiring from the ONT to your Router Location. The Router has 4 RJ45 Port for Hardwired Connections and Wireless G Connectivity. The Router will allow all of the devices that connect thru it to be part of your home network.  You can not attach a printer or external hard drive to the router.  You can however use a NAS. There are many different ways, each with their own pros and cons, to configure the router or to use multiple routers.  Additional infomation can be found here:

  • Does the Xbox 360 wireless adapter even work with the WRT54G wireless router?!!? If so, how???

I just bought a WRT54G wireless router (Ver 8.0; firmware updated to latest).  I have successfully connected my wireless laptop using WEP security, but I'm at wits end trying to get the Xbox 360 wireless adapter to work.  (It worked just fine with my Netgear router until that router recently died.)
When I do the "Test Media Connection" routine (you XBox 360 users know what I'm referring to), the Xbox immediately recognizes the Network Adapter and indicates that it is connected to the Wireless Network, but it inevitably fails the next step in the process:  IP Address.  I have the set-up for the IP address to be assigned automatically by the router (which is set for  DHCP Server enabled).
I have gone around the mountain innumerable times myself and then with well-meaning friends who say try this, try that, try this, try that.  I've had to re-establish my laptop set-up so many times I wanna scream!
Are the Xbox 360 wireless adapter and the WRT54G even compatible?  If so, what am I missing here?  I'm not too technical and obviously in over my head, but this ought not be that hard.
Please, please do NOT respond unless you KNOW the answer!  I don't mean to be curt, but I'm over / past "suggestions to try."
Thank you VERY much for your time and consideration if you can help me.

I don't think that the X-BOX adapter is not compatible to wireless rotuer .... there are few settings you can try on the router ... Access router setup page ... Please click on the tab "Application and gaming" and click on sub tab "Port range forwarding" 1) On the first line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box type in 88, in end box type in 88, in protocol keep it both, in ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box. 2) On the second line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box type in 3074, in end box type in 3074, in protocol keep it both, in ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box. 3) Now save the settings 4) Once you return to the setup page, click on the tab "Administration" and disable the UPNP and save the settings. 5) Now assign the given ip address on your xbox ip address :- 192.168.1.20 subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0 default gateway :- 192.168.1.1 Please assign the dns address on the xbox primary dns :- 4.2.2.2 secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1 6) Please try to test your xbox live. Hope it works ...

  • Sender SMTP Adapter / Content Based Routing / Mapping of an attachement

    Hi all,
I'm still working on my SMTP --> PI --> Proxy scenario (asynchronous). I've tried several different properties of my sender communication channel (type = mail), but I didn't find the correct configuration. Hopefully it exists.
    I'm working with PI 7.0 SP10.
I get an inbound message via Mail using sender SOAP Adapter. The message payload itself is an attachement. Now I'd like to do the following:
    a) Content Based Routing in Receiver Determination based on the message subject
    b) Mapping of the Attachement XML message to my inbound proxy interface
Now, trying to do so, I didn't get it work. When I use XIPAYLOAD with keep attachements, I get two attachements in my inbound message (one in XI mail package format having the subject within, one with the IDoc structure I'd like to map). How can I assign the second attachement to be used for my message mapping?
When I use XIALL instead of XIPAYLOAD, I think the mapping will work but my subject for content based routing will be lost, right? That one I didn't get running because of another failure, so I don't know the exact behaviour of the adapter for that configuration.
Anybody out there who know the correct configuration for the sender mail adapter for my small scenario above?
    BR
    Holger

    Hi Stefan,
sorry for misunderstanding, for sure I'm using the mail adapter, not the SOAP Adapter. I'm actually on the same direction. I'm using XIPAYLOAD as message protocoll (having the attachement as the content for the mapping --> correct). Furthermore I've also found the predefined context objects for the content based routing receiver determination.
What I missed was setting the following properties in the communication channel:
To store adapter attributes in the message header of the XI message, set the Set Adapter-Specific Message Attributes indicator.
The following attributes are added to the XI message header if the sender makes them available, and if the Variable Transport Binding indicator is set.
    Now it's working

  • Having Trouble Connecting To Xbox Live using my router and wireless adapter.

Okay, so this is kinda long but I'll try and speed through. Recently I moved from my old place to a newer place (larger) and before, my old spot worked perfectly, no troubles. Now, eversince i got my internet cable service re-hooked up I've had problems. My internet is fine, that's not the problem. It's my xbox live for my 360. My cable guy pretty much set up my living room with the main router and not my studio office which I keep my 360 in. Instead he told me it would be much easier to just go out and buy a wireless adapter for my PC to recieve the signal from my living room off the main family computer. Well, went out and bought a $80.00 wireless adapter top of the line and it works perfectly, I get the internet really fast. Problem is, my 360 will not connect now. It always says DNS failed. Well here's the problem. I have a Linksys router in my studio office that sits on top of my PC that i have connected to the ethernet of my PC, then in the 2nd or 1st port i have my 360ethernet wire connected to my xbox360. Still it says DNS failed. Shouldn't my router be getting the signal from my Wireless adapter that it's receiving from the living room? It's connected through the same computer yet it doesnt connect. It finds my I address, and it finds the network adapter yet it always fails my DNS. I've tried evern switching the xbox360 ethernet to the main ethernet port on my pc and that just makes me fail the IP address test. I need help guys. My wireless adapter for the pc is a Belkin but my router is a linksys and not sure if the 360 just doesnt recognize it or not. Is there settings I'm missing or something? Please help!!!
    The Burninator...

On your 360 if u getting an error msg DNS failed, you can login to your router setup page and go to status tab, not the Static DNS1 and DNS2 numbers and u can give a static dns to your 360. its will resolve ur issue.
