Router blocks SIP ACK - Why?

I have a new WRT610N.  I also have a new SIP phone device for my PC.  If I do not have my router in the path, I can call in and out successfully.  When I put the router in the path, if I call out, no problems however when a call comes in, the call drops in 30 seconds.  Using Wireshark, I have determined that the router is not allowing a SIP ACK back to the PC which is required to complete the SIP setup.  All other SIP packets (Invite for example) make it through.  Only the ACK is blocked.  I am aware of a firewall feature that blocks SIP ACKs to prevent a denial of service attack against a SIP server, but I am only trying to pass a single SIP ACK to my phone device.  Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Had a similar problem with my VoIP system. I first had a WRT54GC router and a VoIP phone behind that, worked without problems. Upgraded to a WRT610N router and my VoIP phone wouldn't register anymore.
Reading on here the hint that it could be a problem with the SIP ACK being blocked I researched a bit and found out that the router has a function called "Port Triggering" that is exactly designed to deal with that. It will monitor outgoing connections and allow incoming connections from same IP address.
So all I did is go to "Applications and Gaming" -> "Port Range Triggering" and put a new entry as follows:
SIP Trigger Range: 5060 - 5060 Forward Range: 5060-5060
Enabled it and the problem was solved, my VoIP phone works without a problem!

  • Router Blocking a Website

So a few days ago my router seems to have blocked me from visiting a website. www.tfaw.com. I have tried everything calling linksys completly reseting my router updating firmware. Making sure everything is set correctly. Changing the MTU to 1400 and lower. Still nothing. Called my service provider who walked through fixes in internet options making sure it wasnt something blocking the site. It looks like this issue is fairly uncommon but I have seen people having the same issues as in this forum posts.
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/webmaster/3781120.htm
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/router-blocking-websites/td-p/293627
However nobody seems to be able to offer any advice that actually fixes the problem. I feel like im going round and round not finding an actual reason why im having access blocked from the site.
I tried connecting through a proxy and it let me access the website from this computer. I know it has to have something to do with my network/router, I can access the site on both of my phones and as soon as I turn on my wireless on the phones it does not allow me access to the website.
Does anyone know why this might be happening?? As I can tell nobody has actually been able to tell anyone why or how to fix this issue
    Please Help!

  • Local router blocking incoming remote assistance request

I have a user who recently moved. they received new equipment from their ISP. I use to be able to make remote assistance connections to their computer using a popular system center configuration manager remote tool. Now i can't get past the handshake when i try to connect. If he has split tunneling enabled would the new router block incoming traffic? I know by default most of the router's firewall will block all incoming traffic (if enabled). does this apply to VPN traffic?

Hi, if the VPN terminates on an IOS router, then the split tunneling does not "block" anything. It simply decides which traffic is sent through the tunnel and which traffic is sent in clear text (as in Internet traffic).
If the router has ACLs on the outside interface, that could be blocking the traffic (even VPN traffic).
Make sure the desired traffic is part of the split tunneling rule and that if there's an ACL, it allows the traffic to pass.

  • Internet connection via Airport Extreme/router thats not working, why?

I have been having problems with the internet connection via Airport Extreme which I find it a bit unusual and its still driving me nuts! This is what happened:
I have lost my internet connection last Sunday evening upon my return from a weekend away from home. The last time I have used the internet connection on my macbook was the previous Friday morning. Prior to the apparent disconnection on Sunday, I have always used my internet connection wirelessly through Airport Extreme (that is connected via ethernet cable to the NETGEAR DG834v2 ADSL modem which had worked beautifully until the problem arose on my return). This wireless internet connection allowed me to surf the internet anywhere in my home.
However, upon the successful re-connection to the internet via the modem router, I have discovered several new problems. I have tried to set up the internet connection wirelessly again but instead the following happened:
    1. Router (Netgear) drops ADSL connection and cannot reconnect when connected to airport via Ethernet. (which is the case when using airport wireless).
    2. Router connects to ADSL fine when computer is connected to it via Ethernet. (However, router disconnects when magsafe power adapter is taken out for some inexplicable reason!)
    3. Router connects to ADSL fine when nothing is connected to the router (ie. No Ethernet connections)
    4. Router connects to ADSL fine when connected to airport via Ethernet and computer is connected to airport via Ethernet.
So from the above, I cannot connect to the internet properly whether wirelessly or not so I suspect it could be faulty router or could it be airport extreme? I have asked my ISP for an explanation and all they have said is that it cannot be the mis-configuration but could be to do with the power adaptors or the way plugs are set up and suggested I take out all the power plugs (and power surge protector) out to switch everything off, the macbook, router, printer and airport extreme. However, when I have re-plugged them all back in, the problems I have described above still persists!
Would appreciate any help if anyone here recognises why this is the case and what seems to be the cause of this. If so, what should I do? Though I have written back to my ISP again yesterday for more help so im waiting to hear from them...
    Thanks

  • My Linksys router blocked me

I had my network running smoothly until I connected a new HP photo printer to my vista desktop computer wirelessly... Now my router is telling me that my own desktop PC with the printer connected is an intruder - & it's blocked it from the network.. How can I unblock my computer?? I'm at my wits end with it.

Well, before you run out and do that, try reseting the router and configuring it manually.  Press and hold the reset button in back for 30 seconds and release.  Wait 10 seconds and now power cycle the router.  Connect via browser to 192.168.1.1 with the username blank password admin.

  • Router blocking Wi-Fi sync for Itunes-iPhone 4

Me router is blocking the Wi-Fi sync to itunes. Port TCP 123,3689 and UDP 123,5353,  have benn opened. Re-boot done on all (router, computer, etc). Still blocking Wi-Fi to Iphone 4.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Now we are getting somewhere.
UPNP ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Plug_and_Play) should not be used along with manual port forwarding.
Describe the exact port forwarding you did, and how you determined the iPhone's IP address, which since you did not statically assign the IP in the static IP range on the router, will not remain the same as your iPhone logs in and out of the wiFi, so your port forward will eventually wind up going nowhere.
My advice, disable any port forwards, ensure UPNP is active, then look to your PC for it's firewall blocking the incoming sync request from the iPhone. What is the PC OS?

  • CVP: using the Gatekeeper and the SIP Proxy, why? VXML gateway and the ingress gateway communication?

    Hi All;
I am actually keep asking with my self, why to use gatekeeper or SIP proxy when deploying the CVP solution, why not to use the Call Manager? Is it because that the concept built on SIP and H323 so call manager can not handle these kind of operations as call manager is supporting MGCP?
From the other side, what kind of trunk or protocol of communication method is used between the ingress gateway and the VXML browser?
    Any advise?
    Regards
    Bilal

The main reason is not all who deployed ISN/CVP in the past use Call Manager as the PBX.
CVP is a powerful solution that covers many deployment scenarios. Its ability to integrate with legacy switches has been very important in the past, and although as we move forward, these types of deployments will probably become fewer, the independence of CVP on Call Manager remains a cornerstone of the design.
I'm glad it was built that way. Look at some of the other deployment models (like Call Director) in the CVP Guide.
It's not because Call Manager supports MGCP - you don't need to have any MGCP gateways in your Call Manager deployment. You could have all H.323 gateways and manage the dial plan on the gateways with a gatekeeper. Or use SIP.
The ingress gateway does not talk to the VXML server - the VXML gateway does.
In a branch office design, these are one and the same; but that's not the fundamental architecture. The IOS on the VXML gateway runs a voice browser (I guess you could call this a VXML browser). It uses HTTP to send and receive information (VXML documents) from the VXML server - whether this be the CVP Call Server or an external VXML server (like what was brought in-house with the Audium acqusition - the Cisco CVP VXML Server).

  • Wifi router blocks access after some time.

So i have router lynksys WRT120N  and the latest 1.0.0.7 firmware. And the problem occured frequently. I'll explain for example what happened yesterday.
At about 13.00 i went out, wifi was working okay. At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. The only thing that i could figure it out is to reset the router. I checked the settings, and there was no access policy e.g. time based access blocking.
    any ideas?
    cheers

    You're welcome.

  • British Telecom BT 220v router blocking incoming http access ?

(Partly in response to Neil's suggested solution to my incoming traffic problem, in thread 'Wake when the modem detects a ring ...' )
I am assured by my ISP (BT or British Telecom: previously able to give good advice on my non-Windoze, non-Explorer, non-USB configuration, so stuck with them) that there is no firewall on my BT 220V router and that there is no blocking or filtering of incoming traffic by BT for domestic (or business) customers.
However, inspection of the router configuration and BT's own Quick Start guide reveals that IP filtering can indeed be set up, the default appearing to be that filtering is Enabled for inbound traffic.
The latest BT tech-help person ensured me that these are 'factory settings' which cannot be changed (and indeed I can't and don't want to), but did not know what they do. No doubt they are for security & firewall purposes: anyone know what kind of traffic they filter, and has anyone had this problem (no external access to shared folders or personal web site folders, timeouts rather than 404 errors) with a 220v ?
I've been round every other possible explanation and this is all that is left. Completely stuck otherwise.

  • RV016 Router Blocking Wireless Reception

We cannot access our wireless modem because the Cisco router is blocking it.  When I try to access the router through a browser I get a message that the router is blocking access.  HELP!!

Okay, I just double checked and the Westell router is plugged into the Internet port of the RV016 router.  The RV016 is plugged into the ethernet port on the server computer.   We get internet fine on all the computers, but we do not have wireless access for other machines.  The Westell router has wireless.  The wireless light is not on.  I called CenturyLink who work with the Westell router and they told me it is the Cisco router that is stopping the wireless.  My Cisco router is over a year old, so here I am.
The RV016 IP address is:  192.168.2.100.
I can't get the computer to find the wireless connection.  When I originally set up the RV016, I didn't activate a wireless connection.  I wish I would have!

  • FIOS Router blocking MMS but not SMS

I have an Actiontec MI424WR Rev. I wireless router. All firmware has been upgraded on the router. I am unable to send or receive pictures (MMS) over WIFI from my iPad, iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S4. The Apple devices have been updated to iOS 7.0.4 and the S4 was recently updated to Android 4.3. I can send and receive text messages (SMS) from these devices over WIFI. And, of course, I can send and receive both SMS and MMS messages over cellular 3G and 4G networks from the iPhone and S4. I attempted to port forward certain ports on the router specifice for iMessage (per an Apple forum) for the iPad and iPhone. These include ports 80 (TCP), 443 (TCP) and 5223 (TCP). After powering down the devices and router and rebooting, I was still unable to send or receive MMS over WIFI with those devices. I haven't tried any port forwarding for the S4 but I think it's safe to assume that I will encounter the same issues with that device since it did not work for the Apple devices. BTW, no other problems arise with Facetime, Netflix or other streaming services, only pictures via messaging over WIFI.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I use android kit kat, and when over wifi my contacts + app specifically tells me I can't retrieve over wifi.
    not that it's being blocked.
Can you send/receive text messages over wifi? help end this debate
A guy I work with keeps arguing with me that you can't send text messages over wifi so setting my phone on wifi when at home to receive text messages and e-mails is pointless since it doesn't work.
Can someone please tell me if this is true or not?
The reason I use wifi is because my cell phone connection is crappy when at my house.
