Router needed?

I have an Airport Extreme inside my desktop and I want to be able to go on the net and control my Itunes with REMOTE app via my Ipod Touch 2nd gen. Do I need a router? Both items see the network I've created but they don't seem to be able to interact, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

The remote app requires both to be on the same network and home sharing to be enabled, you will need the physical remote to set this up. You can purchase a replacement through Apple.

Is an AppleTV and a Wireless Router Needed for Mirroring from a desktop monitor to an HDTV?

    It is one way.
You can also use a mini Display Port to HDMI adapter, and an HDMI cable. A Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter works too.
You might be able to get away with an Apple TV and no WiFi router, if you use an Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Apple TV (never tried it, but it should work in theory).
You may even be able to use an adhoc network with an Apple TV and no WiFi router, but I think the setup would be annoying each time you wanted to mirror and you would give up internt access while the adhoc network was active.

The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP
If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol.  If not, the airprint won't work.

Your iMac does have wireless capability. It does need, however, some wireless network in order to connect to the Internet. It sounds like there are several networks in your area, including one Belkin router that is not encrypted and several other networks that are. I presume that you would know if the Belkin one is yours, and you would have mentioned it. Do not use someone else's network without their permission. In some jurisdictions it is illegal, in others it is merely foolish.
It is impossible to know what Xfinity has given you. Possibly it is only a cable modem, or perhaps it has a router built in. Call them and ask them. If it has a router built in, get them to help you set it up. Note that some tech support people for Internet service providers will resist working with Macs. Be persistent, it is not that different.
If they did not provide a router, you will need to get one. Apple makes the AirPort Extreme base station, the AirPort Express base station and the Time Capsule. Other companies have their own. Be sure you get one that is up to date and has 802.11n capabilities (for the highest speed) and go on from there.
    Best of luck.

  • Cisco ASA - 2 Site to Site routes needed for failover -Is possible?

3 physical sites. 2 ASA 5510 (routing mode_). 3rd site is in between ASA sites. 2 different connections. Depending on which link goes down, a certain set of Network Lists for Site to Site VPN is needed to place the 3rd site subnets where they belong depending on which link dies. The tunnels all work. Here is my wonder: Can I automate this somehow in my environment (all Cisco 3750/3560/2960) so that I can leave both tunnels in place so that if either link dies, the appropriate tunnel is picked for failover? Running 8.03 code on ASA. Using EIGRP (love that protocol). Anyone have any ideas?

You can implement failover or loadbalancing . Use this configuration examples for your configurations.

  • Automatic purchase requisition created from routing needs to be have material no. information in it.

    Hello Experts,
There are some operations in my routing where external service , from an outside vendor shall be required.
We are doing this by using a particular control key PP02, for this routing, so that purchase requisition is created automatically, when the production order is created.
Through customization, I have also been able to make the setting so that instead of single, collective requisition gets  created for the entire order. The requisition that is getting created is a service requisition and can be later converted to a Purchase order.
Requirement :-  I need to enter material information in this requisition automatically. By material, I mean the material no. and preferably qty of the material,  which will have to be sent out to the external vendor for his services.
How can I achieve this, in SAP?
    Regards
    P.R

    Hello Caetano,
Right now we are not considering best practices , so not considering BADI implementation as such.
So far I have done the following:
I created a subcontracting purchasing info record for the material and a vendor.
Then, I have created a routing for the material and the operation which expects to go for external processing, I have used control key YBP2 (tried with PP02) in it.
I have assigned the subcontracting PIR under the external processing section of this operation in the routing.
My Production version combines the BOM and routing in the material master.
Now ,,when I try to create the production order, I get the following errors in succession:
Control key YBP2: Maintain external processing data
    Message no. CO558
    Diagnosis
The control key specifies that the operation is processed externally. However, not all data relevant to external processing has been maintained.
respond by entering the material group where the cursor is.
Then I get the following error.
Material class differs from material class  from info record
    Message no. 06354
    Diagnosis
The material class or material group of the info record differs from that of the item.
I checked in the material master and the material group there is same as the material group in the info record . Field name is MATKL.
What material class is it talking about?
I cannot get past this error and therefore cannot complete the order creation.

  • How to fix a router needs to be reset every morning?

I just purchased a new WRT54G V8.0. I upgraded to 8.0.0.2 and set up my network. I have 3 wireless devices and one wired device. The wireless devices are the Desktop, the Laptop, and the Wii console. The wired device is the Xbox.
My problem is this... The network works perfectly all day, no problems what so ever except every morning the router has to be reset and I can't figure out why. Any ideas on how to fix this??
Wireless is set up for DHCP using WAP-PSK with TKIP auth and MAC adress filtering. Everything connects and work fine throughout the day but every morning it needs to be reset.
    Thanks.
Message Edited by DaveW on 08-24-2007 08:46 AM

already tried that. the problem is that the router won't assign an IP. Even on the wireless machines, the router shows up as available. I can even connect to it, the problem is it won't assign an IP. I've reset the preferences for the wireless connection, including the WAP key then attempted to recconect. I still couldn't get an IP.
This morning I just reset the router without playing with any settings on the computers. After resetting the router I attempted to reconnect. It asked me to enter the WAP key again, so I did and it connects perfectly.
It's not a huge problem I suppose... but it's really annoying to have to reset the router every morning.

  • Router Needed Urgently

I need a router for my office.
    This is the scenario.
we are havinh 80-100 wired pc's connected to 2 switches and hub
Model are dlink dse-924dx and dlink ds 1024d
    and one airlink switch.
    I have a 2mbps braodband connection.
I need a router which i will be connectiong to the switch so that all the 80-100 wired pc canuse the internet.
please help me out in finding a appropriate roueter thats supports 80-100 wired pc's via switch and 10-15 wireless clients.
im just concerned if WRT serireslinksys routers will take the load of 80-100 wired pc via a switch.
Hope to hear from you soon
    Thanks and Regards

Are you using any application over the internet or a VPN?  If all you need is just the internet access and the office is pretty snall then anyone of the WRT series wireless routers will work.  If you are going to run and services over the internet then I would go with a more business class router.  You have have to add a range extender to cover the whole office for the wireless access.

  • Does the router need a desktop in order to work?

I have 2 computers in my house, laptop and desktop. I had my FIOS router connected to my desktop upstairs and the desktop had just recently completely broke and now the laptop finds the FIOS router wi-fi but it can't connect properly.
Any information for me on this topic? Do I need to buy a new desktop or can I just have the router sending a signal to my lappy?
    Thanks in advance everyone.

what operating system do you have?
There are a couple of things you should probably do to get connected.
    1. you should delete the wireless profile for this connection and start fresh.
    and then
    2. you should attempt to connect on each channel.   directions to change the channels are below.
change the wireless signal.  you can do that in the router.   open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1
user name is admin.  and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it.
}Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security.   then go to option 3 which is channel
1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.
So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply.,
after you hit apply,  test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6,     test it out.  and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.
Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File.  It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.

  • Does this new, store-bought wi-fi router need to be returned to store?

Help.  My new, store-bought Airport Extreme router can't detect my Internet service, nor my USB computer.
I'm trying to set up a wi-fi home network.
My computer's ethernet card is not wi-fi; however, I have successfully installed and enabled a USB wi-fi plug-in and my computer is wi-fi capable.
When the output from my cable modem is plugged into my ethernet card socket, I have internet.
When my printer is connected by USB to a USB port on back of my computer, my printer works fine.
When I plug the output from my cable modem into the Airport Extreme's WAN socket, however, I get message that no Internet service is available.
When I plug my printer's USB cable into the Airport Extreme's USB socket, I get message saying my no printer is detected.
In troubleshooting, I find that a wi-fi network is established and that the signal is very strong.
The light on the face of the Airport Extreme continually blinks yellow.
Is this just a faulty router?  Do I just need to return it to the store?

At this point I would recommend that start by performing a complete power recycle of your networking hardware to verify that you can get the new Extreme to gain Internet access from your modem. Please post back your results.

  • MI424WR (Rev. F) - Wireless Broadband Router - Need Rev G for NAS

I want to put a Buffalo NAS storage device on the USB port on the MI424WR (Rev. F) - Wireless Broadband Router, but Actiontec says a firmware upgrade to Rev G is needed to do this. If I do the upgrade (will it even allow it?) will I trash my router such that it won't work (and I may not be able to restore it to Rev F)? Anyone have any experience attempting this?

    davef wrote:
Not sure what you mean by "not enabled". I use this USB port on the router to charge my EVO smartphone.
There is indeed power on the USB port, so charging USB devices does work.
What I meant by "not enabled", is that there is no firmware support of any kind.
    No mass storage driver, etc.

  • Airport router needs to have a settings check because videos keep freezing up.  How to do

Hi, my airport router settings are not correct.  I can not play any kind of online videos without them freezing up.  What do I do?  what settings need to be changed and how?

It appears that you currently do not have enough bandwidth to play these videos. Was this working before and the streaming issue just started or have you never been able to get videos from the Internet successfully?
What is the model of your AirPort base station? Does it connect directly to a broadband Internet modem or to another router? How are you trying to play these streams: Apple TV, Mac or PC, or to an Internet-ready HDTV?
