Router not connecting
I have a wrt54g that i cannot get to see my motorola dsl modem. I have a PPPoE connection with the login and password set, local ip is 192.168.1.1, DHCP is set to Enabled, wireless mode is Mixed, channel is set to 11, WPA Algorithms is TKIP+AES. The login status is Disconnected, the IP, Subnet, Default Gateway are all 0.0.0.0 and there is no DNS. What do I need to do to get these connected?
Thanks, Keith
As you ISP is an DSL Provider. Most of the DSL Routers have 2 Features on their Modem. DSL Modem works on DHCP Mode or on PPPoE Mode.
As of now you have already Setup your Router in PPPoE Mode are you getting any error message on the Status Tab. If not then Unplug the Power from the Router and the Modem, Wait for 30seconds and plug the power to the Modem first wait till all the lights are lid, then you can plug the power to the Linksys router. Now check if you are able to go online or else check on the Status Tab of your Router are you getting any IP address.
Now your Modem and Router is already Connected to each other, setup your Router to "Automatic Configuration DHCP" and change the LAN IP of the Linksys Router to 192.168.2.1 and click on Save Settings. Unplug the Power from the Router and the Modem, Wait for 30seconds and plug the power to the Modem first wait till all the lights are lid, then you can plug the power to the Linksys router. Now check if you are able to go online.

Trouble with VPN and Verizon MI424WR router - not connecting to company intranet
I need to connect to my work intranet and via VPN. There was no problem accessing both when I had Verizon DSL. Since I switched to FIOS, I can access email via VPN but not my Company's internet and various internal company websites. I saw a previous forum with a similar problem using the Actiontec router, but wanted to make sure I tried a correct fix for my router. My router is connected via both Coax ad Ethernet to the ONT since I signed up for FIOS internet first and then added TV later. I don't know if both are active. I have a spare Linksys wireless G router I can add to the network if needed. My router firmware is 20.10.7.
Solved!
Go to Solution. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I could not see how the VPN software was the culprit since it worked at various hotels, Panera bread ... but decided to try to uninstall and re-install the latest version. Viola, I am now working. I plan to leave the linksys router in the system since the speed is significantly faster.

TS1398 How to connect iPad to private router not connected to the internet?
I have an iPad 2 running iOS6.1 that will not connect to my Asus RT-AC66R router when the router is not connected to the internet. The message I get on my iPad is "The cable for ethernet is not plugged in". This also happens with my iPod gen 5.
I'm trying to control Philips Hue bulbs with their Zigbee bridge connected to the router, but I do not want a connection to the internet. The Hue app works with an Android phone and an older iPhone 4 running an older iOS version without the router connected to the internet. The newer iOS6 seems to want to have access to the internet, but having internet access should not be required for this application.
If I do connect the router to the internet, the Hue app works on my iPad2 and it continues to work for a couple of minutes after I disconnect the internet cable. Then I get the message "The cable for ethernet is not plugged in" again. I'm doing this at work where I'm not supposed to connect the router to the work network cable, else it wouldn't be an issue.mrogers641 wrote:
How can I install Mavericks on a Mac that is not connected to the internet? Is there a way to copy OS 10.9 to a USB drive an then install it?
Log in to another computer, family's or friend's, and download it to a USB drive, using YOUR OWN Apple ID and then install it onto your Mac. Preferably you could use someone else's WiFi connection to directly download and install on your Mac,

New router not connecting to C7280 All-In-One Printer
I just had to install a new router. Now the printer which has an ethernet cable is not working. I need to change the IP Address manually (I think). Please walk me through the process.
In this link (message 4) I describe step-by-step instructions on how to setup a static IP but you may just want to go into the menu of the printer and restore network defaults first and see if will automatically connect after that. You may also have to use a USB cord (some models differ in their setup process).
Let me know if that works or not. Good luck!

DSL modem and Wireless G router not connecting.
Alright this one is weird for me. Two days ago I got a Wireless-G CISCO router. Or a WRT54G2 V 1.5 model. Now I set it up on my XP desktop and at first it seemed fine. I tried to get onto the internet and it wouldn't go. Then I tried to connect my laptop to the router and it succeeded, but the router couldn't connect to the internet.
After calling tec they told me that I need to fully bridge my modem. I'll list the specs down there later. Anyway I wen't back to my laptop, which has windows 7, and checked the router but it has a red X to the SSID and says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." And the other SSID's around me are fine. Let's not worry about my laptop though. Back to the desktop I learned that for whatever reason my address is 192.168.2.1 and that my modem needs to be fully bridged.
I got the internet to work, but it keeps cutting out. The problem is that the IP adress goes from 192. bla bla to 99. bla bla. It would do this every time I re-cycled the router. It would start at the 192. and give me perfect internet. Then it would switch IP after 30 secounds and go to the 99. which I couldn't do anything online. So do I have to bridge?
Router: Linksys WRT54G2 V1.5
Modem- siemens DSL speedstream 4100
Host computer- XP professionalOh and would there be a chance the router and modem are all together not compatible?

Officejet 6500 and wireless router not connecting
I just purchased an Officejet 6500 and trouble trying to connect it to my wireless router. Each time I try to connect the printer by wireless it locks up. The power button is not lit, but the screen is lit with no text. At this stage I cannot shut it down or get it operating again. I'm running Vista Business 64-bit and the router is a 2wire 1800HG through AT&T. It runs fine with a usb connection.
Thanks in advance. John
This question was solved.
View Solution.I think you've just run into a known problem with some HP network printers with 2WIRE AT&T DSL routers.
We've identified the problem and will deploy an update sometime in the future. Until then, the work around is to assign a static IP address to the printer. Here's one way to do this:
Unplug he telephone line from the 2WIRE router
Turn the power off on the 2WIRE router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the 2WIRE device (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). The printer will not crash as long as the telephone line is disconnected from the 2WIRE device.
From the Officejet's front panel, access the "Advanced Setup" menu under "Network"
Select "IP Settings", acknowledge the warning and select "Manual IP Address"
Select "IP Address" and change the last IP address group (octet) to something higher or lower. Specifically for your 2WIRE router, select 192.168.0.60.
Press Ok and plug in the telephone line into the 2WIRE router.
Steps 4, 5 and 6 can be done from the printer's internal web page (under the Network tab) and it might be easier than the front panel on the 6500. To get to the internal web page, you browse to the printer's IP address which you can find by printing the Network Configuration.

My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.
I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!
See if this helps.

I worked for HP but now I'm retired! -
I recently purchased an iPhone 5c and for some unknown reason I can't connect to my wireless router's network at home. I've tried establishing a seperate IP address, manually adding the iPhone device, and even spent an hour with Centurylink's IT support and they couldn't figure it out. They said it was an iPhone error. I had an iPhone 3 about 1 1/2 years ago that had the same problem. I ended up getting rid of the phone because I couldn't solve this problem before. I thought a newer phone would not have the same problem.
My phone shows that I'm connected to my home internet, but when I open up network information for my home internet there is no IP Address listed. Safari and my other apps also state that I'm not connected to the internet. I'm ready to sell my phone back and go to an Android since I didn't have trouble connecting with it before. We also have a Macbook and iPad that both connect to the internet just fine. Please....oh please help.I was having the same problem; I tried all the recommended fixes in the "more like this" and nothing worked, but finally found the answer. New router and can not connect wirelessly
Installed a new router that changed my security from a WEP to a WPA2. I have connected to the printer(7410) through ethernet cable and changed the security settings but the printer will not connect to my router. I am currently printing by ethernet cable hooked directly into the router. When i try to use the printer interface to cinnect to router the only option that comes up is WEP.
Any ideas?
This question was solved.
View Solution. The printer will support WPA, but not WPA2. It may have previously been connected to WEP and is expecting that. Let's reset it:
From the front of hte printer: Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults. Now try the Wireless Setup Wizard from that same Network menu.

My new canon Pixma MX432 printer is not printing. It was printing fine until about ten days ago. I use a Netgear Wireless N router, which is also new. What do I need to do. I get a message when trying to print that says "printer not connected." In addition, my old Gateway laptop will still print fine apparently because it has a cable connection to the printer. Puzzled!
Have you tried rebooting the router? I would unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure you know the password etc. if that doesn't work, try unplugging and rebooting the printer. Good luck!

HP Officejet 8500A Plus will not connect to router.
A couple month ago I had this printer up and running on my network fine. I use a Cradlepoint MBR1200B router with a Verizon wireless aircard. We took the printer out of the office while we were remodeling, we went to go back and hook it up after the remodel was complete. Now it will not connect back to our router. It's weird the printer will connect fine to my other verizon hotspot, but not the cradlepoint router with usb modem. We have an Officejet 6500 upstairs that is connected to the cradlepoint and is working great.
I have tried what seems like everything from resetting the network setttings on the printer to default and tweaking the security on the cradlepoint from WPA2 to WPA/WPA2. Still nothing.
Also when I choose to print a test report after getting the error on the printer it prints out a sheet that says.
"More that one access poiint/wireless rougter has been foun that mathes your wireless network name (SSID). IF this is not inteded, your HP printer may connect to the wrong wireless network. If you cahne your network name you will need to configure the SSID on all wireless devices to match you new newwork SSID."
The only wireless network we have in the house is the cradlepoint router???? We have the hotspot too, but that is not even turned on. Even so the SSID's for them are not even remoteley similar.Hello Fost325,
Take a look at this document, which provides wireless and network troubleshooting scenario's. Please let me know if this helps.
Good luck!

My ipad 2 appears to be connected to the internet(all bars are up in the left hand corner).....yet I cannot connect to the internet(Safari cannot connect open the page because it is not connected to the internet)
I unplugged my router for 30 seconds and restarted my ipad...still nothing
I really don't think it is my service because my laptop works fine...as I am using the internet right now
I only had this ipad for 2 days
Are there any suggestions that can help solve this problem?Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
