Router WRT 150N Freezing Up at High DSL Rates

After upgrading to 6Mb/768kb DSL service, my router is freezing up on regular basis. I had a 3Mb/512kb before and things were OK. The solution is to turn off then turn on the modem/router/computer. My router has the latest firmware. I will appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this problem and was able to find a successful solution to it. Thanks in advance. Garen

Your router should easily handle 6 Mbps.
Here are some possible causes for your problem:
1)  After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since the last firmware upgrade, then please do this now, and see if it corrects your problem.   If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
2) If your modem is rather old, this could be the cause for your problem.  Please state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the WRT150N).
3)  Are you running any peer-to-peer (P2P) programs?  This is a known cause for router slowdowns, freezes, and disconnections.
4)  Connect your computer directly to your modem (not the WRT150N).  Do you still have the same problem?  If so, its not the WRT150N.
5)  Are you running an unsecured wireless network?  If so, perhaps your neighbor is logging into your router and crashing it by running P2P software.

  • HELP!! WRT 150N -- Wii

Hey, i need some help regarding the connection to my wii from my wireless router (wrt 150n). My wii gives me the error code 51332 when try to connect, which means that i am "unable to connect to the internet." my internet everywhere else works. My setup goes like this: PC + WRT150N ))))))))))))))) PC (wireless) Ive tried searching the net but i cant find anything that makes sense to me. All this stuff about mac address and changing my "channel" is confusing and ontop of that i cannot find anywhere to change my wireless settings. Ive tried disabling my firewall, changing my wep/wpa settings and havnt found a solution. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
Try setting your Wii IP to a DMZ IP number. I've got mine in 192.168.0.3 for DMZ and DHCP for a pool of ten ip numbers 192.168.0.4 to 192.168.0.14. That way you can skip a lot of problems for service filtering. Also check DNS addresses and MTU size (mine is 1500).
its kind of a static ip address for ur WII.

  • Bridging an E3000 with a WRT-150N

Is there a walkthrough on how to set up a Client Bridge on the WRT-150N? Will I need to change to a third party firmware? I need to have wireless access at a remote area in a new house and don't want holes in the new walls for unsightly cables. My primary router is a new E3000. My bridge is a WRT-150N (ver. 1.01). RpSr

You'll need 3rd party firmware. Check instructions for 3rd party firmware for details.

  • WRT-150N Not allowing connection?

Hey everyone, I posted this over in LELA too, but I am just trying to figure this one out...
I have a 150N, 2 Dell 1420 Laptops (vista), a Dell 510e Desktop and a WD My Book World Edition NAS Hard Disk attached to the router.
My 510 and the Drive come up without any issue - the first 1420 comes up no problems (LELA installed) - but the 2nd 1420 does not come up consistently. They are set up exactly the same and both have LELA installed.
One thing I did notice is that when LELA was installed on the first 1420, the windows networking icon in the Systray was removed. The second 1420 has the icon still there (LELA icon is there as well).
I'm pretty versed in home networking, but this one has me baffled... I upgraded from a Linksys B series router that worked great, but was not encrypted. This one is set to WPA2-Personal...
OS: VISTA (laptops - wireless) XP (desktop - wired) - ISP: Verizon - WRT-150N Router (WPA2-Personal) and only have a problem connecting consistently with ONE wireless connection...?
    Any thoughts?

I'm able to detect the network (and router) on the first laptop and the desktop (hardwired) but I'm not able to see it on the 2nd laptop. The only difference in the laptops is one is running McAfee and the other is running Trends Micro...
    It's very strange....
When I do a hard reset (unplug the router) it does bring the network back up for the 2nd machine to see, but I lose the network drive on the 1st machine for a few mintues.
More than anything, it's a pain to have to reset to get the 2nd machine to see it. I've been using a B series forever and know the routers pretty well. This one is just baffling to me...

  • V1 vs v1.1 WRT-150N

Does anyone know what the differences are supposed to be between the v1 and 1.1 releases of the WRT-150N? I noticed today that the Linksys technical support pages now had two revisions for this wireless router. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any markings on the packaging or the router than indicates v1 or v1.1. Interestingly, the unit does have a 12/2006 on it which makes me wonder if it was built in December of last year. I suspect that suggests v1.

A router without a version right beside the model number is a version 1.
Anyway here are the differences as per www.linksys.com/downloads
    WRT150N v1
    1.00.5 First release
    WRT150N v1.1
    1.01.2
    1. Fixed the various web interface alignment.
    2. Fixed port forwarding text and GUI changes.
    3. Fixed issue with setup wizard not passing the correct passphrase.
    4. Fixed Start IP Address not working correctly.
    5. Fixed DHCP table sorting fails.
    6. Fixed setup page help file.
    7. Fixed router not supporting space character for Password.
    8. Fixed ping packet size maximum limit in diagnostic page.
    9. Fixed router and wireless stability.
This actually means that your version 1 WRT150N can become a WRT150N v 1.1 when you upgrade the firmware.

  • Unplugging all network devices from Fios router prevents DVR freezing and remote control lock ups.

    All,
I recently had a Verizon tech visit my house due to constant DVR and remote control freezing. TV content was freezing whether it was locally recorded, pulled from another DVR in the house, or On Demand. On a hunch after the tech tested everything and was about to leave, he unplugged my gigabit switch from the Fios router. Lo and behold everything started running perfectly. Since to the tech, the problem was solved, he closed the case and was on his way. The probem is of course I have more devices than the built in router switch provides ports for. My network is compised of an 8 port Netgear gigabit switch downstream from the Fios router with two wireless access points (with their own built in gigbait switches) connecting to the Netgear gigabit switch. There are no loops in the switch topology. I've tried changing out the router, the gigabit switch, removing the wireless acces points individually as well as plugging the access points directly into the Fios router switch (one at a time with no Netgear switch in the middle) and all scenarious cause the DVR/remote control freeezing to come back. The only devices I can plug into the Fios router without causing freezes are PC's....anything with it's own switch essentially brings the network to it's knees. If anyone has an idea how to get my network back in one piece AND make the DVR's/remotes behave, I'd greatly appreciate the help!
    My Fios equipment:

    Specific config:
75/35 Fios connecting via ethernet from ONT. Set-top boxes connect to Fios router coax port via powered splitter.
*All SNR/dB mesasurements taken by the tech from the set-top boxes and router are well within spec.
Fios router provides DHCP addressing. Wireless N access points are configured for roaming with the same SSID and non-overlapping channels. Access points are not providing routing or IP adressing...all layer 3 and up services still provided by Fios router

I am inclined to echo several of the "tns" comments, particularly with respect to your splitter.  My layout is based on a standard 8-port splitter of the type usually supplied in a VZ install.  In addition I do have a ChannelPlus device that functions as a powered splitter, but its use is limited to distribution of secondary TV signals to older analog TVs.  My first point then is that this may be an offender as "tns" has suggested.
In addition, I'd describe your wiring as "non-standard" (red-colored items in the above diagram)  As you're no doubt aware, with 75/35 you don't really need Cat5e from the ONT (your original diagram).  It seems the highest tiers do require it, but in "standard" installations this run is coax directly to an 8-port non-powered splitter (below diagram), then from that splitter via coax to all STBs and CableCards, other TVs, et.), and also to the Actiontec.   Subsequent feeds from the Actiontec to wired devices (including WAPs) are via Ethernet (typically Cat 5e).
In fact I don't immediately see how your STBs get additional services such as On Demand and IMG with the wiring shown in your diagram (perhaps someone can help me out here).  In "standard" installs the Actiontec must be connected via coax to the ONT to provide such services to other network clients.  I don't see that requirement being met here.
For starters I'd recommend that you change your service from WAN Ethernet to WAN coax.  This can easily be accomplished over the telephone.  Then I'd run coax directly from the ONT to the Actiontec as in my revised diagram below (blue-colored items).  If your setup can manage with this arrangement, I think it will help greatly with the "freezing" issue.

Subsequent Note:  You provided additional info while I was composing a response, and I'd  like to offer another comment.  Structured wiring "panels" of the type usually available are pre-configured to provide data, phone and video.  This usually means that one is in certain respects limited by the ideas of the panel designer.  I have what can be called a structured wiring layout, but it really is composed of individual small custom networks for  each service (automation, security, video, data, telco, etc.), configured so that all wiring terminates in "home run" fashion at a central panel (a few details here: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Home-Networking/Cmon-Show-Us-Your-Network/m-p/481733#M765 ).  This layout makes it easier to make adjustments (and there have been quite a few over the intervening years).  I'm thinking that in your case you may have to abandon the powered splitter (presumably) built into the panel in order to avoid your present fix.
Subsequent Subsequent Note:   From your description it seems that you are using more than a single "whole house" DVR to supply programming to other devices.  This is a bit puzzling to me because somewhere along the line I recall reading that only a single whole house DVR was allowed on the network.  Can you elaborate a bit?

  • Downloading itunes causes computer to freeze because of high computer usage...how do i fix it?

downloading itunes causes computer to freeze because of high computer usage...how do i fix it?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • BT Infinity 2 and high ping rate

I am having a problem with my BT Infinity2.  I am getting high ping rates some as high as 181 ms.  I have download speeds of 15 meg and 8-9 meg upload.  This is through the router wired to my computer.  I was told that I should be able to get somewhere in the region of 77 meg.  This is nowhere near and needs to be sorted out.
It doesn't matter what time of day I do the speed test it is always the same.  If I try and play my Football Manager 2012 game online I can't as my connection just kicks me back off the steam server.  If I try and watch a programme on Iplayer or ITV player ther programmes are fuzzy, blocking and unwatchable, also with the buffering is beyond a joke.

micksea173 not good and you have my sympathy
Try rebooting both the hub and the modem. Run the BT Speedtester to get your IP Profiles and  http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ to get an accurate speed test. Pings are very dependant on the site you are measuring a ping of 181 for a server in LA could be quite good! If you know how also run a tracert to bbc.co.uk. Post agin with the results and somebody can make an educated guess as to where the problem lies.

Your profile is ok for your conenction speed. You need a faster conenction to get a higher profile so if your noise margin was reduced to 6db which is normal then that would increase your conenction speed giving higher profile and faster download speed
your current connection speed should be enough to stream to the tv
the mods will post a contact us link and reset noise margin to 6db.

  • HT4914 I have an iTunes library of some 18k tracks. If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I delete my library from the pc hard drive and then download my entire collection back at the higher bit rate of 256?

I would like to improve the quality of my iTunes library, most of which were ripped at the old 'higher quality' setting and not lossless.
I would consider subscribing to the iTunes Match programme if I would later be able to download my music back on to my PC at the improved higher bit rate  stated.
Is there a problem with this?

In iPhoto, Select All the Photos you want to move... Then goto  > File > Export >

  • HT204406 how do I download higher bit rate songs from itunes match to replace the lower bit rate I have on my itunes library?

I have itunes match and I have about 500 songs that were ripped at 128kbps. I have been tolf that I can replace them via itunes match to improve them to 256 or 320?
I have put them into a playlist in my itunes library and I want to know how I can upgrade their bit rate via itunes match. Can anyone help me?

    Sid,
With the device connected, click the Summary tab and you will see the "Convert higher bit rate..." option.  Set it to 128.  See picture below:

  • IPod not playing re-ripped tunes with higher bit-rates

Since I got my iPod and have more storage I have been slowly re-ripping some of some tunes at a higher bit rate. iTunes doesn't appear to try to sync these songs and re-upload them to the iPod.
What happens is that the song stops playing part-way through the song. My guess is that it is due to the file size of the old (lower) bit-rate, as if it still thinks the EOF is at the same spot even though the file is now larger. It's almost as if the index doesn't get updated properly somehow.
I've tried deleting all the songs on the iPod and even doing a restore, but that doesn't always fix it. Some songs do it, some don't.
I know the rips are good because I can play them all the way through with either iTunes or Media Player.
Any help on getting it to sync them properly?

I assume that I have to re-rip the songs at the higher bit rate, unless there is Is there an easy way to do that without re-ripping them.
Assuming you want the higher audio quality (and not just a puffed up version of the same low quality track) you will have to re-rip from the CDs.
Also, what happens to the lower bit rate songs in my playlists, especially if I delete the lower bit rate versions from my library?
Under certain conditions, iTunes will recognize the CD and ask you if you want to replace the existing versions.  Say yes, and the rip process will automatically do the replace.
In case it does not ask, just go ahead and rip, and then do the replacements manually.

  • How to build a array with high sampling rates 1K

Is there anyother good way to build a data arrary for high sampling rates??

Can't give a sample of the FPGA right now but here is a sample bit of RT code I recently used. I am acquiring data at 51,200 samples every second. I put the data in a FIFO on the FPGA side, then I read from that FIFO on the RT side and insert the data into a pre-initialized array using "Replace Array subset" NOT "Insert into array". I keep a count of the data I have read/inserted, and once I am at 51,200 samples, I know I have 1 full second of data. At this point, I add it to a queue which sends it to another loop to be processed. Also, I don't use the new index terminal in my subVI because I know I am always adding 6400 elements so I can just multiply my counter by 6400, but if you use the method described further down below , you will want to use the "new index" to return a value because you may not always read the same number of elements using that method.
The reason I use a timeout of 0 and a wait until next ms multiple is because if you use a timeout wired to the FIFO read node, it spins a loop in the background that polls for data, which rails your processor. Depending on what type of acquisition you are doing, you can also use the method of reading 0 elements, then using the "elements remaining" variable, to wire up another node as is shown below. This was not an option for me because of my programs architecture and needing chunks of 1 second data. Had I used this method it would have overcomplicated things if I read more elements then I had available in my 51,200 buffer.
Let me knwo if you have more qeustions
