Site to Site VPN Problems With 2801 Router and ASA 5505
Hello,
I am having some issue setting up a site to site ipsec VPN between a Cisco 2801 router and a Cisco ASA 5505. I was told there was a vpn previously setup with an old hosting provider, but those connections have been servered. Right now I am trying to get the sites to talk to the 2801. Here ere are my current configs, please let me know if you need anything else. Im stumped on this one. Thanks.

\\Level 0 virtual members must have a formula associated with them
Loading additional entity dimension members to essbase outline using load rule. Previously, the dimensions were loaded manually. File Layout includes Parent|Child|Alias|UDA|and some other Properties. Tested this in a QA enviornment successfully. All the new entities added and added to hierarchy. Since it ran successfully in QA, decided to run in PROD, and ran the load rule. The following error message was dumped into the .err file.
\\Level 0 virtual members must have a formula associated with them
The Parents of the Level 0 members were not in the outline, the same in QA. In QA, the new level 0 children's parents were added to the outline as they did not exist prior to running the load rule. When the load rule was executed, all of the new entities and parents were added correctly to QA. Expected same to occur in PROD. The outlines for QA and PROD were close to same, but were probably not exact.
Have seen posts regarding this issue for planning applications, but did not see for Essbase only. Would greatly appreciate assistance with resolving this issue.
DavidYou can check following :
1. If you are using Essbase, check the level 0 members have a formula associated to them if the data storage property is marked as "Dynamic Calc".
2. If you are using planning, then make sure you do not ahve HSP_UDF as UDA attached to member in planning. -
Cisco 877W router and external ADSL modem
Cisco 877W router and external ADSL modem
In order to support ADSL2+ on a pre ADSL2+ router and in preparation for a later migration to BT infinity I am trying to configure the Router using an external adsl2+ modem appropriately.
The original configuration had 3 ports configured as one (internal lan) vlan and bridge group together with one wireless sub-interface, the remaining port configured a second vlan and bridge group with a second wireless sub- interface. The Dialer was a member of the second bridge group. This way the second wireless interface and associated bridge group provided a kind of DMZ for outbound access.
The configuration I am attempting is similar the lan ports remain the same, but port 0 as a member of the vlan and bridge group (now a pppoe client) associated with one of the wireless sub interfaces as per above. The ATM interface is downed. This nearly works except that if the wireless subinterface on this bridge group is configured the dialer no longer dials giving a 'no dialer string' error. If I do not configure that wireless sub interface all works well.
If anyone is interested to look I would appreciate any comments. I enclose a sanitised config in which you will note the 'commented out' wireless subnet interface (in red).

endHi Jody,
Apologies delay in replying. I have done the following:
Made two of the FE ports vlan1,BVI1 (for LAN traffic)
Left one port as VLAN10 as the pppoe client conected to the externalmodem
Made the last port VLAN10 as well and gave it an IP addess as for a DMZ client.
I have DHCP configured to serve the DMZ addresses.
This all works for LAN clients and also works for a client attachedto that physical DMZ port.
When I added a dot11radio sub interface into VLAN 10 the wireless client did not get an IP lease. Everything else continued to work.
I had never thought about this before, but if a dot11radio interface is on the same vlan (but not being part ofa bridge group) why are DHCP broadcasts not propogating to all the vlan members as I would have expected. I recognise that this isa limit in my understanding.
If I then made VLAN10 a member of a new Bridge Group, I lost WAN connectivity as per original posting.
I cannot add another VLAN due to the 2 vlan limit in this image.
Finally regarding your comment about giving it what it wants, what exactly did you have in mind. The dialer already has a dial string parameters configured.
Think I am about to give upon this.

Unable to connect to netgear router and internet
I've installed Solaris 10 1/06 (x86) on a system running an intel mainboard model D865PERL. This has a built in ethernet controller ( Intel 82547EI gigabit lan controller) and the mainboard appears on the bigadmin hcl as being supported. The OS recognizes the built-in NIC as e1000g0 but during initial installation it attempts to configure e1000g0 first thing then responds with "skipped interface e1000g0" then proceeds with the installation.
I choose Networked and run through the installation (or following a sys-unconfig) selecting to enable DHCP but it returns "Could not contact a dhcp server on the network interface e1000g0." I then have to set it up staticly to resume the configurator. I specify the e1000g0's ip address as 192.168.0.5 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. I choose not to enable IPv6 (ive tried it with IPv6 enabled) and no Kerberos. I attempt to specify DNS for name service and use my internet providers domain name (both the name and the resolved ip address associated with it) with the two DNS server ip addresses resolved by the WAN setup on the router (Netgear FR328S), selecting no search domains. But it is unable to locate my hostname on the provided DNS's i entered. dunno why it would say that, it really doesn't matter does it? Anyway, I specify no name service to proceed. i choose no to the question in regards to overriding the system's default NFS version 4 domain name to continue.
It knows it has a cable connection but I'm unable to see the router, even though ive specified 192.168.0.1 as the default route (ive also tried setting it to detect the default route on reboot but it fails). The router doesn't see the NIC as a connected device either (im setting here on another computer running xp :() Ive tried disabling the DHCP server feature on the router and I still cant see it. Ive tried setting the NIC's ip address and MAC address as reserved in the LAN setup on the router (this works for my winXP drive where I need a static IP address and also have access to the internet). I've tried leaving the reserved IP address assignment (attached to the NIC's mac address and host name that i specified) with DHCP enabled but I'm still unable to resolve an IP address from the dhcp server. I made sure the router had the latest firmware and went through the configuration with a fine toothed comb, so to speak. nothing seems to work.
I tried to connect directly to the internet device, removing the router and it still fails to resolve an ip address via dhcp. what am i missing here? Ive run through this multiple times now and im at a loss. Ive also referenced sun's System Administration Guide: IP Service to try to resolve the issue but im now all I'm doing is going in circles.

Work first on seeing the router, using a static IP and pings.
Forget about DNS, DHCP, etc for now. If you don't see the router, nothing is going to work.
You don't need to reboot or do sys-unconfig every time. Just change your settings using ifconfig and route add. Actually, you don't even need to set the route to be able to ping something inside your subnet.
By your output of ifconfig, it seems that the NIC plumbed correctly.
In the Solaris machine, try pinging your own IP address to make sure it responds and you don't have any issues with the NIC/driver.
Make sure the cable and port in your router work. If you can use them with Windows, you should be able to use them with Solaris. Unless...
Try using a crossover network cable to connect the Solaris computer to the router. This is personal experience: I had a Blade 100 that would not see my router. After a couple of hours of trying just about everything, I used a crossover cable and voila! it worked. Why? I don't know :) , but it worked... -
Reinstalled my router and now Airport has gone inactive and will not reconnect
Reinstalled my Linksys router and now Airport has gone inactive and will not reconnect. What am doing wrong?
How did you reinstall the router? Do you mean updated the firmware on the router? Did you change the router settings and if so, what changes did you make? Did you make associated changes in the AirPort card in your iMac?

Wireless-G Router and Invalid IP Address Problem
Hello! I have just installed a Belkin card into my son’s computer (WinXP) and then installed a Linksys Wireless-G router to our main computer (also XP). The main computer accesses the internet fine via the router, and my son’s computer is showing that the router and Belkin card are working, but I’m getting an “invalid IP” message when I try to figure out why it won’t connect.
Here is some basic info that I thought might help. I spent most of yesterday culling the Linksys site for suggestions, none of which have worked. So if more info is needed, I’m sure I have it handy!
The icon try shows the two-computers icon and says, “Connected to: linksys-SES-64264. Signal: Very Good.”
The tower icon says, “Belkin. SSID. Speed: 54.0 mbps. Signal: Very Low. Status: Associated. Address: 0.0.0.0”
When I go into ipconfig/all, I see:
Host……son’s name
Primary Dns Suffix…..
Node….Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled…..No
WINS Proxy Enabled…..No
Desc…..Belkin 802.11g Network Adapter
Physical Address…..00-11-50-60-B0-BA
Dhcp Enabled…..Yes
Auto Configure……Yes
IP……0.0.0.0
Default Gateway…..
DHCP…..255.255.255.255
Can anyone offer some assistance, please? I’m at a total loss at this point. I’ve run the wizards a zillion times, etc., and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong! It seems you're connected to a different SSID that's why you're getting a low signal in the first place and you're not getting any IP address at all.
1. Click here to set up your wreless security (Follow the procedure only up to setting up 64-bit WEP)
2. Use the wireless zero configuration of XP(the 2-computer icon on your system tray) to manage your wireless connection. Right-click the Belkin icon and look for an option to exit or disable. If it doesn't work or it doesn't have that opiton, use the Belkin wireless utility instead.
3. Connect to your own SSID and type your network key/password you setup on step 1 -
U-Verse 2-Wire router and Time Capsule configuration
I have U-verse internet service with a 2-Wire router. I have logged into my 2-Wire router and turned off the built-in WiFi associated with it. I currently have my Time Capsule set to DHCP and NAT mode. I get the double NAT warnings but everything works and my Time Capsule is dynamically issuing all of the IP addresses for all my items connected wired or wirelessly via the Time Capsule.
I just purchased a WiFi enabled security camera that is now connected to my Time Capsule network. I would like to be able to access this camera outside of my local network. I have DynDNS setup but the camera requires UpNP in order for it to be reachable. I know that the Time Capsule doesn't have this natively but that you can achieve the same thing with port forwarding (at least that is my belief). I have tried this but I believe that I might have to make this configuration change on the 2-Wire modem/router.
Question 1: I'm thinking that maybe I should switch my Time Capsule from DHCP and NAT mode to Off (Bridge Mode). If I do this does that mean that my 2-Wire will be issuing all the IP addresses for my local network?
Question 2: I really like interacting with the Apple products and associated software (e.g. Airport Utility) to setup, view and monitor my local network. Will I lose this if I switch over to Off (Bridge Mode)?
Question 3: I want to use my Time Capsule for backups, wireless network and hopefully for managing my local network. What is the best setup with a U-verse 2-Wire modem/router?
There is tons of information on this community but after searching and reading for a while I couldn't figure out if any directly answered my questions.I currently have my Time Capsule set to DHCP and NAT mode. I get the double NAT warnings but everything works and my Time Capsule is dynamically issuing all of the IP addresses for all my items connected wired or wirelessly via the Time Capsule.
While this might work on a simple home network without too many downsides, if you try to add enhanced features like port forwarding, things are going to become much more complicated, and may not be possible.
Question 1: I'm thinking that maybe I should switch my Time Capsule from DHCP and NAT mode to Off (Bridge Mode). If I do this does that mean that my 2-Wire will be issuing all the IP addresses for my local network?
It would be much better to simply configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode and allow the 2-Wire router to control DHCP and NAT for the entire network.
Question 2: I really like interacting with the Apple products and associated software (e.g. Airport Utility) to setup, view and monitor my local network. Will I lose this if I switch over to Off (Bridge Mode)?
No
Question 3: I want to use my Time Capsule for backups, wireless network and hopefully for managing my local network. What is the best setup with a U-verse 2-Wire modem/router?
The Time Capsule will be available for backups and it will provide a wireless network. The Time Capsule cannot manage your entire local network, no matter how you configure it. Often, the simplest set up.....Bridge Mode for the Time Capsule......is also the best set up. In your case, this would be true. -

Hi,
I have (stupid perhaps) question.
Is this scenario possible:
SNC connection from SAP GUI to SAP Router, and non-SNC connection from SAP Router to SAP System.
I know how to set up scenario like this:
SAP System --- (non-SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (non-SNC conn) --- SAP GUI.
Best regards,
Marek MajchrowskiWolfgang,
To be sure myself and Marek understand, can you confirm the different scenarios supported:
Scenario 1:
SAP GUI --- (non SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (non-SNC conn) --- SAP System
With this scenario, it would be possible for a user to logon using SAP GUI onto the SAP System, but without SAP GUI SNC.
Scenario 2:
SAP GUI --- (SNC conn) --- saprouter1 --- (non SNC conn) --- saprouter2 --- (SNC conn) --- SAP System
With this scenario it would be possible to logon to the SAP System using SAP GUI, and using SNC authentication.
Also, with this scenario the SAP GUI software and SAP System software would consider this to be similar to:
SAP GUI -- (SNC conn) -- SAP System
Scenario 3:
This is the scenario mentioned by Marek in his initial question:
SAP GUI -- (SNC conn) -- saprouter1 -- (non SNC conn) -- SAP System
With this scenario it will not be possible to logon to SAP System using SNC, and only possible if the SAP GUI is configured to not use SNC. In other words the SNC connection between SAP GUI and saprouter1 is available, but cannot be used.
Thanks,
Tim

Default static route and Null 0
Hi Everyone,
Need to clear some doubts for below setup
Switch 3550A is connected to Internet Router and has OSPF nei relationship with it.
3550A# sh run int fa0/11
Building configuration...
Current configuration : 272 bytes
interface FastEthernet0/11
description OSPF LAN Connection to 2691 Router Interface Fas 0/1
no switchport
ip address 192.168.5.2 255.255.255.254
sh ip route shows
3550A#sh ip route
Gateway of last resort is 192.168.5.3 to network 0.0.0.0
O*E2 0.0.0.0/0 [110/1] via 192.168.5.3, 20:39:56, FastEthernet0/11
3550A#
All is working fine.
For testing purposes i config below static route on 3550A
ip default-network 192.168.1.0
ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 Null0
After above change
3550A# sh ip route
Codes: C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, M - mobile, B - BGP
D - EIGRP, EX - EIGRP external, O - OSPF, IA - OSPF inter area
N1 - OSPF NSSA external type 1, N2 - OSPF NSSA external type 2
E1 - OSPF external type 1, E2 - OSPF external type 2
i - IS-IS, su - IS-IS summary, L1 - IS-IS level-1, L2 - IS-IS level-2
ia - IS-IS inter area, * - candidate default, U - per-user static route
o - ODR, P - periodic downloaded static route
Gateway of last resort is not set
S* 192.168.1.0/24 is directly connected, Null0
O*E2 0.0.0.0/0 [110/1] via 192.168.5.3, 20:38:38, FastEthernet0/11
Now i can not ping to internet as below
3550A#ping 4.2.2.2
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 4.2.2.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
When we ping from Switch then source IP is always the Outside interface IP right?
So in this case Switch is using which IP as source?
Ping to internet is not working as default network is set to 192.168.1.0 and all request goes to this IP and then it goes to
Null interface right?
Extended ping works fine as below
3550A#ping
Protocol [ip]:
Target IP address: 4.2.2.2
Repeat count [5]:
Datagram size [100]:
Timeout in seconds [2]:
Extended commands [n]: y
Source address or interface: 192.168.5.2
Type of service [0]:
Set DF bit in IP header? [no]:
Validate reply data? [no]:
Data pattern [0xABCD]:
Loose, Strict, Record, Timestamp, Verbose[none]:
Sweep range of sizes [n]:
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 4.2.2.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 192.168.5.2
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 76/79/80 ms
Second thing to confirm is this ping works because 192.168.5.2 is directly connected to Internet Router interface?
Regards
MAheshHi Mahesh,
When we ping from Switch then source IP is always the Outside interface IP right?
That is correct. By default it is always the outgoing interface on the device unless you specify it differently.
Ping to internet is not working as default network is set to 192.168.1.0 and all request goes to this IP and then it goes to
Null interface right?
That is correct. Null0 can't be used as next-hop.
Second thing to confirm is this ping works because 192.168.5.2 is directly connected to Internet Router interface?
No, that is because 192.168.5.0/30 is NATed. Remember 192.168.x.x address is a private segment and cannot access the Internet unless NAT is used.

I am about to hook up my airport extreme. My cable modem goes into a router, and one of those ports will supply my airport extreme. I was told by the Apple Store that I would need to configure my airport extreme as a wirreless access point. How do I do this?
With sbcgobal I got a Gateway 2wire modem. What I would like to know is how do I set up my APE as remote?
Unfortunately, you won't be able to do this as few non-AirPort routers will work with AirPorts in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). -
The internet provider reset my router and now I cannot use Apple Tv. I tired restore and reseting the apple tv and the Network test is fine. Netflix shows error atv-ui10 and you no movies come up it just shoes black tickets at the top of the screen and says i am not connect. Internet works fine.
Delete/forget the network connection on the ATV and reconnect to the network.
Power cycle the router. -
I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro running on OS 10.8.2 to a Linksys EA3500 router and when I go to click on the set up icon I get an "unsupported operating system". Any suggestions on what to do? The Linksys site is useless. Do I need some kind of upgrade?
Don't use the CD software its not necessary.
Infact put it in the trash.
Your router will have an IP address in the range 192.168.1.1
Connect your router to your Mac via Ethernet cable (They usually supply one with the router and don't worry which end goes where the Mac LAN socket is bi-directional)
Also connect your router to your telephone line.
Now open your Web browser Safari . Type in the IP address above and a Javascript control panel will launch
Enter the default password and username (They are on a label on the router )
Your now have the ability to set up your router.
Your will need the password and user name supplied to you by your ISP at a minimum.
Enter these and most modern routers automatically configure the basic networking setting.
You now need to go to the security setting and set this as WPA2 Personal (NOT Enterprise) or WPA2 with AES and TKIP which ever it refers to and create a pass-phase. WRITE it down
You should be online.
Now remove the cable and connect to the Wifi and enter that passphase. -
Bought Airport Extreme with Time Capsule version 7.7.2 with 2 Terabytes Feb 2014. It was probably an expensive mistake, but after searching for weeks for a external hard drive, it seemed reasonably priced to just use the capsule as my external hard drive for the price I paid. Spend an hour with Apple Care to get it working-had to use ethernet cord to my iMac OS 10.8.5 processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5. I did not "need" the airport as we have a Winstream SAGEMCOM modem/router (Sagemfast 1704) But, I was desperate and about to lose my old external hard drive with literally had 3 computers worth of information on it. It had already "died" once, but got it back, so once I got the airport/capsule and was told I just paid for an expensive HD, I had no time to take it back to get something else-I had to transfer my info right then. We (Apple Care) could not get it to work as a HD wirelessly. It may be because it was being set up for the first time; I don't know. I was hoping I would get a transcript of all done so I could do it myself if needed later on, but when I looked at my email-they didn't do that. (Don't know if that is normal, I was used to other "techs" sending the email.) So now I really want to try to move my airport and "extend" our wifi as it said on the "box" that you could do...
Our Windstream router had to be placed in the lower level at the bottom of our stairs. The stairway is "open" (no door going down the steps). I want to place the Extreme at the top of the stairs so that we can use some things in our offices or not have Netflix on our TV lose connectivity when we all are on our computers.
I know I need an ethernet cord to connect directly with the modem/router to the Airport Extreme. I don't know what I will need to do after I connect it as it was so goofy when we set it up the first time (With the app it would disappear and not show up..) But my biggest concern is will I be able to still use the capsule as my hard drive and will I be able to do it wirelessly? (Even with it connected by ethernet, every day I have to re-connect to it before I can click on anything on the hard drive. It never shows up on it's own as my old HD did. That drives me nuts.) I do back up using the Time Capsule feature as well. I appreciate any help.I am still willing to plug in the ethernet cord to the modem/router and try it IF I was able to get a step by step instructions..
Connecting the Time Capsule (TC) to the existing Winstream by Ethernet would be the basis for a roaming type network. This type of network allows you to basically "roam" with a wireless client and connect to either router. This, in essence, would provide you with an "extended" wireless network. The Apple routers can work with just about any manufacturers' routers in this fashion.
The keys to having a successful roaming network are as follows:
The routers must be interconnected by Ethernet.
Both routers will broadcast their own Wi-Fi network, but MUST use the same Network Name (or SSID), wireless security type (WPA or WPA2), and wireless password.
The TC MUST be reconfigured as a bridge.
Connect a single Ethernet cable between one of the Winstream's LAN ports and the WAN (circle of dots) port on the TC.
The basic steps are:
Power-down the Winstream.
Perform a "factory default" reset on the TC. Leave the TC powered-down after the reset has completed.
Connect the TC to the Winstream using an Ethernet cable.
Power-up the Winstream. Wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it to initialize.
Power-up the TC. Wait at least 5 minutes to allow it to initialize. (Note: Since we just reset the TC it will be performing as a wireless router that will be broadcasting an unsecured Wi-Fi network with a Network Name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN)
Connect your computer to the Winstream's Wi-Fi network.
Run the AirPort Utility. select the TC, and then, select Edit.
Go to the Network tab.
Change the Router Mode option to: Off (Bridge Mode)
Select the Wireless tab.
Verify that the Network Mode option is set to: Create a wireless network
For Wireless Network Name, enter the Wi-Fi network name used by the Winstream.
For Wireless Security, select the equivalent security type that is used by the Winstream. (Note: Use "WPA/WPA2 Personal" if the Winstream is using WPA/TKIP. Use "WPA2 Personal" is the Winstream is using WPA2/AES.
For Wireless Password, enter the same password used by the Winstream.
Select Update and allow the TC to restart.
As far as your external HD, yes you should still be able to use it as before.
