ROUTING-FIB-4-RSRC_LOW

Hi All,
I have a ASR 9006 router and have double RSP module. I have problem with static routing. Static routing doesn't working today. I saw the this log.
%ROUTING-FIB-4-RSRC_LOW : CEF running low on DATA_TYPE_TABLE_SET resource memory. CEF will now begin resource constrained forwarding. Only route deletes will be handled in this state, which may result in mismatch between RIB/CEF. Traffic loss on certain prefixes can be expected. CEF will automatically resume normal operation, once the resource utilization returns to normal level.
My device have double rsp active standby mode. I'm using version asr9k-ce-4.1.2 ( I have asr9k-ce-4.2.0 but inactive ) I have a full routing table seven BGP connection.
Static routing doesn't working. What can do it?

The question is unfortunately not new, but it starts appearing more and more due to the increase of the internet routing table.
Besides the already great answers provided by Sam and Florian, I wanted to point you to the following helpful (hopefully) resources:

  • ASR BNG - %ROUTING-FIB-3-PD_FAIL

    Hello guys,
I am a rookie with BNG and PPPoE.
After I have configured everything (I think) for PPPoE connections and after the laptop has connected to the BNG I saw this message, and packet forwarding was not working. Please see attached config of ASR9001. For now I am skipping the authentication because I want first to solve this issue.
I will try now to reload, and if it does not help I will upgrade from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1!
    fib_mgr[175]: %ROUTING-FIB-3-PD_FAIL : fib_leaf_insert 5225 Cannot insert in switching leaf 80.65.72.245/32 [0x87b4e764] type 5 flags 81 refcnt 1 prot ipv4 table Internet tableid e0000010 vrfid 60000001 ---LDI: [0x879bf5b0] type 6 flags 2010101 refcnt 2 type 3 depth 1 num_slots 1 num_buckets 1 LDI pl 0x87892fb8 ---PL [0x87892fb8] type 7 flags 480002 refcnt 2 path_cnt 1 max_depth 1 ldi 0x879bf5b0  ---: 0x16 Invalid argument  : pkg/bin/fib_mgr : (PID=446569) :  -Traceback= 40
I found this regarding the ROUTING-FIB message:
    %ROUTING-FIB-3-PD_FAIL [chars]
Explanation    This is a catch all PD errors.
Recommended Action    If the message recurs, copy the error message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the representative with the gathered information.
I really hope that you can help me with this.

multiple options to format the username for authorization of mac/rid/cid:
    policy-map type control subscriber ipsub_policy1
    event session-start match-first
class type control subscriber class-dhcp do-all
       1 activate dynamic-template ipsub_template
3 authorize aaa list default identifier circuit-id password dhcp123
       5 activate dynamic-template acct-default
Attribute definitions that we can reference for the nas-port
    !building.
!”MY_AUTH” will take the mac address, circuit ID and remoteIDand
!append them together separated by hash signs. If one of the fields is
!not available, an empty string will be provided for that portion.
    !example 0000.1111.2222##remoteid or 0000.2222.1111#circ#remote
    aaa attribute format MY_AUTH
    mac-address plus circuit-id plus remote-id separator #
    event session-start match-first
class type control subscriber DHCP do-until-failure
10 authorize aaa list default format MY_AUTH password cisco
or you can use the attribute formatting in a c style mode:
    format-string "USER:%s%s" mac-address circuit-id which will result in a username string like USER:0000.1111.2222CIRCID
although you use the authorize command to sed this username to the radius, nad if it will return an accept, this means the dhcp transaction will complete and the sub will get everything applied whichever the radius accept returns.
but the internal state is called unauthenticated for BNG, because we have no user username or password.
authorize uses a predefined password based on some circuit info. no user info really.
Most providers would like to get something from teh user like a pass and uname to get the user specific profiles
    but this is truly optional.

  • Cisco router fiber optics 20Mbs link

    Hi All,
At the moment our company will be provided with Fiber Optics 20Mbs link (private network). What router would you recommend?
The existing one is Ccisco router 2801.
Is there any router series ME4300? if yes, is it capble of delevering 20Mbs/20Mbs link?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Cal

You have a few choices.  2801 is NOT one of them.  (The 2800 ISR G1 is End-of-Sale/End-of-Life.)
The 2900 can handle 20 mbps without breaking a sweat.  The 2901 and 2911 does not have an SFP port but you can purchase an optional EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU and appropriate SFP module your provide will present to you.

  • ASR9000 and SVI

    Hi,
I was wondering if i can create SVI on ASR9000 ?
We have a metro deployment with L2 rings using REP and ME3400.
We are also considering of buying 2 ASR9000 routers.
For example we want to have a daisy chain of ME3400 interconnected via L2 trunk ports and have this daisy chain connected from one end to one of the ASR9000 and from the second end to the other. The ASRs would be interconnected with 10G dark fiber.
Since the chain is L2 we probably need to run REP over the ASRs to create a ring. Now the question is can ASR have SVI in those vlans ?

    Hi Alex
Apologize that my question didn't relate to this topic but I can't reply into "ASR9000/XR: Monitoring CPU and memory" topic. I got error as below on all linecard.

From this error I have problem about some bgp route can't install into routing table which same as "adding route fail" section from troubleshooting guide. From that guide it has workaround by delete some existing route so my question is which prefix should I delete? I tried to delete some route already but it also happen again so what's should I do next?
    Thank you

  • High cpu when change "mls cef maximum-route ip" to more than 512K

    Dear All
From cisco document 6500-sup720 and 7600-rsp720 are support IPv4 unicast and MPLS—512,000 routes by default. On my network we have route more than 400K which nearly reach to the limit then I tried to change from 512K to 1007K as below.
    Router#sh mls cef maximum-routes
    FIB TCAM maximum routes :
    =======================
    Current :-
    IPv4                - 1007k
    MPLS                - 1k
    IPv6 + IP Multicast - 8k (default)
After rebooted I got high cpu issue on both 6500-sup720 and 7600-rsp720 then I tried to tuning to other value such as 600K , 700K and so on but doesn't help.
    Summary
       - I have no cpu issue with default value for mls cef maximum-route
       - I have cpu issue when tuning to other value such as 600K , 700K
    Please advise.

  • Connecting fiber modem to wifi router

I am usually pretty savvy with networking but this one really has got me.  I have searched all over teh Intarwebs with no success solving it.  I need the help of my fellow Mac-o-philes.
Basically, here's the issue.  I'm in Mexico, and I want to set up a VPN (specifically HideMyAss, HMA) so that I can use my Roku and generally stream things from the United States.
TELMEX has given me a Alcatel-Lucent I-240w-q router which connects to the fiber line they have run to my house.
Separately, I bought a ASUS RT-N16 wifi router because that is the one that HMA says can be programmed to be the central "tunnel" into their VPN.  I upgraded the RT-N16 firmware to DD-WRT's most recent build.
I have access to the config sections of both routers so I can modify their settings at will.
So what I need to do is connect the Alcatel router to the Asus router in such a way as I can use the Asus router as the primary access to the Internet (I wanted to set this up BEFORE I get the HMA subscription so that I could confirm it worked before I shell out for HMA).
I would deeply appreciate any assistance at all in setting things up so it goes through.

    Really, nobody?

Datacenter feature: There will be fiber connections already installed at the DMZ site from the meet me telco room to the partner racks.  Therefore, your service provider must understand that they will do a circuit handoff to fiber and order the routers, interface cards, connectors, etc. to support fiber circuit extension.

You can use standard Ethernet copper or Fiber, providing that you have the correct SFP/GBICs.
As long as you have the correct SFP's you need for the ASR - All should be good.

  • Fiber upgraded but didn't bother to issue me a router!

I would just like to say how appaulled I am with the level of service I am receiving. I upgraded from Sky broadband Unlimited to Fiber Unlimited on June 20th. I then had my sky broadband disconnected & had my fiber activated on June 30th. I attempted to use my service but it was not connected. I called sky support to find out that I had not been issued with a new router to use my fiber. It is now 6th July & still no router. I gave them a call & I was told that I will be compensated from the connection time to the time I receive my router. Well to be honest that should be obviouse but by no means of any sort of compensation. I have listings on eBay & I also do internet banking to much of my shopping online. I have had to spend money to use my dongle so I have some sort of internet.  The guy told me thats all they can do & I just lost my temper & hung up! When I do get my router I am going to call back & expect not only to be refunded for the amount of days I have had no internet but for the inconveniance caused or I will just say well, keep your services & cancel the lot. There's been ample time for someone to realize no router has been issued for my upgrade & it took 2 phone calls for someone to realize & have one issued & I am still waiting.

What router do you currently have is it the Sr101 (white Sky Hub) or the Sr102 (black Sky Hub) or is it none of those?
Regarding compensation Sky are under no obligation to offer anything other than a loss of service credit so your very unlikely to get any out of pocket expenses refunded(and they certainly won't offer anything for any losses by not making listings on eBay). Edit Just read from another post of yours that you have a white Sky hub so you could buy an Openreach modem off of eBay or other online sites that way you would be able to get up and running and keep using the router you have instead of the much criticised Sr102(plus you'd have a back up just in case of a failure).

    Hi Kanwal,
Thank you for your answer. I thought that maybe "clear rtcache" would do the trick...
I checked and this entry was indeed replicated to the FT peer. If we reload the failover module first and wait until it's back in "standby hot" state before rebooting the active module, will the table entry be replicated from the active to the standby again? If it's the case we would have to reload both modules at the same time, causing an interruption   ;-(

  • Cisco 7606 FIB Protocol Allocation mismatch after mls cef maximum-routes command

    Hi,
we are trying to fine tune the mls cef maximum-routes without success for ipv4 on our Cisco 7606 router equiped like this:

      2  0013.c38b.ed9c to 0013.c38b.edb3   2.2   12.2(14r)S5  12.2(33)SRC1 Ok

the show version is like this:
    System image file is "bootdisk:c7600s72033-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRC1.bin"
We tryied to set the value of the ipv4 FIB TCAM to 720k with this command:
    mls cef maximum-routes ip 720
and then to save the configuration we used the "write" command. This was the output after we wrote the configuration:
    FIB TCAM maximum routes :
    =======================
    Current :-
     IPv4 + MPLS         - 512k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 256k (default)
    User configured :-
     IPv4                - 720k
     MPLS                - 16k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 144k (default)
    Upon reboot :-
     IPv4                - 720k
     MPLS                - 16k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 144k (default)
so we reloaded the router to get the new value.
when the router was up again it start to reload each 4 minutes. The FIB TCAM value was:
    show mls cef maximum-routes
Reload scheduled for 13:50:09 DST Wed Aug 13 2014 (in 2 minutes and 51 seconds)
Reload reason: FIB Protocol Allocation mismatchFIB TCAM maximum routes :
    =======================
    Current :-
     IPv4 + MPLS         - 512k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 256k (default)
    User configured :-
     IPv4 + MPLS         - 512k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 256k (default)
    Upon reboot :-
     IPv4 + MPLS         - 512k (default)
     IPv6 + IP Multicast - 256k (default)
We know that our cisco is able to handle up to 1M of ipv4 routes inside the TCAM but we cannot set more than 512k ipv4 routes.
Why the router doesn't accept the new value?
    Thanks

  • Internet provider switching to fiber optic. Will WRT54G router still work???

I've recently learned that my internet provider is switching me to fiber optic. I've tried looking up the fiber optic thing on the internet but my knowledge about it is so limited that I'm not sure what to look for.
Here is a link to a page on my internet providers website that has a tiny bit about it. It's called FiberConnect.
    http://www.rtc1.com/internet-rochester.htm
Will my WRT54G router work with fiber optic?

Yes it should work, just make sure you'd be able to connect to the internet when you connect your computer straight to the modem, then, install the router

  • 3640 router and 2950 switch via fiber

    hi all,
is it possible to get a 3640 router with a NM-1FE-FX(100basefx) module and a WS-C2950C-24(100basefx) switch and setup 802.1q between them??
    TX

If you wan to trunk between them then the answer is yes you can trunk between as long as the router has a newer version of code on it like 12.2

  • New N Router wont connect to "n radio band" PLEASE HELP

    Hey All,
So I just got the new N ROuter from Fios.  (P.s.  If you want one, just upgrade to the 35/35 plan and they will offer you it and send a tech to bring it).
My problem however is that my laptop which has the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6230 internal wireless card will only connect to the "g radio band".  Is there some setting I can change on the router or my system?  The whole reason I upgraded was to get my laptops connecting at "n speed".
If my internal wireless card isn't compatible is the a known one that does?
Thanks for any help.  I really appreciate it.

I second the check for WPA2. Verizon should not be shipping any N-capable routers (Rev F-I) with anything BUT WPA2-AES security, as any device compliant with the N Standards will fall to G speeds if any other encryption type is used. Unsecured, while not recommended except for testing purposes is the only other mode that will allow N speeds.

The first to bring me 1Gbps Fiber for $30/m wins!

  • Route multiple VLANs through single port

    Hello,
I have a series of 3560g's setup. I am going to be connecting two of them between different offices via a fiber cable. I use 3 VLANs and am unable to find a way to make this work.
Each site will have 5 switches. 2 for VLAN1, 2 for VLAN2, and one that has VLAN1-3 on it. Is it possible to link the two sites together with the single cable in a manner that allows the two connected to route the 3 VLANs through this one cable?

Just to clarify, only the ports, on the link between the switches, are defined as trunk ports.
By default, each switch will send all its defined VLANs to the trunk port.  If both switches have the same VLAN, those VLANs will become logically one.
