Routing Query

We have setup sun communication suite version 5.
For mail routing we are using a gateway.
What we noticed was before making changes in imta and mapping files, the smtp was sending to its local domain directly.
Now the mails are routed through the gateway even for the same domain. This may cause issues later, if we have problems on the gateway.
How do we set that if it belongs to the mail domain used, it should send directly and not use the gateway.

How do we set that if it belongs to the mail domain used, it should send directly and not use the gateway. That would depend on how you changed the routing to get the current behaviour.

in the case CSCul66951 LDAP routing query fails when user name is the same it is mentionned that the version 8.0.2-055 correct this bug ? How come i don't see this version on my menu Available upgrades from my IronPort C370 ?
Is there someone on the support team that have try this LDAP query on a IronPort C370 with this version in the development lab ?

  • LDAP Routing Query

    Hi,
    we have the following scenario:
There is just one single mail domain.
500 Mailboxes are on an Microsoft Exchange server with Active Directory, 500 Mailboxes are on a different server hosting POP3 Mailboxes.
Obviously I cannot use a LDAP Accept Query, as the AD doesn't have any knowledge about the POP3 mailboxes. The question is, can I still use LDAP for mailrouting, even if some account are not in the AD?

Well.... there are more LDAP directories that MS-Active Directory.
If I understand you right your main problem is how to route 50% of your recipient addresses to Exchange and 50% of them to the POP3 system. If you could, it would be nice to have a message accept policy that is LDAP driven.
I suggest you try to install a dedicated LDAP server for your Ironport(s). That LDAP server should be updated daily with the details from your AD and an export from the POP3 system. On the LINUX platform there are several options (OpenLDAP, Apache Directory, Fedora 389, etc).
If you make sure your import scripts also provisions the mail addresses of all users and (at least) an attribute like "mailHost" (your Exchange based 50% of your recipients would have a static value of "your.exchange.server" (=hostname of your Exchange bridgehead) as value, the other 50% would have "your.pop3.server" (=hostname of your POP3 server) as value.
After that you can create a mail routing LDAP query that makes sure the messages are routed correctly. The mailHost attribute will be used to determine where the message should be routed to. If needed, you can also run a message acceptance query against that same LDAP. That query would reject all mail addresses that are unknown to the directory.
If you have more questions about this, jus send me a message; I have some experience with this matter.

  • Looking to switch: router query.

Hi, i'm looking to switch broadband providers but i have a query first.
At the moment my wifi is provided by Apple Airport Express and Apple extenders and is linked to the router with ethernet cable. Does the BT router have an ethernet connection so i can still use the Apple wifi and if so will i be apple to turn off the BT wifi while i use this method.
    Solved!

  • Routing query on EIGRP and OSPF

    Hi,
Suppose i have 2 routers connected by using ethernet link. I have 2 internal network connected to each routers.
Now i am using OSPF routing protocol between the routers and i made adjancies only with the ethernet interface ip address ie /30 subent.
Now my query, will my internal network will get advertised by learning internally or do i want to advertise by using network command.
Again.. do i want to advertise with passive interface command or not. what is the difference in enabling ospf for all networks.
Attached a sample diagram which my setup clearly.
I want to know, what the is difference if i advertise the internal network with passive interface enabled and not.
May be the query is simple, but i am missing to understand one point and looking for the someone to explain that.
Also the sme using EIGRP, will it make any difference. As i understood the network command in IGP is same,
    Regards,Gan

    Gan
You have choices about how you can get OSPF and EIGRP to advertise the LAN subnets that you have configured. Let me start with the obvious point that you must have a network statement for the subnet that connects the two routers. The network statement is necessary to have the routing protocol run on those connecting interfaces.
Beyond the connecting interfaces you have a choice about how to get the routing protocol to advertise the LAN subnets. You could use network statements that match the LAN subnets. This will result in the routing protocol running on the LAN interfaces as well as the connecting interface. This is the approach that is frequently used but not the only option. You can also redistribute connected into the routing protocol. Redistribute connected will result in the routing protocol advertising the subnets but the routing protocol will not run on the LAN interfaces. The other thing to consider is that if you redistribute the subnets they will be advertised as External routes in the routing protocol.
If you do use network statements for the LAN subnets then there is the question of whether to use passive interface for the LAN subnets. When you use passive interface the routing protocol does not send any hello messages on those interfaces, will not create any neighbor relationships on those interfaces, and will not accept any routing updates from those interfaces. If there are no routers connected on those interfaces and no other devices that need to participate in the routing protocol then passive interface may be a good option to consider as it reduces the overhead processing on the interface.

  • Help - Router Query

I have just set up my router and all is connecting very well, except I keep seeing this message in my router logs:
    TCP Packet - Source:192.168.0.3,49678 Destination:server213-171-218-171.livedns.org.uk,80 - [BLOCK]
Can anyone help me to understand what this message actually means and more importantly, do I need to worry about it ?
Any light that can be shed is as always appreciated.

It looks like your router or a computer connected to it is requesting domain name information or contacting a DNS server for another reason; DNS servers translate numerical IP addresses into text strings, such as www.apple.com.

  • WRT330N - Gaming Router - Query

Hi All, I am thinking about buying the 330N Gaming Router to replace my WRT300N.
I am curious about one thing, is it possible for me to backup the current config on the 300N and restore it to the 330N ?
This would save me alot of time when it came to migrating all the settings across, whilst most of the settings are set to default - I still have the DHCP reservations table, client mac address exception list, and the wireless security configurations.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks Mr Donuts, I thought that was probably the case - It's a shame you can't export and import 'general settings' between devices that share common interfaces, but then again...it's not exactly an everyday occurance that people upgrade so I can understand it not existing.
I am thinking about getting a WRT600n to replace my original WRT300n - I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask...but I'll go ahead anyway (admin please move if wrong!)
I'm about to purchase a QNAP Nas to stream high end media to my PS3, the PS3, my PC, and the NAS all have 1 gigabit ethernet ports on - My WRT300n does not!, so a bit of a bottleneck there.
I'm split between the WRT600n or an Apple Airport Extreme, I've not had many problems with my linksys products so far (compared to Belkin...), but then again - I have seen a mixed number of reviews for the Airport extreme, some say it's great, some say it could do better.
I can see the major differences between the 300n and the 600n are the change from 10/100/ to 10/100/1000 ethernet support - which is a must.  Along with the Dual band frequency, this looks like a good perk for the rest of my PC's connected via WiFi - Is there anything else I should be aware of, something that might improve or hinder my intended setup?
    Thanks, Lawrence

  • Directory and routing adventure

I'm supporting two environments (Domino & Exchange) which are currently able to communicate over the Exchange-Notes Connector. There is now requirement to have a support for same email domain (@company.com) in both environments. Now I'm searching the best solution for the inbound mail routing to this domain.
So far I have end up to the following scenarios:
    1. Build a common directory (already done in Domino) which have all addresses and use the "LDAP Routing Query" to relay Exchange emails to Exchange bridgehead servers and Domino messages to Domino SMTP relay.
Unfortunately this option have complex and unreliable steps (directory synchronization over platforms, maintenance of LDAP routing attributes)
    2. Route everything to one environment and to use Exchange-Notes Connector to relay messages to another system.
Unfortunately this option have unnecessary hops, performance and possible email fidelity problems.
    3. Wait AsyncOS 5.5 and to get tiered LDAP lookup to different directories.
Unfortunately this option still have LDAP routing attribute requirement and it can't yet be implemented.
    4. Consolidate everything into one environment.
I only wish I could do that !
Anyone else struggling with such a problems ? Any experiences, ideas or best practices would be highly appreciated

I think Option #1 would be your best bet if option #3 doesn't work for you in the upcoming AsynOS 5.5
Here is how I would proceed with Option #1. You may want to run a sanity check to make sure it achieves what you want and won't cause any problems.
You would first need to implement these steps first before you can make use of the Notes group query:
Does the Email Security Appliance (ESA) support Lotus Notes groups?
No, by default, Lotus Notes uses a group structure that is not compatible with the ESA's group query
    mechanism.
If you wish to use groups with Lotus Notes you MUST add an attribute to the user object to query
against. Typically, users have used the description field to store group information. You can modify the schema to include a new one.
An example of an entry that would work for a domino server:
    User Entry
    dn:cn=FnameLname,ou=Users,dc=example,dc=com
    objectClass: top
    objectClass: person
    objectClass: organizationalPerson
    objectClass: inetOrgPerson
    cn: Fname Lname
    sn: Lname
    givenName: Fname
    uid: FLastname
    mail: [email protected]
    description: AVONLY
    Example Filter
    (&(mail={a})(description={g}))
    1. "System Administration > LDAP > LDAP Profile" for the Domino server that has all the Lotus Notes recipients.
    2. Verify the "ldap group" can successfully look up all the Notes recipients. It should fail on any Exchange users since those don't exist there.
    3. Submit and Commit the ldap group changes
    4. Go to "Network > Listeners > Inbound Listener". Click on the "ldap queries" at the bottom and enable the ldap group that you created in step #2.
    5. Submit and Commit changes.
    6. Go to "Mail Policies > Incoming mail Policies". Create a new policy called "Domino-Users". Then select "recipient" and choose the ldap group query memberships.
For example, if an incoming Lotus Notes recipient comes in, you verify if this recipient can be found in the Domino directory. If there is a match, then "Domino-Users" mail policy is applied to this message.
If not, for example, it's an Exchange recipient, then it goes to the "Default" at the bottom of the "Incoming Mail Policies"
    7. In the content filter of the "Domino-Users", you would create a content filter that would send the message to the Domino mailserver.
    8. If you want, for the Default policy, have a content filter that delivered the mail to the Exchange server.
    That should be it.
Let me know if this would get you the results that you needed.

  • SMTP route priority

    Hi,
I've a general question about SMTP routes. Suppose, that I've 3 SMTP routes
    - Domain foo.bar, configured via Network->SMTP routes
    - Domain *.foo.bar, configured via Network->SMTP routes
    - Domain foo.bar, configured via LDAP routing query
Which one has the highest priority?
    Thanks,
    Axel

LDAP routing has priority over static SMTP routes except in the instance where you have defined the ALL: route which then overrides LDAP.

  • Newbie question - Auto enter into textfield via SQL

I am not even sure what to put for the subject!!
I have a page that creates a new record in our leave tracking database.
The users are logging in via LDAP
The username is also in my employee table and can be used with a where statement
    where "USERNAME" like :APP_USER
I want to bring in FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME and automatically put them in the form so the user does not have to.
I tried making the TEXTFIELD source a SQL query and I can get the data to load. When the record is submitted the data is not inserted into the new record it is blank.
The only way I can get the data to load is if the field source is set to Database Column.
My next efforts were to try and get the default value to be inserted via a SQL statement but as there is no option for SQL only it appears that I have to put in a PL/SQL Function body or expression.
I know that there needs to be a Declare then Begin and End but I do not know the syntax for what should be a reasonable simple query.
the sql for the records is
    select "FIRSTNAME"
    from "NWOCASTAFF"
    where "USERNAME" like :APP_USER
the field I am trying to insert this default value is
    P2_FIRST_NAME
    it is a Text Field
I hope that someone can help me with this.
    A small PS
If I wanted the text that is inserted to be Title Case how would I do that, with a format mask or is there some function like upper() which I can use.
    thanks
    John MP

    Scott
Thanks for the code, it works perfectly! The field must be set to display as a textfield but other than that it is exactly what I need.
there is another thread that goes down the computation route
Query to set item default value
I may pursue that route if I find the default value SQL query to be too restrictive.

  • Duplicate quarantine messages

    Hello all,
We recently just configured and put into production a C150, upgraded from a C10. Ironport Spam Quarantine has been activated. We received our first batch of quarantine messages and there appear to be duplicates.
    Example:
    [email protected]
    harry%40abc.com
Anyone have any clues as to what's causing this and how to resolve it?

Yeah, instead of consolidation of emails in the End User Quarantien section (Monitor > quarantine), I would disable that and do the email alias consolidation using the ldap routing query.
Call support if you need help with that.

  • ESA: outbound messages

    Hello,
We've deployed ESA in out customer network.
All incomming connection comes to ESA, ESA queries LDAP (Route Query) and reroutes messages to specific servers (mailhost attribute).
In our SMTP Routes no entries.
    Incomming messages works fine.
But outgoing not. Problem is that we need t send all outgoing messages to specific relay. We cannot use DNS.
So when i add smtp route (All Other Domains) i got situation when all incomming messages goes to the server specified in SMTP Route. However in message tracking i see that ESA got mailhost attribute from LDAP.
    Who can explain, please?

    Hi Sergey,
I think the two key points are highlighted/underlined below. I took this information from the Advance Guide.
    https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/esa/esa7.6/ESA_7.6_AdvancedGuide.pdf
    SMTP Routes Overview
The SMTP Routes table is read from the top down for every email delivery.
Otherwise, the system performs a regular MX lookup on the domain of the Envelope Recipient.
    Default SMTP Route
You can also define a default SMTP route with the special keyword ALL. If a domain does not match a previous mapping in the SMTP Routes list, it defaults to being redirected to the MX host specified by the ALL entry

  • Select query in routing(operation,sequence)

    Hello frds,
i am into change routing BDC actually i want a select query .....for like existing of operation for a particular sequence in routing....
if i will found operation for particular sequence i will run the bdc code lese i will exit...any one can help me...
just provide me a query....to check existnece of operation for a particular sequence......ASAP...

Why on earth would you want to keep the queries separate? As Tom Kyte would say, databases are born to join!
Providing emp_id has an index on it (and it should, assuming it's the table's primary key!) your "complex" (or, what I would call simple*), it'll most likely be faster than doing it separately. You've not got the context switches for one thing.
If you want to see what the optimizer does with your query, you should run a trace on the query. An explain plan would give you an idea of what it's going to do, too.
In general, doing something like this procedurally is going to almost certainly be worse than doing it in SQL (and by worse, I mean slower).
    * I'd hate to see what you'd call some of the monster queries I work with, if you think that query is complex!

  • Query for BOM Allocations to Master Routes

I just acquired Query Building permissions and the involved transactions in SAP-PP.  I have access to the sandbox (QAS) to build them before they go into production.  I have a good technical background but never built a query in SAP.  I should be able to catch on fairly quick.
**I would like to create a query that reports which material numbers have BOM components that are/aren't allocated.  Is this possible where do I start?
**Are there any threads in this forum that show good query information in regards to production versions, master routes, BOMs, etc. that someone can point me to?

    Hi Lucas,
Sorry for the late reply. I was travelling yesterday. Was able to create your query in quickviewer.
Table I used for Joining are as follows:
    Mast: Material to BOM Link
    STPO: BOM Item
PLMZ: Allocation of BOM to operation
    PLPO: Task List - operation/activity
    Join Condition:
    MAST-STLNR to STPO-SLNR
    STPO-STLTY to PLMZ-STLTY
    STPO-STLNR to PLMZ-STLNR
    STPO-STLKN to PLMZ-ZUONR
    PLMZ-PLNTY to PLPO-PLNTY
    PLMZ-PLNNR to PLPO-PLNNR
    Selection Screen:
    Material Number: MAST-MATNR
    Plant: MAST-WERKS
    List Fields:
    Material Number: MAST-MATNR
    Plant: MAST-WERKS
    BOM Item Number: STPO-POSNR
    BOM Component: STPO-IDNRK
    Component Quantity: STPO-MENGE
    Component Unit: STPO-MEINS
    Operation Assignment: PLPO-VORNR
I guess this will help you in getting your query set. In case you need to change the field you can do as per your requirement. As told earlier once you are ok with Quickviewer you can convert it to SAP Query from SQ01 transaction.
    Hope this helps you out.
    Best regards,
    Kiran
