Rovi TotalCode plugin demo

Hi all - just a heads-up about the Rovi plugin demo.
I've been looking for the best solution for DCP creation - my local film club has an NEC projector attached to a DCP server, and they're looking for ways to convert all input to DCP. It'll play DVDs and Blu-rays as well as DCP, but I think they'd like to take advantage of the whole "total program" environment.
Anyway, I was exploring various options of DCP creation packages, and one option was the Rovi/MainConcept plugin for PPro.
I fired up my "demo/testing" project, and imported about 7 minutes of MPG from another job. I wasn't interested in high quality at this stage, i just wanted to see the end result, and provide a DCP on a hard drive to see if it would import to the film club's DCP server. So far, so good. The demo puts a watermark in the top rh corner and limits AAC / Dolby audio to 30 seconds. Fair enough, that's fine for testing purposes. The export went fine and I'll test the DCP import in a few days.
Only problem - the demo watermark appeared on ALL footage in the project - not just the footage in the sequence I was using. I tried an export NOT using the Rovi plugin, but the watermark was still there. I had to exit PPro, uninstall the plugin, and restart PPro. Fine, the plugin and its watermark were gone - but so were my renders of footage - lots of yellow and red lines above the timeline, so now I have to render those sequences again.
It seems to be a good product that does what it claims, but I'm not happy about it affecting footage in other sequences, and having to re-render said footage after removing the plugin. Lucky I only opened a test project, and not a real one.

Yeah, that's what I should have done.
I keep a project labelled "Demo" for exactly this sort of experimentation - but I don't always clean it out after I'm finished.

Getting rid of Waves Plugin Demos

I downloaded Waves Diamond demo and tried it out. It didn't float my boat and I let it expire. Now if I accidently click on the Waves demos, Logic crashes. I want to totally get rid of the plugin demos. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Go to /Library/Audio/Components/Plug-ins and drag all of the Waves items to the trash. Make sure you also remove the WaveShell-AU component (same directory). That will fix your Logic issue.
There will also be a Waves directory in your Applications folder; you can trash that too if you want to completely remove everything.

About expired plugin demos in Logic

Yo! Just wondering if anyone has any insight into the inner workings of our machines. I had a plugin that I wanted to try when I had a meaningful moment to put it to the test. There came a moment, but that moment was beyond the trial period. As we all know, I can't reinstall the demo because there is apparently a file somewhere that says that I can't. My question is, is this info stored in one general place or is it a part of a single file that apple has designated to store similar info. I am also very aware that there are invisible files in folders throughout the computer that are present for systems purposes. Is this method used to tag the computer. Can someone provide insight? Will b Much Appreciated

You're seriously asking to circumvent a protection mechanism on a public forum? Ask the plugin developer for an extended trial period and be thankful if you're not banned from Apple discussions.

Trying to install a Demo Plug-in...

I just got a free demo Filter plug-in for 3D Shadow effects from a company called Andromeda Software Inc. The instructions say that when you go to install it, it will look for a Photoshop folder called Plug-ins, if it doesn't find this folder, it says you can put the path name of where it needs to go for your particular product. It says that this plug-in will work for Photoshop Elements 1.0 and above. So I told it to install to the folder named Plugins within the Adobe folder on my C Drive. The filter is not showing up in the filter menu in Elements when I open PSE up. I'm going to call them on Monday if I can't get an answer to this now. Does anyone have any experience with installing plug-ins for Elements and can you tell me what I may be doing wrong.

Thanks for your response. I finally installed this Plugin Demo to this path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins
and it worked.
This is a 3D shadow filter. It seems very complicated and on top of that you have to simplify the layer you're on before you can even work with it.
Does anyone know how to be able to get like a 90 degree drop shadow effect in PSE but more with like a Layer Style rather than a filter so I don't have to simplify the layer to apply it?
I just want to say have a rectangle 2D, and then cast a drop shadow perpendicular to the object (rectangle in this case). It makes the object look 3D in a sense. Is there a neat add-in/plug-in for something like this? Or can you do it within the stock PSE?
You can do it in Word real easy, but not so easy here in PSE I guess?

CS6 H.264 Blu-ray 5.1 Dolby

I don't seem to have the option of Dolby Digital 5.1 sound export from the H 264 Blu-ray preset.
I have not activated the Surcode plugin yet ( I'm waiting for the code email) but the Mpeg 2 dvd and Blu-ray give the 5.1 option.

In fact, we discover that the lack of MPEG2 support will be resolved in CS6, but AA CS6 still do not import, but PPro CS6, Encore, AE, will import with no problems , and even that infamous error when importing a project from 5.5 , or CS5 in CS6, he says that there are no importers to decode the content, resolves, it is clear that using external plugins like I use, (Boris, Magic Bullet, Mojo, etc.) must be also be installed on CS6, finally, the CS6 is now open smoothly projects with contents in MPEG2 normally as did the previous one.
The problem is that this solution costs about $ 1000 .... !! yes ... unfortunately ... This price is high as this way when purchasing all the modules that includes all exporters standards for digital cinema, as Motion JPEG and other formats used in Digital film.
To work without need this exporters, the amount paid is less.
The whole problem in this story is that WE HAVE TO BUY, AND PAY more money for a software package of plugins to do something that the old versions were already done .
I think it must have a trick with the Adobe for the behalf of MainConcept, to increase their sales.
For CS5 and 5.5 the version of this package is the MainConcept Suite 5.1 and the CS6 version changed its name to ROVI TOTALCODE V6.01.
Another benefit from ROVI TotalCode is the full support of CUDA hardware from NVIDIA. It can be used to import, play the timeline smootthy , better than Mercury Engine, and
can be use to export ( acceletated presets on Rovi´s Settings pane ) , that cut off substantial time in our work.
I hate to accept that this new purchace was the only solution we learn after months of researh , to get this solutions for us here. The most part of our material is in MPEG, SD or HD.
We here love MPEG !!!!

So with this solution , all tha way we are accostumated, returns. The PProCS6 goes directely to Encore, to generate our BluRays and DVD etc ...

Sony F5 footage crashing Premiere CS6

Need some urgent help. Shooting on the Sony F5 tomorrow. Shot some test footage. The footage is XAVC 1080p 4.2.2 100Mbps
I import the footage (drag and drop) and it appears and shows in Pr. But when I try and do anything with it, it crashes. I have a fully up to date version of Pr.
Switched to Mpeg2 50Mbps and it works fine. But what if I want to shoot XAVC???

Got a friend to look into it:
Basically it's such a new format that the import plugins arn't out yet.
For FCPX Sony has an XAVC plugin that enables native editing but its only a beta which I can't find, was meant to be released in jan but still not out.
For premier there's a plugin called Rovi totalcode that works with XAVC. Bad news is its $349!! (PC only)

Long time to open Garageband 08

Garageband is taken an exceptionally long time to load up. I was initially getting a Error message advising me check it was installed properly.
After some investigating I found an old Vst plugin demo was still installed, and after deleting the program Garageband started to load again. Ever since though it has been painfully slow to initialize!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

are you fully up-to-date in both system as well as GB software? 10.5.2 and GB4.1.2 offered incredible speed increases in load time (like down to 5 seconds in my tests, from launch to use)

Rolling pictures in my header

In my header is there a way to point to a directory with images that it will rotate through all of the images based on a user defined time?

SUSE SLES9 64-bit and J2SDK 64-bit

Creative Cloud 2014 processes not stopping

I am running Creative Cloud 2014 on a Windows 7 system with nVidia Quadro 2000 display adapter. Since upgrading to CC 2014 I've noticed that a lot of my Creative Cloud programs (Premiere, Audition and After Effects, Media Encoder, and I'm guessing others as well, though i haven't tested) refuse to fully close once I've exited the program.
What this means is that I can't re-launch the program again unless I go into Windows Task Manager and manually force the Premiere Pro (or other Adobe-related process) to stop. I've searched other posts here and found one other person experiencing the same problem, but they didn't find a solution.
I've tried uninstalling and re installing, not only the effected programs, but also the Creative Cloud Application Manager, to no avail.
What is going on? Anyone?

we installed Rovi TotalCode 6.0.1, and we able to import/export. But it represent another US$999,00 with Dolby 5.1 support, a amount o money that defineely we wont spend. The trial version of TotalCode . worked. The output files , have a watermark , but we could deal with .

Display a warning when leaving a page

Hi,
I have created multiple APEX pages and would like to create a warning when leaving a page when changes are made to the page. Iam new to APEX and javascripts. We are using Oracle APEX 4.1, connecting to a 11 g database and Internet Explorer 8.0. I have seen postings from older versions of APEX and have attempted to use the logic and receive multiple screen prompts. I appreciate your assistance with this challenge.

How to make an image map rotate?

I have 4 images and how do i make them rotate with the image map part. Rotation removes the image mapping when it is done with Jquery. Help

No sound on main movie

I authored a Blu-ray in Encore CS 6. It has a motion menu and two timelines: one for the main movie and one for a bonus feature. The video for the two timelines are dynamically linked from Premiere Pro CS6, and the audio for the timelines and the menu are 5.1 AC3 files imported as assets. The sound was rendered out of Premiere Pro using Rovi TotalCode using the same settings as I did for the bonus feature audio and menu audio, which were also rendered out of Premiere using TotalCode.
I get sound on the menu, sound in the bonus feature, but no sound for the main movie. I'll get sound if I have the dynamically linked audio in the timeline, but doing so renders out in stereo.
I've tried creating another timeline and using the ac3 audio, but to no avail. The ac3 files works as I can listen to it in VLC Player. It does not work in Encore whether I scrub the timeline or not, and there is no sound when it is burned to Blu-ray whether I use Cyberlink Power DVD on my computer or my Blu-ray player in my living room.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to use Sony DVD Architect Pro again. I'd like to use Encore because of its single multi-page menu feature.

I've still been experiencing problems with this in CS6...
The dynamic link is, in fact, the culprit. I opened the project files as text only, and they are xml tags. In another post, I read that while the entire suite uses XML to build the project file (making them more space efficient as well as keeping duplicates of large media to a minimum), they don't use the same tagging. While the dynamic link "server" can read most of the files from anywhere, there are some pieces that are not duplicated across programs. Between Premiere and Encore for instance... ...The audio is KEPT AS PART OF THE VIDEO TIMELINE when you import a premiere sequence. They haven't been able to explain why, but I'd hazard a guess... ...From the way their multi-cam process works on a PER TRACK basis, I'd wager that they didn't separate the definition of the TRACK to include whether it was AUDIO or VIDEO. While this allows you to Multicam both, and jump between sources really easily, moving from one program to the next can be a problem when the second program needs to know exactly what type of track it's dealing with. This is probably the main reason I've never been able to get an audio track actually show up in encore when I dynamically link it from premiere. On top of that... ...You need to make sure you render your audio out completely. Some ask why, and the only answer I can give (guessing here) is that the referenced (right back to the XML) preview files in your project do not render audio and video together into one file (your video output is a file that calls up another file)... ...they reference one file from another. If there is no actual audio file to reference (a separately rendered audio file) aside from the original, there is no audio reference listed in the xml, and it doesn't carry over to encore. With video, you have a definitive reference always; the original. But the audio needs to pass through premiere into a referenced file for encore to read it. Understandable... Why such a screw up? It's not. Imagine working with a project where you have 5 cameras (all with audio) and 1 externally mixed audio source. Once you synchronize it all, you create the cuts, and you put in any effects, you'll have numerous references in your sequence for the video and the audio. With video, there is a preview rendered at the start, or at least referenced at the start (the video streams from your files). But with audio, whether you have one track or seven, it all gets mixed into a single output. This output references different points in your files, and will be choppy at best on the fastest system; getting worse with every source or audio track you add. Once the mix is rendered, however, it is a single file and outputs just fine. Encore will only accept this type. It doesn't have the programming to work with effects and clips from multiple audio files on a single track. So... ...you either render the whole preview out, with audio rendering, or you don't get your sound. Adobe needs a rendered product to actually render a product... ...What else did they screw up? Not much, but they certainly took the industry a few steps backward in their design of basic functions. It isn't intuitive. That means you actually have to handle a lot more on your own. In doing so, they've cut down on the space you need for files, and trusted you to know what you are doing. Did they screw it up? Not sure. On the one hand, they let you decide when to render. On the other hand, they don't really warn you about dynamic linking audio. It works perfectly everywhere you use effects and multi-reference tracks. It doesn't work as well when you need a single output stream, unless you've already made that output stream. An update to the dynamic link might include a check for a rendered audio preview that would render, save, then link. It would be a small improvement, and might completely remove the "BUG". I put it in quotes because it isn't exactly a mis-code, or a malfunction. It's simply a caveat of the working function.

Quick Synk Technology for Adobe Premiere.

I am working right now on PC workstation ASUS P8P67 PRO (REV 3.0), I7 2600K, 16 Gig RAM and Matrox MXO2 Mini with MAX and Adobe CS 5.5 Master Collection.
My friend using a MB and processor suporting Quick Synk Technology and edit with Edius. He is not using any hardware for Edius. He is using this same AVCHD video from this same camcorder I am using.
He tells me that his export time using Quick Synk Technology for H.264 Blu-ray format video is twice faster then my with my Matrox MXO2 with MAX.
My question is: Is upgrating to MB and processor with Quick Synk Technology to keep working with Adobe CS 5.5 will help me my workflow and export time or Quick Synk Technology realy works with Edius only?

Instability (freezing) and crashing from Macbook Pro transferred over to brand New iMac 2013 i7.

I had a Macbook pro I installed some Plugin Demos (red giant and Filmconvert) a few days later one of my projects with multiple clips and lots of files in it crashes repeatedly after about 10 minutes of editing. on my older macbook pro it would freeze playback rendering me incapable of moving the head in the timeline. I would still be able to apply filters to a clip drag in a new clip etc however i would be doing it blind and I would not have the ability to move to a different part of the timeline (like the beginning or end). I contacted one of the techs and they blamed the plugins. we removed them and it seemed to work. however it didn't. on the same project it would continue to freeze after about 10 minutes of editing not at any specific place in the timeline but it would always freeze eventually. I already knew that my macbook was getting old so I invested in a new IMac 27 inches I7 Processor 8GB of ram and 4GB of GPU ram. i launch the same project in adobe premiere on this new computer and i run into the same issue. I attempted to reinstall and that made it worse. now after i ran into the same issue i was not even able to force quit the program. I restarted the computer and tried to run the program again but i still have the same issue. what do i do? is there something that i can do beyond uninstalling to reset whatever damage the 3rd party plugins did? is there something wrong with the particular project that I am working on that is causing the crash?

I echo the opinions above. The PC usually needs a fresh ground up install but the Mac doesn't. Just delete off anything you don't want any longer and enjoy your new iMac.
