Rows and Columns Help

Previously in AI9 when I wanted to modify a matrix I had created using Rows and Columns, I would select the cells of the matrix and then click on Rows and Columns. Now I have CS4 and the documentation says I should be able to do the same thing using Area Type Options. However, when I select the cells of a matrix that I created in AI9, Area Type Options is ghosted out. How do I modify this matrix?

I would copy and paste in front before I try this.
Then select the text that is place the text cursor in a the text frame you want to split or select it with a selection tool.
then see if the Type>Area Text Options are available. They should be.
If not that means they are object paths not Area Text.
Click the Frame with the Area Text tool to make it a Area Text Frame now the options should be available.
The way to tell if these are object paths is to select one and go to the Object >Path>Split into Grid and if that is available then it is an object path.
The text engine and this feature has changed in AI CS1 and that is probably the cause for the translation to get a bit messed up.

Help! Inserting a 1-D comment array into a 2-D string array at specified row AND column

Hello everyone,
I am writing a 2-D string array to excel and i need a way to add comments to my file like this:
SLAM NAME G Level Comments
1 RALF 26
1 RALF 26
1 RALF 26
1 RALF 26
For some reason, i cannot specify a row AND column to write because:
When i use replace array subset it only replaces 1 element at my index.
When i use replace array subset with a loop, it creates empty spaces until it reaches the end of the array it is replacing.
When i use Insert into array: i cannot wire 2 inputs for row and column.
In my complete VI i will need to write from row 1-1001, a different comment from 2-2002, a different comment from 3-3003, etc until a stop condition is met so i need to figure out how to do this programatically and not have it replace any elements outside of the range or it will override previous commetns.
I am at a loss of what to do. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I made a small subtile change to yur VI and now it replaces all values of the 4th column…
THINK DATAFLOW!
Use shift registers when you need to propagate values from one loop iteration to the next!
USE/LEARN DEBUGGING TECHNIQUES!
There are tools like probes and highlight to understand your VI execution and to find problems…
Go through all those free online courses offered by NI!

Lock rows and columns header in a table view report. It is possible?

hi,
I have a Dashboard that displays a report in "Table View" with many rows and columns.
Is it possible to set a lock on the rows and columns like Excel?
This would have blocked such headers that contain attributes and measures and to browse the report (eg with a scroll bar) had always viewed the headers.

Hi, I would like to know how can i break the value for a row and column once i have converted the image to the array. I wanted to make some modification on the element of the array at a certain position. how can i do that?
At the moment (as per attachhment), the value of the new row and column will be inserted by the user. But now, I want to do some coding that will automatically insert the new value of the row and the column ( I will use the formula node for the programming). But the question now, I don't know how to split the row and the column. Is it the value of i in the 'for loop'? I've tried to link the 'i' to the input of the 'replace subset array icon' , but i'm unable to do it as i got some error.
Please help me!

Thanks for your reply.Sorry for the confusion.
I manage to change the array element by changing the row and column value. But, what i want is to allow the program to change the array element at a specified row and column value, where the new value is generated automatically by the program.
Atatched is the diagram. I've detailed out the program . you may refer to the comments in the formula node. There are 2 arrays going into the loop. If a >3, then the program will switch to b, where if b =0, then the program will check on the value of the next element which is in the same row with b but in the next column. But if b =45, another set of checking will be done at a dufferent value of row and column.
I hope that I have made the problem clear. Sorry if it is still confusing.

Getting Row and Column in ADF RC

Hi,
I have an ADF RC form with a table control on it. I need to find the row and column of the cell where the user has clicked. I am able to get the row using getSelectedRow() but am not able to get the column of the cell. Could anyone please help?

I need the coordinates. eg. My table is something like this
Country Region City Value1 Value2 Value3 Total
AAAAA BBBBB XXX 10 15 30 55
EEEEE YYY 5 2 15 22
TOTAL 15 17 45 77
etc.
If the user clicks on any cell in the country column he can add countries, if he clicks on any cell in the region column, he can add regions. The behavior changes for value1, value2, value3... if he clicks in any of these columns he can add value4, value5 columns. If he clicks on the actual data, he gets another screen.

Goto row and column in a JTextArea

Does anybody here know the correct procedure to get to a specific row and column in a JTextArea? I want to be able to do something like this:
replace(char c, int row, int column) - where the original character at row,column will be replaced with c.
I know that in C++, there is a windows console library that lets u do this, but there isn't one in java so I'm trying to get around it using a JTextArea.

Set maximum matrix row and column size

I hope someone can help me with this. Is there any way to set the row and column size of a matrix control? I have not been able to find a solution. The only way I've been able to set the size is by resetting matrix to its previous state if the user inputs a value outside of the bounds I would like to set. This is done in the 'value changed' event case.
The matrix is large and therefore I cannot increase the size of the control to be the maximum size and then hide the row and column index controls. These have to be displayed.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here's a quick and dirty way.
Simply hide the index controls and replace them with some fake numeric controls and set the data range accoding to your requirements.
In the attached example (LV8.0), the fake index controls are limited to 0..2, the array size is 5x5 and the displayed array portion is 3x3. Seems to work fine.
(Of course you could add a bit more code to set the limits automatically based on the various sizes.)
You could also make it more fancy and turn the entire thing into an Xcontrol.

How can I preserve row and column addresses on multiple cells at once in Numbers?

How can I preserve row and column addresses on multiple cells at once in Numbers 3.2.2? I do a lot of rearranging and sorting and want to reference cells in other sheets. After entering the formulas (example: '=Sheet1::Table 1::H126') I will sort the table and the formulas will not move with the sort. I think I can fix this by going cell by cell checking the 'preserve row' and 'preserve column' boxes when editing the formula. I want to avoid having to go one by one. I know that checking the boxes creates a formula like this: '=Sheet1::Table 1::$H$126' I have also tried entering this manually and filling down but it doesn't include the preservations (the $$) in the autofill. If there is another way to remedy my sorting problem that would also be welcomed!

In both cases it is not asked if multiple cells can be set to....
That is a given.
Step back a second... It is like selecting multiple cells and setting the text color of the currently selected cells to red. This can be done. More than one cell at a time modified because they are currently selected.
Whats is being asked is: if more than one cell is selected at the same time can the settings "Preserve Row" an / or "Preserve Column" be applied. No table I put up will help with that question.

I need to freeze first two rows and columns in a large JTable. I found ways to freeze either a row or a column, but not both at the same time.

KF in row and column

Hi,
There is a scenario where, infoprovider has the following Info objects:
Characteristic Info object 'Type' has the values: A, B.
'A' represents Plan and 'B' represents Actuals.
And there are Key Figures(KF) 'Quantity1' and 'Quantity2'.
Now, I need to display a report with the below Format:
Plan
Actual
Variance
-|-----||--
Quantity1 | | | |
|------ -|-- ||--
Quantity 2 | | | |
Note: Variance = Plan - Actual.
(KF's in rows and Variance of Plan and Actual in column)
Is this report possible in BI, If so, please let me know as KF is required to be available in Rows and Columns as well.

Hi,
You can create your query in normal way, say Chars in rows and KFs in columns.
In the BEx analyzer, you can swap the axes. This way you can achieve your requirement.

I have a procedure that dynamically reads a schema name and table name from an input table. The code then needs to loop through all rows and columns of each table and output the data. I'm 95% done with what I want to accomplish, but there is one small bug. The line dbms_output.put(*col.column_name* || '',''); ' ||
should refer to something like rec.col.column_name so that it gets the column of the current record. Right now it just displays the column name for each record instead of the actual value. Can anyone help me tweak the code to get the actual value?
