RPC/SOAP-Encoded Web Service with Workshop
Is there anyway to create a RPC/SOAP-Encoded Web Service with Workshop ? There is an "encoding" attribute in the autotype ant task but no corresponding properties in Workshop.
Hi,
Thanks for the reference.
I have checked both in the wsdl and the Soap message,
rpc property effectively means rpc/encoded. Now that
would say that RPC/Literal is not supported ?
Here are what the messages looks like with rpc and
document properties
Thanks all for making this clear.

Change the 'ContextUri' and ServiceUri for a web service with workshop
Hi all,
I've created a web service and its url is set by default by workshop, let's say http://myServer:7001/app/services/myWebService.jws
Is there a way in workshop to modify the url, so that I can call my web service this way :
http://myServer:7001/myCompany/myWebService
Thanks.
BrunoHi Miriam,
As far as I know, this does not exist.
However, if you want to capture user input in a webbased (RIA) application, AJAX may be useful for triggering a process based on user navigation of input from keyboard or mouse.
BTW: in the BPEL4People initiative there is mention of BPEL processes for supporting navigation, i.e. wizard-style user interfaces, which would typically require 'timely' responses.

Web Services with REST, SOAP and JAX-RPC
Hi,
Can somebody who has developed web services extensively comment/suggest a java development environment that works best for developing web services mainly with REST. I've found that Eclipse with Axis2 and Tomcat works well. But I would like to get your opinion on it and some other alternatives.Hi,
Please help me its urgent.
can u give me a detail example how to do Web services
with REST.
Here is my id [email protected]
Thanks in advance.You can do this in many ways. It depends on how heavy your service is. You can write a simple servlet that will take a REST (I'm assuming you know what REST is) request and parses it out, calls a server-side method and generates a REST response.
Another way is to use a web-service container such as AXIS. You can read some examples and documentation on their website. AXIS2 has REST support as well. -
Building client proxies for web services with SOAP attachemtns
Hi all.
I'm currently building a series of web services that take SOAP attachments as
input, but I am unable to generate the java proxies for testing the services via
WebLogic Workshop 8.1. When I attempt to build the proxy, I get the following
error:
Warning: Failed to generate client proxy from WSDL definition for this service.
Suggestion: Please verify the <types> section of the WSDL.
Is there something I need to alter to get this to work, or does workshop not support
client proxies for web services with DataHandler parameters?
Thanks.
-BrianThanks for the help. This is my first web service with SOAP attachments, so it
may have been a long time till I realized that.

Thanks Brian,
The problem is that you are trying to use the "document" soap-style :-)
If you change this to "rpc", you'll should be able to successfully generate
the
client proxy jar. The soap-style property, is at the bottom of the "protocol"
property sheet section, for the JWS.

Calling Web Service with SOAP header from BPEL
Hi,
I am calling a web service (with header information) from BPEL. In the Invoke activity, i created a header variable to pass the header information.
But, when i test the BPEL service, invoke activity fails because the header information is not being passed.
Below is the error message (copied from clipboard).

Web Service with attachments (SOAP with attachments) without PI
Hi,
Is it possible to send across file(say PDF) using ABAP web services. I know it can be done with Java using SOAP with attachments. Is something similar available for ABAP ? since if we transfer raw binary data as type string / xstring it may have a performance impact.
I could not see any option for attachments when using web service wizard from SE37 / soamanager
Note I am not using PI, this Web service would be consumed by a 3rd party tool. There is very little material available on transferring files using web service with SOAP attachments.
Regards,
AdityaHi thanks for your input, but did you have to encode your binary data stream in say Base64 / utf-8 ? Also if you are transferring files in bulk(say 10 -100 files) how does your web service indicate end of one file or what is the best way so as to avoid performance problems.

Java web service with php SOAP client
Hi!
I have a Java web service with a procedure, which connects to a database:
public boolean connectDB(String driver,String host, String user, String password)
try {
Class.forName(driver);
connection =
DriverManager.getConnection
host
, user
, password
return true;
} catch (Exception v_exception) {
System.out.println("connectDB(): " + v_exception);
return false;
If I call it from a PHP client, it doesn't work but doesn't throw any exceptions on the server side.
The way I call it:
$client = new SoapClient
(<path>);
try
$conn=$client->connectDB();
catch (SoapFault $exception)
echo "\nexception: " .$exception;
On the client side, I have an exception, but it's not very detailed:
exception: Object id #2
I had a simple function, too, which returns a string:
public String getTestString()
return "test";
and if I call it from PHP, it's working...
What may be the problem?Neither the simple "setter" methods work.. :(
The php client side:
$string="aladar";
$client->setSample($string);
$return = $client->getSample();
The server side:
public String sample;
public String getSample() {
return sample;
public void setSample(String a_sample) {
sample = a_sample;

SSL Certificate necessary for web Service with HTTPS encoding?
Hi experts,
I wanna create a Web Service with HTTPS. Now when I create an endpoint in Transaction SOAMANAGER, I use "Transport Guarantee Type" HTTPS. I'm a little bit confused, becuase at "Authentication Method I have different options which I don't understand.
At Authentication Method, there are some check boxes.
Whats the difference between HTTP Authentication and Message Authentication?
(Why) can I use User ID/Password as Authentication Method with HTTPS? I think I need X.509 SSL Client Certificate.
What is a Logon Ticket?
Is there a good Documentation in the web, who explains the meaning of the different options and when to use which option?
Thanks and regards,
SebastianHi,
>>>WSDL in Integration Directoryb but that WSDL containt a like staring with the HTTP instead of HTTPS! My question is how to generate a wsdl file with an HTTPS url tot he web service,
you don't use the URL from ID - you need to create one yourself and put it there in the generator

How to create document/literal web services with WLS7
How do you create document/literal web services with WLS7 ( not workshop)
- Is it possible with servicegen and stateless EJBs as the backend component?
The default is RPC/Soap-encoded is there anyway to craft the web-services.xml
to make it document/literal
- Is it possible with the JMS-implemented web services - have not tried this yet
- Is there another mechanism?That would be the <web-service> element in the web-services.xml file, of course.

Hi Rich,
Try adding a style="document" attribute to the starting <web-service>
element.
The might be a way to get <servicegen> to do this for you, but I haven't
found
it yet :-)

Issue with calling external web service with authentication details ...
Hi,
I am facing a deployment issue with Oracle ESB. I am trying to call an external Web Service with authentication from ESB SOAP Service. It is working fine with my local ESB version 10.1.3.3.0 Build PCBPEL_10.1.3.3.0_GENERIC_070615.0525; however it is getting an error at our development ESB version 10.1.3.3.1 Build PCBPEL_10.1.3.3.1_GENERIC_RELEASE.

Calling Reporting Services Web Service with jQuery possible?
Hi,
is it possible to call the Reporting Services Web Service with jQuery? If yes, can someone post me a small example?
Background:
My plan is to create a html with a form which is also uploaded then into the reportserver. I open this html later by clicking a link in a report (with gotoURL open.window). The report opens the html inclusive the overtaken of some additional parameters
(reportname, reportdescription). These parameters I will use in the html-form as defaultvalues for the corresponding input-text-fields. Now the user can make some changes (i.e. the decription). With a click on a button I will send the new description to
the Reporting Services Web Service by using the SetProperties method, closing the html-window and reload the report. Important is that I want to upload the html also into the reportserver itself.
I have already found how to consume a web service via jQuery but with the Reporting Services Web Service I did not get it running in my tests.
I have referenced to the following jQuery.js: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js
Here you can see my tests I made with the results:
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'http://<..>/ReportServer/ReportService2010.asmx/ListChildren',
data: {'ItemPath':'/','Recursive':false},
complete: function(xData, status) {
$('p').html($(xData.responseXML).text()); // result
$("#divStatus").text( status ); // status }
I got a NULL response with Status success. But where are the items?
Another test which should response only one value was that:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
contentType: "text/xml; charset=utf-8",
url: "http://<..>/ReportServer/ReportService2010.asmx/GetItemType",
data: {"Item":"/Development"}, // Development is a Folder in my Reportserver-Root
dataType: "xml",
success: function (msg) {
$("#divResult").html(msg.responseXML);
error: function (data, status, error) {
$("#divResult").html("WebSerivce unreachable<br> <br>" + data.responseXML + "<br> <br>(" + error + ")");
Here I got an [object Error]
And here my last test:
var soapMessage = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>\
<soap:Envelope \
xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" \
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" \
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">\
<soap:Body>\
<GetItemType xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/sql/ReportingServer">\
<ItemPath>/Development</ItemPath>\
</GetItemType>\
</soap:Body>\
</soap:Envelope>';
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
contentType: "text/xml; charset=utf-8",
url: http://<..>/ReportServer/ReportService2010.asmx?wsdl,
data: soapMessage,
dataType: "xml",
success: processSuccess,
error: processError
function processSuccess(data, status, req) {
if (status == "success")
$("#response").text($(req.responseXML).find("Type").text());
function processError(data, status, req) {
alert(req.responseText + " " + status);
Here I got an "Undefined error"
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Web services with servicegen i Weblogic 7
I am trying to create web services with Weblogic's tool servicegen and
ANT. It works great until I have a web service method that return a PK
class of an EJB. I get the error "Error: bean property and public
field found with the same name: id" (full stacktrace below). After
some investigating I found out that it was my PK class that was the
bad guy. But my PK class MUST have the field "id" public, otherwise
ejbc complains...
Am I doing anything wrong or does anyone have a solution?

weblogic.xml.schema.binding.BindingException: Error: bean property and
public field found with the same name: idWeb services can only be published to BEA if you install Apache SOAP on BEA and use the Apache SOAP option of JDeveloper. The J2EE Web Services implementation framework is specific to Oracle9iAS.
The PL/SQL Web Services server implementation is based on the J2EE Web Services option and as a result is not really portable to BEA.
To publish a PL/SQL Web service on BEA with JDeveloper you would have to write the Java wrapper code to invoke the stored procedure using standard JDBC and then publish that Java class as a Web service using Apache SOAP. Then if you had Apache SOAP installed on BEA you would be set.
Portability of Web services implementations is a big feature coming with JAX-RPC - currently what most vendors have is interoperability between implementations because of things like SOAPBuilders and WS-I. When JAX-RPC becomes part of J2EE 1.4 roughly in June and vendors start putting out implementations on it you should get closer to portability.
In the meantime, the easiest way to get portability is to use the same SOAP server on both servers - Apache SOAP is a good example.
Hope this helps.
