Rpcclientaccess value blank on Active DAG member - normal?

Hi,
I decomissioned a Ex2010 server after moving all the mailboxes over to a new server in the same site a few weeks previously. Exchange was un-installed with no issues and no refernces were left in AD.
Now, even though the mailboxes are accessible in Outlook on the existing profiles, I'm unable to set up a new profile as it defaults to the old server name, which no longer exists. Also, the users (thankfully only 3 on this DB) Blackberrys have stopped working.
Done some troubleshooting and found that the BES is still seeing the old FQDN for these users. Upon checking the mailstore on the server, I found that its LegacyDN shows the old FQDN and that RcpClientAccessServer is blank. This mailstore is the active member
of a DAG set up after the move so, it is normal for this to be blank?
If not, would setting this to the correct FQDN help rectify the profile and BB resolver issue or would I need to change the LegacyDN as well?
The Server is running Ex2010 SP1 with all roles (Its a small remote office so this is suffices).
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
As far as I know, the RPCClientAccessServer value is established when the database is created.
For more information about the basic rules used for determining the value, you can refer to the partition named configure your mailbox database in the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee332317(v=exchg.141).aspx
Thus, it’s not normal for the value to be blank.
We can try Lrok’s suggestion to set the value.
Please note that we should recreate the profile after we change the value to ensure client connectivity.
Best regards,

  • Outlook not switched over to active DAG member after failover

I have a 2 server DAG stretched across sites for DR.  Both of these servers are multi-role and have the HT, CAS, and MBOX roles.  Everything with the DAG seems to be working fine, as does what turned out to be an accidental failover to the remote
site.  A fail back also went fairly smoothly.
However, I've now discovered that some Outlook clients switched over to the DR server automatically and now they will not switch back.  I will come out right away and say that I do not have a CAS array.  I just learned about the CAS array while
researching the problem.  After refreshing my own mailbox profile, everything swapped back, but obviously I don't want to go around everywhere making that change.  I don't even know how many people are still connecting to the DR server.  In
fact, the only problem with the people that are connecting to the DR server is a little extra latency.
Obviously, I would like this to work better, and would like a good way to get the outlook users swapped back to where they should be right now.

There is a public folder and it is on the same server as the mailboxes.

  • Active directory member;range=0-999 issue

Has anyone else run into a problem with active directory and
it returning the member attribute with the range attached? I am
running into this problem as discussed in a microsoft article (see
below). The data comes back fine and I get all the records I need.
BUT... the problem is the column name is returned as
"member;range=0-999" instead of just member as in a normal active
directory query. The problem is it has that semicolon in the column
name so trying to loop through the query or get to that data keeps
breaking it. So it is there, I just can't get to it. I have tried
escaping the semicolon or aliasing the column name, but I just keep
running into problems. I am hoping someone else has run up against
this or knows ways to get around invalid column names in a query.
If I have a resultset for a query that has a bad column name, how
can I get to that data?
When an Active Directory server returns the values of the
member attribute as the result of a directory search query, its
behavior varies depending on whether the total number of attribute
values for that object exceed the maximum limit on values
retrieved. For example, if a distribution list on a Windows 2000
Server contains 1000 or fewer member values, a search query will
return all of the values in a single call. However, if the list
contains 2497 member values, the first call to the search query
function will return the member attribute with no values, and an
additional member;range=0-999 attribute that contains the first
1000 member values. To retrieve the next group of member values,
the search query should be repeated using a range specifier that
begins at the attribute number one past the number of the previous
group returned. In this example, the search query function would
request the member;range=1000-* values, which would return the
member;range=1000-* attribute with no values and a
member;range=1000-1999 attribute with the next 1000 values. This
process is repeated until the last group of values is retrieved.
The end range on the last group retrieved from the server would be
indicated by an asterisk (*) in the returned attribute name.

I found I was able so solve this using the method found at
    the following address:

  • DAG member, PF database host, and hub maintenance (6hr power-off)

    Hello,
We have an EPO test coming up in one of our data centers that requires me to power off 2 of our 4 DAG members. In preparation for this I’ve been reading up on DAG member maintenance best practice as well as deconstructing the Start[Stop]DagServerMaintenance.ps1
script. After testing in my lab I noticed that the iteration of Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy is followed by the parameter -ActivationOnly and sets ActivationSuspended to True. Why only suspend copy activation and not database copy processes? Does the script
assume that DAG member maintenance does not include server shutdown or is suspending database copy processes not actually necessary?
Also, one of the DAG members I have to power off serves 1 of 3 of our PF databases. I’ve noticed that the Start[Stop]DagServerMaintenance.ps1 scripts do nothing for PF databases. Should I just unmount it and rely on standard PF replication to update it when
I mount it back? Do I need to change my databases over to use a different PF database?
The power-off duration is 6 hours so I'm not too worried about log build up. Our CAS servers are VMs and will be “motioned” to our other data center. We have two Hub Transport servers, I plan to simply power one of them off. Am I missing anything?
    Thanks!

    Belinda,
Your understanding and the article you provided on Managing Database Availability Groups seems to be inline with what I've described. However,
just our of curiosity can you or anyone else explain why the script StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1
only runs Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -ActivationOnly? In other words, why does the script only suspend copy activation and not the copy process?
"Did the two Hub Transport servers locate in the same AD site?", yes they are in the same
AD site but different physical locations. The article on HSS helped explain HT HA.
    Thanks again!

  • Error "Value BLANK / SPACE is invalid for acc.asgnmnt.fund" in NWA Conf.

    Hello,
We are currently upgrading to ECC 6.0 (from 4.7c) with EA-APPL 603 (SAPK-60303INEAAPPL) and EA-PS 603 (SAPK-60303INEAPS). When I tried to do network activity confirmation from CJ20N, it gave me an error message "Value BLANK / SPACE is invalid for account assignment fund". But then it posted the confirmation with NO actual costs and set the network activity system status to CNF. However, from CN25, with the same error, no confirmation is posted. Had anyone ever have this error from PS perspective (or perhaps in other module)? FYI - no material components assigned to NWA, hence no PR/PO from NWA. Also, FM is activated in our environment.

    Hi Satya,
Basically the error is because of Funds Management which you have activated. Please check the note 1268001, 701291, 558295 & 936658 but i dont know will this be helpful or not.

  • Disabling Replication on Active DAG

I have a Exchange 2010 DAG setup with a separate Mapi and Replication network.   I've noticed that replication is enabled on both. Would there be any problem with disabling replication on the MAPI network? This is an active dag with Production Databases
    replicating successfully.

    Hi,
It is recommended to have two NICs for DAG members, one for replication, one for MAPI. Normally, replication is disabled on MAPI network. It is an expected behavior.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • DAG Member Reboot & Outlook Connectivity

Hello. I Have two Exchange 2013 CU3 Standard servers in a DAG.
The servers are running Server 2012 Standard.
We’ve had a few users report that they sometimes encounter an error when trying to attach an Outlook item (e-mail message) to an existing item in a public folder calendar.
The users can attach the item, but when they click on Save, a message stating that “Changes made to the item were lost due to a reconnect with the server.” appears.
The clients are all running Outlook 2010 SP2.
I have determined that in at least one case, and probably a few more, this happened during or shortly after, I was rebooting our passive DAG member as part of the process of installing Microsoft updates on it.
I use round robin DNS to achieve the load balancing needed to provide high availability.
A check on the connectivity status of an Outlook client shows the name of the DNS record associated with this as the proxy server.
The name is essentially “serverLB”.  Since I have DNS records for serverLB that point to the IP address of each DAG members, is it possible that some clients are connecting to the passive node, and, therefore, affected
by it being rebooted?    I’d like to understand how rebooting the passive server causes the problem encountered by the Outlook users.
If you have any insights into that, please share them with me.
    Thanks.

Hi. Thank you for the response.
I have two nodes in the DAG.
The passive server is completely passive - it has no mounted databases.
Please clarify your comment about checking "server health” on the active node when the passive node is rebooting.
What exactly do I look for, and what is the best method of doing this?
As far as checking replication health when the passive node is rebooting, I would expect Test-ReplicationHealth to indicate that replication is failing because one of the servers is rebooting and, therefore, unavailable.
With regards to database copy status, I would also expect that get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus * would report failures since the passive node is unavailable due to the reboot.
Accessing the user mailbox through OWA rather than Outlook is a good idea. I'll try that during our next scheduled reboot. That, however, may not happen for about a week.
I don’t have the money for a hardware load balancing solution, and network load balancing is incompatible with a DAG.
Consequently, round robin DNS is the only option for me.
Please clarify your comment about adding HOST file entries.
Do you mean that if I add two entries for serverLB and the IP address of each server to the HOST file on each client, I could avoid the issue I have asked about?

  • Exchange 2013 - Unbound Stretched Active/Active DAG

I'm designing an Active/Active DAG utilizing a 3-site scenario, with the third site for FSW.
I intend to have 3 CAS+MBX servers in each location.
Site A & B are separately co-located and Site C is geographically distant site for the FSW
Should the WAN connections of Site A go down (for whatever reason), do the passive copies of Site A's DB's on Site B automatically mount?
What happens with the copies in Site A when this is going on, and what occurs when the links are restored? Is there any manual intervention required here and is DAC/Split-Brain syndrome a concern at all?
What if the client doesn't want Auto-failover, can blockautoactivation be set for the passive DB's to -SiteOnly?

    Hi Hayley,
Q:- Should the WAN connections of Site A go down (for whatever reason), do the passive
copies of Site A's DB's on Site B automatically mount?
Yes it could be automatically mount depends on DAC mode, you should enable it by default it is disable.
Q:- What happens with the copies in Site A when this is going on, and what occurs when the links
are restored? Is there any manual intervention required here and is DAC/Split-Brain syndrome a concern at all?
Site A copy would be like Passive Copy which will get the log shipping from Site B once the WAN link will be up and running, as the DAC mode is enable will not allow
the Site A database to mount its database once it will up and running,
You can later change your active copy to Site A.
    Q: - What
if the client doesn't want Auto-failover, can blockautoactivation be set for the passive DB's to -SiteOnly?
Please check the below link for better understanding.

I dont know where i should enter a valid value for fund.
    Thanks for your kind help!
    Chiachen

    Hi Chiachen,
The problem occurred because the functional area is not inherited from the Purchase order during MIRO posting. As a result, error message F6841 is issued.
There are 2 main programs for the FM derivation:
    1. Function Module FM_DERIVE_ACCOUNT_FROM_COBL
    2. Program LFMCOBLF06
The latest notes which affects these 2 programs are 1244381 and 1247982.
Kindly implement these notes using SNOTE.
During this process, it should also bring in all the other pre-requisite notes. Do not worry if the
symptoms described in the notes do not match yours. What's more important is to bring the coding in your system up to date. Please retest MIRO after the notes are applied. Let me know the results.
Check also the notes 17941 and 982511.
    I hope it helps
    Best Regards,

I need what 1th Activity type confirmed (value) are copied in 2th Activitiy type cofirmed inside the one order production, so, both value corfimed are equal and the same time, I had customization all the parameters in resources who standard value key, Formule for processing capacity requirements in concordance with standard value key and the calculation of costs of a work center's activity type.
But in the cofirmation Activity (COR6) the user´s key put Quantity in first Activity manually and execute (enter), and this first quantity activity don´t population the second field activity type.
Insite the Resource the costs formule is:
    Activity type one:  ZPP001
    Activity type two:  ZPP001
    Capacity calculation formule: ZPP001.
    What happen about this fault?

    Hi,
You do not get Second Activity same as first Activity in this scenario.
When we give value in First Activity manually for say about 10 Hrs, it doesn't copy to Second Activity.
As you said Activity 1 and Activity 2 are have same activity types and formulaes then also it will take Actual Values from Master Recipe and will be displayed.
If you want to achieve your requirement you should get ABAP help to write Program. you can use Enhancement.
