RPD and Catalog Upgrade to 11.1.1.6

Hi,
We have a project to upgrade from OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to 11.1.1.6.0. The OBIEE installation is on RHEL 5.8 x86-64 server. I have the following questions reagarding this upgrade.
1) Can I upgrade the RPD and Catalog straight from 10.1.3.4.1 to 11.1.1.6.0 or
2) Do I have to upgrade the RPD and Catalog from 10.1.3.4.1 to a intermediate version of OBIEE 11g say (11.1.1.5.0) and then upgrade it to 11.1.1.6.0?

Follow these steps
1). Go to localDrive:C:\OBIEE11G\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1
2). Open your instanceconfig.xml file
3). Find <CatalogPath> and </CatalogPath> tags
4). Write the new catalong name that you want to create (suppose sh_new) then your tag should look like this
<CatalogPath>C:\OBIEE11G\instances\instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/catalog/obirep</CatalogPath>
5). Save the file and start/re-start the BI presentation service
6). It automatically creates the obirep catalog, once we start our presentation service and you need not to create anything manually.

Migrate OBIEE 11.1.1.3 rpd and catalog to OBIEE 11.1.1.5

Is there is any upgrade process to follow (if so, what they are) to use OBIEE 11.1.1.3 rpd and webcatalog with OBIEE 11.1.1.5 installation.
Is there anything extra needs to be done apart from just about moving them to 11.1.1.5 installed machine and deploy/specify path through Oracle EM Fusion Middleware Control.

OBIEE Repository and Catalog Upgrade(11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.7)

Hi,
I see a lot of documentation on upgrade but I just couldn't find this. I installed OBI 11.1.1.7 and trying to test it on our own repository and reports.
I want to upgrade OBI 11.1.1.5 repository and catalog to 11.1.1.7 and run those in my new installation. Is this possible?

5.12.2 Updating Oracle BI Presentation Catalogs
When updating your Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) software from Release 11.1.1.3.0, 11.1.1.5.0 or 11.1.1.6.x, you must manually update your Oracle BI Presentation Catalogs. Instructions are provided below:
Stop Oracle BI Presentation Services using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
For details, see "Using Fusion Middleware Control to Start and Stop Oracle Business Intelligence System Components and Java Components" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Back up your Release 11.1.1.3.0, 11.1.1.5.0 or 11.1.1.6.x catalogs by using the 7-Zip utility to create a compressed file for it.
Create a backup copy of the instanceconfig.xml file.
The instanceconfig.xml file is located in the ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obipsn (on UNIX operating systems) or ORACLE_INSTANCE\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obipsn (on Windows operating systems) directory.
Change the upgradeAndExit option to true in the instanceconfig.xml file.
Find the following code:
<Catalog>
<UpgradeAndExit>false</UpgradeAndExit>
</Catalog>
Change it to the following:
<Catalog>
<UpgradeAndExit>true</UpgradeAndExit>
</Catalog>
Start Oracle BI Presentation Services using the following OPMN command to update the catalogs:
opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obipsn
For example, on a UNIX operating system:
cd ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin
./opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1
On a Windows operating system:
cd ORACLE_INSTANCE\bin
opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1
After the catalogs are updated, edit the instanceconfig.xml file again and change the upgradeAndExit option back to false.
Restart Oracle BI Presentation Services using Fusion Middleware Control.

Migrating OBIEE 11.1.1.7 RPD and CATALOG

Hi Gurus,
We have two environments in our project DEV and TEST where OBIEE 11.1.1.7 is installed.
We are using weblogic Internal Security in DEV and we have 3 users and a role by name App in DEV.
Now after Migration I am having 3 issues:
1) After deploying DEV RPD in TEST and after restarting the services. I got an issue like Admin user Weblogic is not able to login in to Answers as well as Repository in Online. After my R&D I found that I have to delete all the users in RPD and then restart the services which worked and my Admin user (weblogic) is able to login to answers as well as RPD.
Now my question is: Am I doing it in right way for Repository Migration because if it is correct every time If I have to migrate I have to delete all the users in RPD?
2) Before Migrarting the Catalog we have created the same App role in Test Environment. After migrating the Catalog only the Shared Folders using Catalog Manager Archive/Un-Archive the security configured in DEv against the App in Catalog folders is not migrated but security configured against the App role in RPD Subject areas is migrated. Now my question is how to migrate the catalog folder security also.
3) After checking the Dashboards I can see that I lost all the format changes done in DEV. Format changes are like User preferred currency, Comma separator e.t.c. Now please let me know how to migrate this Format changes.

I have UAT and DEV server,just now IN DEV i have installed obiee11g(11.1.1.5.0) ,software only windows server 2008 64bit mechine and UAT i have obiee11.1.1.3.0 Catalog and RPD. can i deployee UAT Catalog and RPD into DEV server without using UA.exe(upgrade utility)?.

Automate RPD and Catalog Patching in OBIEE 11G

Is it possible to automate the patching process with scripting? This would be the complete cycle: compare, generate xml patch and apply patch. I see that I can script the applying of the patch but need to be able to script the compare.

Yes, You could accomplish this using the OBIEE 11g scripts.
The one place you may want to reconsider the "complete cycle" is when it comes to actually patching the production RPD via automated fashion. I would leave that to remain as a manual redeployment after the patching to some stage folder/area, then manually deploy the RPD. This way you are certain to retain the incremental versioning that is now provided in the Fusion Console EM, etc.

Automation of Lineage RPD Documentation and Catalog Reporting

and the Catalog Reporting automated by clicking a batch file. (i.e, By clicking a batch file it should generate RPD documentation and Catalog Report)
Hint:
For this we need to create a batch file, in this file we will have the details and credentials of the RPD and username and password of the OBIEE instance where reports are existing.
Once we click that batch or exe file. It should be able to generate the repository Documentation and Catalog reporting.
If Possible please post scripts for this Batch file.

Issue in using rpd and webcat of OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on 11.1.1.6

I went through many topics on forums on how to upgrade the rpd and webcat from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6,it was mentioned that :
The obiee11.1.1.5.0 RPD,Catalog are supporting in obiee11.1.1.6.0 version. but should deployee it via Weblogic EM(FMW)

I tried using the same rpd and webcat from obiee 11.1.1.5 and followed the above steps but after services are successfully started I cannot open the rpd in online mode it throws the error:
Successful completion of init block 'FndGetSecContext' is required.
could not connect to the bi server instance
and also on opening webcat its not accepting the paassword which earlier it had accepted.
Can someone please let me know what could be the cause for the above issues.

befor deploying your obiee11.1.1.5.0 RPD file just open as offile mode via obiee11.1.1.6. rpd then try check the
metadata gloable consistency (ctrl+k) then make sure no error i hope there is some issues on your init block its making problem just fix it then try deploy it and refresh GUID then try to login analytics it should work.
Note: there are some init block (I hope this init block FNDGetSecContext having problem just double check )
are failed just make sure and delete unused variables and init block and one more thing are u integrated with EBS?

Will Photoshop Album 3.2 process all tags and catalogs from v2.0?

I want to upgrade to Photoshop Album 3.2 but the last time I tried that a year ago I could not figure out how to move my tags and catalogs. Did I do something wrong or has this been fixed?

You can upgrade from Photoshop album 3.2 to Elements 11 successfully. No information gets lost in conversion process.

Backup/restore repository and catalog

documentation states that runcat.cmd can be used to put BI into maintenance mode and then xcopy the repository and catalog to back them up..
I have done this..
but If I want to recover from those files,
the best way I have found is:
use runcat.cmd again to put it in maintenance mode and xcopy the catalog back replacing the current files?
use Enterprise Manager - BI - Core - Deployment - Repository - lock - browse to the backup rpd - apply - activate - restart
is there a command prompt way of restoring the repository?

I tried merge rpd's in tow ways
1.
original repository: OOTB 7.9.6.3 RPD
modified repository: customized 7.9.6.2 rpd and upgraded to 11g
current repository: OOTB 7.9.6.3 RPD
merge repository: mergerep.rpd
after selecting above and click next it didn't show any differences and directly gave merge rpd. Anything wrong in above selection?

original repository: Blank RPD
modified repository: customized 7.9.6.2 rpd and upgraded to 11g
current repository: OOTB 7.9.6.3 RPD
merge repository: mergerep.rpd
with above selection it is giving about 500+ differences and asking to decide current/modified to merge.
what is the right proess for merging repositories?
