So,
The hard drive failed. Install new drive, XP Pro. Have an HP printer attached to LPT1, IRQ7.
Print jobs go to print queue P_0, and will not print.

Wow... this is so long ago for me since working with binary queues...
The only thing I can think of, seeing nothing server side has changed that you have mentioned, is that the Novell Client you have installed is to new an does not contain what is needed to have legacy printing working.... You could try installing an old version, NW CL 4.83 comes to mind, then update to the latest Novell client.

  • Print servers for 30 client Mac Mini Lab

I have a 30 client Mac Mini lab with printing done by 2 networked HP Officejet 8600+ printers w/ 128mb memory.  I would like to have a print server that will speed up the printing(kindergarteners can be impatient).  A dozen years or so ago there were separate print servers that managed print requests and gave you only 1 queue to keep track of, but I haven't found one lately for 10.5.  Will simply routing print requests to our current document server(PowerMac, Intel 2, 500gb) and giving it the 8600s' IP addresses give me the speed boost I need?

Okay, I have been able to recreate the error message by changing the Security Options for the Windows print queue (located in Properties > Ports > Configure Port). By default, the printer queue is set to use an anonymous account for the connection. When I changed the setting to use the "Windows logon name and password", I would get the error "Returning IPP client-error-not-authorized for Print-Job". This message was found in the cups error log, the print queue did not show an error - simply the job would not appear in the print queue and therefore there was no print.
The only problem I then encountered was when I changed the setting back to use the anonymous account, the error continued to occur - again only showing in cups. The only way I could resolve this was to delete the Windows queue, reset the printing system on the Mac and re-add the Canon printer (in my case an iP6000D). Then when I added the printer again on Win7 using the Bonjour Printer Wizard, I was able to print without error.
So, I suggest you first check that the anonymous account is being used on the Vista PC. If it is, then remove the Windows queue and reset the printing system on the Mac. To reset the printing system, Control-click on the Print & Fax > Printer list and select the reset pop-up. This will delete the Mac queue but not the driver. Now you can add the printer again on the Mac and once that is complete, go back to the PC and add the printer again.
One final note. My printer is using v10.26.x of the Canon driver. Version 10.19 was part of the default 10.6.0 install and can be updated to the same v10.26 by downloading the Canon Printer Driver Update v2.2.

  • Printer Servers

Hi All. Its taken me an hour to get to this point. Originally trying to get help from HP direct but the website sent me round in circles.
So hope someone can give a novice some help. In our household there is a PC and 2 laptops with a wireless router(connected to the PC by an ethernet cable). We have an HP 2050 all in one printer which is connected to the PC by a USB cable. If we want to print from the laptops we have to physically take the laptop to the printer and connect with another usb cable. Dont laugh but have just found out you can use a print server to connect wirelessly. But dont know how it works. Have done a little bit of research and it seems not all print servers are compatable with every printer. I thought I would buy an HP print server to ensure compatible - Is this right ? Also I read somewhere there could be a problem with existing software ? How easy is it all to set up ?
An idiots guide to the whole process would be appreciated. Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
However I decided to buy an HP5510 All-in-one printer which you can use wire free. I have got it running on the PC and 2 laptops. It is fine on the laptops but I have trouble with the PC. Sometimes it takes about 2/3 minutes to come through to the printer and at other times I have to manually reconnect. I wonder if this problem is due to the fact I have Windows 7 on both laptops (with no problem) but have Windows Vista Home premium on the PC where I have trouble.

  • ISQL*Plus: Internal error (no valid library could be found)

I install iSQL*PLUS on middle tier (9i AS 1.0.2.1) according to documentation, when I trying to connect I am getting Internal error (no valid library could be found). The TNSNAMES.ORA file is correct.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

My first suggestion is to use the HTTP listener on the RDBMS bundle. This is what iSQL*Plus 8.1.7 Beta was built for.
The HTTP servers on the iAS and Database releases require mods to be compiled differently.

  • ReportSDKPrinterException: Printer name could not be set

I am working on testing a web application with BOE XI V 3.1.  I have the database and RAS machines setup.  I have been working on changing my app to printing through the RAS.  I have print preview and export working, but am running into issues printing to a printer.
On the RAS which is on a virtual machine, I have a printer setup as a local printer to a tcpip port so the VM can access a printer on our network.  But when I call the clientDoc.getPrintOutputController().printReport(printOptions); I get the error message ReportSDKPrinterException: Printer name could not be set.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jason,
Could you please let us know the complete Business Objects version with Service Pack and Fix Pack?
Actually the issue you are facing was identified as a bug and was fixed in Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 FixPack 2.2.
Please go through the SAP Note: 1417374 - Error "Printer name could not be set" when printing using the RAS SDK.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printer Queue Settings Mysteriously Reverting Back to Default Settings on 2008 R2 print servers

Printer Queue Settings Mysteriously Reverting Back to Default Settings on 2008 R2 print servers
We have 4 Windows Server 2008 R2 print servers, all of which has the same printer queues installed on them that are utilized by a 3rd party printing program that does a round-robin load balancing scheme.
All printers are a combination of HP and Xerox all running some variation of the HP UPD and the Xerox UPD.  Some use the PCL 5 and some use the PCL 6 version determined by age of printer and need.
There are typically two printer queues for each physical printer.
    Example:
    LOCATION_ROOM
    LOCATION_ROOM_TRAY2
The regular queue is ok being left with default setting,
The _TRAY2 queues are set to print to "labels" or "pre-printed" paper type or a specific tray.
From time to time, these _TRAY2 queues will revert back to a factory default state and lose the setting to print to a specific paper type or tray.  Sometimes it happens to the _TRAY2 queue on all 4 servers, sometimes just 1 server, etc.  No rhyme
    or reason.
Disabled Bi-directional options on both the HP and Xerox UPDs per another article on the internet that said bi-directional could cause the printer to send back settings to the driver and cause this issue.  Even with this option off, we continue to see
printer _TRAY2 queue settings revert back to factory default and lose their specific paper and tray settings.  We have ruled out the possibility that users or other technicians are the ones making these changes so we suspect it is some interaction between
the servers, printer drivers and printers themselves causing the issue.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start by using one of the print drivers included in Windows for a few of the printers and confirm it's the universal driver that is causing the issue.
HP installs some other processes and services on the machine which communicate with the HP devices.
PML and something else.  You might want to shut those down and see if these processes are the ones modifying the settings.
Run process monitor to truly identify which processes is causing the modifications.

  • CSS 11503 load-balancing with MS Print Servers

We are trying to load-balance print server connections between 2 MS print servers. When we try to connect to the print servers name, (\\PS01) or even the VIP address, we get a Path not found error. However, if we direct the path to the actual name or ip address of the print servers (not the VIP), we can view all the queues and connect/print to them. Is this possible to do on the CSS 11503? Thanks.

  • Print servers and printers problems on Win7 and Win8

    Hello,
We have some computers, working on Windows operating system in the office: a few forking on the good old XP sp3, one running on the Win7 x64 home edition and one running on Win8 professional (the last one installed for new OS testing purposes)
During last two months I have tested a few print servers attempting to find one which can work with Windows 7: Trendnet, Synology, and D-link print servers. However, unsuccessfully. Here is the result:
       1) Any print servers is working perfectly with WinXP sp3 (full printing and MFP function support, easy configuration and access, successfully scanning and printing operations in 100% cases)
       2) No one print server is working correctly with Win7 home x64 (mostly successful installation but complicated and unclear configuration; printed pages often is missing, no scan support for MFP.
       3) There is a little bit better situation with Win8: 100% printing support on the same equipment but no scan support for MFP
Could you please help me with followings:
    1) Could you please help me configure print servers and printers on Win7 x64, including printing and scanning support?
    2) Could you please help me configure scanning support for Win8?
Please find full list of affected hardware bellow:
    1) Machines, running on Win XP: Panasonic CF-29, CF-74, HP Compaq dc7600, some Acer laptops;
    2) Machine, running on Win7 x64 home: Asus UX21, (OS probably was preinstalled on the factory)
    3) Machine, running on Win8 pro: Lenovo X200 tablet
    4) Printer HP LJ1020 with drivers for XP and Win7, x86 and x64
    5) MFP printer Canon MP600 with drivers for XP and Win7, x86 and x64
    6) Print server: D-link DPR-2000
    7) Router: Cisco RV042G
All the machines has correct drivers installed, all the printers supports all the services if connected to computer directly. I have made all possible steps solving mentioned problems, including automated problem solving wizards on Win7.
Thanks in advance for your support

  • Generate Source List - " No mesage record could be found ....

    Hello,
I am generating source lists for OA's.  In the process I am getting the following message when I save them:
"No message record could be found for output of message. Save anyway?"
I've not seen this before.  Is anyone familiar with it and what it means and/or does if I do or don't save them.
    Regards,
    Judi

    Hi,
this is the standard message that the system issues when it is trying to output (print) a document such as a PO or contract.
What MAY be happening is that you may be updating a contract or VSA somehow and the message is simply saying that it cannot reprint the document.
Save the document anyway, it just means you wont get an automatic printout.

  • Print Servers Impact after unicode conversion

    Hi
We are performing an CUUC from 4.6C to ECC 6.0
Our customer has around 4-5 windows special print servers which are used for chinese, japanese, korean printing..etc.
After the upgrade & unicode conversion
    - Do we still need to use all these 4-5 special print servers for each languages seperatly? or
    - We shall consolidate all these print servers into one print server? Or
    - We don't need to have any print servers, all the print queues can be pointed to unix print queues and then to the printers directly.
    Kindly advise
    Thanks & Regards
    Senthil

I would think you could consolidate the print servers, but you still need the separate printers/device types in SAP. We use a single print server for EN/DE/ZH but have different SAP printers (usinging different device types) for EN/DE & ZH printers.

  • No network printers could be found. Windows XP SP2 All In One Officejet L7680

    1.  I can print to my network printer just fine.  It is assigned a static IP address of 10.0.0.1
    2.  However My solution center software started messing up badly (it use to work fine scan/fax etc... )
    3.  When i attempt to reinstall everything is ok except for when it tries to find the printer.
it says "Search complete, no printers found." so there is an option to enter the IP address manually and I do.  It immediately says "No network printers could be found".  obviously since i can print to the printer and and ping it and get to its home page the printer is fine.
     4.  This happens with 2 of the three versions of software available for download.  The IT professional use works but it doesn't have solution center which i need to scan docs.
The basic and the full suite both exhibit the same behavior.
     5.  I've followed all instructions on troubleshooting with software removal and installation on the HP site but nothing has worked.
     6.  I see others have posted similar problem with no reply or resolution posted.
      * - one important note is that even when following the advanced removal process (uninstall, msconfig to stop services, unregister hp services, delete directories and registry entries).... the "Shop for HP Supplies" still exists somewhere or at least i think so... because when i try to install software from scratch it always says this portion of the software is already installed... so this is a little fishy because it sounds like maybe there is some stuff still hanging around.... I also tried running the advanced software removal tool and it doesn't seem to do much good either.
BTW the problems i started having with solution center all occurred after I allowed one their automatic updates to execute.

    Hi,
I ran into this a few months back... and ultimately i posted some how-to's on here... but basically something got botched with the isntallation... and what i learned thru pain was that un-installing and re-installing wasn't enough because the un-install process did not remove (registry entries, files/directories, services, ports, etc... in order to make for a clean reinstall).
I also learned that the downloadable software does not have all of the framework needed for communication.  So I had to find my original install disk and i had to go thru a very painfull (30min to 1hr) search and destroy registry mission... and other software removal steps.  Once i got the software off completely and re-isntalled the sol man software worked without issue on detecting and finding the device and using the software.
Now since then i read in another article (you can find it)... that HP provided a 2nd more advanced removal tool... but I'm not sure how well that works...
Again if you search for my posts i think i put everything in there that you need to do.... and i do agree that I will never by a nother mid grade small office printer from HP... hardware is fine but software support and workability is complete *#&%)#&

  • "No certificate templates could be found..." error using web enrollment on Win2k8 R2 Enterprise SubCA

    Hi Folks,
I have installed an online issuing CA running on Win2k8 R2 Enterprise, and installed the web enrollment role service on it.
I have duplicated two computer certificate templates (computer & web server) on our DC's, modified them as Win2k3 templates, made some changes and saved them, then published them on the CA by selecting New -> Certificate Tempate
to issue. The templates have read and enroll permissions set for domain admins and domain computers (my account is a domain admin). I can successfully enroll for them using the certificates MMC.
When connecting to https://myca.mydomain.com/certsrv however, the page loads. I click on 'Request a certificate', then 'Create and submit a request to this CA'. I see a warning indicating that this website
is attempting to perform a digital certificate operation on my behalf, so I click yes. Immediately after doing so, I get the error:
"No certificate templates could be found. You do not have permission to request a certificate from this CA, or an error occurred while accessing the Active Directory."
I have spent about 2 hours searching on this error and found at least 50 people complaining of this, but no real solutions. Here is what I have tried with no success:
    1) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811418. Everyone references this solution, but it hasn't worked for anyone. The string values and cases are the same for me.
    2) Enabled SSL on the certsrv website.
    3) Set the authentication on the certsrv site to enable integrated authentication and disabled anonymous authentication.
    4) Created a separate application pool running under the Network Service then set the Certsrv application to run under it.
I should note that this exact same condition occurred in my lab install, but rather than waste time trying to fix it in the lab, I just went ahead with the production install, only to experience the same problem, so apparently web enrollment is just
broken out of the box on 2k8 R2 Enterprise.
Does anyone have any idea how to get this working as advertised? Thanks for any help,
    Ian

It appears to be an issue in Server 2012R2 as well.
In our case, is a new two tier PKI setting is implemented on two Windows Servers 2012R2. After the installations and configurations are completed, I was unable to load certificate templates when requesting a certificate on the Web interface.
The issue was that the pass-through authentication did not work in IIS with the standard Application Pool Identity.
    The solution was as followed:
    1. Changed the NTFS permissions on the certsrv virtual directory in IIS (C:\Windows\System32\CertSrv\en-US), by adding a (domain) user account with read and list permissions.
    2. In IIS CertSrv > Basic Settings > Connect as - select "Specific user:" and set the newly created user with the username and password.
    3. Tested in Basic Settings with - "Test Settings" button and both Authentication and Authorization were successful.
    4. Request certificate from Web interface and the templates are available.
Note: You must have a certificate in the Templates store which you have duplicated from the Templates available.

  • Project Server 2010 - Unable to open project, no valid Project Detail Page could be found for the project error

I have a workflow being deployed for the first time on a farm. When I create a project with an EPT connected to the workflow it runs and can enter the required field in a PDP.  Then I Submit the workflow to go to the next stage and I get the "Unable
to open project, no valid Project Detail Page could be found for the project" error.  After that the project is stuck on the same error.  All of the 18 stages have PDP and Schedules assigned to them.
Any ideas on why the workflow cannot see the PDPs?  Is there a farm permissions that I am missing?  Thanks!

  • I*sqlplus: Internal error (no valid library could be found)

    Hello
I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows NT
and Oracle 8.1.7 on Sun Sparc Solaris.
On Windows NT, I have installed i*sqlplus.
    However, when connecting from browser
    in the index file
    I've given a valid username/password of
a database in Oracle 8.1.7 on Sun Sparc
and a connect string to the database
on Oracle 8.1.7 on Sun Sparc.
This connect string is created using
Net 8 assistant and this connect string
is on the Windows NT with Oracle 8.1.7.
    However, instead of connecting I
    am getting the error
Internal error : (no valid library could be found)
    Can you please help me?
    Thanks

    Cyril,
Can you connect to the database using the command line version of SQL*Plus? If so, you're using the correct syntax.
It sounds like iSQL*Plus is not set up correctly. Do you have the necessary 8.1.7 components on the NT machine (Oracle HTTP Server, Net8, SQL*Plus)?
Review the installation documentation, and/or post more specific information on your set up.
