    Dear Colleagues,
Like Report-Report interface (RRI) in BW, wherein detailed report can be invoked from chart/graph, can similar thing is possible in Visual Composer?
    Please advice.
    Regards
    Pankaj

Wih a workaround as below you can tailor to suite your needs ;however there are some limitations you may want to look below-
You can also combine the advantages of the VC and BEx Web runtime. For example, you can develop a VC model that renders the data in Adobe Flex and within this model you can define links to BEx Web Applications that calls the underlying query in order to analyze the data in more detail. There the data will be displayed in DHTML and you can use the BEx features to drill-down in a pivot table, for example
    General Aspects - VC
In the area of Analytics you can use different tools to model reporting scenarios and analytical applications.
Deciding which tool best meets your requirements depends on several factors - features, UI technology, User
types, interaction, OLAP and/or OLTP data needed, for example. The UI tool decision tree (see Figure 3) will
support you in your choice and will help you determine which tool meets your requirements in the best way. Your
decision also depends on which criteria (e.g. features) are most important for you.
First you should think about whether you need to use the functionalities of the BI analytical engine (drill-down
navigation in reports, slice and dice analysis, and external presentation hierarchy, for example). If you don’t
need those functionalities, then you should use Visual Composer, especially if you want to use query services
(Web Services and/or BAPI‘s) and/or if you want to embed OLAP data into operational processes. Also, use the
Visual Composer if your analytic application to be rendered with Adobe Flex. Adobe Flex is a presentation-tier
framework and server that enables the development of Rich Internet Applications. With the Adobe Flex UI you
can use interactive UI elements, for example. If you want to use just OLTP data in your reporting scenario, you
also have to use Visual Composer.
If you want to report based only on OLAP data (stored in Info Providers in a SAP BI system), you should use the
BI Suite tools. If the end users should access their reports using MS Excel, you must use the BEx Analyzer.
Beforehand you have to define a query using the Query Designer that then can be easily embedded into a BEx
Analyzer workbook. You can also do basic formatting with standard MS Excel functionality as well as integrating
    BI Integrated planning functionality.
If you want to use formatted reporting and if you want to display the reports in a Web Browser, you should use
the Report Designer. With the Report Designer you are able to create formatted reports that are optimized for
presentation and printing. You can also access a number of formatting and layout functions.
If you need to deliver standardized reports, you should use the Pattern Wizard (integrated into the Web
Application Designer) to create pattern-based Web Templates. You can create Information Consumer Patterns
to ensure a standardized UI for the end users who access the Web Templates via the Enterprise Portal. If you
need special UI elements (for example, Tab Strips) or if you want to build planning applications, you have to use
the freestyle Web Application Designer capabilities.

  • Print Visual Composer cockpit

    Dear all,
I have provided my users with a Visual Composer cockpit. They would like to have the option to print the cockpit or individual charts. Is it possible to provide a print button that prints (a subsection of) the cockpit?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,
Yes, it's possible to print a cockpit and even in a very easy way:
Start by adding a push-button control to one of the forms/tables/charts in the cockpit (the "Print" button).
In the Action tab of the control properties, select system action and in the drop-down list of the system action field select - Print. Apply the print action to self and select the print screen option.
    That's it, good-luck,

  • Download Visual Composer cockpit

    Dear all,
I would like to provide my users with the possibility to download the Visual Composer cockpit that I have build. Is this possible and what should I do to accomplish this?
I know that in SEM when you build a Balanced Scorecard the user can select a period and download the scorecard with all data for that period to his own desktop.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ralph

    Hi Mario,
thanks for your answer, the guide tells me how to export data from tables to excell. I understand that it is not possible to export charts or download the whole flash application to an offline version.
What about charts? Can I add a button by which I can copy the chart to a clipboard such that I can use it in other applications, f.e. a powerpoint presentation?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ralph

  • Building a BI based dashboard in Visual Composer

    Dear,
We are using the Visual Composer to build a KPI dashboard based on BW KPI's from multiple queries (NO SEM in the background !)
What we need is to place the keyfigures in the rows and the keyfigure value in the colums. In the colums we further also need an arrow that indicates the trend based on the keyfigure value (ascending, descending,...)
this is how it should look
    ===================
    Keyfigure        Value            Trend
    Gross Sales    100€             Down
    Net Sales        80€              Up
    Costs             20€               Up
(*) The trend is based on a calculated keyfigure that compares this month's values with previous month's values.
In Visual Composer I'm trying to fit this in a table. After playing around I found that I need to place my keyfigures (column A) in a structure in the Rows in the BW query. Afterwards I can use the "characteristic" Key Figures and place it in my column in the VC table together with the value and the trend.
However, now my real problem occurs. I want to link trend with an image but the image should not be based on a condition linked with the main keyfigure from my row A but on another calculated keyfigure that I do not want to show in my rows at all. I'm affraid this is not possible since I don't see an option.
If anyone has an idea, please share. This kind of VC cockpit apps you see quite often on slides and Xapp presentations but I'm affraid they were all created with SEM cockpits in the background so I hope to be proven wrong.
    thx

    Id'try the following:
    a) your trend-field is in your query, but unselected in the field list
    b) build a formula on this unselected field which selects the image (from the Image Manager)
More on modeling can be found in the Visual Composer WIKI:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/VC
and many postings in the Visual Composer (where it might make sense to ask such questions in the future), where I also moved this question.

  • Business scenario for Visual Composer

    Dear All:
I have been searched for the document about SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer. Mostly they are about IT scenario and features. We heard that it is highly-graphic supported, code-free and provide modeling for business logic. But we are looking for clear ideas about what is the business scenario it can be applied and what s the best circumstance to recommend business users use visual composer. Can anyone provide us documents or idea about it?
    Thank you very much
    S.F

    Hi Szu-Fen,
as you already mentioned, VC is designed for code-free applications. These applications normally consume data from different sources and visualize this information in an "easy to understand" manner. They are called management cockpits. An example for such a management cockpit can be found here:
    http://www.cubeserv.com/produkte/visual_composer/visual_composer_ss2_de_k.gif
Hopefully this gives you an idea of the purpose of VC.

  • Error while making iview with visual composer

I am trying to make an iview usign visual composer.
In the document that i have for making the iview , it says that when you have the bapi list you need to drag and drop the bapi to the empty iview pane . When i do so it gives me the following error ...
    "Portal request failed
    (com/sap/mdi/ObjectFactory)"
    What do i do ?
    Would appreciate a prompt help!
thanks again for making me move ahead
I had a conversation with a parson on the forum named Venkat . I am posting the same for other people in the forum to understand what exactly is my problem and how much have we explored .
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Hi Venkat ,
I tried to do so research on the problem and it is being talked about in a thread on the forum . They ask to refer to the sap note 765461 to resolve the mdi reference . In the note they ask you to refer the installation guide of the installed version of EP . I have EP 6.0 SP2 . The installation guide says the following ...
    7.1.2 Adding References
To enable some of the features in the portal environment, add references to reference file.
    To add a reference:
    1. With a text editor, open the file:
    Windows: <installation drive>:\usr\sap\<SAP J2EE instance name>\j2ee\<instance
    number>\cluster\state\services\file\work\managers\reference.txt
    Unix: /usr/sap/<SAP J2EE instance name>/j2ee/j2ee_<instance number>/
    cluster/state/services/file/work/managers/reference.txt
    2. Look for the line:
    reference service:eisconnector library:jco
    3. After the line mentioned in previous step, add the following in a new line:
    reference service:eisconnector library:com.sap.mdi
    4. Save your changes and close the file.
    5. Delete the file:
    Windows: <installation drive>:\usr\sap\<SAP J2EE instance name>\j2ee\<instance
    number>\cluster\state\services\file\work\managers.bin
    Unix: /usr/sap/<SAP J2EE instance name>/j2ee/j2ee_<instance number>/
    cluster/state/services/file/work/managers.bin
    6. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine. See Starting the SAP J2EE Engine [Page 60].
    7. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine again.
I did the same ....but now my server is not starting . By chance i didn't keep a bakup of the file which they asked me to delete .
Now what do i do ?
I think i am stuck up badly here .
EVERYBODY IN THE FORUM PLEASE HELP
I am not sure how a thing that is mentioned in the installation guide cannot work !
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Deepak,
It is not that bad. By deleting you are recreating that managers.bin file during startup based on the reference.txt and library.txt (recollecting from my memory). This could also happen if there is a typo or some special characters in the reference.txt
I don't know what J2EE patch you are at, but after PL22 you can actually add the reference using the "add reference" command from the administrator console.
could you please send the error you are getting? To revert back the simplest thing is removing the line you have added and restart.
    Hope this helps.
    -Venkat Malempati
Note: Please reward points if your problem is solved or useful.
    Venkat ,
I am using J2EE engine 6.20 SP2 .I tried to get the server started by the following two methods
    1) I removed my entry in the reference.txt file and then start the engine by running go.bat from the required path .
    2) I got the original file managers.bin which i deleted and then placed in the required path and restarted the server
Both the options didn't work .
I am not getting any error when i restart the server. When i run the batch file go.bat it starts the console and shows me the various managers loading . After it shows the Clustermanager loading , it stops and gets stuck .
Not sure what should i do now .Is reinstallation the only solution ?
Is there a solution from the administrator console ?
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
    Deepak,
No you don't need to re-install. Try the following.
    1. First start the state controller by runing go.bat in the following directory.
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/state/go.bat
You get the message waiting for cluster manager.
    2. start the server in a different window
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/server/go.bat
You get the message waiting for cluster manager
    3. Start the dispatcher
    /usr/sap/xxx/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher/go.bat
Please let me the know the error messages.
You can chat with me between 10:00 - 11:00 PM US EST.
    Regards
    -Venkat Malempati

    People ,
I tried to do what venkat suggested . Infact I had mailed him the snapshot of the screen when i start the state controller as he suggested . For other people in the forum this is what is happening . When i start the state controller it displays an error and then the window closes immediately . I have managed the screen shots somehow and in those i could find two messeges in the begining and the end which could be useful for debugging the problem ...they are
    1) [DBMS]: ID3004:DB file header do not match exception .
com.inqmy.services.dbms.server.interfaces.DatabaseException: Error while opening database ...
    2) ID000544: Error statrting service dbms. DBMS service not started properly due to: Errro while opening database
[Framework -> criticalShutdown] Service dbms startup error !
After the state controller window closes i run the server in a different window and i get a message waiting for the cluster manager as suggested . Now i start the dispatcher and i get the same messege there as well ie waiting for the cluster manager .
What is to be done now . Is this information sufficient to suggest me something ? Please let me know if you require any other information .

  • Data Service System In Visual Composer  7.1

    Hello,Experts:
Recently ,i am focusing on the mirgration function of SAP NetWeaver, and visual composer is among them .
In netweaver 2004s enterpise portal ,i have done the system connection between Enterpise Portal and ECC and BW ,and the system alias can be accessed in visual composer .Both the bapi and infocube can be got by the system alias .The Visual Composer Application based on the backend data service is ok .
However ,i have registry the ecc system in CE Portal and its version is SAP Composte Environment SP5 .I can check out the system registry is ok . However ,when i open the Visual Composer on the CE Portal ,i couldnt find the system alias that i have registried .It is blank .Plus,we havent install SLD on the CE Java Server ,and solution manager is put forward to take the place of sld .
Can anybody help me out ? The problem has any relationship with the Enterpise Service Repository ?
Thanks for your help in advance .
    Eleanor

    Hi Eleanor,
first of all if you want to use SAP BW in Visual Composer for CE then you have to install Enhancement Package 1. SAP BW resp. queries, planning functions and so on is only supported with VC 7.11 (EhP1 for CE). I also recommend you to set up the SLD in your CE system resp. that it works as a "slave SLD" when you have an existing SLD in your landscape. There are wizards available in the NetWeaver Administrator.
Go to http://<host>:<port>/nwa to login into NetWeaver Administrator.
Navigate to Configuraton --> Scenario --> Configuration Wizard and choose the Initial setup of functional unit SLD.
If you want to have access to BAPIs there are two ways to access the system. You can define a portal system object to access the ECC or you can define in NWA a RFC connection to access ECC.

  • Visual Composer 7.0 roadmap

    Hello experts,
We have NetWeaver EP 7.0 installed with Visual Composer in our C&B and DEV environment. We haven't started developing with it yet.
    My questions to you is:
What is the future of Visual Composer 7.0?
My understanding is that SAP has put a lot of energy integrating Visual Composer into CE 7.1. This new version has significant changes compare to it's predecessor. Visual Composer for CE 7.1 seems to be the way to go if one needs to create applications based on existing data services. In short terms, both versions will coexist. Bbut in long terms...?
Can anyone help me find the Visual Composer roadmap?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Nathalie

    Hi,
This is a quote from the Visual Composer main page on SDN: (/people/jarrod.williams/blog/2009/09/14/whats-new-in-visual-composer)
    "_Visual Composer 7.0_
In light of the progress made relating to parity between Visual Composer 7.0 and Visual Composer CE, our investment in Visual Composer 7.0 will be limited to maintenance after the release of enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. We are confident that with the provisions made for migration to Visual Composer 7.1 enhancement package 1 or Visual Composer 7.2 and the great feature set in Visual Composer for enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0, our existing customers running Visual Composer 7.0 will enjoy the best of both worlds: the option to upgrade to Visual Composer 7.2 or to stay with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0."
I'll stress the last part, though VC on CE is a great version, staying with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0 is also good, depending on your needs of course, for instance - the attractive Flash runtime which is currently exclisive for VC 7.0, the "Flash Components" feature that was entered on SP5 of 7.01 (and in 7.02) , which enables you to consume custom 3rd party flash components or Xcelsius controls inside Visual Composer,, which makes flash black-boxes easier to consume than in CE, .. etc..
still - VC on CE of course has it's own advantages - the ability to consume clustered services, life-cycle management, it's intergration with the other CE components etc..
and so if you'll find that VC 7.0 is not enough, you could always upgrade and migrate to the CE versions (7.1 or 7.2).
bottom line - it's a win win situation.

  • Scroll bar color of Visual Composer : how to change it ?

    Hello Comunity,
I am developing application using Visual Composer within EP7.01 SP6, and I can not manage to find how to change the original blue of Visual Composer application for scroll bar.
Does anyone knows where to change this color ? I believe it is a general color that is defined somewhere that needs to be change in the portal theme editor in the Visual Composer part, but I did not find it...
    Any help appreciated !
    Thanks a lot.
    Fabien.

    Hi
Its not inside Visual Composer application. You have to do it at Enterprise Portal level.
Also inside VC model you need to select 'Flash Runtime' from tools (Options).
Basically you need to change theme settings in content administration of VC.

  • Unable to add visual composer UI to a BPM task in CE 7.2.

    Hello
I am using CE 7.2 trial version. I am not able to add a visual composer UI component to a task (BPM task). Can any body explain how to do?
I have created the visual composer component and deployed in the server. It is working fine independently.
Created the Process dc and added the VC DC in the public part.
Created the task and selected Unified UI import wizard, and selected UI technology as visual composer, but it is not listing any ui components.
Can anybody suggest the correct method to do.
    Thanks and regards
    Sajith P

    Hi Sajith,
I can assume that you are using the start event either to initialise some values in your VC or
maybe you are using the start event with all bank values just as a pre-requisite to integrate BPM with VC.
The end event will expect a return value at the end of the VC activity. Since you are using a BPM the VC application will be displayed in the Task of the user's UWL. How do you manage the response of the end event here?
I think you are using the response of end activity to go ahead with your BPM process. Please confirm and share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Pritish
