RRI variable screen problem

Hi Gurus,
I am facing a problem here I am using RRI there in RSBBS I have included two queries in One query. After I excuted query when I am trying to navigate to the another query which I have included it is giving me the variable screen i.e input selection screen.
I dont want to the variable screen to appear it should pich the characterstic on which I go for GOTO it should pick automatically.
How can I solve this?

In ur RSBBS-Assigments
The Infoobjcts shud be avaliable in both the Queries.
The objects for which u want to jump shud be avaliable as Input Variable ,in the assignments Make the same infoobjects which u want to jump from Query one to Query two as
TYPE-Infoobject instead of Generic.In the Field give as object name-Tech Name,say 0CUSTOMER,Selection Type as Paramters.
Come bak if u still have issues.

NW 2004s Bex Analyzer Variable screen problem

Our BW system was upgraded from 3.1 to NW 2004s (SPS 8/FEP 9).
When we refresh the query in the workbook that has multiple queries, then the variable screen displays the variables from all queries.
For example: Query 1 has Posting Period single value variable, Query 2 - Posting Periods interval variable. When Query 1 is refreshed, the Variable input screen will display both variables - Posting Period single value variable and Posting Periods interval variable.

In BW 3.5 we had, if we have a Workbook with more than one Query, while refresh, if our cursor used to be outside the Query area, then it used to ask "Do you want to refresh all Queries on Workbook", if we say, it used to refresh all the Queries, by Promting Variable Screen multiple times.
"Melt" kind of function in this case should help.
But do we have method to refresh one query of the sheet only and not rest of them. I am afraid you may say no. But thought to recheck at least once more.

Variable screen issue in BEX !!

Hi Gurus,
Problem Description - When any query is opened through u2018Web BEx Analyzeru2019->u2019New Analysisu2019 button in portal , variable screen is shown and report is getting executed. Again, if we open same query from u2018Web BEx Analyzeru2019->u2019New Analysisu2019 (Donu2019t close the session use same session), Variable screen will NOT be shown at Second time. Directly, Query will be executed with previous Variable values & result will be shown.
I have modified following parameters but it did not take any effect to the variable screen problem.
VARIABLE_SCREEN, MELT_VARIABLES, VARIABLES_CLEAR, USE_PERSONALIZATION
100% points are assigned

I have experienced similar issues with the behaviour of variable selection screens e.g. variable screen appears in the Bex Excel version but not the web version. One of our consultants has suggested that the behaviour depends on whether the variables are optional or mandatory, something I've yet to confirm.

RRI Problem : Variable Screen Popup while Jumping to Target Query

While jumping from Source to Target query (both are BEx queries), Variable Entry Screen of the Source is popping Up again during Jump, which after pressing Execute (F8) without entering any values, displaying Target Query results correctly. My Target query is having one and only variable on Inv Doc Num of type Replacement Path and I am not supposed to get any variable Screen Popup during Jump. How can I suppress this reappearance of Variable Screen??. I have tried with Delete Options etc in RSBBS Assignment rules and searched for OSS Notes but not succeeded so far. I am on BW3.50 SP20. Any help will be highly appreciated.

I am not having the same variables in the Target at all. In fact the characteristics for which variable screen appears in the source are not there in target. I mean Posting Date, Billing Month...Etc are not ther in the Traget. In the Source Query Rows, I have Inv. Doc No as one of the Characteristics.No variable is defined for Inv Doc Num in the Source Query.
I am not getting your question"From which cell..??". If I select any perticular Cell in the Inv Doc Result Rows of the Source Output, During Jump it will return only the details of that particular invoice only? Is itn't?. But I want details of all those invoices, that appesrs in the Source Output. That is why, I am selecting my Jump target from the GOTO botton (Red Arrow like Symbol in BEx Tool Bar), and choosing my Target.

How to show a variable screen when clicking on direct link of report in ,when that report is used as target in RRI alsoRRI

I have created RRI between two reports and the type is web template/WAD.
My requirement is to show the variable screen of target report when clicked on direct link and it should not show the var. screen if it goes from jump/go to.
while currently I can not see var. screen on both the places and when switching the var. scree. display on in web template , it shows the screen at both the places.
Please suggest.

Did you try using such a variable? What kind of a problem do you face? I am sorry I am still trying to understand your problem. I am just saying that which variable you use is not important for the first query. Only in the second query, add a variable with ready for input (I am not sure why the other doesn't work, I just tried and it gave an error, that's why I suggest this) and in RRI connection make the assignment with this variable. Please try this and let me know the result.

Problem with Variable screen in WAD

I have a problem with variable screen in WAD , in the varable seen it is displaying only Key , it is not giving any description , but in BEX is is displaying both Key and Description , can any only have an idea why is this happening . this is occuring only for one variable , rest are working fine .

Hi Abraham,
thsi could be a problem from the specisic setting of the infocube. Please check the BEx Settings from the infocube. You can find them by the following steps:
- search for the infocube
- doubleclick on the infocube
- choose an specific infoobjekt
- right mousebutton and click "specific dataprovider settings"
- check if the right entries are set

Problem in Variable screen selection

Hello Expert,
I am facing problem in the variable screen of Bex Query.
There is a variable created for 0FISCPER info object which populates data through customer exit. When i execute the query and "check" i get the following output
here we can see that corresponding month is displayed for the fiscal year variable
I have another query which uses the same variable but get the following output
here we can see that the month descripton is not displayed in the second query. Could you please help in resolving the issue

Hi Vilas,
Purpose of the customer exit code is to extract the value only, it has no relation with the text of it. The description comes from the info object text data.
I noticed a small difference - "Fiscal Fear/Period" and "Fiscal year / period", normally info object have their decription in the query like defined in BW unless it has been changed specifically. If the both variables are on different info object related to month/period. If yes, then please check the text values of corresponding months in the info objects.

Problem using transfer button in VARIABLE SCREEN

We are using BEX web designer and using bw query designing the template...and the template after genreation shows the variable screen but the trnsfer button is not functioning properly it does not show the value in the text box.
I have also hard coded the "&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X" in the url, but still the same problem is occuring.
can anyone tel what is the problem like

Description for Variable in variable screen

Hi Forum,
I am using variables type "Replacement Path" in a query for 0FISCYEAR and 0FISCPER3 through by another variable for 0FISCPER.
The variables are functioning well, but in the screen of entrance of variables, the variable for 0FISCPER display the technician name instead of the description.

Compounded characteristic are not displayed in the variable screen (BI 700)

Hi Experts,
How to display compounded characteristic in the variable screen of queriies?
Example :
IO 0PROFIT_CTR is compounded to 0CO_AREA. Tryimg to select 0PROFIT_CTR via a variable,
only values of 0PROFIT_CTR are displayed in F4 opo up, not those of 0CO_AREA.
0CO_AREA is not restricted in any way in query definiton.
This happens in BEx Analyser as well as in web apllication.
Did anybody face this issue? How to solve it?

'I 've a variable for 0PROFIT_CTR. When I call F4 , values for 0PROFIT_CTR are displayed
e.g. as
7062 PC 7062
7062 PC /062
My problem is, that these PCs belong to different Co_areas. so i expected
3200 7062 PC 7062
4300 7062 PC 7062
3200 an 4300 are representing compounded Co_areas in this example. In 3.5 this worked perfectly,
if Co_areas was not restricted itself with a variable or a defined value.
Now I'm looking for the option to achieve this as well in 700.

Variable Screen Does Not Display in Bex Web Analyzer after first time

We recently upgraded from BW 3.1 to BW 7.0 (without upgrading specifically to 3.5). We are having a problem with our Web Bex Analyzer not showing the variable screen although the variable screen is displayed successfully when running the same query from the Bex Analyzer. Based on feedback from other posts regarding similar topics, we modified the 0analysis_pattern template to ensure that Display Variable Screen was checked on. We are finding that when we open the Web Bex Analyzer and do a New Analysis, the first query we try to run will always have the variable screen displayed successfully. Any susbsequent queries we try to run by clicking on New Analysis in that same open window will not show the variable screen and will start executing open ended. This is occurring regardless of whether the query has mandatory or optional variables and we have confirmed that there is no personalization set for the variables being used. We have tried it with several different queries and the results are consistent. The first query you run shows the variable screen successfully and any queries run after that do not. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated as we have exhausted our resources researching and troubleshooting this problem.

We did open an OSS note and heard back from SAP. We made the recommended setting, see their response below, but as they stated, it will only show variable screens for queries that have at least one mandatory variable entry after the first query is opened.
Response from SAP:
Please check if the following setting is made within your template --
In the 'Standard Actions' of the Web Template, do you have the setting
'Action Before First Display' set to OPEN_VARIABLE_DIALOG
The behaviour of the variable screen is different if you use mandatory
variables and optional variables. If you have only optional variables,
the Display Variable does not force the variable screen.
Also, using the parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN=X only influences the
web application at STARTUP. This would not come into affect when you
use the 'New Analysis' button. This button resets the dataprovider so
this would not affect the variable screen and would not redisplay the
variable screen as you require.

Variable Refreshment Problem in Workbook

Hi Experts,
We have a workbook for Price Definition Planning (Using SAP IP).
There is one Navigational Attribute called u2018Category Segmentu2019 (for Planning Product) as a dropdown item which populates new records in workbook.
If we run the workbook for first time after giving the required variable input value for category segment suppose u2018Chocolateu2019, it works as intended.
But the problem is that , if next time we change the variable value for the same to different one suppose u2018Cookiesu2019, its not showing me the records of that u2018Cookiesu2019 segment in the analysis item. Itu2019s still showing the previous records i.e. for u2018Chocolateu2019 only rather than Cookies.
We checked the option for variable refreshment as well as workbook refreshment. But the problem still persists.
If anyone has any idea about this, please do share it.

hi.
check if your user has personalized the variables, because they won't show up if he refreshes. you have to call up the variable screen explicitly by using the option from the menu and then you can change the personalization setting.

Can we able to change the size/font of the Bex query variable screen?. I have a requirement where lot of variables used but query variable screen is not showing up all the variables including the 'execute,cancel, check' menu buttons.

Variable Screen in Analyzer 7.0

Dear All,
I am facing a peculiar problem with the variable screen.
The problem is even though I define the variables to be of type Interval or Selection Options, when I execute the query It shows the variable but allows on single entry.
But I do not have any issues in RSRT.
This is the following Analyzer I am using.
BI AddOn 7.X (based on 7.10)
Support Package 7
Revision 571.
Please let me know how to solve this issue.

Variable screen is taking too much time for some reports

We are using a sales billing cube for our billing reports . For one query , variable screen takes lot of time to come , i have in RSRT , i have generated the reoprt there and also executed the report there , it s fine there.Morever iam not using any customer exit variable for this.
Can anybody suggets me whats is the exact problem;

How I can improve further. Will it be good enough if I create Indexes on the columns for the temp table and try.or what If I use derived tables??
I suggest you start with index tuning. Specifically, make sure columns specified in the WHERE and JOIN columns are properly indexed (ideally clustered or covering, and unique when possible). Changing outer joins to inner joins is appropriate
if you don't need outer joins in the first place.
