RS485 LabVIEW interface not working with a constant
I need to control an RS 485 interface (not a National Instruments device).
I found a vi written by a colleague which I have attached.
This works perfectly, so I used a probe to identify the value being generated, and used this to replace the variables with a constant.
Now the vi doesn’t work. It runs, but the device it is connected to no longer activates. Then I found that by replacing only one variable with the constant, and keeping the other as a variable kept the vi working.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please ?
Of course, where I really want to get to is a vi that just reads and writes to a non-NI RS485 interface.
Many thanks.
Attachments:
RS485_usb.vi 55 KB
Using NI Measurement and Automation Explorer, I sent vset50\n and the instrument responded correctly by going to position 50.
Using the 485 example http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2674 202314.vi The documentation states that this example will only work with National Instruments RS-485 interfaces. I don’t have and NI 485 and not sure what difference it will make.
In 202314.vi I enabled the termination character since RS485_usb.vi 55 KB uses this and it works. Not sure what to do about Assert DTR and transceiver mode so I tried all combinations but kept getting error code 1073807330.
I looked at (Help>>Find Examples..>>search term "485"), but couldn’t pick anything out that I could apply here.
Yes, the randome numbers are now string constants in the block diagram. The string constant, now including \n, is placed at the VISA write input.
I’ve used Measurement and Automation Explorer to send the same command repetitively and there is no problem with this, the instrument jiggles back and forth and rests at the original position.
When the instrument doesn’t work, the vi completes without errors, but there is no instrument activity.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Interface not working with mavericks 10.9.3
is there anything apple can do i have pro fire 610 on mavericks upgrade os x 10.9.3 but driver no good and no updates help!!
Try uninstalling all the software and driver(s) from the interface manufacturer and restart your mac. Then plug your interface in and see if it will work.
I have a (different manufacturer) audio USB interface which never worked with any of the drivers from the manufacturer, with either Mountain Lion or Mavericks. Support at the manufacturer kept sending me beta drivers, none would work. I uninstalled everything and my Mac's generic audio capablilties were enough to "see" the interface and use it. -
Focusrite Saffire interface not working with FCP 4?
I can't seem to get my focusrite saffire audio interface to work properly with FCP? It works fine with all other apps (itunes, QT, Logic etc) and all the other Studio apps (Motion, DVD Pro and Soundtrack Pro) - but in Final Cut the sound is 'distorted' and 'jumpy'? All focusrite and FCP software is upto date.
Has anybody else had this sort of problem? Is anybody happily using the saffire with fcp? (I can't seem to find any on the search!)
it seems strange that it wont work with fcp but work with the other apps of the package? I can't see any sort of settings in fcp to solve this issue? Any help?!I am actually only using it to play back audio 'syncd' with picture straight off camera or importing clips from quicktime/DVD's etc. in FCP - it is this that I can't hear correctly? (all the clips are fine by the way played in other aps etc)
Yes, editing is done in Soundtrack Pro or Logic Pro (used to have pro-tools mbox - but decided to ditch it and go down the Logic route with another interface!) - but I expect to be able to hear basic audio with picture in FCP?

I have been using an M-AUDIO usb interface for garageband for the last year,i recently installed logic express 8 and i just can't get any sound whilst trying to record, logic displays a signal in the channel strip but no sound comes from my monitors, only when i plug the ear phones into the interface can i hear what i'm recording.I've tried every trouble shooting option in my apple pro training book like monitoring and audio preferences.I've contacted M-AUDIO but they just put me on hold as if there really busy!!!
in the end M-audio emailed me and blamed logic, they told me to contact apple,W@**ERS!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of M-Audio!!! Now, what you are doing is perfectly NORMAL. You need to hook up speakers to your audio interface. Where the little diagram says so:
http://www.m-audio.com/layout/imgview.php?i=/images/en/connectivity/big/mobilepr eusbcd779px.gif
See? The reason this is so, is because when you are using this interface, you are BOTH using the inputs AND outputs. Logic always works like this, it is a requirement to use "a full-duplex sound card" which means a sound card that has inputs and outputs.

M-audio blaming everyone else is not new, however, your "issue" is a user issue, not a gear issue.

USB Interface Not Working With Logic Pro 9
Hello,
I've had a Tascam US-1641 for several years now with absolutely zero issues on my old PC. Ever since I upgraded to Mac (early 2011 17 inch Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard) I've had nothing but problems with the US-1641. No matter how many times I uninstall-reinstall the drivers and what USB port I plug it into, whenever I turn on the device and it's connected to my Macbook, it crashes my operating system and it freezes everything I was doing. Logic Pro doesn't load and when it sometimes does (10 minutes later), it immediately crashes when I click anything.
I've tried several tips to fix it and nothing worked. The most popular choice was select the default input/output in Logic to the system audio, then quit Logic, turn on the interface, then restart Logic. No such luck. I have to reboot my machine at least 5 times, uninstall/reinstall the driver and hope it works to use the interface. I thought it was the operating system, so I upgraded to Mountain Lion and installed the new driver for Mountain Lion, after of course deleting the other drivers and removing all previous data, and it is still giving me the same problems.
I don't have the money to afford a replacement model or a different interface from a different company, so I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out what exactly it is that's causing the interface to freeze my operating system and crashing my Mac whenever I try to use it. I am getting extremely frustrated at this and as much as I love OSX and Logic, what good is this piece of software if I can't use it? I need help.
Thank you.The problem lies with Tascam and their inability to write stable drivers for OS X... and isn't anything to do with Logic Pro ..
As you know, you are not the only person to have had this issue and the reality is, while the 1641 might work fine with Windows, when it comes to OS X Macs.. it's an entirely different story... depending on the version of OS XS you are running.
The one tip I have read, that seemed to fix it for most people.. (Though not all) is as follows;
(Thanks to Paulypaulpaul for this)
-uninstall your tascam driver 2.10
-restart
-install driver 1.03
-restart
-plug in your tascam
-goto where you download your drivers (http://tascam.com/product/us-1641/downloads/), scroll down to the bottom where it says firmware, Download the firmware 1.02 (3rd from top under firmware), install it. your control panal should now read 1.03 for your drivers and 1.02 for your firmware.
-install drivers 2.10
-restart
Follow each of the steps exactly.. including all restarts when indicated..
...and good luck... -
Audio interface not working with Mavericks
I know this has been asked before, but I only just got Mavericks and it won't recognise my M-Audio MobilePre as an output source. I've tried installing new drivers but it didn't work. Now I have $800+ of equipment that I can't use. Is there anything else I can try to fix it? Or can I downgrade my OS?
I think it's something you need to take up with Avid.
Firstly, do Avid support the hardware on Mavericks? If they do, then that means it's a unique problem which hopefully can be fixed.
Secondly, are any relevant messages being logged when you access System Preferences > Sound or Audio MIDI Setup? Open Console utility, and have a look. You can filter for particular search terms, but start by looking at the time you do it. -
I am running 10.8 and I am trying to get a E-mu 1x1 midi/usb connector to work with my keyboards. It's not working with any keyboard at all. I believe it is a Mainstage/Mac issue. Mainstage can recognize the the interface but it won't work.
Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

External USB HD does not work with HAL:
From the last 10 days the HAL auto-mount with ntfs-3g file system of my external hard drive does not woks.
But the manual mount procedure with the command mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb* /mnt/XYZ works.
I've followed the instructions in the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL and the system has worked up to the last kernel or HAL update.
My fat32 usb-stick works without any problem.

Bye.I have done the following:
Downloaded the patched hal version.
used makepkg in /abs/local/trunk/ to create a pkg for pacman
used sudo pacman -U pkgname to install it.
used sudo nano /etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi to create the fdi file with the following content:
saved the file and removed my ntfs entryes from fstab and rebooted. and still there is no automount off ntfs partitions.
have i done something wrong?
br fjodork
WARNING: what follows is a guide of what did work for me, I'm still in an early stage of learning linux, so please correct me if anything of what follows is wrong/dangerous/stupid. As I said, this worked for me, it's not pretty, since I was learning each step on the fly and I'm sure there are better ways to do this.
So fjodork, you seem to have done the the necessary steps, though i couldn't get it to work until i first removed hal without dependencies
pacman -Rd hal
it will give you some warning about the dependencies, ignore it since we are reinstalling hal in a few steps.
First i tried to follow Raymano's link, obviously it showed me nothing in the browser so I thought it might be a broken link.
So I downloaded the source tarball from here http://hal.freedesktop.org/releases/hal-0.5.10.tar.gz
unpacked it changed the /tools/hal-storage-mount.c as per Milfadoodle's instructions.
at first I tried to compile directly from source, the process would finish without a glitch though after reboot nothing changed, as if hal weren't
installed, i guess there were issues with paths. anyway read on
Then repacked the source in tarball, copied it to /var/abs/extra/system/hal and modified the PKGBUILD as follows
makedepends=('pkgconfig' 'gperf')
options=('!libtool')
install=hal.install
source=(${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.gz #removed url so makepkg looks in the current directory for the tarball
hal
hal-policy.patch
cryptsetup_location.patch
hal-0.5.9-hide-diagnostic.patch
ntfs3g-valid-options.patch)
md5sums=('6641c30a27c00485c6accac5110ff911' # replace with md5sum of your package's sourceball (run md5sum filename)
'882f67668cb14a0a9e4a27ef22278027'
'5ba8b610aa9763a5f42b9f7cbd7a86ad'
then makepkg (i had to add --asroot, don't ask why
and finally pacman -U hal-0.5.10-1-i686.pkg
another reboot and everything worked without a glitch!:D (yeah i know i still haven't got rid of the reboot mentality )
I have also put the policy files as per the wiki instructions.
PS: I know this is a dirty way to getting things done but as i said, I'm just starting
If anyone could comment/correct/explain this post I'd be more than happy, the automount issue was bothering me for about a month now (you'll say why do I need ntfs in the first place? well, I only recently switched for Linux as my primary OS, these are some relics of the M$ era -
My 4th gen iPod Touch does not work with Ford sync since updating OS
When I updated my iPod to the new os, it does not work with my ford sync system anymore. how do I fix this?
Have lots of issues with Fords MySync and here's some info that might help....
Using ford sync interface, goto the phone section, then settings, and look if your iPhones name is listed, if so select the phone name thru sync interface and remove/delete it from the sync list, then go thru the Bluetooth pairing process again.
If that doesn't work, do the same on the iPhone, select ford sync entry in Bluetooth and remove sync or forget this device on the iPhone and then go thru Bluetooth pairing again.
If that doesn't work Power off iphone ( not sleep) hold power button till you see red slider to power off. Then restart iphone, try pairing up again.
If that doesn't work go back to MySync and goto phone settings and use the up-down slider till you see sync master reset. Confirm then go thru BT pairing again.
If that doesn't work there is a fuse for the my sync system. Fuse box is usually behind kick panel of front passenger seat side for the Mustang #3, its behind a paper black cover. Remove fuse for 5-30 secs then replace.
Lastly, make sure your MySync Firmware is the latest vers. Mines 4.0.2 goto fords MySync support page to check
http://www.ford.com/syncmyride/
or call 1-800-392-3673 Opt 3
A google search might help for your model and year if not a newer mustang and you couldn't get to ford.
Good Luck -
Wintergame does not work with 10.8 and no assistence from apple or the seller
I have bought in the official Apple Ap Store the game Wintergames. But it does not work with mit OSX 10.8.3
Every i try to load this programm it brakes down. I have contacted the seller. He is not interested in the problem and gave only the hint to re-intall the programm. This i have done 3 times. It does not work. I have get in contact with the Apple Support. They answered me they were not responsible for that.
And i ask me.... why do Apple sell programms in their own stores, that do not work.
This is the remark it get, if i start this programm:

TOTAL 998.4M
TOTAL, minus reserved VM space 998.3MHi,
here are some more informations about the problem.
The root CA certificate is imported as trusted in the system keychain of the server and the client. A certificate evaluation returns "valid certificates, trusted ...".
The client bind fails with this messages, e.g. Kerio Control is able the use LDAPS, so it seams just the problem with the trustability of the certificates. Keychain trusts the certificates, OD client bind not, this is not so consistent.
Any idee?
Thanks
Henri

Can LabView FPGA module work with non-NI FPGAs?
Simple Question: Can the LabView FPGA Module work with other FPGAs? Im assuming yes, but id like ot make sure first. Normaly I go with NI for most of my stuff, but they just are lacking in the FPGA hardware for what I need, but Im accustumed to LabView so I would like to stick with that to program it.
Thanks!
-MarkUsing LabVIEW and LabVIEW RT you can access the registers on any PCI/PXI card using the NI-VISA driver. NI-VISA also allows you to handle interrupts and DMA data. For interrupts you will not actually write an interrupt service routine (ISR) in LabVIEW. Instead the VISA driver will acknowledge the interrupt to the card and then pass a VISA event to the LabVIEW application letting the application know that it needs to process the interrupt. Hallo,
I have an issue with a bdc FM i created not working with workflow.
If I test the FM, it works ok.
If i Test the method calling the FM it works ok.
if i test the task calling the method it works ok.
If I run the workflow it doesn't work, and i get the following messages:
S DC 1 Unable to initialise ABAP Control Framework ...
S DC 1 Unable to initialise ABAP Control Framework ...
S DC 6 Control Framework: Fatal error - GUI cannot be reached
A SY 2 Exception condition "CNTL_ERROR" raised.
What is the meaning of this??
Bdc is calling Me54n to set to click on reject button during Purchase Requisition Release,
putting the PR processing state in status '08'
I checked all the binding which are fine. No container parameter are passed a part from the business object.
here is the FM coding:
