RSA Secure ID - seed file query

Hello!
I had to come to Microsofts forum for help, as the company behind RSA don't have support for ''non-enterprise'' (coined) customers.
My company installed RSA Secure ID so I can generate a ''soft token'' to log onto my companies Citrix apps, and open CRM software etc.
This soft token works with a ''seed file'' that my company gives me, that is unique to a serial number that RSA generates based on my unique PC.
My question is this; I know that the seedfile I received is bound to my hard drive as the software generates a unique serial number for
every install, and it pertains to the hardware (and perhaps bound to the motherboard also)
I'm wondering that if I need to re install Windows 8.1 (eg
system image restore)  onto the same hard drive, for whatever reason, will the serial generated by my hard drive be the same
and therefore allow me to use the seed file my company supplied me, that is dedicated to the serial number.   For example, restoring from a system image.
I have no idea if any users would know this outside of EMC (company behind RSA)  but, even my IT dept. in my company don't know!
And I don't want to ''test'' this scenario out, for the fear I won't be able to work!
Any help from IT pros/power users would be fantastic.
Cheers!

The problem could be with your Secure ID RSA server.

  • ACS 4.2 with multiple RSA secure ID token servers

    Hi all,
I have a question which I couldn't find an answer to so far.  Below is a very brief explaination of what I have and what I need to do.
    What I have:
1- An ACS 4.2 server installed on win 2003 with RSA agent installed.
2- A RSA Secure ID Token Authentication manger 7.1
    The problem:
Due to lost RSA master password I am unable to back the DB up and upgrade RSA AM 7.1 to 7.1 SP4.
So far all the solution I have found and been told to do by RSA support have not enabled me to recover the lost password.
    What I want to do:
I want to install a fresh copy of RSA AM 7.1 SP4 on Win 2008 R2
Since I can't make a DB backup from the running RSA, once I install the fresh copy I will migrate users one by one
    My question:
This is a very busy production environment and users can't tolorate down time at all.
I need to keep everything running, I need to know if it is possible to have 2 RSA data sotres setup within ACS 4.2 or not?
And if so, will migrated users to the new RSA installation be still able to authenticate or not?
Can ACS send multiple authentication request simultaneously or not? And what happenes if a user is present in both instances of RSA, old and new?
    Thanks,
    Khash

I have this setup and working. Set up an external database connection on the ACS for a RADIUS server (not RSA) and setup your RSA server with the RADIUS shared secret. Check IP connectivity between both, and make sure that the RSA server is the first database to be queried. Here you are just using Radius to pass through the auth from the ACS to the RSA server.

  • Seed File

    Hi,
I have an query, I am trying to add about 1000 windows XP hosts onto cisco mars using seed file. From seed file instruction as per cisco mars I have filled all things in seed file, but where can I fill the interface IP setting in seed file.
Since I dont want to use pull method, I dont want to provide any username or password for that.
I had filled in this columns in Seed File :
Column A : windows host name
    Column E : WINDOWS
    Column F : RPC
Column U : Access IP Address
On importing this into cs-mars, I get an error message "Status: 5 line(s) in the file 'X.csv' have errors. Some of them may have been partially imported. Rest of the error-free lines are successfully imported. Please view backend log for detailed information."
On checking if the device was successfully imported, I find the all details being filled with receive checkbox checked by default but the under the tab "Enter interface information" there is no details filled.
Want to check if incase any windows machine have more than one interface IP how do I add using seed file.
    Thank you.

  • What is the best practice in securing deployed source files

    hi guys,
Just yesterday, I developed a simple image cropper using ajax
and flash. After compiling the package, I notice the
package/installer delivers the same exact source files as in
    developed to the installed folder.
This doesnt concern me much at first, but coming to think of
it. This question keeps coming out of my head.
"What is the best practice in securing deployed source
    files?"
How do we secure application installed source files from
being tampered. Especially, when it comes to tampering of the
source files after it's been installed. E.g. modifying spraydata.js
files for example can be done easily with an editor.

    Hi,
You could compute a SHA or MD5 hash of your source files on
first run and save these hashes to EncryptedLocalStore.
On startup, recompute and verify. (This, of course, fails to
address when the main app's swf / swc / html itself is
    decompiled)

  • File Query Cookbook Now Available

For some time now we've been talking publicly about our plans to create a collaborative community portal for accessing and sharing Custom Query reports. Well, today we launched the site. Entitled “File Query Cookbook,” the new site lets Novell File Reporter users view and copy the SQL commands needed to create specific Custom Query reports. Once copied, you can paste them into either of Novell File Reporter’s two query editors, modify them to your liking, and then generate the reports.
File Query Cookbook even includes graphics that show you how the report will look when generated using the Report Designer.
In addition to SQL commands, File Query Cookbook also includes sample Custom Query report layouts that you can import into the Report Designer. Just like the pasted SQL commands, you can modify the report layout design to your liking.
The present content on the site is still a little sparse, but it’s a good starting point. We will be working on adding more content this week, and we expect Novell File Reporter customers like you to soon be submitting their own Custom Query reports that they have written.
You can access the File Query Cookbook directly through the soon-to-be released Novell File Reporter 2.6 Report Designer interface, or at http://www.filequerycookbook.com.

    hi
I need to reset the RSA secure ID pin for a user using the OIM API's. Has anyone worked on the same , if so, please guide me on this.
    Thanks,
    Anuj.

    Patrick,
We have a 3rd party API to integrate 9iAS components (including Portal) with other authentication servers. For 9iAS R2, it's described in the SSO admin guide http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/90200doc_otn/manage.902/a96115/tpsso.htm#1005152
(and the same API also exists for 9iAS 1.0/Portal 3.0).
I've heard of folks using this API to integrate custom SSO servers, biometric systems, RADIUS servers, etc.. I am curious if anyone out there has used the API with SecureID.

  • MARS - Load From Seed File fails

    Hi, everybody.
I have problem with importing larger number of devices into MARS using Load from Seed File funcionality. I successfully connect to FTP server but I receive following error:
Status: Errors occured while retrieving csv file from ftp server. sed: can't read /tmp/mars.csv: No such file or directory while executing "exec sed -i "s/\15//g" /tmp/$fileName" (file "./ftpconfig.exp" line 243)
Any ideas how to resolve it ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
It seems to me that if you have any of the following characters in SNMP string "/\.*[]^$" it could make problems to sed which is parsing the file. Try to change SNMP strings to avoid those characters.
