RSKC is in BW special characters has had no effect
HI All,
We have problems while loading :
Value 'SD009# ' (Hex ' ') ZSDEVT contains unauthorized characters
We added # and executed (F8 button )to RSKC in BWP. But no use still we get the same error.
1. Why RSKC is not functiong well, Our version is BW2.1c?
How to solve?
2. How to define a datasource in CMOD in r/3 for TEXT data sources. Please send some sample code?
Please help me.
Thanks
Sri
Hi,
I don't think that the character is really the #. This is just how it is displayed. Check your source system for that record and you might get the right idea. In addition to rskc, you can allow lower case letters to be posted to your infoobject via checking the box in the infoobject maintenance. For some more ideas, check this: /people/siegfried.szameitat/blog/2005/07/18/text-infoobjects-part-1
There is no need to goto cmod for defining datasources. Custom datasources are defined in rso2. Specially for texts there is normally no need for coding. Texts can be extracted from domains and/or text tables.

some pictures(jpeg or gif) come as part of email if i use IE9 these images open as part of the mail, but with firefox i have to download them separately and then they don't appear in email. i have been in the options menu and allowed yahoo.com to automatically load images but this has had no effect, thanks
Sounds like you did this on the fly.
MM is supposed to open the Marker Panel Dialogue
M just sets a marker
Not sure if either are intended for on the fly during playback .
There is also a Marker Icon on the Source Window Pane >> -
Recently McAfee recommended I block 'roaming.dwm.exe' which I did. Could that have caused the problem? Since then I have swapped to AVG which found 3 Trojans and removed them, but I still cannot access Firefox. I have checked my Internet Connections settings and nothing is entered there.
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Connection
Try selecting the "No Proxy" setting. If it doesn't work, select "Use System Settings". If this still doesn't solve the problem, leave the setting at "Use System Settings", then check your connection's settings (in Windows, not FF). -
The ease of use of special characters has been a major strength of the Mac OS since the very foundation. Now I find in Lion I hvae to do a very Windoze-like thing and open a Special Characters dialog and search for the character I want from a confusing jumble of them. The use of apple-e for an accent egu was intuitie for me the first time I discovered it, and nearly all accents and special characters were easy for me to figure out without resorting to a separate window. (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3871) It wasn't broke--why did they fix it?
KingTor wrote:

It has never been apple-e. It has always been alt/option-e. Does that really not work for you now? It certainly does for me. -
Hi there,
I have some special characters that I need in my BW to be accepted both in lowercase and uppercase. It is special eastern European letter that are contained in my customer data (names and addresses).
When I enter a lowercase character in RCKS it is automatically converted into uppercase. Is it sufficient to enter the character in uppercase for the load to accept both lowercase and uppercase of the character?
Kind regards, TorbenHi Torben,
RSKC accept capital letters. But you can force the system to accept lowercase letters. For it you need to check 'Lowercase letters' in the infoobject maintenance screen.
However, ODS and cubes will not accept these lowercase letters if you feed them as infoobjects' key values. The most flexible way to keep texts with lowercase letters in infoobjects' texts and show them in queries as attributes or texts of IOs.
Best regards,
Eugene

Hi,
Actually in RSKC there is special character like #.But while loading the data will struckup in NEW DATA itself.Field containing the # key record and that data packet will struck up there only.Hi,
As a long term you can apply some user exit in source system side or change your update rules to ensure that this field is getting blanked out before getting loaded in cube or add that particular char to permitted character list in BW.
RSKC --> type ALL_CAPITAL --> F8 (Execute)
OR
Go to SE38 and execute the program RSKC_ALLOWED_CHAR_MAINTAIN and give ALL_CAPITAL or the char you want to add.
Check the table RSALLOWEDCHAR. It should contain ALL_CAPITAL or the char you have entered.

What does IE browser do when the slug value in the request header has special characters?
Hi ,
I would like to know how does IE browser handle slug if the value field has certain special characters.
For example if the slug header has special characters while posting the http request (say "äøéëåæ")
Then I see using http watch under the "Stream"tab , the slug value is getting converted to a different value(now the value for the above mentioned slug is " äøéëåÃ")
Could someone please explain how does this happen in IE browser?
Thanks alot,
NeelajaIt will disable the proxy server option in Internet Options (untick the box), but will still store your proxy details.

Embedded font has extra space after special characters
I've built a web-based Flash movie for a major client. The SWF uses an embedded font and loads text from an XML document. The client is localizing it for several languages, which of course include special characters. In this case, the å character is giving us problems -- it always renders with an extra space after it. For example, the Danish word spørgsmål is rendered as spørgsmå l.
I might be inclined to think something's wrong with the font, because it doesn't happen with other fonts. However, some Googling turned up several other cases of people with similar problems using different fonts.
When I remove the font embedding, the problem disappears. I can watch it do this right in the IDE. As soon as I embed characters again, the phantom space returns. And it doesn't happen in any other applications.
I've spent many hours trying all kinds workarounds, but I've come up with nothing so far. As I said, I've found several other mentions of this problem but the only solution I've seen is "use a different font." In this case I can't -- it's a corporate identity font that's required for this project!
If it makes any difference, I'm linking the font in the library, then specifying the embedded characters for the text fields. I also have text fields created entirely in Actionscript (AS3) that behave exactly the same way.
Please tell me there's a solution to this! I'm pretty positive this is a Flash bug at this point, though I'd be happy if someone proved me wrong.Hi,
I read the following on another discussion in this forum:
it appears that with the shortkey ctrl+shift+Y you can force the pc to work around the system fonts
Maybe that helps.

Special Characters (holding key) has erratic behavior in Word 2008
I am trying to hunt down a mystery for a friend using her macbook air (Lion).
She is trying to add special characters (accents, etc.) to words in a MIcrosoft Word 2008 document.
Sometimes she can hold the key, and the special characters menu will pop up. Sometimes she will get the "old" repeating letter (eeeeeeeeeeeee). I tried to look at everything I could think of, but there seems to be no earthly reason why it does it sometimes but not all the time.
The only explanation I could guess at was that it was Word 2008 and Lion (and not Word 2011).
Does anyone know any fixes or explanations?I suggest you post your question on Microsofts forums for Mac Office as it's their software you're having issues with:

HTML special characters in form input
In my site I store form input in my database. Before I store
the data, I parse out smart quotes, en dashes, and other extended
special characters and convert them into HTHML quivalents such as
’
All is well and good until the user goes to edit their info.
In my form these characters show up in my <input> tags as
their long-winded HTML equivalents, such as ’ instead of
a smart apostrophe.
Is there any way to convert these back to the special
characters from the HTML on the form input text fields so that
users can edit them without being confused?
Thanks.Hmmm, well I ran the MX 6.1 updater and installed the two hot
fixes that had to do with null pointer exceptions and it still does
not work.
Here is the detailed error I'm getting, if it helps. Any more
ideas? Thanks again for the help, I'm really stuck on this one...

When viewing most text on most websites, it displays properly. However, there are two instances where text will either tend to, or consistently, become jumbled into a mess of seemingly random characters. Oddly enough, these seemingly random characters are not, in fact, random. The same weird character will be used to replace the same regular English text character consistently across the entire area that has been jumbled.
The two instances where this tends to occur most often, or consistently in some cases, are, first, when a paragraph or particular section of formatted text contains special characters, such as Chinese or Japanese characters, or accented letters. When this happens, usually the paragraph that contains the special characters is completely jumbled, while the rest of the text on the page will have intermittent jumbling on a word or two. Most often, the word "the" is jumbled in this case.
The second instance where this happens is when a website uses specially formatted text in some form or another. I, not being an expert at web development, am not sure what kind of formatting causes it, but I can provide consistent examples in lieu of my experience:
- Example 1:
Example 1 shows a portion of a screen-shot of the website "Joystiq.com". Every single article title on the front page of this blog is consistently jumbled, while the text of the article itself remains untouched. Please note that when this jumbled text is highlighted, it is visible un-jumbled in the right-click menu as well as in the source code of the page. Other consistent instances can be found within many search fields on various websites. For instance, the search bar located at the top right of "Kotaku.com" consistently displays jumbled characters both on its default text of "Search" and on any text that is typed into the search box itself.
- Example 2:
Example 2 shows both the jumbling of the paragraph containing the character "☆" as well as the subsequent peppering of the rest of the article's text with small jumbled words. Below this is the DOM Source of the selected text which shows how the text itself is being rendered properly within the site's source. Additionally, for convenience, I have edited on to the bottom of the image a small snippet of what the search bar on the same page looks like. Notice how the grayed-out text that normally would read "Search" is instead jumbled.
This issue has been plaguing my browser for the past year or so, and I had hoped that it would go away with subsequent Firefox updates. It has not gone away.
Thank you for reading! Please help! This issue can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or see if you can find a True type version that doesn't show the problem.
There have also been fonts with a Chinese name reported that identify themselves as Helvetica, so check that as well.
Use this test to see if the Helvetica font is causing it (Copy & Paste the code in the location bar and press Enter):
<pre><nowiki>data:text/html,
Helvetica<br><font face="Helvetica" size="25">abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ</font><br>
Helvetica Neue<br><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="25">abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ</font>
</nowiki></pre>
You should reset the network.http prefs that show user set on the about:config page.<br />
Not all websites support http pipelining and if they do not then you can have issues with images or other problems.

How to add special characters in Flash CS3
Hi, i need the help of some flash guru… these last weeks we were working with cloversites.com to build a community website… the interface is awesome etc etc however we in Malta have eight special characters (GCZ with a dot on top of them and an H with a second strikethrough). Those at cloversites wrestled with the problem, they could see the characters on their computers but when they entered the text in the site, flash couldn't render the special characters. Here is their message:
I am extremely sorry about this, but we were unable to add in your characters. We attempted to add them into our software but they did not work. We worked on it all morning and realized that we need an extra add-on for our keyboards. Adding special characters is nothing new to us and have answered this request for many of our international users. For some reason, the Maltese characters did not work in our sites. For example, our "option-G" is the copyright symbol so it will need to be transferred over to international characters.
Unfortunately, we thing that this has to do with Adobe Flash CS3. The software allowed me to embed the characters, but we were unable to render them on the web. Which led us to think it had to do with the version Adobe is running and its inability to render the text through its software on the web. None of the characters worked on the web, and it looks like its just an Adobe bug. So we are able to type and use the Maltese characters, but Adobe Flash is having trouble with them.
Does anybody know of any possible solution?see if codepoints-to-string() is suitable for you ..

Error in PSA with special characters
Hello,
I'm having a problem with sprecial characters in PRD system.
This happen with standard extractor for Confirmations in SRM module, 0BBP_TD_CONF_1.
I have 5 records with error in PSA. The field that have the error is 0bbp_delref and it has the text: GUIA ENTREGA Nº2.
The error message says that field OBBP_DELREF has special characters that are not supported by BW.
The field is char 16 and in spro I have the characters:
QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLǪNºZXCVBM/~^´`* '()"#$%&!?.-0123456789«»<>
In QUA, I created confirmations with this text and it worked fine and the characters in SPRO are the same.
Any idea?
Thanks and best regards,
MariaHi Maria,
There will be no issue with update rules as the issue is with Data..
ALL_CAPITAL should resolve your issue, .otherwise try individually executing those spl characters in RSKC..
have you tried in SPRO...
Check in this table RSALLOWEDCHAR in SE11 and find what all characters allowed(permitted) in PRD system...
please go through the above mentioned blog once
Thanks,

PDFs using BI publisher and special characters - pound sterling
I have a table with character strings which include the £ pound sterling sign.
If I create an xml file from the table using the escape sequence for the pound sign & # 163; and load it into BI publisher, the pdf renders correctly using an rtf template.
If I include the pound sign in the rtf template itself the pdf renders correctly and if I use a report query in Apex based on the table, and an rtf template then the pdf renders correctly.
However there is a limit to the number of columns that can be sent to BI via the report query - we have found this to be 119 columns. For more than this we have been using a stored function to return xml data as a clob and use the clob to generate the pdf with the rtf report layout (using get_print_document). This method works fine but the pound sign is not rendered correctly (appears as "?").
The NLS_LANG is set to english_united kingdom in the database and in BI publisher. The locale in bi publisher is en_GB. BI will create the pdf correctly with the pound sign if using a standard xml file (with escape seq for pound) so I am sure it is not a language issue in BI/Apex.
Any ampersands in the xml cause the pdf to fail completely and we cannot represent special characters with a sequence containing the ampersand for this reason. I have tried "& # 163;" and "& amp;#163;" and variations and have also tried using CDATA, none of which gives the correct pdf output. I have also tried to switch the encoding to Windows-1252 or ISO-8859-1 in the header of the xml (xml generated by stored procedure so can control this), but this gives incorrect results too.
We also need to send other special characters to BI via get_print_document and apex (bullet points, ampersands, dashes ) but cannot use the escape sequences because of the ampersand problem.
Has anyone had any success with this?
Is there any plan ( for a future version of Apex) to increase the number of columns that can be used in report query using Apex/BI publisher?
Thanks
KathrynHi Kathryn
I've had exactly the same problem as you've mentioned.
Firstly, I've also found that I cannot select more than 119 columns from a view using a report query and have opted to the use the stored function to return the xml (same as you).
After conducting a lot of searching and experimenting i've found that you can use the following escape characters in REPLACE in your stored function:-
'£' can be replaced with CHR(194)||CHR(163)
'%' can be replaced with '%25'
'&' can be replaced with '%26amp;'
I found the above escape characters from the xml file or by opening the xml file in Wordpad. Therefore I'm sure you'll be able to find the escape characters for the other symbols that you mentioned i.e. bullet points, dashes etc.
I hope this has helped. Good luck and let me know if you get any developments with the limitation on the number of columns that can be selected from a report query as this would save a lot of trouble (as I'm sure you're aware).
Thanks
