Rsplan filter for planning function

Hi.
When creating button in bex analyzer for launching some planning function there is point Use selection from Data Provider
where I see only providers based on queries, but none of filters created in transaction rsplan.
What i am doing wrong?

Search "Creating Planning Applications in the BEx Analyzer" in help.sap.com or google.
In the context menu of the button, choose Properties. The first dialog box for the command wizard appear
   a.      Select Planning-Specific Command, and choose Next ->.
   b.      Choose the required planning-specific command:
                i.       Select Execute Planning Function.
                ii.       Select the required planning function and data provider DP_01 as the filter.

Hi Rama,
It seems there are two diff. functional modules (UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE AND UPC_BUNDLE_EXECUTE_STEP). The second one divides the planning sequesces on the basis of something you specify (e.g. company code). Just make sure that you are using correct FM.

Assignment of filter to planning function in integrated planning

Dear experts
I am a bit new in Integrated planning and have a following conceptual question regarding filter object in IP
In IP it seems that filter is a substitute object for planning package in BSP.
I however do not see any possibility to assign filter to a planning function except in a planning sequence. I would however imagine to have a functionality to dynamically select the filter when i want to execute a planning function via application (excel based or Web).
It seems that filter is not even required if a planning function is executed seperately (not as part of planning sequence).
I have tried to execute a simple copy function without having any filter at all and it works.
Could someone pls. explain me as to the conceptual difference between object filter and object planning package.

Filter is indeed used in IP similar to how planning package was used in BPS. There really is no difference 'conceptually'.
What you have seen is the different options IP offers compared to BPS regarding planning function execution. You can execute planning function directly or using a planning sequence in an application (although in planning modeler, its only a planning sequence that can be executed, for eg., for testing purpose).
If you just execute a planning function without specifying any restriction, it will operate on the entire set of planning data. Whether its a planning sequence or planning function, the data it operates on can be restricted by binding the various characteristics (or variables) using various DPs in the application. What kind of dynamic selection are you looking at?

Input Help (F4) does not work for Planning Functions in Web

Hi Gurus,
I am working in BI-Integrated Planning.
When I execute a planning function from web layout (through Web Application Designer), the "Input Help" does not work. When I give F4 it takes me to the initial planning layout screen from the planning function variable screen without any action being performed.
But the "Input Help" works fine when I have to select for the variable from the initial selection to open the planning layout.
Can anyone suggest me any fix for this...

If you record an authorization log for your planning sequence you can see what objects are checked and this should help you to create authorizations to restrict access:
To record authorization logs for planning sequences, you have to go to RSECADMIN, activate that trace for the user and run the planning sequence as usual. See detailed steps below:
1. Activate the authorization log
- Go to RSECADMIN transaction
- change to "Analysis" tab and click on "Error logs" button.
- There you can see the "Configure Log Recording". Click on it.
- It will open a new screen, add the user which need to has the authorization log recorded.
- save it.
2. Open a new windows and execute the planning sequence.
- you can use the RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE report in se38 or other way to run it
3. Deactivate the authorization log recording
- following the same steps to activate the log, delete the user which you added in the step 1.
4. Check the authorization log
- Go back to RSECADMIN transaction
- change to "Analysis" tab and click on "Error logs" button.
- select the time interval to find your authorization log (or delete selections to see all)
- click on "display" button
- find your recorded log
- double click on it to open the log
- analyze it.

Authorization for Planning Function

Hello All,
I want to exclude users in a WEB Planning Application from a planning function which copies data from one version to another.
I have deactivated the following authorization objects, but still the user can use the copy function.
R_METHOD
R_PACKAGE
R_PARAM
R_PLEVEL
R_PM_NAME
R_PROFILE
R_STS_CUST
R_STS_PT
R_STS_SUP
Only when I take away R_AREA the user cannot copy anymore but he also cannot access the planning layout to enter data manually.
Any ideas?

Hi Harry,
between authorization object for planning exist hierarchycal relationship.
So if you use object R_AREA with activity "Execute" the user can execute all area's opbjects.
If you want limit the execution of planning method you must use object R_METHOD with activity "Execute" only for function that user can execute.

In member lookup window is possible to filter members by "HIR=H1;H2".
But when we trying to use this syntax in the EVMBR function appears
error message "Format of user defined filter is invalid". How could we

Hi Teja,
Please use a single value for the filter. HIR=H1.
In this case, when you double click on that cell, it will open up the member selection dialogue box, with the filter as HIR=H1. If you use multiple values for the same property, it wont work. However, you can have filter based on multiple properties. The only thing to be noted is that you can have only one value for a property.

DPM custom filter for planned tape backups crashes mmc.

I am currently seeing this problem on a production Windows Server 2012\DPM 2012 Sp1 (Version 4.1.3465.8) and am wondering whether this could be related to the upcoming time change this weekend.
All other filters work fine - pulling back up to 7000 jobs. SQL DB passes DBCC checkdb with data_purity fine.
Could this be a bug ?

Mike,
any chance a future DPM version can/will leverage SQL Management studio/SQL Agent for backup job scheduling ? I am sure many DPM admins who (may) know the significantly greater scheduling flexibility of SQL server agent would love to
see this happen.
The proposed workaround would require to build at least 6 additional filters (given the current filter uses the allowed max 7 days) and during 2 weeks in the year the unaware/unprepared DPM admin - may perceive the mmc crash as the beginning of the
end.
Please tell me someone is willing to look at the source code to get this remedied. I know this cant be a SQL problem since SQL server agent jobs run fine time change or no time change.

Forecast planning functions/sequences

Hi,
I want to ask you for some advice in two issues. We want to create forecast that is based on actual data from Actual data cube and this forecast save to Forecast data cube (both cubes are in multiprovider)
1) I created sequence , for that I use filter and planning function type forecast. Is it some relationship between historic data filter in forecast planning function setting and "classic" filter (part of planning sequence), It looks that u201Eclassic filter is stronger than historic data filter, so no data from base cube are readu2026 When i use filter with small restriction some data are read...
2) When I created forecast planning function, I use historic data filter for specification of base data for forecast (I used Actual data cube and another restrictions) but I can´t find anywhere some target field for restriction, so I dont know to which cube will be data saved and with which restriction...

If I understand good forecast planning function create data with same restriction as is used in Historic data filter only with another time horizont, Am I wright?
So the data will be saved to the same cube where is "based" data - in my case Actual data cube and there no possibility to choose Forecast cube for it. So we will have to than use some copy function to copy data to Forecast cube...
I found in help.sap.com some example of forecast scenario, it looks that in this scenario also version are changed from Actuals to PLAN_LIN, but maybe it s only my opinion...

Agg level, filter and plng function

Hi,
I have selected all objects from infoprovider in agg level.
In FILTER i selecte 5 characterists and gave restrictions.
In planning function [COPY), I selected 7 characteristics and gave from change and TO change criteria.
In planning sequece i gave the agglevel, filter and planning function.
1. What will happen when i execute to planning function when i selected more number of characteristics which are not in filter?
2. Will this impact in any way when i create input ready query?
3. What are the main things that need to be considered when creating inupt ready query?

Questions on Commands for planning application

1. Where can i get the information on commands for planning functions?
2. What is the difference between
---Execute planning function simple and -

3. I create planning layout with few buttons

c. Change. : clicked on the change and changed few values and then clicked on SAVE button. Data got saved into my planning cube.
Now I my requirement is when user open the planning layout, It should only be in display mode. But currently automatically all the keyfigures are in change mode (Is it because in query designer, I checked "Start query in the change mode?)
When user opens the planning layout, he should run the copy function, then should save the data into the planning cube and then should be allowed to chagne. Change button should be in active until data is saved into the plannigng cube. IS this possible?

User wants something like this
1. Execute the planning layout.
2. Click on the copy function
3. Save the data
4. Click on the change button so that data can be changed now.
As per your solution, without have change button its working perfectly. But now i want to have change button on the layout. Initially change button should be disabled. When i save the data then it should get active.
I did the following things but didnt work
1. Save button i have two commands
a. Save data
b. Set_item_parameters
2. Change button> disable>set_data_entry_mode.
After executing the layout. I could copy the data and save it. BUT after saving it change button is not getting active.
I think i did do something in save button (B). I just mentioned button group but didnt mention the change button. Can you please help me?

Here is the step by step procedure for that.
I assume that you have already created a planning level and Planning package.
1.Double click on planning level
2.From Context menu of planning Function(2nd panel which lying below the Planng area/level panel)-->create planning function
3.Enter Tech name and description for planning function
4.Expand 'all functions' tab -->double click on 'Exit function'
5.Here you have to provide Function module for initialization(if necessary), and Function module where you have to write the logic, and 'Fields to be changed' and 'parameter name and data element for the same'.
6.Now create a Parameter group from context menu of Planning function and Provide necessary values as per your requirements.

Execute planning function in Web template for selected row in analysis item

Hello all.
I have been trying several different solution for this issue I have, but could not ,make it work. Hopefully, any of you can give me some ideas.
Initially the scenario seems to be easy.
I have a Web template were I show a query analysis item with costcenter, plan/act type, user and entry date. I allow single record selection in this item.
I have a button that should execute a planning function from the plannig modeler.
The planning function should be executed only for the costcenter and plan/act type which are selected in the analysis item.
How do I have to link the two objects :analysis item and planning function, so that the planning function is executed with the correct filter? What should be the filter definition (if any expecific things to consider)?.

Thanks a lot for your answer, but it did not solve my issue.
The problem is that my query is not created over the same agregation level as the planning function is, and as per the link you have sent me it seems to be a prerequisite.
Is there any other way to do it?
More in detail, I am implementing a Lock/Unlock mechanissim for planning costcenters. I have a n ODS where I store my costcenetr status(lock or unlock) and I also have a cube where the planning values are stored.
My query(to select the costcenter to unlock) is done from the ODS, and my planning function is done in an aggreagation level of my cube (this is to lock the costcenter in cube, to avoid incorredct updates while it is unlocked/locked).
The issue that I have is that I can not find a way to send the selected information from the query to the planning function.
I hope you have more ideas.

Execute planning function in Web template for selected item in anylisys ite

Hello all.
I have been trying several different solution for this issue I have, but could not ,make it work. Hopefully, any of you can give me some ideas.
Initially the scenario seems to be easy.
I have a Web template were I show a query analysis item with costcenter, plan/act type, user and entry date. I allow single record selection in this item.
I have a button that should execute a planning function from the plannig modeler.
