RSRT: No information broadcasting available

Hi experts,
I have following problem:
When I execute a query (HTML) in RSRT, then the query will be displayed. but the three other tabs (grafic, info, information broadcasting) are empty.
So I can´t change setting for broadcasting.
Is there any solution for this problem?
System: BW 7.01

looks like your broadcasting set up is affected during migration..
check with basis on precalculation server..

Hi,
Try activating multiprovider and underlying infocubes, using following programs.
Multiprovider: RSDG_MPRO_ACTIVATE
Infocube: RSDG_CUBE_ACTIVATE
DSO: RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE
InfoObject: RSDG_IBOJ_ACTIVATE
Then try to run the query, alternately you can use transaction RSRT.

Regarding Information Broadcasting

Hi to all,
My requirement is I have to broadcast three queries to the roles.I know two methods one is from query designer and from query output in web, another one is from RSRT.Here we can have the option when the queries have to schedule here we can give the timestamp to execute.This is i knew. But My doubt is, is there any compulsory to have Information Broadcasting process in our process chain ?
plz give the suggestions about that.

Information Broadcasting on Portal and KM

Hello all,
We are about to implement a BI-Portal integration for information broadcasting soon. At present we are planning to integrate BI and it's BI runtime portal for information broadcasting - and our BI Portal does not have KM or TREX yet.
I would just like to confirm one issue. I've read materials but I'm still not 100% sure on this issue: does Information Broadcasting require the KM installation together with the EP?
It says on the FAQ:
In addition, using Broadcasting not only using e-mail but also with the SAP NetWeaver Portal requires the additional installation of a J2EE Server with SAP NetWeaver Portal or KM.
What I understand, do correct me if I'm wrong, is that when you publish into the Portal - it will reside on the PCD or in WebDAV (KM).
Question: is it mandatory to install KM for this scenario? Or can information broadcasting live by without KM?
I believe there are benefits on having KM - like subscriptions or have it accessible via BEx Portfolio under the business explorer role in the portal.. but I'm quite confused as to requiring to have KM installed.

It does appear that KM is required.. but some articles I've read did not point out it be mandatory. So overall, this one's kind of confusing -- well at least for me having no experience on BI-Portal integration.

Anyways, thanks again. And I will leave this thread open running and hopefully someone who has implemented Information Broadcasting can shed more light on this topic.

Information broadcasting: unable to fill variant in precalculation tab

Hi all,
I have been trying to broadcast a query in BEX BROADCASTER but when i try to fill in the variant in the general precalculation tab i am not able to create a new variant as it always takes me to web analyser screen and no option for saving the settings.
What i did is created variants in web analyzer as well as bex analyser but still in vain.
But the broadcasting is running if i go through analyser first then click on send and do the settings in the INFORMATION BROADCASTING tab.
But still there is only limited option available der no bursting or pdf or XML generation is allowed.
I need inputs on this because i need to broadcast it as XML format.

Please note that not all the distribution types are available for all the objects.

For queries, you can send them either by mail or export to the enterprise portal. XML is not available for queries.

Information Broadcasting(Event Data change in Info provider)

Hi All,
Does anyone have experince on the functionality Information Broadcasting ,Can you please help me where we use Trigger event when change in the info provider in the process chains.I want to know when we use the (Trigger event in the Broadcaster) in the process chains,how will it take effect in the Information Broadcasting scheduler screen when we select the particular Info provider when there is any data change.Can you please elaborate on the topic if any one has used the event data change in the info provider.Actually I Executed and scheduled the pocess chains, when I go to the Process chain log ,It says that the Job is finished and the data change is occured for the Cube,but I dont get any error message and I dont get any mail to my Inbox.Can you please through some light if anyone has worked on this,Answers are always appreciated and rewarded.

Usually we trigger an event in SM64 tcode..if u want to create an event u will go for SM62.
In addition to time- and calendar-based job scheduling, the background processing system supports event-driven scheduling.
Triggering an event notifies the background processing system that a particular condition has been met. The background processing system reacts by starting any jobs that were waiting for that event.
Events are not saved. Once an event occurs and triggers any jobs that were waiting for that event, the event is discarded
U can monitor process chain via Tcode 'CCMS'..
Information broadcasting allows you to make objects with Business Intelligence content available to a wide spectrum of users, according to your own requirements.

Information Broadcasting - Event data changes

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to trigger a broadcast settings, What i am trying to acheive is as soon as any data changes in data target, trigger a report to portal folder.
Report is published to portal only when there is no data in data target, i.e. contents of data target are empty and any data that is loaded as first request.
Any data loads after first request, Am i missing some configuration steps.

Information Broadcasting - Distribution Type Generate Alert

Hi,
1.) I am trying to use Broadcast by Exception by using Distribution Type Generate Alerts but when i am calling BEx Broadcaster i found that it only showing distribution type Broadcast Email in information broadcasting Tab but i want Distribution type Alert. is it required any setting or how to enable all these options
2.) when i am opening in RSRT it showing Information Broadcast setting but when i am calling through BEx Query Desinger- BEx Broadcaster it's not opening anything, is it required any setting for calling BEx Broadcaster through BEx Query Desinger?

In Information Broadcasting, it only showing two Distribution type one is Broadcast By Email and another is Broadcast to portal, How can i enable all information Broadcasting function for example Broadcast according to exception, Alert, etc.
is it require any setting or path or note?

Information Broadcasting - Work book Variant selection

Hi Team,
We are working on implementing the Information broadcasting through Process chains. We have configured the Broadcaster setting through RSRT (using ABAP Web). We have sample workbook created in order to broadcast the same via., PC.
The challenge is we have Date field as Mandatory in Query (corresponding workbook) and during BEx Broadcaster setting we have set a default value to it. Whenever the PC runs it picks the default values from the setting. As per the required to has to pick the latest system date in this field before broadcasting to users.
Do we have any option to achieve it? To automate the report variable to pull the latest system date.

Kindly carry out precalculation server set up with the help of basis team.
Prerequisites for setup:
     Install Microsoft .Net Framework (installed with SAP Frontend)
     Install SAP GUI 6.40
     SAP Netweaver 7.0 BI Frontend (BI Add-On).
     Install Microsoft Excel 2000 or higher
Main steps for setup:
     Install the pre-calculation software that is part of BI Add On.
     After Finishing the installation go to the Services Window of your operating system
     Search for Service called SAP BW PRECALCULATION SERVICE 7.0. Double click on the service.
     Enable Automatic as Startup type
     In the logon tab, mark the checkbox u201CAllow service to interact with desktopu201D.
     Log on to the BW system from the PC where you created the settings above and enter transaction RSPRECADMIN in order to Create Precalculation Server.
     Enter the technical name of the server (max. 10 characters) and a description. The description is language dependent and appears in the BEx Broadcaster during selection of a special precalculation server. The precalculation server, which from a technical viewpoint is an RFC server, appears in the list.
     Start the Windows service SAP BW Precalculation Service. The precalculation server is ready and the status display of the precalculation server shows a green light. You can now see the server in the Broadcaster setting dialog for a workbook precalculation distribution type.
     There is a log available to do trouble shooting. From Customizing (transaction SPRO): SAP Reference IMG SAP NetWeaver SAP Business Information Warehouse Reporting-relevant Settings General Reporting Settings in Business Explorer  Administer Precalculation Server Select the u2018Documentation for the Serveru2019 icon Display the Front End Log.

Hi raman,
Info broadcasting is a feature of BW 3.5 itself.
U need not activate any thing as it is a part of it.
U have to ensure that the email connection to BW is working (transaction SCOT) and the users are maintained in user master maintenance(transaction SU01).

Global Cache and Information Broadcasting

I've been reading about the Reporting Agent which was in previous versions of BW, and how when you ran scheduled a query from this it would store the result in the global cache. This meant that subsequent runs of the report would be a lot quicker.
It struck me that this would be a very quick and cost-effective way of speeding up our slower queries (rather than laying down a lot of money on an accelerator).
However, in BI7 we don't have the same functionality anymore - it's been replaced by Information Broadcasting, which seems a lot more suited to distributing pre-run reports than what I had in mind.
Is there a way in BI7 to scehdule reports to run and store the results in cache memory?

Even in Information broadcasting there is am option to fill OLAP cache. You can use this option. Reporting agent is available in BI7. You can use the tcode REPORTING_AGENT to access reporting agent, but note that this work for only 3.X queries and not 7.0 queries.

How to intergrate Outlook addressbook with information broadcasting

Hi All,
I have been able to send mail to my outlook thro information broadcasting. I would like to integrate outlook address book in broadcasting. ie. when a user is trying to send mail, he would like to get all mail address from his outlook in portal.
How can we do this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
With the distribution type Precalculated Value Set it is possible to fill variables of the type precalculated value sets with values for characteristic values in the background. The precalculated value sets are then available as variable values in BEx queries.
The precalculated value set displays the value of a variable of type Precalculated Value Set from the selected characteristic.
As a result of background processing, you can use the precalculated value set in a characteristic variable. You create a characteristic value variable in the Query Designer using the variable editor. Under Details you determine that the variable represents a precalculated value set. The value of this variable is the technical name of the value set specified in the broadcast setting. You enter the technical name in the Default Values tab page. The variable can be input ready and you can select different value sets in the variable screen at query runtime.

Information Broadcaster - textvariable

Hi All,
one more question regarding information broadcasting.
i want to use a own text variable as a text for an e-mail. I created an text variable in query designer and thought this would fix the problem. But, the text variable is not available. Is there any other way to create a text variable or is it not possible to use a own text variable.

When sending online links, the system automatically adds a link to the text of the e-mail if it is not part of the text via the variable PR_ONLINE_LINK.
