RSRT - variable screen

Hi Experts,
When run query with variable/ in RSRT (for output "list" or "Bex analyzer"),variable screen is not displayed. And when the variable is mandatory, then I of course recieved message "Specify a value for variable XXX of the Query"
But when I run the query in RSRT in html output or directly in Bex analyzer, everything works fine...
Any idea what is wrong?
Thank you
Regards
Pavel

It is.... , and some of them are also mandatory....
the wierd thing is, that it behaves differently in Bex and in RSRT. And it also behaves differently within RSRT itself, depending on output option. HTML works fine, Bex and List don't show variable screen.....

  • Urgent: Variable Screen appears in RSRT but not in BEx

    Hello Gurus,
I created a query with a selection screen. I used customer exit variables in it (Step 1 variables with "Ready for Input" option enabled). The screen appears very fast when I execute in RSRT. But, it doesn't appear when I execute the query in BEx (so, no report output also).
Please help in solving this issue.
    Quick replies are highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aarthi.

    Hi Venkat,
    Thanks for your time.
I am have 7 variable in total.
    1. Read Date_1  (Default value is system-date using customer exit (step 1). Also user can overwrite the entry in the pop-up screen)
    2. Read Date_2  (Default value is system-date using customer exit (step 1). Also user can overwrite the entry in the pop-up screen)
    3. Assign the value of Date_1 to 3rd variable in exit after the pop-up.
4, 5, 6 & 7: Variables are normal variables for user to provide input for Branch, Company, etc (No customer exit).
In the development environment, it is working fine in both, RSRT and BEx.
When it is moved to QA environment, the variable screen does not pops up in BEx. But, in RSRT it pops up in QA too.
    Don't know what is happening.
    Thanks,

  • F4 input help on Variable screen is not working on Portal

    Dear Experts,
We are facing one issue when we run the WAD report on portal, variable screen gets hang after clicking on input help button (F4) for couple of variables. We are facing same issues when we run the base queries on portal. But when we run the same base queries in RSRT (Tcode) or in BEx Analyzer we are not facing this issue and able to get the input help screen with values.
I also have gone through some old posts related to such issues but didn't help much. We are already on SAP BW 7.4 SP Level 008 and for Char IO Query Filter Value setting is kept as "Values in Master Data Table" only. This is a MD IO with Compounding.
Kindly let me know if anyone has faced such issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nilesh

    Dear Martin,
There is a no long running work process in the backend and data volume is more in Master Data Table, there are around 19 Lacks records available.
For BI Java patch and defaultTrace for errors I will check it with BASIS Admin team. Unfortunately I don’t have rights to do same.
    Thanks,

  • Variable Screen in Analyzer 7.0

    Dear All,
I am facing a peculiar problem with the variable screen.
The problem is even though I define the variables to be of type Interval or Selection Options, when I execute the query It shows the variable but allows on single entry.
But I do not have any issues in RSRT.
This is the following Analyzer I am using.
BI AddOn 7.X (based on 7.10)
    Support Package 7
    Revision 571.
Please let me know how to solve this issue.
    Cheers,
    Neel

    Dear Leo,
Could you please check and let me know whether the Support Pack 9 is on Business Explorer Side or BI Side.
If possible could you please open your Bex Analyzer and from the Bex Tool Bar click on Application Help --> About and let me know the exact details.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Cheers,

  • Variable screen is taking too much time for some reports

    Hi all,
We are using a sales billing cube for our billing reports . For one query , variable screen takes lot of time to come , i have in RSRT , i have generated the reoprt there and also executed the report there , it s fine there.Morever iam not using any customer exit variable for this.
    Can anybody suggets me whats is the exact problem;

How I can improve further. Will it be good enough if I create Indexes on the columns for the temp table and try.or what If I use derived tables??
I suggest you start with index tuning.  Specifically, make sure columns specified in the WHERE and JOIN columns are properly indexed (ideally clustered or covering, and unique when possible).  Changing outer joins to inner joins is appropriate
if you don't need outer joins in the first place.

  • Variable screen not seen when running BEx Analyzer

    Hi Gurus,
when i execute my query in BEx Analyzer for some reason i dont see my variable screen and it gives me a message saying variable values not entered. If i run the same report in RSRT i do get my variable screen. It was all find till yesterday and for some strange reason i dont get to see my variable screen.
    Can anyone help me

    What version are you on?
Did you try resetting personalized variables? You may have hit that by mistake, happens a lot here. Not sure that would be the case with no values entered however.

  • Long time required to load variable screen

    Hi Experts,
I going to start with the question and after I will explain the details. Is there any way in which I can preload in Cache "program" generated by the query?
When I run my queries is taking a long time just to load the variable screen. I think I know the reason what I need is your help to find a solution.
This happens in the big queries. These queries are defined on a Multiprovider, they have lots of selected/calculated key figures and for now I did all I could to optimize them. I used RSRT1 to check the technical information of the queries and in the generation limits I could see the load size is about 1 MB.
Again, the problem is even before I select the data. Is the re anyway to avoid this long load time?
I really appreciate your help I am about going live and this could be a big issue.
Thanks very much for your help,
    Raimundo Alvarez

    Hi,
Do you have variable replaced by another query? If that is case, you will get performance issue, when the prequery is runnig when call var screen.
Do you have variable replaced by authorization? If that is case, for the user will complicated authroization, it will take some time to fill it.
In general, when the variable screen is calling, have you check in sm66, what is the work process doing? In RSRT->run this query with statistics, which part takes most time?

  • Variable screen is missing

    Hi All,
We are facing a weird issue, that variable screen is missing while executing query in Bex, however we are able to get variable entry screen in RSRT and Web bex.
    1. Variable type : Characteristic values
    2. Processing type : User entry and entry is optional.
    3. We have checked ready for user input
Please let us know is there any work around / missing any settings to resolve this issue.
    Regards
    Venki

    Hello Venki,
If you are using Abap Web, and the SAP default template (you can check via RSCUSTV21 transaction), open the template
    0ADHOC with Web Application Designer 3.x .
On Properties select 0ADHOC -> WebItem TAB:
    > Check the box "Force Variable Screen Display"
However, If you are using BI Java Web, and the SAP default template (you can check via RSCUSTV27 transaction), open the template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN with Web Application Designer 7.0.
On WEBTEMPLATE properties -> -> WebTemplate Paramenters TAB:
    > Check the Box Display Variable Screen to ON.
    This will solve the issue.

  • Issue in F4 help in variable screen of the report

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue with Bex query, there are two navigational attributes in query, those are NAV1 and NAV2 and we have created two variable for these attributes,
When we run the query in analyzer and in the variable screen we are trying to select values for these attributes from F4 help, we are able to see both the values in each attribute.
For example NAV 1 has 100 vlues and NAV2 has 100 values, when we click on F4 help on the NAV1 attribute in variable screen we are able to see 200 entries, means it's including NAV2 values, it is vise-versa for the NAV2 attribute also.
I ran the same report in RSRT and click on F4 help for NAV1 and NAV2 attributes, here entris are fine, each attribute showing only 100 entries.
What could be reason for this issue.
Could you please adivce me how to solve this.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Please check Note 1495735 - 'check of changed records between DB and BIA after changerun'.
If BIA is in use then this can be the cause.
Otherwise check Note 1517248 - 'F4 help uses M mode instead of D mode for line item characteristic'.
Finally, verify the read modes for both InfoObjects:

  • Authorization variable on a NW2004s Java webreport variables screen.

    Hi,
We have an authorization concept on Country and Account. On Account some of our end-user are authorized for a few hundred accounts. The concept works fine and the authorizations are correct.
However as we are using webreports we are not pleased at all with the layout of the authorization variables on our variables screen.
The moment that an end-user has a few hundred authorized values for account, the variables screen becomes very wide since all individual values are displayed separated by semi columns :
    Example :
    Customer Account (Authorization)      5024336; 5024338; 5024340; 5024342; 5024344; 5024345; 5024347; 5024349; 5024351; 5024353; 5024355; 5024356; 5024357; 5024359; 5024360; 5024362; 5024363; 5024365; 5024367; 5024369; 5024371; 5024373; 5024375; 5024377; 5024379; 5024381; 5024383; 5024385; 5024387; 5024388; 5024389; 5024391; 5024393; 5024395; 5024397; 5024419.... ..... .....
In Bex or RSRT the behavior is different as over there we have the classical select option method which is much better : all individual values are initially not visible and can be seen in rows when you open the select option.
Is there any way to influence this ugly layout on the web ?
    thanks

    Thanks Patricia, Brian.
As I was saying, I have created the variable of Type "Authorization" and it is giving me the desired result, however, user has to click on selection dropdown to see what Org they are assigned to.
Now as suggested, I also tried creating the Authorizaiton variable for Org (Multiple single value, Ready for Input is not selected. Ran the report and I am getting error messages like: -->
"Call of the function RSSB_GET_AUTH_HIER_FOR_USER failed; the formal parameter I_THJT does not exist"
"An exception with the type CX_SY_DYN_CALL_PARAM_NOT_FOUND occurred, but was neither handled locally, nor declared in a RAISING"
However as soon as I select "Ready for input" box, I do  not get this errors.
    Any thoughts?

  • Web Template with Query Views not showing Variable Screen

Hi, I have a Web Template using 3 Query Views based on a single query.  The Query has 2 mandatory variables (CALMONTH and VERSION).  When I execute the Web Template it does not prompt with the Variable Screen, and presents the report with the Variables that were in place when the view was saved/created.  I'd like the Variables to appear.
    1. Is this the correct behavior?
    2. Is there any documentation that might describe this behavior.
    3. Should I just copy the query and create 3 queries instead?
Note: I did a search in SDN and found lots of similar threads, but nothing exact.  Also, I know about forcing the variable screen, but I thought I shouldn't have to do this.
    Thanks!

k forget the view, when you run the main query... do you get a pop up for variable screen,. yes or no?
if you dont then try to run another query and see if you get the variable screen as well. if you dont then its a bug. if you do then something is wrong in your query and its having an issue, but if you do get the screen on your query then it is a setting in your web template not in your query.
you can also try to run the query in RSRT backend ...

  • Long runtime to get variable screen with a 3.5 query published on EP7.0

    Dear Gurus,
    Here is my issue.
I have a query restricting data on compounded characteristics. This query was developped in 3.5 version. We publish it through the EP 7.0 we have, using the Bex Iview to display the data.
When I try to run the query on a QA environment, it takes more than 10 minutes, just to get the variable screen. I don't understand why, because when I run it through RSRT or through the regular 3.5 web interface it somes immediately.
I am looking at the process in SM50, and the system seems to look at all the data that is in the underlying structures...
I don't catch why the behaviour is so different between Bex web 3.5 and the 7.0. Is there a reason why the JAVA stack would run the query differently at the ABAP level ?
    Thanks for your input

Sorry. I confused HotSwap (a JVM feature) with FastSwap, a WLS improvement on top of HotSwap that makes it work in many more cases. FastSwap is only available in WLS 10.3 and newer. I don't know that much about operation of HotSwap on its own. My understanding is that it is not very effective (the number of cases it is able to replace the class is rather limited). If you touch anything other than a method body, it will not work. OEPE doesn't have any explicit tooling for HotSwap.

  • Can we load data in variable screen from flat file?

    Hello all,
One of my user once asked me she needs to run a report for some employees, i said you can just type that in employee varaible input box.
She said I need to run the report and I need it for 120 employees, she has the employee numbers in excel sheet.
What is the best way of doing this if any ?
    Thanks

This can be done from a flat file, which has list of all values.
If you are using Bex 3.5, then we have an icon in variable screen bottom right to upload values, where we can specify the path of the file.

  • Compounded characteristic are not displayed in the variable screen (BI 700)

    Hi Experts,
How to display compounded characteristic  in the variable screen of queriies?
    Example :
IO 0PROFIT_CTR is compounded to 0CO_AREA. Tryimg to select 0PROFIT_CTR via a variable,
only values of 0PROFIT_CTR are displayed in F4 opo up, not those of 0CO_AREA.
0CO_AREA is not restricted in any way in query definiton.
This happens in BEx Analyser as well as in web apllication.
Did anybody face this issue? How to solve it?
Thanks in advance for helpful replies.
    Regards
    Joe

    Hi,
Thanks for replies. Possibly I did't explain my problem i a correct way.
    'I 've a variable for 0PROFIT_CTR. When I call F4 , values for 0PROFIT_CTR are displayed
    e.g. as
    7062 PC 7062
    7062 PC /062
My problem is, that these PCs belong to different Co_areas. so i expected
    3200 7062 PC 7062
    4300 7062 PC 7062
3200 an 4300 are representing compounded Co_areas in this example. In 3.5 this worked perfectly,
if Co_areas was not restricted itself with a variable or a defined value.
Now I'm looking for the option to achieve this as well in 700.
    Regards
    Joe
